Honestly felt like a criminal, I was in there smelling Glasshouse candles that I was going to buy. I was holding one of the mini ones ready to buy and was just smelling them I think I was in there for a good 20 mins smelling them when one of the workers came up to me and asked if I needed any help which I then politely declined and kept looking. She then proceeded to stick close to me and was making me feel uncomfortable (she was not there until the last few mins of me being in the glasshouse section and had already pointed me as a thief) so I put the candle back and went down the escalator to leave. I then see an advertisement for a product I was wanting which was on level 4. As I was walking towards the elevators on LG I see the security guard from the level one following me. I then went up to level 4 and 2 seconds later the security was there pretty much stalking me while I was looking in the skims section. I looked at him and it looked like he got worried that I saw him watching me. I felt like I was being stalked and it made me feel so uncomfortable. I then looked at him again as he got closer to me and then he again looking anxious himself because I knew that he was watching me and then he left talking on his radio. (For some context I was wearing a see through bag and a jumper with no pockets on it) I also work in retail so I understand when someone looks suspicious but when you follow me up 4 levels it feels like stalking I would rather the security just come up to me and check my bags instead of trying to hide himself and watch me.

One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had in my life. This afternoon I went to buy a dress for a wedding coming up so I went to level 3 designer. After finding a few things to try on I tried finding a staff member to help me with sizes. The attendant (who I had to flag down myself) was unhelpful, rude and incredibly dismissive. I thought maybe that one attendant was just having a bad day so I flagged another one down. Again they were rude. I asked whether or not it was possible for a bigger size in the rachel Gilbert dress I was about to try on, I was met with “we don’t stock sizes this big”. I am a size 10. I then finally found a change room and was met with banging on the doors halfway through me changing to “you have to be quick another person needs to use the room”. When I walked out the attendant told me the dress didn’t fit and I needed to vacate the change room as another “paying customer was waiting”. I ended up walking across the street to the rachel Gilbert flag store and bought the same $1000 dress from them and was met with a beautiful, helpful service attendant. David jones you really need to sort out your service model, after years of shopping here I will never ever be returning and after reading previous reviews this seems to be an ongoing issue.

Had a very bad experience with the click and collect system today. I've tried a $295 cloth in store at lunch time and placed order online. I was looking forward to pick it up after work, so I selected click and collect option. But there's nowhere reminding me clear that the order gonna take so long to process. When I get to the counter wanting to pick up my order, the lady saying it is not ready yet. I tried the exact cloth during lunch time and it is just RIGHT THERE. When I suggested if I can just go to the store upstairs to finalize the order she instantly says NO it is not possible and I'd have to pay as a new purchase and have to contact the click and collect to cancel the order. What a wasting of my time! I've been shopping with David Jones and been paying $295 annual fee for their credit card and this is the service they have. Very disappointed with this click and collect system. The whole point for click and collect is just for me to get it earlier rather than waiting for 3 days delivery and now I need to WALK THERE again to check if the SERVICE CENTER had got my stuff from their 'click and collect' team only.

My review is in regards to the David Jones website. In early October I tried to purchase a product using a gift card and paying the balance using a credit card, 10 mins after the purchase i received a email cancellation notice and when i called customer care i was told that my bank had rejected the payment (this is not the case as it showed as a pending payment on my CC) and i was told i had no choice but to wait 10 business days for my gift card to be reimbursed and in that time the product was no longer available. After waiting over a month for the item to come back in stock i tried to purchase the item again and of course i get another cancelled order, i called customer care again and no one can give me an answer as to why the order isn't being processed and of course there is no way for me to purchase over the phone or in store as the product is sourced directly from the supplier. It now makes sense why I was able to obtain more David Jones gift card credit than other stores that offer the same products, this will be the last item i purchase from this company.

Had a very unsatisfying shopping experience at Chanel, with a sale person called Patty. Her tone, the way she looked at me her and body language during the initial conversation were rude. For the same request you will need to repeat it several times. She has been asked to give an apology, and again, she was being rude. She crossed her legs, and shaking her feet, and look up the ceiling with sighs when me was trying to explain that there should be no excuses for her showing all these attitudes. Again, she replied that’s her natural tone and natural look. Managers from Chanel counter and David Jones called, however, all I have been asking for was just another sincere apology from her, in a written way if she can’t show a proper one in speaking. Manager said yes this is something that they could do. However, there was no further updates regarding this issue, people who has been contacting initially are no longer responding, even after this issue has been “escalated”. Just really disappointed with the sale experience and post-sale customer service.

Sunday, I received rude customer service that i never seen before at any Dior store. It was very disappointing and I can't understand the attitude of your Staff name Yehni or Yeni. We entered this store after waiting, Yeni came infront of us without any greeting or smiling. When my wife explained the bag were looking for, I asked again with a puzzled look, and after seaching the website on my phone and showed her, she corrected me by changing the bag name and words. Bad expression and not a single smile the whole time i was buying and paying. It was my wife's birthday so we went there to buy a gift and came back with a bad mood. Thinking of canceling and buying it online but wanted to buy it on the day of no birthday. It's a service that could not be seen at any Dior store or David Jones in Sydney. I was happy with all other Dior stroe in the Airport and the castleleagh st stores. Dior management or David Jones management team need to improve their staff training please.

Went for the Annual Spring Flower exebit Sept23. Wasn't advertised & I could see why. Was a bit of a letdown compared to a few years back. There were barely any flowers to be seen. Even the external windows were done on the cheap, & was disjointed & there didn't seem to be any theme. Bought an orange almond cake. Was as dry as dry heavy & difficult to swallow, nothing like the moist cake with syrup that it is traditionally supposed to be. Used to work there 55 yrs ago when Charles Jones would come through & there was a sense of specialness. A different time of stockings & smart attire. Wondering if becoming a Mart shopping due to so much online available now. Just the name. Not like I could even go & have a nice lunch or afternoon tea there. 2nd floor was like a jumble sale, no fashion to be distinguished. Will go to the Art Gallery instead.

It's a really nice fancy departmental store, with most of what you need. Many big international brands through to local designer brands, can be found here. The food hall is large and vast, with many eateries also housing themselves here. The entire mall is connected underground to Westfield side of things, through to the train station. They do run promotions from time to time, so do look out for those newsletters. That said, it's more a generic place if you're looking for things, like how a departmental store is supposed to be. If you already know what you're looking for, I'll suggest you go directly to the specialty brand stores elsewhere instead of coming here.

  • Sharon Free

I recently visited the Sydney city store for Saturday brekkie and shopping in the food hall. The cafe has a good basic menu and my scrambled eggs were really excellent. If your looking for foodie Christmas gifts you’re sure to find something here. DJs has a comprehensive range of both sweet and savoury packaged and fresh foods and you can design your own Christmas hamper. The quality is really excellent. I’d say the layout of the hall could be expanded by removing the small kitchen appliances section, but other than that it’s definitely worth a visit. Get there before 11am as it gets really busy.

Beautiful renovations but extremely poorly trained staff I was on my break, getting ready to spend over 200 dollars on a bra, when I asked the staff member in a completely empty store if they could help me with sizing. I was told to look properly and all the stock is on the floor??? This is the exact attitude I have been met with nearly every time I’ve shopped at various David Jones stores. A luxury shopping experience it is not. The staff would rather brag to me about how much they’re getting paid on a public holiday or chat to each other than help a customer. A real overhaul is needed.

  • Angela Marian Silverwood

I was visiting your Castlereagh St store from New Zealand and I was wanting to buy and be properly fitted for some bras. I was referred to a lady by the name of Jian. Jian not only went out of her way to take my size, but she went that extra mile to make sure that it fitted properly everywhere where it should. She made sure that I felt absolutely comfortable in wearing it. This woman made me feel like I was a valued customer who had every right to be in a reputable store such as DJ's. Thank you so much, Jian, you made this customer feel terrific! Angela

2day ago… My wife bought Chanel Eau de Toilette Spray 100ml (Pink one), she got the pink box with sealed it looks ok. Today morning she unseal then open the box!!!! it is Orange one in the box.. she very disappointed with it. So we came to the Chanel shop and tell them that story and we hope to change it “not return it “ however staff at Chanel and staff David Jones(Georgia) just said unfortunately we don’t have policy to change products for customers!!!!! We were shocked with this service from Chanel and David Jones

  • Linh Thai Dieu Do

Worst customer service ever!!! I had a disappointing customer service experience on Level 7 near Mach & Mach at 7 pm on Thursday, 2/11/2023. I encountered some issues with the service. The lady with red hair was slow in getting my shoe size, and when I returned the shoes because they were uncomfortable, her response was rather disrespectful when she asked if I didn't want them. I don't understand why David Jones hired this staff - rude, disrespectful, unprofessional!!!

  • Jane N

Condescending, rude service from designer level shoes deapartment near the service centre Ken and his colleague. No solution was provided, busy tasking and when asked to grab some sizes for shoes, reserve door was closed really loudly and shoe boxes was thrown onto the counter loudly too. Was in a rush so couldn’t speak to the department manager. Such disappointing service especially when the floor was not at its peak 22/11/23 between 6.15-6.30 PM

  • Hoai Nhung Le

I just want to give a big shoutout to Maggie in Level 6 at Anthony Squires. She absolutely went above and beyond so we could get the perfect suits for our big work day, spoke to the tailor to get everything done right, came with us to find a suitable shirt. We've never met this level of attentive, genuine customer service in our lives. Hats off to you, David Jones! And to anyone reading, we just hope that you will meet a Maggie anywhere you go.

  • Lee Delaney

Staff overload everywhere.. I met a lovely lady in the food court who wondered why I was taking pictures of their beautiful food & green bean displays . Great choice of takeaway food pre theatre. The best? This delightful Piano Man playing a baby grand near one of the exits. ● DJ'S..Move this man into a more central area where he can be appreciated by ALL Highlight of my day..he was playing 'A spoonful of Sugar'

  • Ivanka Boyd

Just when you think service couldn't get worse, it does. Why have promtion sale when there is nobody to serve people. Only tourists are looked after and the rest, who cares. It's all good and well to chase tourists $$ but what about us who are always there? I was asked to come back another day. I was served at the end but it was terrible experience and not the first time at Estee Lauder counter.

  • Ben Naftzger

Amazing department store that plays up its impressive heritage. Did you know Queen Elizabeth II visited this store on her first visit to Australia and Dior hosted their first international show outside of Paris here too! Great kids section on level 9 and my wife likes to get her hair blow dried with a view of Hyde Park here too! Amazing fresh produce, cafes and fresh juice bar and more on LG!

  • Dan K

Fantastic department store with everything you need from a good sale item to something ultra luxurious. Huge bank of lift that run super fast. Store is very clean and all staff are super helpful and friendly. Nothing is ever a issue. Had zero issues navigating the store in a wheelchair. For street wheelchair access to the store the entrance on market Street is the one you want to use.

David Jones offers diverse products across multiple levels, primarily tailored towards women's fashion. However, the selection of men's sunglasses is relatively limited compared to the extensive women's range. The store provides a refined shopping experience with quality products but may not fully meet the needs of those specifically seeking a wide variety of men's eyewear.

  • Penny Christie

David Jones in the city has a huge range of beautiful products from all the big named brands. The food hall is packed with lots of grocery options as well as cakes, pastries, seafood and sushi. You can also buy fresh flowers, fruit and vegetables and fresh bread. Sale time is great especially at the end of the financial year in June. You can grab some great bargains.

  • Laina Mariano

Love coming here, especially during the holiday season. The store is beautifully decorated and gets me into the Christmas spirit. They carry so many brands, so I can do my shopping in the one place. Staff here are very accommodating and approachable. I came here last week and a lovely girl at the makeup counter colour-matched me and helped me pick out a foundation.

  • Nikita Dhulekar

Good collection of clothes and shows. I often shop during sales. Definitely visit their cosmetics section during black Friday sales. The staff is unhelpful. They neither know their stuff nor willing to help you. 5 staff told me that store was about to close but none was in sight when i needed help. Smaller stores are better with regards to customer service.

  • Stephanie Booth

This was a truly delightful Christmas experience. The window display was so much fun and quite magical. The kids level was out of this world. There were amazingly immersive zones where you could feel a part of different worlds like the 100 acre wood, star wars universe, marvel and Disney princess castle. The staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable.

  • Joanne Mourched

Im so disappointed, I went to Christian Dior counter to purchase hypnotic poison EU de toilette , , I specifically asked for toilette as I prefer that to the perfum ,the girl ,let me smell the toilette but she sold me the 100ml perfum for $279 , im soo upset. I've mistakenly opened it . How unprofessional. That's thievery. I'm so very disheartening.

“Helen Kaminski” store locates at the level 1 in David Jones department store. And it is a part section of multi stores at this floor. Displayed items are limited with popular items, so checking items you may want to buy should be worthy with staffs. Staffs are professional and helpful. Products are fantastic and elegance as expected. Recommended.

  • lachlan harris

Spring has arrived with flowers in the air. DJs has bloomed with spring flowers for years. It offers fantastic fragrances, as well as delicious foods. The cheese bar offers the best gruyere I’ve tasted. And the hot chocolate is a treat. Men’s clothing is a little wonder, and I’d go back for the range of Levi’s clothing. Don’t forget to mask up.

  • JM “HighwaterTrouser87” Asmolo

The location of this place alone in the centre of business and retail district, easy to find and everything is accessible by a short distance walk. It is close enough to some big shopping area like Myers and most of the luxury and ultra luxurious store like Zara, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Chanel Coach and many more.

  • Janson Cheng

First time visiting this David Jones, very surprised and impressed. Old style charm layout is different to other department stores with more defined areas for different brands, kind of like how overseas department stores are like. Really liked the old style lifts but falls short from a practical perspective.

  • Catherine C

Best David Jones I have ever been to. If you're visiting Sydney or a local, you MUST go. Go to every single level. This has become one of my favourite places to visit while in Sydney. Highly recommend! Extremely clean and organised, each level is like it's own department store, plenty of helpful staff too.

  • Vira Dolgushyna

It was my first visit to the David Jones food court (sitting restaurant). I like David Jones and respect this company. However, the food we had there was expensive and ordinarily. The steak was overcooked and chewy, the salmon salad was drenched with vinegar. I hope that the quality of food will improve.

  • Yvonne Cummings

Had a lovely experience at the designer floor recently, as always David Jones is the one stop shop in the CBD for everything. I was searching for shoes and a shirt for my Husbands birthday gift and the staff were ever so accommodating. Pavlos on level 6 was so kind and knew just what I needed. Thank you!

  • Veronika Dolgushina

It was our first visit to David Jones food hall (sit down restaurant). The food I hasten to say was ordinary, I loved David Jones , but I was let down by the quality. The snitzel was overcooked and chewy and the salmon salad was drenched with vinegar. Although, the service and the fat chips were fine.

  • mayo lee

Edward meller staff was very rude and unprofessional, I’ve had great experiences in shoes section before, this is unexpected. I said hi how are you and she didn’t even look at me. Beautiful shoes but I don’t think I’ll come back to the city store. Staff at bondi store was much more welcoming.

  • Ermi Mendoza-Isais

The stores and food hall always have such beautiful and elegant displays and merchandising! The customer service was so great when I had a gift wrapped, the lovely lady who served me gave it to me free of charge. Great range of food in the food hall. I recommend the pasta - best beef ravioli!

  • Mike H (Hadsafeed)

I love going to this store to buy our fragrances. The service I received from Cheryl in the level 1 fragrance section was the best customer service ever. She is so friendly and gives great recommendations that you wouldn't have considered. Cheryl is a treasure to David Jones Elizabeth Street.

  • SG

Great store and very friendly, prompt, skilled and helpful staff who do their best and go to great lengths to assist customers. Definitely recommend visiting this store for any David Jones purchases. Chris, Sebastian and Bella in the men's footwear department were awesome. Thanks.

  • Dyun Abitria

Love to shop at David Jones, they have everything I need, high fashion and food. Staff are helpful and accomodating, they go out of their way to help me, kudos to David Jones! Also, make sure to visit the cafe at the lower level, they sell really nice pastry.

  • Ritz Bitz

Conveniently located near Hyde Park and St James Station. David Jones is having a sale right now for many of their items. I especially love that they have a Fortnum and Mason section in their food hall, and also the cakes and breads counter.

  • Fang Liu

Loved this store! Has everything you need, and each floor is well organized. Very pleasant shopping experience. Top floor has kids department, with face painting to keep the children occupied while parents can shop in peace / help one kid

  • C P

Food is ordinary but quick. Chef is the only one working with any form of professionalism. Absolutely dreadful service. What little staff there is, they look like this is their first shift in hospitality. Manager needs a kick up the bum

  • kate smith

Absolutely appalling service in the shoe department. Could not get anybody to help And whilst I waited 5 people left due to absolutely nobody on the floor. They were all out the back giggling and very rude. No wonder I never shop there.

  • J T

Such an elegant store. The staff were extremely kind, helpful and generous. Especially the guy at the Kiehls counter. Sorry I don't get your name. We went for the flowers which were wonderful. Putting it on the calendar for next year.

  • Marco Nero

It's another world in the David Jones city store. So much to see and so much to experience. I was sent on a fragrance hunt three times this year and several of these items were almost exclusive to David Jones. Over three visits, I

  • Ronald Inderadjajanata

Went to Van Heusen for a refund and was served by Alex, who just started working there for a week. He was very helpful and showed me around. He helped buy 3 shirts in the end, very happy with his service will come again to see him!

  • Cameron Joe

Had a bad experience with one of the staff at the watch section. I asked about a few watches and one of the staff acted like I couldn’t afford the watch and responded to all my questions with attitude. It was a terrible experience.

  • Dee Maguire

The service on ground level (homewares) is exceptional. Grace (wonderful staff member) went out of her way to locate the merchandise I was after. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Great department store & highly recommend.

  • Nick Booth

Beautiful store, lovely and knowledgeable staff, fantastic range, good prices. This store is a national treasure and reminds us of the pleasure of in person shopping. Long may it outlast the online worlds.

  • Rosa Mirceski

Lovely customer service from the staff member on Level 6 named Parwiz. I rushed in store just before closing to get a tie for an event tomorrow and he was professional, kind and accommodating.

  • Sabrina Potter

Beautiful store has expected for Sydney CBD. Well presented and felt like an art gallery. Thoroughly enjoyed window shopping here. Staff were friendly and the store felt super modern.

  • So Yeon Kim

I just wanted to give a shout out to the Dior make up stand - The lady who was working there yesterday was so so lovely. Wish we got her name so we can give a proper recognition!

  • L K

Had a really awesome experience at the men business shirts (Ganton). Harley was the sales assistant and he was just a lovely, friendly genuine person. Thanks Harley ☆☆☆☆☆ for me.

  • Lee - Smilee Design

Great branch. Pleasant shopping experience. We got taken very good care by one of the staff Maureen. Very lovely lady. Told us information that we didn't even know before.

  • Nick D

The store is mostly quite lovely with a great range of products. I was greeted on each level politely. The young lady in Longines watches knew her products well.

  • ying zammit

I went to dior cosmetic David Jones on Tuesday 17/10/23 I got served by Mayer. She is the best nice service friendly Lovely lady Highly recommend to go there

  • Nicholas Gotsis

I love David jones but, it really needs to reinvent itself again. It needs to look to stores in Japan and Europe to see how retail is done on a large scale.

  • Robbie Cannings

Just went in for their snickerdoodle and biscoff cookie dough. Sometimes they have it, sometimes they don't. I was delighted to find it here on this visit

  • Maggie

Unbeatable customer service and range of products unseen in other stores. The sales assistants go above and beyond to help you find what you need.

  • Pete D

Such an iconic store, beautiful lay out and has an old world charm. Definitely aimed at the higher end of the market, but serves the market well.

  • sam katz

Had Riri help me with a suit for my wedding! Was ready in 1 day and fitted perfectly! Highly recommend great customer service!

  • Kerry Corkill

A disappointing visit their Christmas windows are the worst I've ever seen. If that's the best you can do DON'T bother.

  • Artin HB

Its biggest store in Sydney and beautiful, almost there is most of brands. Finding parking it’s not easy at all.

  • Fern Moore

seems nice. but I really miss the old food section in the previous building. it was so unique and classic ⅚
