Updated review : Wow till the end. It has been an amazing pleasure to go back to the memorial park honouring the late Dr. kwame Nkrumah. What an amazing piece of architecture this place has become , in fact renovation was needed but we must admit , it went beyond expectations from the entrance Hall to the diverse halls within the park. Kudos to that and you may be paying up to 100gh if you are a foreigner but it does worth the price. I totally recommend this immersion for both kids and adults. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Still a pleasure to go there , I have been there exactly many times. This place has somethig making you proud to be African, the real essence and the proudness through Dr. KWAME NKRUMAH. The only issue would be the fountains in need freshness with a good cleaning and fresh streaming water. Great place to learn about a Pan-Africanist man who has been what we need in this world as a leader. Still a pleasure to pass by , with moderare entrance fee, you can go there and enjoy a tour alone or accompanied. Ps, be also aware of the guys selling at the entrance, I not judging them , but they might bore you a little bit by asking you to buy stuffs or trying to rip you off if they see you not from the area. Except that , it's a beautiful experience.

The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is understaffed. You’d have to wait in queue no matter the time of day you visit. I recommend buying tickets ahead of time. If you’re there to actually tour the place, your chances of getting a tour guide are very slim. You see school children trooping in, in large numbers especially getting close to the weekends and knowing that the guides are just few, you’d be sure that some will just pass through and take pictures without proper history lessons and explanations. The renovations to the place are awesome. With the introduction of the walk-through audio museum, snack bars and others. What they didn’t factor in, is operation and definitely maintenance. Hear me - tourists had read about the place and seen videos of the fountain ⛲️ They wanted to come down and experience it, which they did. When they got here, they were told that the person who turns on the fountain is not around!!!! How??? The grass is already starting to look bad. I’d be disappointed if this place goes back to the way it was just under a year.

This place has been recently renovated and upgraded. More buildings added(the museum & library). It also has a bar and restaurant but only the bar functioning partially now. Bathrooms kept very clean. The water around the mausoleum was dirty and needs to be cleaned daily. Also, I would like to suggest that they get a uniform (an African wear would be perfect) plus the employees should be wearing name tags. Lastly, we were told we can't take photo or video inside the museum. I strongly disagree with that decision. About 90% of whatever was inside the museum/library is already out there on the internet. So what are they actually trying to protect? It just doesn't make any sense. I will rather suggest that they charge extra eg 200ghc if any tourist wants to take pictures or videos inside the museum. On the whole it's a great place to visit and to learn about one of the greatest African leader Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

When you get out your vehicle there are entrepreneurs with items to buy if you want. My party bought some keychains for a very reasonable price. The lobby is air conditioned, has clean restrooms, and a few good picture spots. The guided tour is both inside and outside. They do not allow photography of any kind inside. The tour is actually very short. Maybe 20 minutes with a short break for photos on the balcony. It is wheelchair accessible. I am a big reader, so if you can do it without the big group, I would recommend that because I felt a little rushed. The only thing is the tour guide provided very good information, so maybe do the tour with the guide and then go back, if you're a nerd like me. The place was beautiful. It is 20 min of walking/standing so beware. And it's Ghana so the outside side parts will be hot and humid. We had a bonus because it was Accra Fashion Week!

This is more of a museum than a park. Great place for learning the history Ghanaian democracy and the force that Kwame Nkrumah was. As a foreigner we paid a 100% more for tickets than Ghanaians pay. Fair play though, hoke advantage. We had a guide who walked us through the museum and explained the things we saw, quite impressed with the ahistory and amount of personal belongings of Nkrumah kept there. Outside the museum, you may take pictures with his statues or around the park.. wish they would introduce more fun activities for kids, it would encourage even more guests to visit. There's a cute little snack bar that sells great popcorn but the worst meatpie I have ever seen. Drinks and snacks are moderately priced. They either have a Nigerian DJ or the person in charge of sound just knows good music because it was naijapiano alll the way.

The museum stands as a remarkable tribute to Ghana's inaugural president. It excels in elucidating the origins and enduring impact of this iconic figure. The memorial's symbolism is both elegant and thought-provoking, and I truly valued the insightful guidance from our tour guide. However, there are some areas in need of enhancement, such as the installation of street lights along the roadside in front of the museum for safety, and the addition of an extra restroom. Despite these considerations, the comprehensive renovations are undeniably impressive. The park's layout is particularly appealing, offering ample green spaces and comfortable seating areas. I was particularly enamored with the incorporation of Adinkra symbols into the park's design elements, adding an extra layer of cultural significance to the entire experience.

One of the reasons I am in love with Ghana is their culture, art and history! Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park encompasses all that. You'll get an understanding of the history of Ghana and their founding fathers. You'll get a peak at their unique architecture, the political history of Kwame Nkrumah, his family and see where he was buried (PS: his wife is buried next to him). You'll also get to see some of the quotes he's known for and see a video of his speeches. It's also a great place to just chill and unwind. They sell food and there's music as well. You'll get to see some art and the classic car driven by Kwame Nkrumah, the piano he played amongst other belongings of his. I highly recommend you visit the park when you are in Ghana

The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra is an immensely important and impactful site. The monument pays homage to the remarkable legacy of Kwame Nkrumah, an instrumental figure in Ghana's fight for independence. As one walks through this memorial park, it offers profound insights into Nkrumah's life and his efforts towards the Pan-African struggle. Not only is it his final resting place, but also a vivid storytelling canvas that captures key moments from his life and Ghana's history. For anyone visiting Accra, this site offers a compelling blend of history, respect, and a deep sense of patriotism. A visit is highly recommended for the history buffs and those looking to understand the birth of modern Ghana.

A well known site to Ghanaians and people all around the world. Whether you are her on business or on for pleasure stop by. There is so much history and knowledge that can be found at this center. Affordable entrance fee and multiple things to do. My favorite part was the benches and shaded grass area. The grass area is perfect for lounging or a picnic should time allow. I would suggest bringing your own drinks and food as the food there was overly expensive. The museum was nice, but a quick question walk through experience. I didn’t have a guide so that may lend to a different experience. Looking forward to returning next year with a larger group.

Wow. People may have different views of President Kwame, but his life and presidency was very interesting. Just the fact that he was the central point in Ghana gaining its independence. The crazy part was hearing how many times his body was moved before the final resting place. It's a very beautiful park. There's signs all over the place saying not to touch the artifacts. Please respect the rules, clearly some people couldn't figure that out even with a big sign on the artifacts. Heads up; there's separate admission fees, one for Ghanaians and one for everyone else (which is more ♂️). Definitely a must see when you visit Accra.

It was quiet easy to locate the mausoleum. Google map helped. The park is about 15-20mins walk from the Black Star Square and 5mins from the Art Centre. I went in the late afternoon and admission was free. There is A LOT to see. I especially enjoyed the "dancing waterfalls". There was music emanating from speakers and the fountains were made to seem like they were dancing. You have to experience it to know what I'm talking about. The park is dedicated to the first Prime Minister and President of The Republic of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and you can take a walk back in time- so to speak. I am particular impressed with the maintenance of the park given that entry is free Great job, Ghana!!!
The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is accra's interpretation of a Museum and park integration. The Museum broadly covering the pre, struggle and post independent periods of Ghana as a nation and specifically outlines the impact and part played by Kwame Nkrumah (named after) not only in Ghana but across Africa. Text and Video speeches alongside personal items of the named can be viewed within the doors while a scenic water and light show park surrounds his final resting place. A gist store, resturant and bar are supplementary services to the park.

This was my first time here ever! I was there for the 2023 GABA Awards. Had it not been for some good luck, rain on that day would have messed up the event, it actually did somewhat. That experience made me think the face-lift of the facility could have included an event hall. This would have attracted a lot more than what we currently have. I didn't get the chance to take a tour throughout the the whole facility but I would say the place and the name of the one it was named after would always sell itself. I was impressed!

This has to be the best visitor attraction Ghana has produced in ages. A truly fitting memorial to your cherished founding president. Yet to see it at night when all the lighting effects can be appreciated but even by day the audio visual effects (fountains and music) are surprisingly good. A place where you want to dwell for hours and large enough that you feel you can't quite see it from every photogenic angle in one visit. I didn't have to queue for admission but I gather it can be a problem. Still work to be done but and off to the designers you can be proud of yourselves.
Not too much of an exciting location because there is not much exciting to see. The history of Nkrumah was told. That's ok. The museum was mostly pictures and writings on the wall. Some statues of the Kwame Nkrumah. The tomb was too ordinary and there was a library and restaurants and bars. Kwame Nkrumah's car was at the reception area and anyone can see without paying an entrance fee. A little disappointed I did not see much. Maybe my expectations were too high. I still recommend you to visit.

Beautiful park, there was a beauty fair going on the day we visited so there were lots of things to buy, hair and skin beauty products. The park is neat and there’s snacks and foot to buy, lots of seating area as well. The highlight was the museum, very detailed and showed Kwame Nkrumah’s life work, his story, how he died, some of his belongings were also on display. It was a beautiful experience. It costs 100 Ghana Cedis per person for us because we are not Ghanaian citizens.

A quite nice place but be sure that fact in there is not 100% accurate. If the Government for Ghana handling this National's level place for Ghanaian also can make this mistake, do not bother to wonder why this country is so far behind. lol. For a place as high importance as this for Ghanaians, a mistake even a simple or small one is not an option. Hello Ghanaian, this is about your image, about your historic heritage, about your proud legacy, and you allowed this thing..? As an expatriate says when see this sort of thing in Ghana, 'Welcome to Ghana' lol
Right in the heart of Accra, you can get yourself acquainted with the rich and comprehensive history of one of Ghana's Giants; whose significant contributions have contributed immensely to the Ghana we have today. I absolutely love the use of Adinkra (Virtue) symbols; which forms a part of our cultural heritage, in the design of the place. The restaurants also serve good food and the gift shop also has some really unique authentic Ghanaian emblems and Souvenirs.

We visited on a cloudy Wednesday afternoon to take a look at the newly renovated park. I never saw the original so I don’t have a frame of reference to point to. The remodeled park looks beautiful and the museum quite informative. Though I hate chickens, I found it lovely that he used to rear chickens in childhood and there were chickens roaming freely in the park. The gift shop is also lovely with some quintessentially Ghanaian mementos if you choose to buy.

Fascinating and inspiring place, with the focus on audio-visual exhibition of the late Presidents achievements and quotes rather than physical artifacts... Which can definitely do with a refreshed approach to display and context. The new outer buildings with the pools, fountains and statues are strikingly different. Why photography isn't allowed inside is beyond me. A lovely shaded area under yes had been created with tables and seating for a picnic or meals

For me, I was able to get a feel of where Ghana is coming from through this visit. This is a very good initiative by the Government of Ghana. The place is well kept and easily accessible. Within the Museum, you get to see everything that has got to do with Kwame Nkrumah, from his pictures to his famously worn dresses to his office table, his school locker and so much more. I also love the fact that everything was kept as it was most especially the vandalised statues of Kwame Nkrumah. The garden also provides sitout and picnic opportunities.
So I’ve been living in Accra for so many years but have never visited the Nkrumah memorial park. So I decided to go. I like the new look of the place. Very modern looking but full of the African culture. Actually I was kind of expecting more history but I just didn’t get enough of it. Overall I like the experience, this place is beautiful. But I feel like more of Ghanaian rich culture can be added to make the park more interesting.

Having been to Olusegun Obasanjo's presidential library in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, I feel this place is a let done, there wasn't much to see and the tour guide are not ready available. The fact non Ghanaians have to pay 4× what a local pays for adult and 6× for children and not get a guide was ridiculous to me. I would rather read more about Kwame on Wikipedia. But if you are all for getting good pictures, that's fine.

The museum is rich in the history of Ghana, which has strong connections to African and I ternational countries. The icon of Pan Africanism Kwame Nkrumah's life was easily depicted, which included his contributions to the development of not only Ghana but South Africa at large. Our female tour guide, whose name is Awuracy, was really a legend in how she narrated all the stories to become very interestingly memorable.

Took the boys - ages 10, 14, 19 and they all had an amazing time. I wish we could get to vendors within the facility especially because children can easily need water, snacks and the likes. Also wished we had a tour guide especially because children might not be able to enjoy it fully if there is no one to guide. The fountain was dirty and it wasn't flowing. Might be a managerial challenge but without doubt, it made a great difference in the scene . Overall, it was a nice experience.
A small mausoleum in honour of the life of Kwame Nkurumah. It is an interesting place to learn more about the person and his life. Nothing of great interest unless you want to learn more about the person. They have a small bookshop where you can also buy the books Nkurumah wrote. It is a visit that can take about an hour. There are guides who can help you learn more about Nkurumah.

This is a memorial park and museum to the first President of Ghana. The place itself it's a bit depressing, because it's run down and not well maintained at all. If it were restored it would be an very interesting place to visit while in Ghana. There are free tour guides on site that will narrate to you the history of Kwame Nkrumah along with the significance of the park. Get one of those guides otherwise you will not enjoy this park.
This remarkable museum dedicated to the first president of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah is not just a museum; it's a journey through history. Seeing his personal belongings like the piano, coat, and telephone was humbling. The museum's collection of historical artifacts is extensive, offering a deep dive into Ghana's past. A must visit for anyone interested in history and the legacy of this great leader .

The reason I’m not giving it a five star is because of the difference in access fee for Ghanaians and Non Ghanaians. It’s unfortunate that the fee cannot be reduced for fellow west Africans talk more of fellow Africans in general. This is applicable in majority of the tourist attractions in Ghana.

I really wanted to give this place a 5 but for the mere fact that they don't have any information about him to read during the experience was baffling to me! There was a museum with all the famous quotes but no real information to read about his story, his life, his legacy. I would have even appreciated a shop where you can buy something. Non-ghaianans pay 100 cedis per adult.
Basically a memorial ground for Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his wife Fatia. They've got a museum where some of his belongings and photos are displayed. You'll have to purchase a ticket whether you're a Ghanaian or foreigner. There's a snack bar, resturant (not yet opened) and a bar for adults.

What a shame that a very historic and interresting site are not properly looked after! The museum is dirty, too hot and really run down. The memorial is supposed to have water all around it, but it is dry and the general state of the garden is not well kept. I am afraid that in a few years time nobody would want to pay to see this.
I've been here a few times. It's been newly renovated and Iooks brand new and rejuvenated. Get to see artefacts from the late Kwame Nkrumah's life and times. Get to purchase a souvenir. Get to see Kwame's tomb and just enjoy the ambience. The space is also great for events, photoshoots, etc. People even shoot music videos there.
Loved it, the guide was very informative. Definitely worth a visit by all Africans. My only issue is why should other Africans pay more than Ghanaians? KN was an African icon, we should all have the privilege to learn from his life.

It was an amazing experience learning about Kwame Nkrumah's life and the way he fought for what Ghana is today. I also had the opportunity to see the museum (couldn't take pictures). I saw trees planted by every single President or head of states that had visited Ghana. Kwame Nkrumah's grave side is also in the premises.

Amazing historical site with lots of info about the great Kwame Nkrumah. Has a very beautiful garden suitable for outdoor photography. Tourists, photographers and lovers of history would absolutely enjoy this location.
It was fun But there are things we need to put in place 1. There should be a guide around to assist with the movement 2. The water is too open a kid may fall of care is not taken. Overall it was a beautiful experience
It’s a beautiful place but I fink the staffs are overwhelmed by the numbers trooping in thus making the experience unwelcoming.

The environment was great and the place was well kept. I think they should be enough tour guides and the tourist must be put in groups for the tour. Besides that it was a great experience.

You can't come to Ghana without seeing one of its most important memorials. You'll learn a lot about Ghana's 1st president and how he obtained their independence from the British.
Value for money and vast improvement with the additional buildings added. Recommend it!

Park has interesting history and information on Kwame Nkrumah. The fountains were not turned on though. This is a place everyone should visit at least once.
