After hearing so many wonderful things from friends and driving past nearly everyday for the past year I decided to take my partner there for his birthday, the interior was absolutely gorgeous and the service was good, my partner and I had decided to try the 5 course menu each rather than the al a carte. I left feeling really really disappointed with the food, nothing was terrible but not once did my partner or I feel we were eating something that was something worth the high price point we were paying, the amuse Buche was fine, the venison felt like something I could’ve cooked at home just presented nicely, the bread in between courses was piping hot which we loved but the flavour itself tasted like a coles bread roll, the ravioli did not feel like it had just been cooked, ( I suspect it may have just been waiting for a while as there were quite a few others having the same set menu and they might’ve been batch cooking but I’m not sure I just know it didn’t taste super fresh ) the pork neck was again fine but not something I felt like I couldn’t have tried roasting at home, I’m not a huge fan of the panna cotta in general so I asked if we could swap the panna cotta for a chocolate game for myself but they requested an additional $10 fee (even tho on the al a carte menu it was a $4 difference) I will say they did bring out a 3 piece biscuit plate for my partner for his birthday which was a nice touch (the lemon cream puff biscuit was actually the only thing that really blew me away at dinner) the rosé we had a nice fruity flavour which we liked but unfortunately we don’t think after spending $250+ for 2 people we will be back, it’s really a shame after hearing from so many friends about this place, maybe we came on an off night we left feeling really disappointed and unsatisfied

We went to Deer Duck Bistro thinking we would enjoy a great dinner. The menu sounded amazing. We were disappointed in a number of ways : 1. We took the long course for 7 with wine pairing for 2. Not all of wanted pairing. It was for a birthday celebration . The food was only 6/10, above average. 2. Service staff was always busy and running around. Which indicates they are understaffed 3. When we sat down we thought: great ambience, we would come again. 4. We bought a birthday cake tray. All decorated on a cake stand with candles on. We were told it's going to cost us $15 per person to serve meaning $105. As we were already having 2 desserts from the menu we decided we don't need the have the cake serve but requested to have the cake so we can just sing and the birthday person blow the candles. We had clarified twice that we would not be charged as the chef does not do anything with the cake. We were presented with a bill including ,$105 cake service fees. We were then told we had to pay but Manager is willing to offer to pay half due to misunderstanding!! On a $1,600 bill we would have tipped more than what they now charged us had they not done this. We will never return ! It's just not right to charge $105 after we had clarified and when we had desserts from the menu and we only blew candles. Our birthday cake was NOT SERVED. Charging $105 just because we brought in a cake which was never served is no difference to charging corkage for a wine bottle which was never opened! No glasses had been used which justify the charge!! Rude and robbed.

Beautiful vibe and very romantic, feels like you are in Melbourne and we thought we were in for a real treat but alas … this was not our experience. We had the long menu and picked our own red wine. We started with Harry’s Magarita cocktails which were really too sweet and I couldn’t finish mine which doesn’t often happen to me with a margarita. No apology at all from the waiter and whilst they were attentive the staff were not all equally trained and some were very inexperienced. They have a beautiful selection of wines and we really enjoyed the Henschke shiraz. We were impressed with the sommelier as she was very good but she is really too experienced for this place. The food was well below par for the price, beautifully presented, all served cold, tiny portions and the flavours were incredibly average, bland and lack lustre. The oysters from Tasmania were just okay. Every course was very average and unforgettable. The vegetables could really shine more here as the meat was the main character of every dish. The dishes were all very small and we were disappointed after each course just hoping it would get better. Our favourite course was the duck leg in a lentil curry but our overall experience was incredibly disappointing as we expected so much more from Deer Duck Bistro. The desserts were ridiculously sweet and disappointing for a grownup palate. We get the impression the chef does not taste his food. We left with a very big bill (600 for 2 people with a nice bottle of red) and we went home hungry. We will never return.

I chose Deer Duck Bistro restaurant as I am a fan of duck, and the displayed review on Google maps looked excellent. However I was very disappointed for several reasons. Firstly, there was no mains of duck or venison available. There were only fixed entree style options comprising five up to nine dishes. We were told that the Google map menu was not correct, and that their own menu does not offer mains on weekend nights. I would say that this policy permitted more rapid turn-over of guests. Secondly, the entrees came out rapidly indicating that they must have been pre-prepared. They were small, not particularly tasty, cold, and contained no duck dish. There was one small portion venison dish. Thirdly, this ‘five course’ option, the cheapest on the menu, cost us $99. Definitely not value for money. Fourthly, our own lovely bottle of wine would have required us to pay $20 corkage each, while their white wines started at $22 per 150ml glass. Other reviews have commented on the excellent decor and atmosphere of the Deer Duck Bistro. I agree, however I found the service to be overly attentive, constantly interrupting our conversations as each entree arrived. In summary, an expensive and disappointing experience.

We loved this place. It was my first time dining here, but one I've been meaning to get to for years. We arrived through the bar which is a whiskey and cigar type vibe and they have a good amount of seating. The restaurant is in a house and we were super stoked to get our own private room which looked very royal! I loved the chairs! The service was above and beyond expectation and they were all so polite and friendly. The wine list is excellent with so many BTG options from around the world. It's great to see thought has gone into it and the wines aren't crazy expensive either. The food was excellent. Not one dish was disappointing. There were no explosions of flavour but beautifully balanced dishes with excellent presentation. Our group of 6 did a mix of 5 and 7 course food and wine pairings. The menu is surprisingly good value. I think the 5 course was about $95 and matching wine $75. Personally, this is one of the best value for money food and wine pairings I've done in Australia. I'll definitely be returning! Note: Our evening took around 3 hours all up for the 5 course option.

It was my second dining experience at Deer Duck Bistro and it was 5 Stars from start to finish. The place is like no other in Brisbane with it's décor and we had a dining area all to ourselves which made the girls night out even more special. The service staff were attentive, accommodating and very pleasant. We chose the short course degustation menu and ordered our own drinks but next time I would love to pair it with matching wines. Chef Enzo and his team were remarkable with their culinary creations and at times the food were too pretty to eat! Every dish was warming and well thought out in the balance of flavours and was complementary as the menu progressed. As a group we especially enjoyed the scallops and the Moreton Bay bug dishes. The service staff also provided us with adequate information about each dish and each course came on to the table in a timely manner. I feel that the entire team is doing everything right to deserve culinary accolades for this exquisite restaurant. What a beautiful experience!

Was expecting great things as it’s rated so highly on Google but sadly was very disappointed. The restaurant felt like sitting in someone’s front room, men’s toilet had no working light and the lady’s in the bar had no lock. We were asked 3 times by 3 different waiters if we were ready to order within the space of 5 minutes - each time stating we would like some more time to look over the menu. We selected the 7 course menu, however was served the first 2 dishes from the 5 course menu - missing 2 courses. We mentioned to the waitress who rectified and we received the 2 courses that we missed. Food was presented extremely well however all courses lacked flavour and were extremely bland. Long waits of up the 25 minutes between courses. Was really looking forward to celebrating our anniversary however left very disappointed after spending a lot of money on such bland, tasteless food.

Quaint little restaurant full of character as you walk through the door. This was my first visit and did not know what to expect, it is refreshing to know the team has chosen a location that is a standalone. This is also reflected in the food and drinks they serve. The passion and attention to detail is very clearly focused on providing an amazing experience for diners. The degustation menu is tasty and fresh and well-presented and a delight for anyone wanting to explore what the restaurant can offer. I was pleasantly surprised by the 4 cocktails I tasted, they were all fresh , innovative and of quality ingredients. If you are a first timer , I would recommend a mid-week visit as I am sure it would get busy closer to the week end as the establishment garners interest among the discerning public in Brisbane . A big thank you to the two lovely ladies who made our drinks and served us our meals. Well done to the team at DDB.

What an absolutely amazing and delicious experience at the Deer Duck Bistro. 5 ⭐'s without doubt. Would recommend to anyone. The long course (9 presentations) was obviously prepared with great care and attention, not only for the eye, but the taste buds. Seemingly each dish appeared to outdo the next in their combinations of flavour, only to realise the previous dish was as good or better - my flavour gills are still humming!! The atmosphere and Bistro settings were perfect, with the wait staff and somillier very well presented, polite and attention to detail. I would highly recommend selecting the paired wines option with any of the short or long course degustations. The wines were superb. This experience was my first degustation (birthday celebration) , and will be fondly remembered. I recommend any 'foodie' (or anyone for that fact) to get themselves to the Deer Duck Bistro for this culinary amazement! Huzzah!!

My partner & I dined here on Saturday 26/2/22. We were greeted and shown to our table. The setting was nice, if anything perhaps a little dark. We ordered an Espresso Martini each and decided to go with the long course (9 courses). The drinks arrived, which were not the best we've ever had. Then the food began to come out. Each serving was TINY. While each serving was tasty, it was nothing to fill either of us up. We ordered a beer each during the meal in the hope this would assist in us being satisfied. It didn't help. Once desserts came out and we devoured quickly we paid and left promptly only to visit 7/11 and grab a couple of sandwiches. In total our bill came to $355.00. This included the 2 x long courses, 2 x cocktails, 2 x beers. Unfortunately at this price we feel somewhat ripped off! We've eaten many degustations, at lower prices and feel the food was better, larger servings and much better priced.

First time at the Deer & Duck and it wont be the last. We had dinner there for our anniversary and throughly enjoyed it all. Good food, knowledgeable and attentive staff and the atmosphere was truly amazaging. Little pricey but always happy to pay a little bit more for good quality food and great service. We had the 9 course degustation over 3 hours. All of it was amazing. The crab was my favorite & my husbands favourite was Emu. I did note that some reviews stated that one or other of the meats stated on the website were not available. This is due to people not reading the very clear menu/websites. It states on the menue that it may change due to seasonable availablity of produce. Thanks again to the staff and management for making our anniversary special. We will be back.

We try out a new fine done experience each month. Deer Duck did not disappoint on nearly every level. The service was impeccable (but not sure we saw the same waiter twice), and they knew their stuff. Each dish was explained beautifully. The specials were offered with prices also which I appreciated. The cocktails were delicious and we loved the atmosphere. My partners only gripe was that the 5 course wasn't enough food. Without the delicious complimentary bread and petite fours at the end, I think we would have stopped on the way home for a snack. I was full but not uncomfortably so, so no complaints from me. The Emu tartare was the standout for both of us! Not sure if we would return in a hurry, but it was certainly a lovely experience.

The decor and lighting was nice. Overall friendly service and introduced each dish well. Ordered the long course and enjoyed most of the them however the seafood one was too fishy. One course served rare wild boar meat which made me feel uncomfortable.. can wild meat be eaten half cooked? As with drinks, it took the staff a while to realise that I have finished my drink and had the glass taken away. It would have also been nice if someone asked me if I wanted another drink. This is minor though. At 10:22pm, just when we finished the desserts and about to leave, the waitress/host just had to come to our table and tell us that they were closing. I understand that all the staff want to go home but they could have totally done this more discretely, especially when they actually close at 10:30. A generally good experience I’d say if I ignore the rushed feeling at the end.

Did we dine on the Chef's night off? We were so excited about this dining experience. The bar styling is beautiful, the staff are attentive and the meals presented were visually appealing. Unfortunately the quality and taste of the food was extremely underwhelming. Put simply, it lacked flavour. It was tasteless, all of it. It certainly left us questioning if the chef tastes his own food. Seven courses, majority served cold. The first four courses served at lightening speed(under 25 minutes between the first and the fourth) which had us wondering if they were all prepared ahead of time and just sitting in the fridge waiting to be served. I wasn't going to leave a review thinking we might have just been unlucky.... until I came here and filtered reviews to show lowest ratings first and quickly realised that we are not alone in our disappointing experience.

Superb. Visited about 6 months after they opened and again last weekend. Both times I had the long degustation menu, and both meals were sublime. I understand there's been a change of ownership, but I couldn't detect any significant difference in the quality of dishes, presentation, or service, all of which were top notch. My recent trip was Saturday lunch, which was a very quiet time. The portion sizes were excellent, as was the pacing of the meal. Our waiter was helpful and friendly while maintaining an air of unobtrusive formality. We didn't order the matching wines this time, but chose our own from the small but varied selection of wines by the glass. The food itself was wonderful - flavoursome, well balanced, bright, and often imaginative without crossing the line to contrivance. I missed two of our seven courses, but there are photos of the others.

Have eaten here many years before and decided to bring friends this time on a special occasion to try their latest degustation menu. Opted for the Short Course (7 course) menu and was not disappointed. Every course was simply delicious, only small almost insignificant gripe was that one of the 4 dessert plates was missing a raspberry but was still amazing. Presentation and most importantly taste was spot on and tantalised the palette! Staff were plentiful, attentive and responsive. Atmosphere-wise, bit too dark as you need more lighting to really appreciate the art presented before us. You definitely eat with your eyes, so something small that you can adjust. Overall, 9.5/10, highly enjoyed the experience!

This is a quaint restaurant hidden away in Auchenflower. We had dinner here on Friday night and have been previously as well. It was a great experience both times with its quirky style and great food. We had the 5 course degustation which we were worried may not be enough food as the dishes are quite small but we left feeling satisfied, and not uncomfortably full. The meals are served in an artistic way, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is romantic. There is a great selection of cocktails, spirits and wines. They also cater to dietary requirements and have a full vegetarian menu. Highly recommend trying for a unique experience.

What an amazing night. Food was beyond what I expected. And from what I had heard I was expecting it to be really good. We had the 5 course degustation with matching wines. The staff presented each meal with a clear description of what we were having and why each wine was paired with the dish. And they really were all matched perfectly. Standout of the night was that pulled pork amuse but then who could say no to that deconstructed cheesecake with fairy floss! Start to finish perfection! If you have allergies this place will take good care of you. A welcome change from my usual hassles with dining out. Thanks so much to all of the staff for making our night so special. I look forward to bringing friends and family here again and recommending to all who will listen! Thanks guys :)

It was everything I had dreamed of. Such a great experience. Everything was on point. From the minute we walked in to the min we walked out. Everything was flawless and smooth. Everyone was so friendly and warm. It was my first choice for our big night. I’m glad I made the right choice. Thanks Deer Duck Bistro. You made our engagement extra special. Thanks everyone for your service. The food was fantastic. Tasty and easy on the eye. The drinks were so delicious. Especially my Caribbean Escape. Had to order a second one. We especially LOVED the main course, so tender and rich in flavor. But everything else was equally amazing. 5 stars well deserved! Highly recommend. Again, thank you so much for the amazing night.

Great atmosphere and fantatsic service! My wife & I couldn't resist coming back! We had the long course degustation (9 meals). We even recieved a complimentary 3rd dessert just before we left, which was a tasty suprise! (Other Martić review has photos) The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable & attentive throughout the experience. They were accomodating & catered finely to my partners pregnancy requirements, replaced our pork meal for a delicious vegetarian option. The chefs did a fantastic job with their culinary art, the food was of high quality and very well prepared. Many thanks to all the staff for such a wonderful experience! We will most certainly be back again!

Hidden gem located at the suburb of Milton/ Auchenflower. We saw the great review of this place and decided to come after dinner for a drink and dessert. The bistro was decorated beautifully with a vintage touch to every little details. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the music played (Dear Duck Jazz 2 on Spotify in case you are interested too) We ordered a cheese cake. Not the traditional cheesecake you are expecting. Presentation was beautiful and the taste was just amazing. You are paying for a piece of art basically. Little disappointed they ran out of the tea I wanted. When we first arrived we had to wait for a while to get served. But other than that they service here was good and we will definitely come back to try their mains.

10/10. My partner decided to surprise me for my birthday tonight and make a reservation for the Deer Duck Bistro. Was absolutely amazing, the staff were very friendly, made everyone feel very welcome, explained the meals in great detail, and had excellent drink recommendations. The food was amazing, the portions were perfect! Lovely atmosphere for an intimate date or even a celebration with family and or friends.

My very first degustation experience - not sure anything else will top this! We did the nine course with matching wines. It was so enjoyable hearing about each wine and how they would complement each course. Great service and staff. Was worried at first that we wouldn't be full due to the small servings... Boy were we wrong! The food was delicious and so thoughtfully prepared and plated. Truly an enjoyable experience. So much so that the hours seemed to pass so quickly during our time here. The place itself was charming, quaint - darkly lit which created a romantic atmosphere. Would love to come back here for a date in the future. Thank you for having us! ~ Libby

Our second time here at the Deer Duck Bistro and we opted for the long course degustation and pairing wines for the evening. The Deer Duck Bistro has a very intimate setting. The food fantastic as per usual, the wines were matched perfectly and beautifully, complimenting the complex flavours of each course. All the service staff were knowledgeable and well versed on every course as well as on each accompanying wine. They were also very attentive and professional in all aspects of our dining experience. We could not compliment them enough. Thank you to the Deer Duck Bistro once again for another enjoyable dining experience.

Lovely night at DDB tonight celebrating my partner’s birthday. It was our first degustation experience because we are usually very cheap diners, but we wanted to try something new and it was excellent. Service staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was perfect, HIGHLY recommend the strawberry cocktail. The food was all wonderful and so thoughtfully created. We opted for the 5 course degustation. One note I will say is I could’ve been fuller, so next time I will save up and try the 7 course option. It would be great however if every diner no matter their budget could leave with a full tummy ☺️ Thanks team for a memorable night

4 of us the long course - extremely disappointed. Our plates were nothing like what is represented on their facebook page, The Service staff were great but the food was well below par especially for the price. The scampi would be the only dish i would rate as a win. Looking at the images they have and what other diners have taken its like we were short changed. The meringue had no crumb base - the pumpkin chocolate dish at the end was substituted with what looked like a quarter of a coles cupcake. The seafood dish was terrible and bread soggy as it was served already sitting in it not on the side but the worst was the three cheese pasta - cold undercook. I would not go back.

  • Karen R

Never before have I given 5/5 because I have always maintained that any place can improve, even if in a small way. However, the night was perfect. The service was attentive and friendly without being obsequious, we always had our water filled up without having to ask, wine suggestions were good, the background music was lovely and at just the right level which meant one could still talk and be heard, and the food... OMG the food was simply out of this world. We had the 5 course degustation and savoured every morsel. My one dietary request was catered for with a smile. And the decor is truly like stepping back in time. This was worth every cent for a special occasion.

  • Urn Kapurn

Decor and service fantastic, more light on the table would be great Long course, best dish was the scampi and little pasta thing. Portions are extremely small, dont except to leave with a full stomach. The complimemtary bread rolls was good and the only dish that was hot, serve it with proper butter instead of the hommus. All the meat dishes where under whelming and cold... The oysters was really good. The little treats platter at the end, well no. Nice place to visit once but that is enough. If you struggle with stairs maybe rethink your visit, the restrooms is up 2 flights of stairs.

My partner and I were gifted a voucher for a Long Course Degustation, and wow, what an experience! Having never done anything like it before (and admittedly, not being the kind of person who would normally visit a fine dining establishment), I was blown away. Each course was an amazingly designed pairing of texture and flavour. While I admit not everything in the 9-course menu was to my liking, all but two of them (in my opinion) were spectacular. The Venison tartare and lamb with hummus receive a special mention - outstanding! Certainly not a location for an everyday outing, but for a special occasion or for treating yourself, I can certainly recommend it!

  • Carol Peterson

Brought here as a surprise welcome back home to Brisbane. That was the only surprise. The quality of food service and atmosphere was better than ever. We ordered the "short" menu degustation with matching wines. The sommelier was superb. . 7 courses later ( we also had a couple of specials) we were replete. I just cannot fault this gem of a restaurant hidden away in Auchenflower. The highlights were the emu tartare and the souvide lamb. The choices below were not the current menu.

Brought my wife for our anniversary and chose the 7-course menu. Every dish was gracefully presented and well described by the staff. I loved every savoury dish. My wife only wished she had less tartare on her plate, but overall, we loved the experience. The ambience was romantic, cozy and relaxing. Perfect for what we needed that night. Their price is very fair compared to some other fancy places offering a sophisticated tasting menu, so it deserves a 5-star. I certainly recommend this place for a romantic getaway.

Last night I went to the Deer Duck Bistro for the very first time. It’s one of those places that you drive past for years and think ‘I should go there one night’. Well haven’t I been missing out. They offer a number of degustation options depending on how full you are or dietary restrictions. Each meal was presented magnificently and came with a story from the host. Along with paired wines you couldn’t ask for a better night with friends or family. All up, we were there for nearly 4 hours and didn’t even notice. I was also surprised with a birthday treat without anything being mentioned to staff. Please go here. You won’t regret it.

  • Heather M

Absolute must. Amazing flavours and textures. The only downside is the whole table has to decide on how many courses. So possibly discuss this before you go. I feel 6 worked be enough for most people. Upside is they gave us extra above the 9 course degustation, extra bread, extra dessert because it was a person's birthday to compensate plus another chocolate plate. I tapped out at 10. OMG. Allow easy 2.5- 3hrs if doing 9.

Tucked away in plain site, Deer Duck is a uniquely styled restaurant with retro elements reminiscent of a hunting lounge crossed with colonial gentry. The menu can be consumed as on a degustation in different number of plate either for omnivore or vegetarian. We chose the 5 plate option as we’re too hungry but wanted to get a true feeling for the place, plus the wine selection was delicious too! My favourite part may be the chocolate box that comes at the end, it just felt decadent and old worldly. Worth another visit in the future.

We did the 7 course degustation with matching wines. The menu was all over the place, most of it was cold which was strange. The venison was terrible, a chunk of unseasoned pumpkin on the plate with cold venison (looked like roast beef from the deli isle in the supermarket) and apricot compote! Of the 7 courses, 6 of them, were served with White wine and one with a light red! It was not balanced. Overall it was quite a disappointment Most of the dishes did not feel French!

Just a perfect daughter's choice, to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We had a five course degustation menu as the gift, added oysters and cheese, were given two complimentary additions and staggered out. The helpings are measured but those who chose 7 and 9 courses struggled. Not about quantity - the food was perfect in quality, range, preparation choices, chef hatted attention obvious. My wife was impressed and vowed to return.

My friend and I had the 9 course degustation dinner and it was a wonderful and filling experience! We will most definitely be visiting again!

It was our first time at Deer Duck Bistro yesterday. Given its prominent location, we have driven past this joint a hundred times and have heard so many good things about it. True enough, it was an amazing experience. From the interior decor, to the warm and friendly service, to the quality of its food, every single element of our dining experience yesterday was 10/10. My only regret was I didn't dine there sooner! I highly recommend anyone to give this place a go. I will be sure to return there some time soon.

Ive been here once before. It's a discrete degustation on Milton road, Auchenflower. I went for the 9 course meal on an empty stomach so I didn't quite taste the first two entrèe . The rest were paced out in 5 - 10 minute intervals so take someone that likes to talk. My favourite dish was the mushroom gnoochi...delicious! Very tasty and decadent. Just enough portioned for a full satisfying dinner. The staff were fluent and professional. Thank you

gorgeous intimate place with fabulous degustation, something that is very rare in this city. the service was prompt and helpful and the wine list was refreshing. just some small suggestions, an amuse bouche between meat courses in degustation will be really appreciated to separate the flavours. And the 5 course degustation can definitely be added with a bit more theatrical experience as compared to the 7 or 9 courses But love the whole experience and will definitely be coming back!

Deer Duck bistro took me back in time. From the moment you step in this beautifully decorated bistro you, you feel like you are in the 19th century. We had a 5 course degustation menu. The dishes were very petit but super tasty. Just reminded me that we need to enjoy the ( the small ones of course) moments in your life and learn how to savour them as if they were the last ones! Totally recommend this beautiful bistro! Loved it! ( Ask for the cauliflower risotto. It was to die for)

  • Kazumi Ki

Went here for a dinner and had the 5 course degustation meal. I was a little hesitant seeming that i myself have a large appetite! All of the food that was served was absolutely amazing! The portions were great with the small intervals in between resulting in myself becoming full. The food itself was ridiculously amazing and filled with so many great combinations of flavour! My partner and i had a wonderful time and would come back again! The atmosphere is also really cool.

Wow the ambience of this hidden little gem.. loved everything, service, food, cocktails.. my husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary, we decided on 7 course degustation but we wish we had the 9.. not because we were still hungry, we didn't want the experience to end.. we will be back for more

This becomes our hidden gem restaurant that I want to have a romantic time with my wife. It's our first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary with gift voucher from work. We have 5 dining courses. Staffs are super friendly and foods are amazing. All antique decorations make you feel that you are in a movie.

We love the decor & romantic atmosphere here (our second time). We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 coarse degustation. The food was beautifully presented, delicious with complex delicate flavours. A wonderful mix and balance to the flow of courses with some surprise extras thrown in. The duck fillet, foie gras macaron & orange ju was to die for...but, everything prepared to perfection.

Experienced the 9 course degustation with wine pairing. Each dish was incredible and had elements of traditional and modern flavours and concepts. Service was great and the layout was very romantic and intimate. Clean and well kept with air conditioning. Recommend skipping a meal before the degustations as I struggled through the last two courses. Absolutely worth it though, and will definitely be back with friends.

  • Angus Scown

We celebrated a birthday for lunch recently. The staff were wonderful in helping us organise the day. We had a degustation menu and it was a wonderful experience, first time for many at our table. The highlight was a emu tartar but equally other courses were other’s favourite. The atmosphere is wonderful . The furniture and decoration make for a special outing.

The food was mostly excellent, though I wasn't a fan of the dessert. I did not like the decor at all. Too dark and a bit pretentious. It was also far too quiet. Good food shouldn't mean a quiet, snobby ambience. It almost felt wrong speaking above a whisper. Not my idea of an enjoyable dining experience.

It’s not in the middle of town so there’s not that stress of trying to find a bloody park that miles away.

Staff were absolutely wonderful and extremely friendly. They took the time to explain what every dish were and regularly checked on customers how the food were. The food was impeccable. Pricing wise, the dishes weren't cheap however the quality in which the food were presented and tasted definitely far exceeded expectations. Overall, I was very satisfied and would recommend others to dine here.

  • Aidan Roberts

Amazing food, great service and fine dining without being pretentious. We went there for our anniversary dinner and had the long course degustation with matching wines. The venue was a little different - a converted house - a little dark but great for a couples dinner. Definately great food and service without the pretentious feel of the CBD or riverside restaurants in Brisbane.

  • Paul Mifsud

There are plenty of fine dining restaurants in Brisbane but this isn’t one of them. Beautifully presented food with mismatched or no flavours. Well trained but impersonal staff. A business well set up to make money not satisfied customers. I’m told this was once a 5 star restaurant now it’s sadly a 1.

This place was a spur of the moment decision and it did not disappoint. Clara's service was spectacular. The food was to die for. The cocktail selection and quality delicious. The taste of the ravioli lingered in a way that had me craving more.

The atmosphere was great. Beautiful setting. Servers were very lovely. However, food left a lot to be desired. I had the vegan option for 5 course degustation and many of the courses were basic and could easily be created at home. It was good/okay but didn't have any wow factor. The wine pairing was very nice.

Went to Deer Duck with a Group of 8 colleagues and certainly left impressed. If you go on a Saturday night you are required to get the degustation menu. However, we did not leave disappointed. All courses were fantastic, but the clear highlight to me was the Deconstructed Poppy-Seed & Orange Cheesecake - it was absolutely delightful! Will return again!

Everything was excellent, except...we felt deceived ...we had a pre paid 7 course meal and the at the beginning of the meal we were given an option of bread and cheese or oysters to start.....which they charged us for as a $32 extra. this deception tarnished an otherwise excellent experience.

Amazing , sophisticated food, elegant decor and ambience, charming and attentive staff, delicious cocktails. Overall one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Brisbane, but possibly only for a very special occasion with the time to appreciate each of the dozen or so thoughtful elements on the plate that lend each dish its distinctiveness.

  • Tanvir Kapoor

Loved it. Service and ambience are a perfect 10. Food was delicious and interesting. Not at all pretentious. I especially loved the wine pairing, and Kristina even sent me a list of the wines the very next day. It all combined into an extremely pleasant experience, probably the best degustation in Brisbane. Very special place.

  • Brett Moloney

Great staff, good service. Great cocktails. Great ambience and decor. The food looks amazing, but honestly was underwhelming and quite bland. When asked what was my favourite dish I was hard pressed to think any memorable beyond the desserts and cocktails. I don't like to leave negative feedback, the food needs more punch.

  • Ged gedk

Go elsewhere. Food was laughably tiny servings hot dishes delivered cold.... Wine selection was laughably small. Polite staff and great atmosphere for venue. Been to many meals like this. Worst value for money I have ever experienced.

Great experience for our first anniversary. Had two amazing cocktails in the bar prior to dinner. Then opted for the 9 course degustation with paired wines. Excellent service and the wines were well paired. Ended the night with a complimentary course and rum and chocolates as the digestif. 7pm to 1045pm.

  • Daniel Mason-D'Croz

Tried one of the tasting menus. Creative small plates. The chef experiments with various flavour pairings and the dishes are beautifully presented. The dishes show a lot of technical excellence. I really liked the cauliflower risotto. Ambiance is cosy, chic, and on the darker side. Service is very good.

The food was nice, the ambiance I didn’t love, too dark and couldn’t see what you were eating very well and the price was very exy! I think there is better degustations in Brisbane that are better and aren’t as expensive. Also the staff weren’t overly friendly.

The best degustation I have ever had and the vegetarian options are just as good as the meat. The cocktails were also some of the best I have had and the service was professional while also being friendly and warm.

Decoration and atmosphere of deer duck bistro is great. We loved their cocktails and most of the food on the long course. The duck and fio gras macaron is so good and you can't find anything similar in the town.
