We always do our weekly shop at Lidl Muller Road. There have been some times when the self-checkout tills stop working or some of the stock is running low because of the high demand- this has never affected our experience as we know that we’re getting a good deal for our money. Produce is great, staff have always been pleasant and helpful, however lately…Well, it’s safe to say- the social awareness and efforts of making their customers feel safe during a global pandemic have gone out the window. I’m not expecting a personally tailored experience and all-welcoming smiles, as I know Lidl has less staff on the shop floor than some of the high-end supermarkets such as Waitrose who can afford to pay for more staff on shift, however, a simple trick of crowd control, reminding their customers to wear a mask (and maybe wearing one themselves) wouldn’t be too much to ask, would it? When we asked the till assistant if the shop had no facemask policy, they replied that even though they encourage customers to wear masks, they cannot challenge them on why they aren’t wearing one, as it could be because of a health condition. They also added that they’ve been receiving a lot of complaints about staff and customers not wearing a mask, but there’s simply nothing that they can do… I presume it would be difficult and even hypocritical to challenge their customers for not complying with safety measures, when the store manager himself is not wearing a mask. During my half-an-hour presence at the shop I saw 3 staff and 3 customers not wearing a mask at all and multiple customers, and 2 staff members wearing a mask covering only their mouth- is there a health condition that prevents you to wear the mask correctly? How come well spaced-out restaurants and pubs, museums and privately ran shops with one in- one out system have to be closed but a shop that has 50 people indoors, with less than 1 meter distance between their customers and staff with some wearing masks and some not, is OKAY? I suppose it’s true- the real virus is ignorance and sadly, for us, who cannot afford weekly shop at Waitrose, only choice is to go for the affordable yet unsafe option. I can’t stop but wonder if it really takes for one of those mask-not-wearer’s mums, partners or grandmothers to die for them to start caring? In the meantime, I suppose it’s all fine- let’s just let them pass the virus onto ‘whoever came to buy their carrots and butter today’.

I went early just after its opening time at 8:00am. I was very pleased with the huge parking area that also has a charging point for electric cars, marked areas for cars that has children and disabled drivers marked areas. Inside the shop it was very clean and stacked with a large variety of fresh fruits and vegetables besides a huge number of other groceries and weekly offers. At the self checking point there was a young man running immediately to help when the machines buzz and halt as is the case in all its other branches, unlike Fishponds branch where the customer has to wait a while until someone comes and fixes the error that keeps stopping the scanning of items. I usually purchase my groceries at Fishponds branch but after seeing this branch I would certainly reconsider even though its a bit far from my residential area.

Well stocked shop. Large car park with a charging point for electric cars. It has a fresh baked goods section as well. Product range not as expansive as a Tesco Extra. Product prices are good and quality is good. Pecan twist in bakery section is good. Sausages the skins are a bit chewy. The bacon has a white film when cooked and curls up slightly in the frying pan. However going to another shop is not an option due to petrol shortages. When the car calculates you have 6 miles left should you run it down to zero ?. There are plenty of shopping trolleys, the small ones and the large ones. Also they have shopping baskets that have a handle and a pull up handle and wheels on the bottom, so you can wheel them behind you like carry-on luggage. They have Neo biscuits that bear a striking resemblance to Oreos.

A newly built Lidl which is fairly large; both the store itself and the car park. Compared to other Lidl's in Bristol, it offers a range of groceries and products in the middle isle. Having self checkouts is good because it means those with a small amount of items can get by quicker. I have not seen this in some of the other Lidl's in Bristol. The staff are also helpful/pleasant. It is also near 2 bus stops, with each going in opposite directions. However, some issues which I have found within the store is that it can be quite untidy at times; especially the middle isle with the weekly offers. Another issue which I have found is that the bakery can be quite empty at times/have limited options. Perhaps it can be due to the times I visit, but then again I do visit at a range of different times...

My friend had a medical emergency at lidl and we had the rush out of the shop to get to hospital. We had only got to the vegetables section before having the run to the toilets. With empty baskets it was clear we were not stealing. The security guard shouted at us for going out of the wrong exit and when we showed her the blood covering my friends body, so she would understand the emergency we were in, she persisted shouting at us. Very rude and inconsiderate. Surely the job of security is to protect the store but also support the customers especially when having a medical emergency. Such an unnecessary added stress. I left out the wrong door but she insisted my friend covered in blood walk all the way round the store out of the proper exist delaying us in getting to the hospital.

I used to quite like this Lidl as it has much better choice than the Aldi next door and a plenty big enough car park. However, if shopping towards the end of the day, lots of empty shelves. Often, not everthing has a price label, this happenes quite a bit. Spirits selection not great and they scan your shopping faster than you can put it in your trolley, let alone bag it. The trolleys also require a pound too which is annoying these days. To add insult to injury, the self service never works, they always require assistance but the person who gives assistance is working on the normal till, delaying both sets of queues. Simply, they need more staff on checkout.

  • Rehana Allan

I used one if the blue trolleys to shop with today, and bought a few more items than I intended to. Packed my bags and went to leave the shop with bags in the blue trolley. Buzzer went off and I was asked to leave the trolley in the shop, even though I said I would return it once shopping was in boot of my car. They wouldn't let me, so I picked up both bags of shopping and both bags whipped apart and shopping fell to the floor. A very kind security guy of African (possibly Somali descent), helped pick up my shopping and take it to my car for me. I just want to say a huge thank you for going the extra mile to make a customer's day less stressful.

What you'd expect from a new Lidl, clean and bright with its Middle Lidl row. However, considering they've just opened next door to arch rivals Aldi and it is their first week, one would imagine they'd get their staffing right. This is the first Lidl I've seen with self service, (so we can do the job they should be employing people to do), and it seems they might have been trying too much on that. People often do big shops, self service is fine for small amounts of goods. With one cashier open on a Tuesday evening the queue was more akin to waiting to ride a rollercoaster peak season. They did eventually open another aisle but the response was tardy.

  • Adnan Khokhar

Product are good nothing more than what expected in a supermarket. My issue was the staff, everyone running away as you have a question including the shift duty manager had to basically shout to be heard. When i did eventually get the shift duty manager attention. I get told he didn't like i shout. Why i had to was because everyone staff was avoiding?. He did not find out my enquiries to what Product i required instead wanted to argue. So i just left. I will not be spending my money with lidl again i thought i try a alternative but not this one customer service means alot this place lacks completely. Save your money aldi.

Recently built new store so a generous layout, lots of parking. Does have self checkout but have often found them unavailable for use in evenings so have to queue for normal checkout even with few items that would be what it was designed for. Does have bakery but unfortunately when I go in the evenings mostly the selection range is significantly reduced, so worth going during the morning or early afternoon if you want the fully bakery range. I can add an update, the bakery if fully stocked by around 0900 on weekdays and has has a great selection of tempting items. Also the self checkouts generally seem to always be available now

  • Richard Jarrett

Gotta love that new-car smell! Another Lidl store for the North Bristol area. As per always, a good range of products and competitive prices. This store is not as large as the one on Fox Den Road, so offering a slightly less comprehensive range of products and special offer items. Ample parking space, along with some very generous sized family bays, should make the weekly shop that little easier. Access from the main road is a breeze, however getting back out may prove more challenging at peak times. If someone in front of you is planning on turning right then you should stock up on bakery items before you leave.

  • John Willis

Generally ok. Staff not overly polite. The main reason for only 4 stars is that we're supposed to move away from the checkout (some people don't), and load our bags at the window shelf. I always try to do that, but what makes it most times difficult and sometimes impossible is the amount of hanging advertising boards and display baskets in the area designated for loading bags. If you want customers to move away from the checking then give us a clear area to load. I'll be surprised if anything gets done about this. John Willis.

  • Miss K

Miserable staff, who shout at you which till you should go to. The store is always messy, the meat section especially beef and chicken, had blood on the shelves, probably contaminating meat. staff are really unhelpful and need to really work on their Customer service! Some staff can’t even say hello, or tell you the total of your shopping, if staff are on the tills and it’s getting busy they will give you a dirty look if you line up at the busy tills. Definitely not shopping at Lidl again. Aldi is much better! And cheaper

  • Josh Hall

No mask policy at all. I went in for my weekly food shop and within 3 muinets of being in the store I saw at least 4 people not wearing a mask at all. Multiple people just holding their jumpers up to their face as they shopped. It makes me ask myself, If you're not fussed about masks being worn during a global pandemic where over 100,000 people have died in this country alone, what else arnt you fussed about hygiene wise? I left and went to Aldi in the end, they have a much better policy and Once it much safer.

  • Zak Shearman

The same low prices that you can expect from any LIDL, and in a very nice new store. This is probably one of my favourite LIDLs to go to because of how easy it is to get around. The only downside that I have here is that the staff are not the most helpful, and they may not guide you to exactly where the item is in other shops such as Tesco or Co-Op. Instead of this, they will just point you to the aisle that the product is in, and they can be very long.

  • Laura Nangreave

A little while back, I vowed not to use the self service till or the checkout next to it, if the queue was long as they share 1 staff member, which is extremely frustrating for both queues and very slow. So today I used number 3 as my checkout of choice, remembering the lady to have a quick hand. However it still felt like it took an age to get served. Not one for a quick pop in and pop out jobby.

  • Dylan Watson

Used to really like visiting this store, however since the new manager Tammy came in, it's been an absolute joke. Seen poor members of the team being verbally berated by her. She's a plague on society and doesn't respect the people who keep her in the job to keep her lights on. Only rated 3 stars because of the customer assistants, though doubt I'll shop there whilst she's still there. Fire Tammy

  • John Murray

Nice lidl pretty close to Aldi and B and M... All you need for a low cost weekly shop... With all the problems with stock availability you need to visit all to get a weekly shop done. Don't expect to get everything on your shopping list from one store anymore. There is more of a spread in terms of price aldi meats are probably better value but lidl rice and hot chocolate are cheaper etc..

  • Connor

Awful shop. No staff around at all. There were multiple smashed items and glass all across the floor. Shelves were empty and boxes everywhere. Staff member on the checkout had to keep running across to approve the self checkouts and it took ages to pay for my shopping. I spotted countless people shoplifting and I see why as there is no staff presence at all. Avoid this shop at all costs.

  • Ben Harrison

During covid, there are good safety measures, but that doesn't stop people from doing as they like in store. Decent prices and a great selection. If you have a specific shopping list then this may not be the supermarket for you, but if you need just the basics and are open to trying new brands, and alternatives, then this can open up some fun and excellently priced products.

  • itchy toes

I use it quite a lot and enjoy several of thier products including the bakery . But today at 12:35 cashier at till 3 ,who was slow , closed the aisle with about 4 people still in the queue ,i had already been there for 4/5 mins and i was 2nd , he finished serving his customer and moved away , we had to requeue at another aisle . this was poor customer service .

  • Charlotte Payne

i am a big fan of this lidl. so much better than the city centre one. only four stars because sometimes they don't have what i need and then i have to go to aldi to get extra stuff.. also it's not as good as bedminster lidl because there's no mcdonald's nearby. still a good lidl i would say out of the three bristol lidls i have visited it is in second place

  • Paweł Szumlas

Pros: - Nice big Lidl with all you need. Cons: - Terrible self check out system, assistance required and usually doing smth on aisle so you need to wait for ages. - Friday evening its chaos 2x times been there Friday and both times only 3 tills open waiting time around 30 min each time to be checked. But over all new and charming staff happy to help.

  • Travis Roth

Plenty of car parking spaces, couple of electric car charging ports. Clean & comfortably laid out store, lots of staff on hand to help out. Very affordable pricing on branded and non-branded products, great range of fresh fruit & veg. Most shelves fairly well stocked and clearly labelled. Dismal selection of vegetarian/dairy free/vegan options.

  • Shakilah Stevenson

No assistance at the self checkouts evert time I am there and everytime it is guaranteed the machine wont work properly and need assistance. Apparently the person working on till 1 has to stop serving to get up and then help the self checkouts aswell..appalling system and customer service. Always takes far too long in the lines for checkout.

  • Roberta Bosco

LIDL MUST enter new rules right now to protect their employees and customers. The amount of people allow to get in at the same time is horrible and highly risky for everybody. People should stay at least 1 mt away from eachother and workers should be provided of masks as soon as possible. Protect people and the community, be smart.

  • Rita Kiraly

Lidl is my absolute favourite supermarket, the quality of own brand products is significantly higher than other UK-based stores, the prices are affordable and the shops are well-designed and easy to shop. The one on Muller Road is large, tidy and usually well-stocked and has ample parking. Very convenient …

  • Nicky Bolt

Ah Lidl. The best thing about this standard to large Lidl is the little toddler trollies. Got some free washing powder today having spent more than £20. Good work Lidl. Now please can you make more steps to address plastics and also please can you make a pedestrian path through to the Aldi next door.

  • Jacek “YaTzY” Goronski

I'm a Tesco/M&S food shopper so we gave it a go. Excellent value saved me money but it didn't have the brands I wanted and the quality wasn't the same, the fruit, veg, meat and fish was good but I'll have to go elsewhere to get what I'm missing, tidy and friendly store, large car park. Cheers

  • Jean Stephens

Haven't been in the lydl store yet , but the pavement both sides of the road have been shut off. When we come out of the lane where do we walk. Also where do we get a bus. Bus stops both sides of the road have been taken away. Where do we get on a bus. I'm 82 and don't walk very far.

  • Trinaxlalzzlaaa Allen

The plants are wonderful and very much afordable such a great selection and very healthy looking too most recamend to buy from here the only one thing not possitve they need more than one person on the tills that's frustrating for a new store but otherwise great shop glad it's there

  • Michael Br

There were 13 people in front of me at the queue the evening I went shopping, but only 1 person on checkout and self service was closed. This was just an ordinary evening shop, not Christmas Eve at closing time. Not happy having to wait so excessively long to pay for my shopping.

  • Kirsti Willis

New Lidl building on Muller road. Huge parking spaces!! One of the biggest lidls I have been in so lots of variety which was good. Other than that the same as usual ones. They have a bakery which I think most do now. They also have a fair few electric parking bays which is good.

  • Benjamin Solomon

I have just spent an extraordinary long time waiting in a queue, with only a few people in front of me. With a lackluster checkout person, who's nonchalant work ethic would be better placed tending to the needs of a lethargic turtle, than meeting the needs of shopper.

  • Huckleberry 101

The counter by the self check out is the most inconsiderate service you could possibly experience. Poor staff member had to leave the till 4 times during my checkout to help out self checkout customers. In the peak time!!! Ridiculous and easily preventable...

  • Enrico Corradi

Couldn't be more disappointed. I walked into the shop after a very long walk in the sun with 26° looking for a nice chilled drink and the only drinks available were lucozade and ribina and all the other soft drinks and juices or flavoured water outside.

  • Chris Blanning

Quite a new store. Usual good quality and low prices Store is big... along with a very big car park which also has electric car charging points. Store is clean and plenty of staff around to help where nessicary There are customer toilets at this store.

  • Jason Silman

Cheap and good quality. 1 great thing about this place is I drank Coca-Cola for over 30yrs. And NO over brand came close then my ex girlfriend now tricked me into drinking freeway cola without my knowledge and I drank it and didn't notice

  • iDiedOfLaughter Inc.

Great store, clean and organized. The Staff are really nice, and always helpful. I like to go after 6pm as there are less people, and many of the perishable items are reduced. The wine selection is pretty awesome too! Thank f**k for Lidl...lol

  • b lupp

It's an excelent supermarket, however you can't find everything that you need. They also have a strange policy, they sell some products in short period of time. If you buy it , you're lucky, if you don't buy it, you will lose forever it …

  • George Maniotis

Kind, helpful and polite personnel, just not enough tills to help out customers with a fast(er) checkout. I understand that this is due to lots of people being on furlough, but still, this has a negative impact on service provided.

  • Becci Clarke

I normally like the newer Lidl's but this one felt distinctly average and less nice than ones of a similar age in North Bristol. All the standard products you would expect at great prices but it seemed understaffed on my visit.

  • Tim Keen

Love a Lidl and this one is my preferred Bristol outlet - but bigger and newer. Shame about the roadworks as makes it a bit of a pain to get to currently. But car park is pretty massive and store doesn't seem to get very busy

  • mutil umila

Top supermarket, not what the chain used to be years ago, miss all the products in 7 languages. Nice staff, clean and shiny, a bit sad on fresh produce. The new self checkout tills are too sensitive and are hard to manoeuvre.

  • DeepMyst Music

This supermarket is really nice too, but could be more colder inside in the summer. It has everything really. I wish Lidl would keep products that are found in other countries stores like Spain for it's peach mermelada !!!

  • Stephen Ford

Great New Large LIDL Store with massive Car Park. If the Muller Road traffic is bad, stop for a shop, as I sometimes do ! Great Value Shop with the eclectic 'Middle of LIDL' miscellaneous 'specials' that change weekly ...

  • Chris Tothill

Big new Lidl. Lots of nice wide parking spaces. Queues usually not too long. If you want to buy bread and a chainsaw (or whatever they happen to be selling in the middle this week) from the same store, this is the place.

  • KKN

Like the new wider, clean looking store. Always prefer to use self checkout and there are many such tills here. Very convenient location. Most of my cordless power tools are from Lidl so a great place for such kit.

  • Teo .H

To be honest its swayed by the fact lidl own brand pringles are barley free which means im not intolerant to them :D Good customer service in my experience but thats to the credit of the employees not corporate.

  • Leonora Rochester

Great experience shopping at this food store. I had done so before Covid-19 and I'm still shopping there. At a time of increasing cost, why pay more when you can get the same for less, and with good taste?

  • Rich Lawrence

Loads of parking. Good selection of bread and veg (though don't leave It too late to get there if you want some choice!) and a self checkout section so you don't have to endure human interaction!

  • Huili Hou

Overall good, cheap prices and decent quality. However do not buy sushi here. The rice is undercooked and there is barely any fish in it. Had to throw it away as the rice was far from edible…

  • Bea Lowndes

Spacious store, never seems overly busy, but we pick our timing. Like doing grocery shopping here, but did notice limited choices this visit, much cheaper though than mainstream supermarkets

  • Luke

Excellent helpful and informative and caring staff and door Man. Thank you for your support and help with me yesterday and for my mum too. Take care and best regards for 22 new year too!

  • Tristan Anderson

Thank you Abbie & the security guard for letting me swap my wrist guard 4 a different size, I will continue to shop here for the good value & customer support Much love respect & namaste

  • steve iles

First time in this new store, no problem with parking, internal layout much like any Lidls.Did all we required quickly with no hassle and back out in less than half an hour.great.

  • Jenni Udall

Thank you to Kevin today who was very kind after I accidentally dropped a bottle of red wine all over the floor! I was mortified but he was very compassionate and reassuring.

  • Paul

Not the best Lidl I've been in. Some shelf's were not that we'll organised and stacked neatly. Trolleys from shelf stackers left in aisles. Just glad this isn't my local lidl

  • Robert Holdford

No bakery bread rolls selection at 11am on a Sunday....pure amateurs in the business.....no staff to provide customer service or stock shelves...go elsewhere or go hungry!!!

  • Jemimah Daly

Lidl after 9pm is the best kind of Lidl. Quality vibes, interesting people, not much left on the shelves so you can come away with a lot of random interesting stuff as well.

  • anthony sorhaindo

Nice big carpark for one, most staff are friendly but one or two needs advising to put a smile on there face you are far to serious which I've experienced to many times.

  • LYN TURLEY

Today was our first visit to this particular Lidl store and can only say it will not be our last. We found the wide range and quality of the products staggering.

  • julia sharp

Went in for the children's play sand & there wasn't any in store when I asked a member of staff I was told "I don't no I don't think where getting any in" …

  • Steve Wood

Good produce at fair prices. Choice is often random and reduced. Don't like the speed at which the check-out people 'throw' the scanned goods at you to pack.

  • Steven M

Great value, good quality. Can't rate it any higher as some self service checkouts have been broken for weeks and certain items are never in stock/missing.

  • Sofee Dee

Lovely place. Very big, organised iles. A lot of fresh produce. Reasonable prices. A little goes a long way. Plenty of parking. Relaxed place to shop.

  • Lucie Vox

Male Shop Assistant called me "darling" at the checkout which is highly offensive and misogynistic. The correct way to address a woman is "ma'am".

  • James Ndungu

I like these store i love the bakery freshly made and cheap frozen and fresh goods. The offer coupons every thursday on most goods give it a try.

  • Garry billings

Not enough staff as the poor lad on the till was having to cover his own till and all the self scans at the same time. He was still very polite .

  • Mathew Grant

If you are looking for veggy options you will have to go elsewhere. Genuinely shocked to find no vegetarian or vegan areas within the store.

  • Rachel Bevan

With the Lidl card. I got £10 coupon off my shopping! As well as good prices. Satisfied with weekly shop, instead of feeling ripped off..

  • Claire Taffs

Great shop and always well stocked.........but more till staff needed. The staff do an excellent job running from till to self checkout.

  • D M

Great on value, Lidl on Price for sure. A £30 tesco shop easily costs £20 for me so I'm always happy when I do my weekly shopping here.

  • delvo76

Very spacious. Great selection and as you already kniw, very low prices! Almost cut our monthly shopping bill (Asda) in half. AMAZING!

  • Gary Walsh

Great place to shop. Had a checkout assistant called "Chase"....he was friendly, kind, pleasant and helpful. A credit to the company!

  • Mrs B

Shelves completely empty for a few lines but that's not so unusual these days. Great value made even better with a £5 off voucher.

  • Sebastian Paz

Amazing as always. Every time I see a leader I know I would have something nice to eat and interesting things for window shopping

  • Helen Cranton

Enjoy shopping at Lidl. This is a nice big store. Plenty of parking. Shelves are well stocked. Staff are friendly and helpful.

  • Steve Smith

Limited selection but cost effective good for german sausage dutch cheese and liads of own brand things all reasonably priced

  • Craig Buist

Ques were getting bigger but no more tills were opened. If Lidl knows they are going to get busy they need to open more tills

  • john paynter

Good bargains to be had here. Large free car park, light airy store, usual Cluttered walk ways. Self service not working yet.

  • Linda Martin

My partner and myself love lidl it's cheap but quality food we go every week not only food they sell other great stuff too

  • Mazz

V cheap even these days, usually has much more in stock than other Lidls in the area, AND they have a customer toilet!!

  • Liz K

Good shop. Well stocked. Good car park. One customer toilet nice and clean with disabled wheelchair access buzzer etc.

  • Shauny Thorpe

Poor vegetable and salad always going off quickly thats why it's cheap you only get want you pay for …

  • Rin Young

Good sized store. Had everything we needed! Very good prices :-) Enjoyed the use of the self checkouts.

  • fzl RMN

Excellent child sized shopping trolleys. At least one of the family can enjoy going to a supermarket.

  • william bull

Was quiet in the evening around 7pm and also the Ilse were big enough for two to pass through safely.

  • Christine James

Always able to park in the large car park. A great selection of food plus the middle isle bargains!

  • Pauline B

Nice large store making it easier to shop. Good prices. The male cashier very friendly and helpful.

  • Peter Murray

Usual gaps on some shelves, but the staff are all more helpful and friendly than you might imagine.

  • Sarah Burner

Love this shop and would give 5* but they don't wash out their hand baskets which are always dirty!

  • Noel

Great place to shop. They always have fresh produce and bakery goods. Very reasonable prices too.

  • Leanne Chambers

Good stock levels. A wider range of green veges would be better. Friendly service from the team.

  • steven smith

I like this store, they sell quality fresh rolls, pastries and breads, good wines, beers etc.

  • Michaela Bartlett

Its the 3rd time I have been to this store its bright & airy lots of choice for shopping.

  • Jayne Macleod

Toilets disgusting, very soiled, floor soaking, no wet floor sign. Not impressed overall

  • CGCGCG91

Pretty good Lidl experience. Actually had s decent bakery selection for once. Woo

  • romanas suchodumcevas (romansucho)

Lidl as usually very good, bought everything I needed …

  • Adam Williams

Self service tills actually work, no waiting and tasty wine available
