Self checkout makes me want to scream. 1. Not enough space, can't fit a normal shop (not very large) on the bagging area. If you have a trolley it causes jams with other customers. Alternative is to queue up at one of the two open attended checkouts behind people with full to overflowing trollies and taking even longer. 2. Checkout errors out when you bring your own bags. Even to start I have to call for help to use my own bags. 3. If you dare to remove a full bag to fit the rest of your shopping that is falling off the sides - bagging error! call for help! 4. Checkout errors continuously for random reasons. Each fresh produce I bought needed manual override as it seemed to not recognise when it was placed in the bagging area. 5. Only one staff member helping every self checkout with inevitable needed assistance. 6. The poor staff member helps then leaves to assist another poor soul leaving you immediately with the next error and waiting for them to cycle back before you can proceed. Why haven't I learnt my lesson and just stuck with woolies the market stalls or any alternative..... maybe now I have.

The carpark makes me avoid this place like the plague for starters. From John St You are funnelled all the way through the busiest parts of it, bypassing the bays at the far end you just wanted to park in. Then when you want to turn right to get to those bays you CAN'T. So the only way to access them is from the main road. You have to plan your approach and exit like a heist. God forbid you had other things on your mind or were coming from the wrong direction.. The constant congestion is due to the poor design and could easily have been avoided. I hate to think how many accidents have happened. Current shortages aside the Coles itself is so often out of things, especially Specials. This is particularly frustrating when the only reason you braved the awful carpark was for a couple of good specials and they are out of both. And a lot of times things are on special it mysteriously turns out there's something wrong with it. I am sure most people dont have the time to go returning things and Coles at least makes some money by getting rid of all the dud products.

I have been shopping at Coles in Kingston for the past 26 years and can remember the 'old Coles' before this one became the new-U-beaut-Coles. Now we don't have to struggle getting our shopping trollies up a steep incline to the car park, it's an easy stroll across to the cars that can park pretty much at the front doors. Up until two years ago I went into Coles just about every week but eighteen months ago I became disabled and unable to drive my car (which I had to sell) and so phoned and asked did they deliver shopping orders. Oh my word, YES, was the reply and so for the past almost two years I have had my shopping delivered. It is very, very rarely wrong and I have only had to ring once to get something corrected. The people who deliver are friendly and willing to bring the shopping in and put it in my kitchen for me. I don't get around a lot any more so their bright faces are always a pleasure to see at my door. I wouldn't have anyone else.

Literally everyone who used self check out while I was there needed help because the self serve machines would mess up and make you get assistance, happened to myself included. Only 2 of the self check outs had bags available the other 10 or so only had $3 reusable bags. When I asked where the normal bags where, the girl replied "they are scattered around the area, you have to go find one". So I awkwardly approached a random lady using the self check out, and asked her if she could please move so I could get myself a bag. I'm only leaving a review because this has happened many times to me in the same store. Woolworths is definitely a step above with self serve and I will continue to be a woollies fan.

Zero stars! Front desk couldn't get anyone to help me get a product that was out of stock on shelf (called the dairy staffer but no one showed up), didn't take it on themselves to help me, ended up walking off as I was getting nowhere. Checkouts were understaffed and staffers on checkouts couldn't have moved any slower. Ended up doing what I hate most at self checkouts... and checked out my own full trolley.. The shame!.... Even with checkout errors being corrected I checked myself out faster than the conveyor checkouts. This was out first visit in about 2 years, glad we did it.. As we now know not to again! Saturday about 2pm.

The manager of Coles in Kingston is an unprofessional g-- p---k. Went for an interview for nightfill, and almost 3 weeks later, he hasn't had the decency to tell me whether I was successful or not! I obviously wasn't. He even cut the interview short as soon as he knew that his boyfriend was knocking on his office door! Maybe the people who actually do nightfill should take notice of where the deodorant is because the smell of body odour that eliminates from them as you walk past is putrid! Woolworths is the place to go because at least they are courteous to the general public!

I used to shop at Woolies for years but switched to Coles a few years ago as I always seem to have minimal if any wait time for a human operated checkout. Unless I only have a few items I refuse to use automated checkout to support employment. This store is clean, not massive but usually well stocked with a good selection and often an option on special. To my delight, the Coles brand "urban coffee culture" ground coffee is not only cheap, rainforest-alliance certified and Australian roasted but strong and delicious! Tases much better than some of the more expensive options.

My first visit to Coles as my usual woolies didn’t have parking. I walked in with trepidation, but to my pleasant surprise, an absolutely incredible legend of a human being appeared my away. Her name is Ella and she was the most charming, funny and enthusiastic employee I have ever come across. Ella was just an absolute delight that alleviated the mundane and tedious nature of weekly grocery shopping. Coles (Kingston) should be Kingston’s pride and joy and dear Ella Harding, you’re the reason why! That’s why I pick Coles (henceforth).

0 rating!!! After shopping their today Coles had no cooler bags for frozen food and the poor young girl on our register asked the supervisor to find some for their customers walked along about 3 registers said nu can't see any and couldn't go out to store room to get some how f*+/-#g lazy also supervisor is a very unwelcoming worker when on register duty I'd avoid going their as I won't be any longer not to mention the shocking parking we were rushed due to a customer wanting to hold up cars to wait for our spot

  • Agus Susanto Prajogo

This is my main destination when I need to buy some groceries. Come early in the morning so I can grab the discounted / reduce to clear fresh produce items. Only one draw back of this shop is, you will get dead spot where there is no mobile signal - around the corner of frozen food and the youghurt shelf. I need the connection since I want to check the recipes for discounted items the one not in my shopping list Have good experience shopping in this supermarket.

  • Alex

Better fresh produce than the local Woolies. But has a terrible store lay out and tight isles. Usually have sufficient staff and you don't have to wait too long to get through a checkout. Plenty of self service checkouts too. Annoying fiddly weighted checkouts that always error and think you've bagged the wrong item. (prices seem to have risen rapidly in the last few months, hard to get a weekly shop for our family of 4 under $300)

  • Jac Charlesworth

Good sized Coles. Great fresh produce, good meat section. Car park can be pretty tight/busy but in general this is probably the best of the main supermarkets in the area. They have a good range of trolley options including wheelchair friendly and an large child/disability trolley. There's a restroom nearby, easy access and clean. There's also a few other shops in the complex including eateries/coffee, a pharmacy and bottle shop.

  • Nice Day

Shopped there as usual with my plus one of 27 years paying again hundred thirty dollars and lo dirty look from cake eater when I ask if her day hectic as she was alone very run off feet. Then I went home. I only go there now because in taken there. Ill nrvr shop with you agsin. How much for one have to let thrms3lves go to get and hero that job.

  • Marianne Triffitt

OMG, JUST HAD TO LEAVE ANOTHER REVIEW. I WAS JUST IN COLES AND 3 BOGAN DRUNKS WERE WALKING AROUND SWEARING AND CARRYING ON AND ONE WAS OPENLY DRINKING A LARGE GLASS OF BEER. I TOLD AN ASSISTANT AND SHE SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING SHE CAN DO ABOUT IT!!! NOW I UNDERSTAND ABOUT OH&S BUT BEING ALLOWED TO DO THAT IS DISGUSTING!!!

  • Alyssa Woolley

The click and collect service is terrible, always waiting and not all staff know what to do. Takes forever, some days it would be quicker to walk around the shop. Definitely applaud Hill Street for their brilliant service on this form of shopping experience. They should show Coles how it is done.

  • Mark Kitson

The staff refused to serve me at the express checkout register instead forcing me to use self serve. I left my items and will never use this Coles ever again. What has happened to customer service. I don't get paid to serve myself so I expect a person to serve me. Is that too much to expect

  • Dawn Kirke

Best supermarket for older people. Not so far to walk from 1 end to the other. Their specials are great too.would be nice if they had a multistorey car park though. Only thing i dont like is that you have to travel to blackmans bay to get the 4 cents off per litre for petrol.

  • Radomir Kobryn-Coletti

Coles (and woolworths) are the most un-Australian businesses destroying the lives of farmers and serving up terrible produce at ridiculous margins. No, please visit a local grocer or farmers markets and avoid this corporate giants. Nothing fresh or tasty about their produce.

  • Maxine Drew

Wool worths has a much better range of Gluten free products and in a concentrated area. Asked staff they said gluten free sausages or English muffin or ice cream they had none. Area marked makes gluten free was biscuits, chips BIscuits. Very disappointed

  • Rochelle Antcliff

It's almost like they actively wish hypothermia on their staff. When it's cold outside no efforts are made to warm up the store so all employees are stuck in naught but their uniforms, freezing as the polar winds blow in. It's surely a safety issue.

  • Dianne hodel

Love this Supermarket,So easy to get about especially when you get to know where everything is + build up your flybuys points & its a great surprise by the end of the year to get your turkey & ham free with points, its great, zip in & zip out …

  • Annette Foster

Had a successful shop, I went get sugar free biscuits, but they had lots of specials for things we regularly use. Friendly cashier and a lovely lady in front of me at the cash register to chat with, beauty of living in Tasmania, friendly people.

  • Naveen Karunathilake

Staff with less experience on the counters on busy weekends. We have been over charged for an item which was on special today. Informed the staff the price of the item, showed the price mentioned on Coles online still we have been over charged.

  • Johnathan Hobbin

I find the parking to be limited unless you park at other locations close by. Store is handy if you are purchasing common items but limited in variety. Staff members were polite but hard to find when needed. Having sales reps/marketer's at

  • Dawn Gridley

Staff generally ignore you in store. The range is poor especially with bakery goods. The only checkout open is often the self serve. Only go to this centre of you really need to. Otherwise drive the extra 5 mins and got to Warner shops...

  • James Moore

They have recently completed automated the checkout area, so there's essentially no possibility of being served by a person, so if you're doing a big family shop, enjoy scanning 60 items through self serve, what a perfect way to alienate

  • Mark Maumill

This is our local shopping centre. The carpark is a little small but the Bread Cafe makes great coffee, their is a BWS, chemist, small docters surgury, a couple of small takeaways and a Coles. The Coles has great customer service.

  • Daniel Mason

Coles got rid of the free fruit for kids by head office's instructions. Guess it was eating away at their $1.1b profit while their CEO gets paid $3.3m this year and 3.7 million Australians can't afford to eat #notAustralian

  • Courtney s

Went shopping one night and got followed around the store and was made to feel like a criminal I didn't appreciate it at all when they wanted to check my bag after i had spent $100+ will not be going there again

  • Claire Renaud

...like Woolies food less expensive that a small market ... A review about a market who makes is own price and doesn't care, and decide of the price it will buy from farmers and small companies. …

  • Mark Lo Schiavo

Always an impressively clean, fresh and friendly store. Excellent range of products in the delicatessen, although cleaning vinegar and coffee whitener not available today. Some good specials today...

  • Maralyn McVilly

  • Solarstorm flare

Nearly bought a fruit juice mix that was 6 DAYS past the use by date by accident. I tried telling someone but they were all too busy to listen. Still, usually this coles is a good one.

  • Peta Clark

Always been a coles Kingston shopper, Never wait in line, everything I need. A tad bigger range in a couple things would be great so I didnt have to bother with Woolworths.

  • Bronte Freeman

There is barely anyone in the floor. They have so many checkouts but barely any staff on them. Apart from that the set out and everything else was great …

  • Ian Moriarty

Probably the worst Coles I have ever visited in our extensive travel throughout Australia. Surprised at the lack of aisle signage and product location sheets.

  • Anna

Not allot of parkimg, they have recently "upgraded" the checkout area and as a result have only 2 check out tills where you can be served by the staff.

  • Malcolm Guy

The store was clean and the staff were friendly. The prices were good and the trolley was shiney. I just couldn't find the price check thingy.

  • Timothy Ozimec

Large, well stocked supermarket with staff aplenty. The main downfall is how long the queues can get, even when not during peak hours.

  • Narmina Hasanova

  • Brendan Dunning
