I don't think I could even give this place one star. I don't believe this long-time market, which is one of the symbol of Vietnamese community in Houston, responded really badly to customers. Today, I bought a bag of citrus orange. I didn't realize until I cut the oranges that all of those were bad. They were all inedible, bad smell from inside. I went there to complain and ask for a refund since in the receipt, they said it could be returable within 24 hours. However, the old lady at the cashier (maybe the manager, they didn't even have a customer service counter) was very rude in response to my complain. They said no refund for fruit but nothing said on the receipt. They didn't even show the sign on the fruit shelf saying no-returnable. They just said "no-return" without giving a provable, acceptable rule or paperwork. They didn't spend time to listen to my complaint. I don't believe this market has still existed for over 10 years with this kind of disrepsectful customer service. I also think they import goods from unreliable source and put in the bag with reputable trade name. This is horrible. Do not go there to buy food or things. This is a disater if this market still exists.

It's rare to see a landlord putting two supermarkets in a same strip mall. The competition between those two businesses has been fierce that benefits the consumers. Tan Bình is the outcome of a feud with Thanh Bình after the owners decided to part ways - so said the gossip. With that said, Tan Bình is a mirror of Thanh Bình except it occupies the space of a brand new wing of the strip. Being rebuilt from the ground up, it gives you a good feeling when you walk thru the doors. The layout is user friendly so you can navigate thru the aisles with ease. Plenty of inventory, hundreds of different name brands for you to choose from. The "món ăn vặt" section is so tempting to the ones on that weight watching diet! Fresh products are also plentiful: produce, meats, fish, etc ... Their pricing is a little tricky since they are competing with Thanh Bình so you have to watch to see which of the two is cheaper. In my case, I don't really care since I've never spent over a $50 in groceries before. I just don't want to drive around town to save $1 or $2. Overall, a good place to "make groceries" (a catch phrase from New Orleans).

Rude customer service.!!! I don’t want to say all but that specific lady at counter 1 made me never want to come back this place again. I went to this place on Sep 9th, 2021 around 5PM. I got a bottle of honey was labeled as “$2.49”, even my friend came with me saw that. When I got to check out, it showed $20. I just politely told the lady ( wore a white shirt, station 1) that checked me out to put it back because It was only $2.49 on the shelf. She got mad at me and said “how do you think this one will be only $2, you should have read before getting it.” I got really mad but didn’t say anything because she is older than me but she doesn’t have manners. I’ve been to this place since their previous one and never be treated like this. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE.!!

Went to buy guava and 3 condensed milk. Paid and got to car. Noticed i was missing condensed milk. Came back and showed cashier recipe. Upon film review... someone else had taken that bag that was still laying at the cashier packing area. The cashier lady at lane 1 said it was my fault for forgetting the second condensed milk bag. But it was the packing boy who forgot to hand me the second bag! On top of that... cashier lady was mean. What a rip. At an American grocery store... there would be no question... i would be able to walk out with 3 different condensed milk. To blame me for forgetting the bag is ridiculous. Never shopping here again.

I tried coming Thanh Binh once and I checked the business hours before going (y’all should update business hours!) As soon as I got to the door the lady rudely direct to me they’re closed and repeated herself like I didn’t understood. I wanted to give the sister store a try. I normally go to Tan Binh. a lot of ppl I know goes to Thanh Binh but that will be the first and last time.

The store is decently clean comparing to other asian market. However, be careful with the foods to go. We sampled multiple items and almost all of them expired with rotten taste or smell. I dont think they refrigerated the left over items. The food inspection agency may need to pay a visit to this place. STAY AWAY from FOOD TOGO items if you shop here!

  • M K

a family run Vietnamese grocery market that is fairly new newly built/expanded during the pandemic. should go here vs the other markets on Bellaire or Viet Hoa etc less crowded, fresh produce, meat seafood etc and even fresh "homemade " food to go good sized ample parking lot as well no need to go to the other markets and fight for a parking spot

  • Jack Quach

New Asian market.. That's all that's good. Prices are outrageous.... I think they think consumers are stupid but Check out their prices.... 6 cans of Coco Rico is 6.99... 6.99??? That's more than Coka cola... Are they crazy? Go Hong Kong.. Prices are probably half there... Also T. Binh owners look at you like you owe them something.. GTFO!!!

  • Kathy Noble

Hot food is good but I have seen bugs flying around stay on food ( do employee care about hygiene?). If you buy hot food watch out these fly . Their groceries prices are higher than the Hmart, Viet Hoa. I see only Hmart groceries 90% have stamps expire date, almost Asian supermarket they don’t put expired date on item sales in stores

  • Porto Opinion

The store does have varieties: veggies, daily fresh snacks, desserts, fresh cut up tropical fruits, fresh seafood, meat, dried noodles and other Asian groceries. There are two reasons I dislike about this place: a little bit pricey compares to Hong Kong Market and Viet Hoa; and the shopping aisles are too tight for me.

Scam alert. Bought a box of rambutans here today (9/4/2022). They had two types of boxes, a fresh box of rambutans for $30 and an old one for $20. We bought a box of fresh rambutans. When we got home, we discovered that the fresh rambutans were placed on top, but the bottom was filled with old fruit. Shameless!

  • amanda huynh

HORRIBLE service and overpriced fruits! You can buy dragon fruits at Sprouts or H-Mart much cheaper and more fresh. The dessert area is overpriced. They charge you extra for coconut milk that should accompany Xoi pancakes dessert anyways and the manager up in the very front booth is RUDE. Never coming back.

  • Michael Faught

I'm from austin and thought we had some cool and fairly clean Asian markets but this one is way nicer and most of the same stuff. The one thing Cho Tan Binh has that others in austin don't is all "fast food" options I was glad I wasn't hungry when I went in because I would have tried alot of items...

  • connie doan

I bought uncooked fishcake on Saturday afternoon 2/9/2019, on Sunday I made seafood noodles with that fish cake but it was already spoiled & sour I got diarrhea... I came back to tell them about it But one of the sister who own this market yelled and had an attitude with me. I was so

  • Vinh Ho

Midsized Vietnamese supermarket, fully stocked, but without the crowds and long lines at the bigger markets. The new location is larger, cleaner (for now) and more registers for faster checkouts. Not the most competitive on prices, but good place for quick shopping with the full options.

  • Calvin Luong

Tried to shop here for small grocery. Couldn't purchase due to a company self interest policy of minimum purchase of 10$ when looking all over for that policy sign. Can only find a crinkled up note that say that far from the register. Most things are overpriced. Will avoid if possible.

  • novapearl

Best price, friendly service. I went to heb trying to buy a couple of 4 crab fish sauce bottles they listed a couple months ago for $3.99. Now they want it at $6.99. Thanh Bình offers it for $3.99! The owner shówn me where it is being shelfed so i do not have to waste my time.

  • Lil Asian Grocery LLC

While I am not Vietnamese I was quite impressed with the extensive variety and the built in cook food section. Definitely a place to go and security was out and about very helpful and happy to see him though I felt quite safe already. All sorts of fresh meats, veggies etc.

  • Anh Le

The worst Viet market i have ever seeen!!! Even i am Vietnamese here and i just cant stand how unprofessional and rude customer service they have. Items got expired but they faded them out and put on the brand new expiration date!!!! Jesus ‍♀️ Shame of them! …

  • Julianne Tran

Love their herbs and veggies section especially the small portion of basil, chives, sawtooth cilantro for $1 or $1.50. Just enough for a dish I want to make. And the pig innards for an appetizer when guests come over. So many. Choices for a quick gathering …

  • Hang Nguyen

came early at 9am on Sunday..the only lady at cashier look like manager or owner is SUPER rude. She even yelled with me when I put my card in the machine early before she asked me to put...She couldn't even say the WHOLE sentence with customer...HORRIBLE...

  • Andy Le

I don’t see how some people’s can give this supermarket five stars. It’s must be friends or family members. The food quality almost rotten and it’s way over price. Compare the price and quality products with other supermarket next time you’re there!!!

  • Diana Poon

Nice and clean Asian grocery store with lots of different countries goodies . Takes time to walk down every aisle to check things out. Ready made food on sale too. Clean environment and some English speaking staff

  • jordana Tran

Be careful when buying at the deli, lady drop a piece of meat on the floor, pick it up and put it in the bag. I have to tell her that’s not right for her to throw it out. Disgusting !!!

  • thai nguyen

A good place for you to buy asian though primarily Vietnamese grocery and a great place to buy pork as it doesn't give off the stink pheromones like smell that U.S pork tends to have.

  • Richard Duy Dang

One of the small in size but not in the quality market. Prepared food is VERY good (meat loaves, porridge...). Fresh, raw food is good, too. Price is OK, for the quality.

  • Jullee Kanjanabout

I don't shop here often bc the only thing i would buy is the fast food to go but only on the weekend. Other then that the store have this funky smell that i don't like

  • Hey You

Super and extremely stinky and dirty! Again, I don't know if the city of Houston ever does inspections in these places, I've seen rats and roaches all over the place!

  • JK D

dirty market. There are 2 main cashiers don't say thank you to their customers, don't smile and always have a cold look on their faces. Very crowded for small place

  • Bao D.

Very crowded, and everyone disregard the social distance guidelines. What worse? There was a lady serving without a mask while laughing and talking. Horrible store!

  • Damna919

Super cool market we stumbled upon on accident. Doesn't look like much from the outside but its so cool indoors. Very nice and helpful staff. Great shop!!

  • S Tr

Fruits and vegetables are not fresh. Prices are not marked on items until you pay so don't know how much they would charge. Probably won't be back

  • Edgar Taylor

New experience here. Nice clean facility and well stocked. We enjoy shopping here. Have found items long looking for. You should visit here soon.

  • Angelina Le

It’s very nice and clean, but it’s pricey compared to other major grocery stores in the area. The meat and seafood area are limited.

  • hue pham

If your looking to run in for a quick pick, then this is the place. Price wise compared to other small market is on the high side.

  • Henry Ung

Great selection of stuffs. Organized and clean space. Lot of items don't have prices listed though but they are usually good deals

  • Jayden Pham

Way overpriced... 65 for fig tree, 30 at lowes. 90 for Lemon tree, 45 at Hong Kong Market. Overpriced but not even fresh food...

  • SuSu Pham

Very poor selection. Very rundown and dirty. Try to stay away from 'sale' stuff as they are often already rotten or getting old.

  • Michael Nguyen

Many different ethnic foods. Fresh veggies and meats, poultry beef, pork. Decent prices. Safe place to shop. Huge parking lots.

  • An Dang

Typical Vietnamese small grocery store. Once in a while, they have good deals on instant noodles and fresh produce.

  • Lyanna Le

My grandparents love coming here, variety of selections. Much smaller and easy to find Items compared to HK market.

  • T T

Be careful of this store, they will overcharge, you will have to watch them while they ring you up at the register.

  • L N
