I had not pleasant experience. Because I knew I had redeemable fly buyer point which I was going to use in the service desk, I asked the staff there with my items from Coles. I used the point before in Coles at Glenorchy. So I knew how it works as far as I had my physical card with me. Apparently, staff in Sandy Bay store wasn't sure how to make it redeem. They said it might take about upto 24 hours until I would get my pin number, which was thou the app said it would take upto 30mins. Whoever would be want to get bothered to use if it'd take about 24 hours if I already picked up my products? I said them I knew how to redeem kindly to the register and asked them to click the button of pay as eftpos. And it did work. The point is, I told them kindly it worked like that as I used it before in Glenorchy. But, they were so arrogantly saying that it's depending on the store which didn't make sense AT ALL. I headed off after saying nicely bye them because I knew they wouldn't say sorry or at least friendly but rude. Please, this is irritating. Don't treat customer like that.

I have just been at my local supermarket Sandy Bay Tasmania, and I am very frustrated at the experience I have just had. Why when doing self service (where I do the work instead of one of your employees) MUST I now scan 1 item and then have to place it in the bagging area before I can scan another item? This is a relatively new requirement at this store and if I have 2/3 items its frustrating, if I have 4 of the same item I MUST scan and place in the bagging area every single one of the items before I can proceed. More than once I have had to call and wait for an available assistant before I can proceed. Frustration.

For the family "grocery outing", 'tis a great place... we must park underneath, so that the elevator can be used. Thus, buttons get to be pressed. What fun! A variety of shopping baskets/carts are on offer so that the kiddo can select how he wants to shop. As for the actual food/variety/shopping... well, it's fine. (we do Hill St on-line weekly which is A+++!!!) - but for a once-a-month-top-up of the extra junk you need... it's fine. Selection of self-check-outs (again = fun!), and/or regular checkout lanes... all good.

Good specials & service. Only negative waited for trolleys to be unloaded from lift & when I got in the lift reeked of smoke. That always makes me nauseous. First review was 2 yrs ago. I went to Coles today, parked underneath in the last bay along from the click & collect. Got out and smelt smoke, the amount of littered butts scattered was an absolute disgrace. I rang their ph number to ask someone in authority to come down & look, I rang 3 times but no one answered the phone.

This is my regular supermarket for grocery shopping. Staff are friendly and the layout is good - though it is taking me a while to get used to all the recent changes. The changes at the front of the store make it much easier to get in and out and use the self check registers. The new carpark layout is also much easier to navigate. It's a slightly smaller store, but still has good range. Soft plastics can be dropped at the front counter for recycling.

Very centrally located Coles in Sandy Bay. Has got a big parking area for vehicles. The Coles also has a wide selection and variety of fresh produce and various other items in stock. Very clean and organised aisles with friendly and helpful staff if you need any assistance required to locate any items. It's also open early and till late as well. Would 100% recommend a place to grocery shop any day.

I just passed by in the street, never went in. The carpark wasn't full, just a little bit. There was no noticeable rubbish strewn around but frankly I didn't check that carefully. I might go there if I'm looking for western groceries . The Wing and Co store we went to was able to provide all manner of Asian/indian/Japanese culinary needs

Only one star because the staff member was really nice. This is the worst Coles supermarket in the world. I hate going in there and get out as soon as I possibly can. It is so badly laid out and oppressive. Update 2022 This is still the worst laid out supermarket I have seen. December 2022 Still the worst Coles supermarket in Australia

Went to this store twice. Just for cigarettes. Waited in line only to have two people that walked up be served before me and the second time I had to wait whilst a customer had $250 worth of shopping put through. Wouldn't have washed at my store we would have told him to go through the registers. But the staff were friendly.

Coles Sandy Bay is a delightful store. With all your needs and sensational customer service, where team members will always go above and beyond to help you out. The small store makes it convenient and easier to do your small or big shopping. Over all, always a great experience and amazing produce.

  • Jefri Yang

Amazing grocery store in Sandy Bay. Huge retail store! Has everything that you needed! Place is tidy and clean, staff are friendly, and also the store is easy to locate as it is on the main road. Huge parking lot. I’ve been to this store quite a few time. Make sure you stop by and check it out!

Horrible experience! Don't buy any bread from this store. There was a foreign object in it which was so hard that my tooth broke and had to be removed. I made a claim and they didn't help me at all. Now I have to get expensive dental care and have to run around with a gap until it's healed.

Hi Ive been going to Coles in Sandy Bay first with my mother, then for the last 20 or so years on my own. NEVER had a problem. But feel comfortable knowing they would honour their words. All the fruit and veg are in bettwr shape then the other one in Sandy Bay. I recommend Coles Sandy Bay.

On many occasions i have gone too the deli section.one particular staff member always looks like he really has no interest in serving. There,s no hello .you almost have too ask would you like too serve anyone. Ive given up and only go too that section.when he,s not there.pretty.bad.

  • M M

There's no entrance on the main road side of the building. Very confusing for the walking tourists... You can only get in from the parking lot end - go from the left side of the building. Once inside, it was still confusing. But, the service was friendly.

  • Noel Brodribb

Not too crowded. Young checkout personnel. Why do they stuff the bags so full when we always carry more than required? The recycled plastics bin was overflowing. The basement car park was leaking in the rain, the upper level needs resealing.

  • Elizabeth Kelly

Do not get your online deliveries from here, I had one driver who lied about turning up (I was there at the claimed time of delivery and nothing happened) and then when I spent 2 hours on the phone to Coles and door dash to convince them my

  • Sithikar Por

Don't like what they did with moving everything around and that the isles are from end to end (instead of having a divided section in the muffler, like they used to). Overall, usually has everything I need, so it's got that going for them.

  • Geoffrey Francis

Previously I have been very happy with this store but on my last visit the system refused me the $10 off for 2,000 points. Staff not interested in resolving the issue. Phoned Flybys call centre but they were no help either. Not impressed.

  • Terry Dando

Visited Coles Sandy Bay at 6:35 pm today to purchase a BBQ chicken. There were no chickens available and despite a sign saying ‘No chickens available? your next one is free’ the deli staff said “No we don’t have them because the deli has

  • A J

Very disappointed with the chicken I bought, first drumsticks a month ago and now thigh. Both stinked like a dead rat literally. I don’t know if it happened only with me but they really need to keep an eye on those products. …

  • Dan Graham

Great customer service & recent updates to the layout inside the store have assisted with a smother customer flow. I feel the design of both carparks require more work however understand that they are dealing with a tight space.

  • Rosemary Hounsham

Its tricky getting into the car park. You have to keep sharp eye out on other drivers suddenly reversing out. Store was not as well stocked as usual. Also some areas the presentation could have been better. I got why I needed.

  • Lyn Minnucci

Not good, cashier too busy chatting to others. Had to wait a long time as he seemed not to be able to talk and scan at the same time. Worst checkout ever. He did not care that we were waiting for long time. To me that is rude.

  • Kathi

Excellent selection of dried fruit and nuts. Easy parking. Plenty of variety. I just wish they simplified the floor layout, with up-and-down aisles instead of different sections. Not as easy a layout as at Woolies.

  • luke. mote

Great place to shop, has good range and 5 min from university and short walk to waterfront/Park if your after a nice meal by the river grab some things from coles and 5 minutes walk can be at barbecue on the river

  • sampath karunarathna

I was looking to buy a bbq sauce and found out two bottles expired in October 2022 and one bottle expired in February 2023. Informed a staff member and he removed it from the isle. Always check before you buy.

  • Kazi

Coles is a good choice for daily necessity. Sandy bay cloes has more varities than other in the town. Coles always put V sign for vegetarian which helps the vegetarian people to choose the product easily.

  • Juan Sanchez

Its like you chose the worst person you could find to be at checkout. This guy working there today found the worse way to put things in the bags. Such disregard for customer’s items. Disappointing.

  • Asha Kurup

Good Coles! Enough parking outside store and wide selection inside. Baked goods limited compared to other stores. Layout is a bit confusing but you can still find everything. Self serve available!

  • Ben

Went there to ask if the 20X Flybuys points offer for Apple gift card purchasing available in store or not, received a answer with “not sure about that”. What??? Yes or no, simple as that.

  • Sebastien Robin

The ultimate go-to spot for toilet paper and tins of tomatoes South of the CBD. Big turnover and open late. Seafood section is often worth checking out. Disclaimer: current flybuys member.

  • LJM

Very well organised and one of the ladies working there actually went out of her way to check to see if there was something they were missing was at another store. Great customer service.

  • TasView Photography

Carparks both up and down are cramped but is a good supermarket for the weelky shop. Seems consistently cheaper than others and generally quicker service unless you happen to hit a rush.

  • Jess

Went on grocery shopping and forgot to bring my wallet after scanning $50 worth of food. Luckily Rakshya assisted me and put the order on hold. Big shoutout for her and Coles team!!

  • Toby Paynter

Nice location parking is a Little small for a big supermarket of overall layout of the store is not the greatest but still good specials and great prices as expected from coles.

  • James Hart

No good avocados and the stupid woman at the counter chatting to her friend rather than serving! You only get 4 starts because I get flybys and my groceries are reasonably good

  • gak

This morning there were no human checkouts. Everyone had to go through the tiny self checkout, even with a huge trolley full of food. If i see this again I’m not coming back.

  • davidson osahon

Coles offer you variety of shopping option, also Coles is well organised, likewise security tight, shopping there is done comfortably hence cashiers are very consistent.

  • Ian Lewis

It's a supermarket. But they often have too few people serving and don't have the self-service registers open for whatever reason. Don't shop here if you are in a hurry!

  • Garry Southwell

Wonderful new manager. I pick up day old food and deliver to Loaves and Fishes. I’m in the Sandy Bay Rotary club. Coles is so generous in sharing with those in need.

  • Mark Northcott

A good Coles that's a decent size with a wide variety of brands. Better than Woolies when looking for different brands eg small that don't monopolies the shelves.

  • Vaman Gungaram

Friendly staff. Really great parking compared to woolworths across the road. I find myself dropping by usually very late at night to stock up. Very convenient

  • Cool soccer mum

Smells really good and once I nearly wet my pants but one of the staff told me to go to the McDonald’s toilet (which was epic) so the staff are very helpful.

  • Skye

Good varieties. Bought many things from it and didn't have to wait for long to checkout. Just across the road from my accommodation, so convenient …

  • Michaela Halton

This is our family regular supermarket for grocery shopping. Staff are very friendly and the layout is good. The new car park layout is easy to navigate.

  • Stan Wilkinson

  • Positivitrip

Excellent selection and the roasted chicken was awesome. Poor in bread though, couldn't find nothing about wholemeal or seeds and such. Sad

  • Andrew Aird

  • Michaela Humphrey

Good supermarket, well stocked. Definitely more of a local though, not great for really big shops because the conveyors are too small.

  • Amanda Thomas

Very friendly and helpful staff to newcomers to the store. It was Christmas Eve and very busy but they still took the time to chat.

  • Grahame

Staff all over the market are always friendly and helpful. Reasonably Fresh produce, and good choices of all other stock every day.

  • Sherri Nolan

  • Eddy Duffy

Great Coles Store, probably better than any other I've been to. Good layout and wonderful fresh meat and fresh produce …

  • Amy

the parking is ok, but the shop is easy to navigate and the signage is clear. there was no wait for the self checkout

  • Diane B

Smallish store with a large variety of stock. Still has quite a few staffed checkouts. Off street parking available.

  • Jack Wilson

Congratulations to the worst supermarket where the shelves are empty and you can't find what you are looking for.

  • Ken Richards

A quite well stocked Coles with ample parking. Helpful staff. We got what we needed quickly and we're on our way

  • Caleb Chandler

Can get busy and the self serve checkouts area is miniscule, with the small trolleys blocking the whole area.

  • H D

Goods are almost enough for necessary but a price a little bit higher than Sudney, maybe because island fee

  • Ali Mitwari

Very busy, not as much variety as new town or glenorchy. But still good. Central location.. easy parking.

  • Graeme Cee

Average Coles but has most things. Convenient if your transport is limited, but New Town is much better.
