Recently took my pit bull in for an allergy shot that she has previously gotten at this location. Once my dog became nervous the Vet immediately became overwhelmed and stated that she could not do the exam. She also made very blunt and rude statements such as “you need to have the dog sedated before bringing her in or don’t even bother.” Basically stating that she didn’t not want my dog as a patient anymore. The service is horrible and the new veterinarian is absolutely money hungry. The new staff does not care for the animals the way the old staff used to. The vet still charged a whopping $58 for an examination that never took place. If this were the 2016 Kirby Animal Hospital I would have highly recommend them. Now, I do not recommend taking your pet to the Kirby Family Vet. The staff is no longer knowledgeable, caring, or compassionate. They just want your money to pay for their new building.

Dr. Hill was one of the kindest vets we have took our pup to. Ever since she retired, the place has gone down hill, the front staff is kind but they don’t tend to explain things, seems like the focus of the company is to get as many patients as possible, rather than give quality care. We took our elder dog to the new veterinary doctors of the office and the experience was negative for me and the pup. Considering that he is a very friendly dog and has never once snapped at a vet appointment, the veterinary doctor giving him the shots were so rough that they led him to snap back at them. One day after the appointment he is limping and I couldn’t even pet him without him screeching in pain. Overall I am extremely disappointed and after 5 years of going to this clinic, Im sad to say I have to find a different vet. Would not recommend.

Brought my dog here for the first time earlier this week. Had an amazing experience and will definitely be going back. Other vet offices I’ve been too feel over booked, dogs everywhere, cars all over the parking lot, as a reactive dog owner that makes going to the vet 10x more stressful. This office was clean, well scheduled, and compassionate staff from the front to the doctor. They were very understanding of Bellamys reactivity and let me check out in the back so that he wouldn’t have to encounter other dogs. He received a diagnosis and an allergy shot the same day, and is feeling much better the past few days than he has in weeks. So happy we found a new vet that we are comfortable taking him and our other pets too.

I am trying to give the new ownership the benefit of a doubt. Dr. Hill is an extremely difficult act to follow. I wish the visits were less rushed and I wish the vet would interact more with my pets. Follow up with test results is fast and informative. Front office assistance is kind and helpful. October 2022. I would like to add some observations to my original post. Dr. Pappas has visited with me by phone several times about my pets' care. She is very thorough and very generous with her time. She is patient with my never-ending questions, and offers options and good insights into treatment plans. I feel that my pets are well taken care of here.

Every time I came here the receptionist especially was rude as well as the techs. The vet at the time misdiagnosed my pet causing her to suffer for much longer than needed, and when I switched to another vet they made getting my records sent a problem. They told my new vet that they had never seen my pets so I had to call and tell them multiple times they had seen my pet and what the names were. Finally they admitted they had seen my pet but that my new vet was asking for "some other weird name," which I knew my new vet wasn't because they had the proper name on file. The pricing is great but not worth the rude staff and lack of care.

Absolutely loved and appreciated the staff for how they respected my poor sick kitty! They were so kind and gentle with her when we came to get her tummy checked out. Being able to see her X-ray and have explained what’s going on and how to maintain healthy digestion was everything I could ask for and unfortunately isn’t something you get everywhere you go, so for me this place took the gold for service, experience, cleanliness, and kindness! Will definitely be bringing my other fur babies for their checkups

The have recently gotten new staff and redone the entire office. We almost stopped going here due to one of the previous vets being extremely rude and one of the techs handling my extremely kind and gentle dog very roughly. The new staff has been amazing and they truly care about my babies and that is extremely important to me. Also they are not constantly trying to make us pay for expensive treatments that we don't need like the previous vets were doing. I truly love this vet office now.

You guys were excellent on 03/03/23 I practically was trying to take kholie to any animal clinic in San Antonio and either was they would not see her or I was being charged to much so I call Kirby family vet and got seen that after noon and believe me the doctor was excellent and a sure me that my kholie was going to be fine and the treatment that was done to her was not expensive and all you guys that attended me and kholie was excellent thank you again for your help

As a new resident to San Antonio I was very afraid to find a new vet for my 16 year old feline baby. After reading endless great reviews I decided on Kirby Family Vet. I could not be happier with this choice! Every member of the staff we came in contact with has been absolutely wonderful. While I know my time is limited with my baby, I will continue to bring him and his brother to Kirby Family Vet! Thank you for caring as much as you all do!!!

The new owners of the veterinary office was incapable of taking good care of our older dog. After his yearly vaccinations, he experienced extreme pain and this has never happened when Dr. Hill was around. We are aware that they are in a transitional period and are understaffed, however that is not an excuse to keep your patients uninformed of the shots you are giving to your dog, and giving less than satisfactory care to the animals.

Yeah, I'm not going anywhere else lol when I say everyone is welcoming & caring, I mean EVERYONE. Always clean. It always smells great. My dog is anti-social & everyone who dealt with her was extremely patient with her & they were so focused on making her comfortable. Not a quick, dismissive, in and out. Same with my kitten, too. To finally have a home for my pets with people who actually care AND listen is everything I've wanted.

I came in with an emergency and the staff and doctor were all so kind and friendly. Prices weren't anywhere near as much as I was quoted elsewhere. They took care of my baby girl and got us back out the door in no time at all. The facility was clean and welcoming as well. I definitely recommend this veterinary clinic to anyone that needs it. So grateful to everyone at Kirby Family Vet for all their hard work and love of animals!!

Since Dr. Hill retired, the new management never has appointments available for sick animals—next available is always a week out. This IS NOT how Dr. Hill ran her practice. New (corporate) ownership only cares about the easy money vaccination visits. No empathy, and no concern for your sick pet. Save your time and call an emergency vet directly. Dr. Hill was caring and wonderful. This corporate vet is a crapshow establishment.

Having just moved into the area I was looking for a Veterinarian for my cats and dogs. Driving down the road I saw the facility and walked in. Customer service at its best! I just love them!! As someone who recently moved here from the other side of Texas, finding KFV was a God send. My baby has horrible allergies and it was a quick, painless trip to the vet instead of my normal chaos that I had to go through. Kirby Family Vet really treats you like family. The individual attention they give makes you feel as if you and your pets matter, and that you aren't just a number to them. I just recently switched to Kirby Family Vet after feeling my dogs weren't really being looked at when i took them in to my past Vet. I am so very happy that I switched to Kirby!!

My dog's health is very important to all the staff. This started from calling to make my appointment, the person answering the phone talked me through some ways to help her feel better before my appointment the next day. Dr. Pappas helped with the current situation, but also had the future in mind by showing me some issues that may arise later.

Great customer service! Dr. Pappas is very thorough and takes her time to explain every process. My little girl had to have surgery and the process went better than I could have imagined. The communication was amazing and they made me feel assured she was in good hands. I highly recommend and am so thankful I found my babies a great vet!!

The receiving Veterinarian Staff Member and the Attending Veterinarian were very accommodating to us and interacted with professionalism, care, and politeness throughout our visit. The vet and Techs are Kirby Family Vet are great. My animals were so nervous on their last visit, but they were so considerate and helped me make accommodations for my babies to be calm and comfortable. When T brought them back for boosters, they were much more relaxed, after knowing their previous visit was not so scary!

The staff is awesome, very friendly and treated my puppy with lots of Love. Helped me out with potty training tips, and informed me of how to treat my puppy correctly for heartworms. I used to bring my fur babies here when it was under Dr. Hill. Dr. Papas & her staff have not disappointed and help me with the passing of 2 cats with 1 1/2 months. I miss Dr Hill but couldn't ask for better help with the new Doc. I just wish they had someone for exotics.

Really cared for our Dog. Took the time to do an in-depth exam and explain everything. Kept in contact with email. Offered many treatment options and found out some things I had no idea about. This is hands down the best Vet I have been to. I won't go anywhere else.

The vet was very knowledgeable and made my puppy feel comfortable. It can be very overwhelming to keep track of the many vaccines a dog needs in its first year of life but the staff here made things easy to understand. Looking forward to our next visit.

My dog came out calmed. He was scared in The beginning but surely they treated him well because he did not look scared after I picked him up. He was hungry though. I think $25 fee for drop off was too much in my case.
