Yesterday, I noticed my male cat’s bathroom habits were out of the ordinary. I don’t normally go to a vet - more of a pop-up clinic gal. However, I knew I needed somewhere that wasn’t going to delay me for hours before seeing him, to avoid the risk of a fatal complication. I called around to see if a local clinic had space to take us in that moment, along with fair pricing. After 2 other establishments were full, I landed on AHPC. I could tell they were busy in the background, but still invested time for my case. Leslie spoke with me about Cat’s condition/behavior, and described the sequence of procedures they might undertake. She also provided approximate pricing, asked me if I was okay with their current drop-off policy, assured me he’d be seen today, and confirmed that I could come in soon after that call. Upon arrival, I spoke with Lauren while completing my new patient forms, providing additional information about his food habits, and medical history. About 20 minutes after arrival, I left my feline companion and went home to worry, haha. Dr. Amber called me twice after my check-in, apx. 2 hours after drop off, to let me know the results of the initial procedures and what next steps/tests they were planning to take. She recommended two possible treatment options depending on the result of the sample, and advised me of a time when I could come pick him up after he awoke from mild sedation (another 3 hours). I knew he would have to be sedated, haha, and was aware and confirmed the price earlier. 1.5 hours later, I received a follow-up call with the diagnosis. She walked me through the recommended prescription foods, and provided in-stock sizes and prices. She also recommended I continue monitoring his condition, and return in about 6 weeks for a follow-up. I came in around the time originally mentioned - though I’m thinking I should have come a bit earlier, as my cat was predictably hissing at everyone. The receptionist that checked me out - so sorry I missed your name! - was very patient and informative when I asked for more details on the prescription food available, also notifying me of their online store. Finally, every pet owner’s nightmare: the bill. It was actually a very fair bill! (Maybe I shouldn’t disclose this. ;)) But— It shows the staff are understanding of folks’ situation, even for being in Alamo Heights, while not discounting the quality of care they provide the furry patients and their families. I can say wholeheartedly, and I think with the traffic of pet parents coming and going during both trips, that this will be my go-to clinic for even my routine wellness checks (FVRCP, Rabies). It was very nerve-wracking to think of this appointment, let alone during the current global situation, but the process from start to finish was a breeze and very prompt. Thank you again so much AHPC!

I very rarely leave reviews like this but in this case I felt that it was necessary. I would NOT recommend this vet to anyone. We’ve had a number of issues since we started bringing our pets here, there seems to be an issue with communication or documenting what needs to be done, I’m not sure exactly what went wrong but I’m not happy. My husband and I both work full time so it’s easiest for us to board our pets over the weekend so they can get caught up on any vaccinations they might need. In this case we ended up boarding them for no reason because when we went to pick them up NOTHING had been done. We are moving out of the country this year and it is important they receive certain vaccinations in a timely manner, I had discussed this in detail with the attendant at the counter, I gave her the list of all that was needed for traveling out of the country and yet when we picked them up they had no idea anything needed to be done! They had asked if we would like to get our pets bathed, I requested our cat have a bath while she was there, and they must have done it in a rush because our poor cat was still soaking wet and shivering in her carrier when they brought her out! Not to mention they then had to rush all of the vaccinations that should’ve been done over the weekend. I just feel so bad for our pets. The people have never been very friendly, our pets were terrified every time we went in there, hopefully this doesn’t happen to other people but needless to say we will NOT be going back there.

This place was wonderful and I used to feel so grateful that I had found them. However an update to their whole management , front desk it has all become a hassle now. Requests for appointments, records etc take forever…as a matter of a fact they don’t happen. I understand being short staffed & likely exhausted from burnout but to have the audacity to state “we don’t have your contact information on file & we didn’t get your email to process your request “ thus putting the blame on the customer rather than simply taking ownership of having dropped the ball is what really upset me because not only do I receive WEEKLY newsletter from them but I not only called but also emailed my request, so they had my email and just a month ago I received an email from them. I also know that they have all of my contact information because I never had trouble in the past until about a little over a year ago. And it’s not just in receiving vaccine records but also in getting Rx refills the delay can be understood but what is unacceptable is the lack of ownership from management and front desk staff for either not being diligent in obtaining contact information when a request is done, not requesting updated information during a call or simply not being able to complete the task and having an old school post it system rather than a more efficient updated way of processing requests.

I am new to the area and had been searching for an integrative vet. I was told by the receptionist when making the appointment for my dog with chronic allergies that I was seeking out alternative treatments and she assured me that the vets at Alamo Heights always recommend natural before allopathic. I said are all of the vets like that? She said yes, they are all trained the same way. I had to drop my dog off in the morning (the vet techs were very nice) and wasn’t allowed in with her due to covid and then it was about 8 hours before I received a call with an update. When the vet finally called me the only recommendations she had for me were steroids and antibiotics. I was so disappointed and asked her if she had no holistic recommendations to add? Her response was that she’s not trained in herbalism / Traditional Chinese Medicine. This was very disappointing to hear after the long wait and what the receptionist had told me. She said they only carry Standard Process, which is a “alternative” supplement line, but if they have no knowledge of herbalism that kind of defeats the point in my eyes. I hate to leave a negative review but I would also hate for others to have the same disappointing experience I had. False advertising :/

I love it here. The staff is great Dr. Kirby is awesome he’s done a lot for my doggie. We came in (with an appointment) because my dog was paralyzed she couldn’t move and the vet we took her before didn’t do anything for her. They took her in they did X-rays on her and they showed us all the results, told us what was wrong with her and everything they keep her overnight they do therapy on her and so far she’s getting a lot better… before she couldn’t even stand up or move her tail now she’s standing (with a bit of help) and she wagging her tail. Dr. Kirby calls us everyday to tell us how she’s doing. You can just tell he cares for all of the pets here. He’s been very helpful and the staff cares for her so much too they’re the sweetest. They’ve done so much for her we are very great full for everyone here and what they’ve done for my doggie. We went from heartbroken to our hearts being filled back up again with hope… thanks to god for leading me to my doggies groomer Vanesa she’s the one that told us to get out of Becker and to come here. If it wasn’t for her my doggie probably wouldn’t be with us right now. For ever great full. ❤️

Alicia refuses to help me and my dog when we arrive. She'd rather ignore me and make the people behind me wait,.It's not just one time or 2 times it's every time I go in. Don't you wanna be professional and don't you want the animals to go first this is your Job be professional it's ridiculous. if I didn't like the vet so much I would go to another veterinarian but I'm not Going to let one sassy receptionist change my mind. Alicia is rude and disrespectful . She made me feel i was crazy and i didn't know what was going on. I had a cat that's in need and is sick and she decided to be rude to me and treat me with so much disrespect that I left crying why would you hire a person like that at a best wonderful vet clinic. You don't know How a person feels that day when their baby is sick and you're trying to get help for them and they just want to sit there and argue with you not professional at all. The vet clinic itself is wonderful doctor Aldridge is number one in my book she takes great care of my pets and the other doctors there are wonderful too. Wouldn't wanna take my pets anywhere else.

I cannot remember if posted a review so I am making sure I do. Dr. Kirby is one of the best vets I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The back is a bit chaotic with dogs on the ground, in surgery and in cages, but Dr. Kirby knows what he is doing. He works extremely hard and is so compassionate and extremely intelligent. He takes time to speak to you about your pet even if he had another urgent matter. He tries his hardest to fill you in when he can even after hours. My doggy may he RIP had some type of tumor inside his nose that no other vet would investigate without putting him under who refused because he was a senior and it was dangerous. Dr. Kirby was the only one who did it with alternatives with my baby awake so he was not in danger. It is very hard to find good caring vets in Texas, but I will always highly recommend Dr. Kirby. He is a beautiful soul inside and out and it makes me tear up to know that good people like him still exist. He is an Angel. I owe him for trying to help my first love. Vets do not get the recognition they deserve.

  • Tanya Phelps

One of the best vets I’ve ever had to take a pet to. We sadly had to put our senior dog to rest because of cancer. I had taken her elsewhere when she first showed symptoms of the illness and that vet had the bedside manner of a wet sock. He offered nothing except for a bill. A friend recommended Dr. Kirby and I took her to see him, even though I knew her prognosis wasn’t very good. When the time came to put her to rest, he was there walking us through what would happen, and made sure she was as comfortable as can be while the procedure took place. He also ensured my husband and I were there for the whole procedure and let us assist with simple things. I will definitely be bringing my other dog and cat to see them when it’s time for their check ups and other care. We’ve never had to put one of our dogs to rest before, but I’m glad we did it here.

  • Christina Martinez

It's nice to be contacted by the vet while my sick cat is there everyday. I liked how I could get a same day appt, as in they said I could immediately bring him in. I liked how detailed they were about everything and answered my questions. I will always bring my cats here from now on I was weary about going because heard of the not so nice front desk people but everyone seemed efficient and got the job done. Nobody was rude or seemed unprofessional but maybe greet or have sign on desk saying Please be seated; it was my first time there, and nobody acknowledged me like a smile or hello or to say be seated. I understand why some people would say they're rude. No one was. Just maybe not clear on what the process of checking in was because no one said anything to me.

This is the premier veterinarian office in Alamo Heights, if not all of San Antonio. Dr. Kirby has a wonderful reputation and a great bedside manner. He makes you and your pet feel comfortable and taken care of. The other doctors are great too however, it is the office staff that leaves something to be desired. The vet techs are great but the women at the front desk are very snooty. They act like because they work in Alamo Heights and for Doctor Kirby that they are better than you. They seldom make eye contact and never smile. When I am waiting in the lobby they carry on these long personal conversations with each other, often talking about clients. I don't need to hear that stuff. I will continue to take my dog's there but I wish they could make some staff changes.

  • Sara Kay Thompson

I began going to Alamo Heights Pet Clinic after I had an emergency with my dog. The emergency hospital suggested Alamo Heights Clinic and I became a loyal customer. I am one who believes if one company works well with another, it is much simpler for the two to communicate and get the job done than initiating a conversation which takes time. Both the emergency hospital and AHPC were hand in glove. I have never had a bad experience. The reception staff are always professional and personable. The veterinarians are thorough with immediate follow up on blood or urine tests. They take time to communicate to the lay person what is going on in simple terms. The waiting room may be a bit small but it never smells of a Vet’s office.

  • Sheryl Hernandez

I was referred to Dr. Kirby and I am so glad I took my cat, Oreo to be neutered here. The staff is absolutely wonderful! Even when they're busy they are courteous and kind. They answer all your questions and are patient. Dr. Kirby I didn't get to meet but he called first thing after procedure and morning after to ease my mind that my fur baby was okay. Next day after Oreo being home, I called the office with concerns, asked to spw Dr. Kirby and he promptly returned my call. He took the time to address any concerns and even called the next day yet again just to check on him. They are great caring people that will undoubtedly treat your pets as if they were their own.

  • Dave Bongiorno

The vets and groomer are top notch but the staff are abysmal. Rude and uncaring, they seem to revel in making you feel unwanted. Despite complaints and bad Yelp reviews, nothing changes. Dr. Kirby, the owner, is a wonderful vet but he needs an effective office manager to run the show up front. The lobby is chaos, and you'll swear you're invisible to the folks at the front desk. We've been a customer for 20+ years but I've reached my limit and have moved our pets to another clinic. Bottom line: Dr Kirby is very talented and cares greatly about the animals in his care. If you're willing to trade poor customer service for his skills, this is the place for you.

  • Samantha Lord

Recommend for vet services. NOT FOR GROOMING The vets and front desk staff are always amazing. The drop off lines in the morning can be long but they try their best to get everyone checked in in a timely manner. The three stars is for the grooming. I've had my dog groomed (bath and nail trim) twice now and it's never been a good experience. They never cut her nails and the 2nd time they had cut some(which were bleeding) , some were broken, some weren't even touched. My dog also started itching severely after her bath and I decided to wash her again and saw suds coming off her fur when just water was applied. They didn't completely get all the soap off.

We took our pet to Dr. Kirby and his staff after our primary vet clinic closed permanently. I was very excited to get our dog in after reading many positive reviews. I took our pet in for a new patient exam as well as a routine vaccine. While he was there, Dr. Kirby took care of one of his ears that needed to be cleaned out. While picking my dog up, Dr. Kirby took the time out of his very busy day to introduce himself to me and explain the services he provided to our dog. The front office staff was very kind and patient with me as a first time customer. They were extremely slammed when I came in and handled everyone in a kind and professional manner.

  • Blanca Delgado

Absolutely adore Dr. Fritz and the team at Alamo Heights! Their prices are incredibly reasonable and they always take such good care of my dogs, calling to keep me updated on their status, and are so pleasant and accommodating. I had gone to another veterinary clinic after first moving to San Antonio, but sought out a new clinic when their prices were ridiculously expensive (I'm talking $1,500.00 for an annual check up on 2 dogs). So thankful to have come across Alamo Heights Pet Clinic and trusted in the awesome reviews, that I now have first-hand knowledge of their credibility. I will never take my animals anywhere else, they are amazing!

  • Sallie Watson

On one visit, they tried to tell me my cat weighed 32 pounds. Turns out they confused her with a dog if the same name, but they were going to send me home with dog meds to give her. When I called this week, after I had to tell them the pet's name 3 times, they first told me they didn't have a vet there by the name I requested. When I said we'd seen her there for 3 years, then it was "oh she's no longer with us." So now the expectation is that we will just drop off our cat with some unknown vet and then pick her up. I don't think so. Maybe they were a wonderful clinic awhile back, but they won't be getting any more of our business.

  • Rudy Portillo

My dog had a condition that made it necessary for him to be seen in my car instead of in-office. The initial phone call with the receptionist was professional and succinct. After about 15 minutes of waiting, the vet and an assistant met me outside and examined my dog. They were both gentle and caring so much so that my boi didn’t even really freak out with the antibiotics injection. Billing was quick and the price was on par for a reputable vet clinic worth their salt. I recommend this place based on the professionalism of the staff and the streamlined appointment experience. Plus, my pup got all better in no time.

  • Danielle Meyers

This place beats everyone on pricing. I really struggled to find a vet to diagnose the issue with my dog because everyone else was so expensive. I got delivered some awful if not unexpected news. The staff was awesome, Dr Kirby most of all. I was an absolute train wreck emotionally, and they were very kind and understanding. 10/10 would recommend these people. Also, Dr Kirby is a bit of a photographer. Pay attention when you walk in, the photos on his walls are framed prints of his own. It helps give the place a very family next door feel, as does the kind staff. Thank yall for everything.

We recently brought our bulldog in for a drop off Saturday exam and then again for a surgery to remove a growth on his eyelid. We were impressed by the thoroughness of the call and exam with Dr. Fritz. He noted several other small issues that we could address during that same surgery to save money vs multiple surgeries/treatments. The day of his surgery, drop off went smoothly and both the vet, and the assigned tech kept in communication regularly. I believe the techs name was Ryan, and he was great! Our pup is still recovering from the surgery, but it seems like he is doing great!

  • Xuan Uribe

From the first call I made to Dr. Kirby until now, excellent care from him and his staff. He actually got on the phone to talk to me when I first called with my dog's issue, which is unheard of, at least to me. She's not 100% yet, but he's been calling every day to check on her. Very appreciative of his professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable care and very highly recommend Dr. Kirby and his staff. Definitely can be a busy clinic, so wait times, and hectic staff may be an issue, but I figure that it is from a high demand for the quality care from this pet clinic. Worth it!

  • Dorothy Srembo

I've called when my dog had a problem. They had me drop him at the clinic to be seen. I was called by the veterinarian who saw him and given a report when he was ready for pick up. Great to know my pet can be seen without a scheduled appointment time in special circumstances. My problem was not an emergency but needed addressed. I've always had polite professional care for my skiddish pet. He does very well with the staff caring for him. The prices are quite reasonable for medical services and the special diet dog food and treats I buy. Kudos to Dr. Kirby and his staff.

My father recently picked up a 5 month old cat out in the middle of nowhere, we assumed she was in good shape. Unfortunately, Dr. Kirby alerted us that she was pregnant, had high blood cell levels, and an over sized heart for such a young kitten/cat. Although her journey included many instances of near death, success rates of surviving two surgeries being 30 to 50%, this vet office helped her survive and give us hope. Halo is such a happy, friendly cat. We look forward to the years that these people have given her. The people here are very friendly and accommodating!

  • Morgan Demel

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Kirby and his team. We began coming here 3 years ago with our family dog (and now our 2 chinchillas), and were immediately impressed by the incredibly fare prices and friendly staff. What brings me to write this review is to simply let all of you who care to read on know...Dr Kirby really does go the extra mile to ensure your pets safety and comfort. He will ALWAYS be my first call when I’m in need. Thank you a million times over Dr Kirby and Staff who have helped my furry family!

  • Grace Smith

This is the best vet by far. I adopted an older poodle from the pound in San Antonio. He had multiple issues. Dr. Fritz was amazing and he really explained everything to me in detail and cared for my new baby boy! He will also call to check on your pet after a procedure or visit, or even if you had a random concern. I love that these people care. As far as charging goes- I was very pleased with the range of pricing. This will be our vet for both of our fur babies until we move again! I recommend this vet to all of my friends.

  • B N

After having had years of good experiences here, I was informed their policy is now demanding you drop off your pet in the morning, they keep them kenneled without you there and you can no longer just bring your pet in on a scheduled clinic visit. Nope. I found a new vet, as this policy leaves entirely too much risk of the owner not being present for any issues. I don't kennel my dog when I'm on holiday... Why would I allow it for a simple office check-up? Sad to say, but this practice isn't what it used to be.

  • Morgan Zubia

After a not so great emergency room trip, we wanted to take our cat to a clinic once he began vomiting again. We called so many vets to see if anyone could get him in and Alamo Heights didn’t hesitate to take him in, even though they were booked. Dr. Amber Fritz and staff were so great with communicating everything to us and we felt very comfortable leaving him there through the weekend for observation. He’s now home and we’re so grateful for the amazing care provided by Alamo Heights Pet Clinic.

  • Alex Lee

I have known Dr Dan Kirby for over 20 years. I have also taken my pets to other vets and NO ONE is more dedicated than this wonderful, loving doctor. His compassion, knowledge and dedication is unsurpassed. I recently took my cat to a vet who was closer to my new home but when he got sick and they charged me $900 and 7 trips I moved him to Dr. Kirby where he is now under treatment and doing well. Dr Kirby has our dogs as current patients and now he has my cat Rusty added as a new patient.

  • Liz Pena

I'm reading the reviews about getting fur-babbies in and how reat the vets are. My question is, HOW DO YOU GET THROUGH to even make an appointment. After the third time of being put on hold ( 10 minutes each time)I finally said no. I spoke with Alicia. After reading the reviews I understand now why she told me, she doesn't know of any other vets office. I almost laughed. I know Dr. Kirby and Dr. Aldridge but this place is too busy for my animals.

  • Patricia Herrmann

Our dog lost a tooth, we called on a Saturday morning at 8am. We were able to bring her in right away. Had the tests done and will be able to have some tooth surgery on tuesday. Doctor called Sunday morning with tests results. All was good and ready for surgery on Tuesday. Only have high regards for this office. Plus we are from out of town, so this office makes it extra special for them to accommodate us. Thank you Alamo Heights veterinarian.

  • Josefina Tso-Guillen

The vets here are very capable and caring. The desk staff is helpful as well. I appreciate that getting a hold of someone to make an appointment or to get a refill on medication is easy. They have cared for our hamster and two dogs. I trust them completely. As for the office, it's clean. The waiting area is a good size and there is a lot of parking in the plaza. They also offer grooming and do a very good job. I recommend this place!

  • Jennifer Thurman

Dr. Kirby is amazing. I realize the drop-off is somewhat unusual for many of us but there is a purpose and to be honest I believe my babies get more attention from the staff and Dr when they spend a little time with them. Gives them more of an opportunity to experience the symptoms I describe. Trust Dr. Kirby he knows what he's doing and trust me I'd only leave my bulldogs in the care of 2 people, myself or Dr. K!

  • S Williams

Prepare yourself for 30-40 min wait time to just drop your pet off for their scheduled appointment. They are under staffed or perhaps over book but this is ridiculous. The staff no longer wears masks as well so keep that in mind if you still want to go here, felt super unsafe. The vets are always professional but staff have holes in their informs and back rooms are disheveled as well. Just not ran well anymore.

  • patti couling

Dr. Kirby and his staff are outstanding ! Dr. Kirby, makes us feel like we are his only patient ! I, have taken my pups to different vets. Only because Dr. Kirby is a drive for me, but they never have the same great out come . Dr. Kirby, personally calls to check on how your babies are doing . First time that happened I, was in shock and laughed. I, told my husband that our Dr. Doesn't even do that !!! LOL

  • Penny Higgenbottom

We have been with Dr. Kirby & staff for years. We have 4 fur babies. As close to holistic as you can get for vets. There is a reason that we drive 2 hrs to come here. We know % that our babies are in the best hands. You can definitely tell everyone here has the love for pets. Words can't express the love for everyone that is here. They all go above and beyond for all the babies that come here.

  • F Bzn

The people that work here ALL care about you and your fur babies. Very polite, positive and caring. They made me feel like a member of my family, which he was, had past on when my Buddy died. They took care of him like he was on of their own fur babies. The receptionists, nurses and doctors are all great people. I drive over 45 mins just because I know how much they care about my fur babies

  • Moshue Hicks

Very busy place... that's all you need to hear, really, because it means they are trusted by a great many of us to care for our furry Little Ones. Our experiences have been 100% positive, and I can say that about very few places of any kind. It's wonderful not to have to overpay for this level of quality - we have Dr. Amber and are very impressed with her. The whole crew here rocks!

  • Victoria Castellanos

Great place. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The veterinarians are patient and loving. The vet literally got on his hands and knees to hug my dog. Also, they saw my dog on the same day when she became critically ill. The only down side is it's a bit pricier than other vets and sometimes there is a line, but trust me it is worth it! I wouldn't go anywhere else!

  • Marcia Ebert

Dr Kirby is the best. I have been going there for a long time. He has taken care of all my beagles. The staff is also great the front deck are really nice they even know my husband name when he takes our dog there . I like it that dr Kirby calls and tell us about our dogs checkup himself. The prices are also not bad if you need a good vet this is the place to go

  • Joey Duarte

Dr Kirby is the best veterinarian we have ever dealt with. He really cares about the animals. He stays till late in the evening and calls you with updates whenever your dog has to stay overnight. We also see Dr. Alldredge, she is also top notch, always takes care of our animals, very caring, She was able to diagnose my dog when other veterinarians couldn’t.

  • Amy Oliver

This is a great vet clinic. The staff is friendly and the vets are truly caring. Dr. Kirby called and checked in frequently with me regarding my pup when she was sick. He is very invested in his clients and goes the extra mile. When I moved to San Antonio this clinic was enthusiastically recommended to me by more than one person.

  • Alicia Rose

Amazing staff! Very affordable! Worth the drive. Vet showed great confidence about removing a tumor in a difficult place. Took great care of my fur baby. Ryan the vet tech was absolutely awesome. He went above and beyond after my bully had his surgery! Went to 2 other vets before deciding to go here, glad i made the right choice!

  • Patty Duke

We highly recommend Alamo Heights Pet Clinic! This is the best Veterinary Clinic, ever! The doctor who takes care of your dog keeps you informed on any treatment, results, the same day, personally! Every time we take the puppies, the service is 5 Star. The Office Staff are informed and love their jobs. Love it!

  • Camilia Hasemeyer

The best Vet in SA. They staff took AMAZING care of our 7year Old Mastiff with DM and our other 2 babies. They would also help me get her in and out of the car since she was the same weight as me. They always kept us informed and explored many options with us so she could live a long healthy life.

  • Kirstin Reyes

Julia, Nicole, and Lesie were all very professional receptionists with a positive attitudes. I recommend this clinic! Thank you Dr. Jay Meyer and other staff members for being all professional and caring for my dog. You are truly amazing! I will definitely recommend this clinic to other clients.

  • Abe Novy

My wife and I will never take our pets to another vet hospital. Dr. Kirby was referred to us by our pet-sitter and won us over from the beginning. He is knowledgeable, compassionate and goes the extra mile to make sure we are getting the best care and advice for our fur babies. We love AHPC!

  • Morgan Schimp

The best vet we have ever been to. The staff is so kind and caring to all the animals there. One of the employees, Ryan, is amazing with out animals and we have seen him be so compassionate to other animals in the lobby as well. I can't say enough great things about this pet clinic!

  • Ranger Danger

The receptionist named Alicia is rude. She seems to have a stank attitude and comes across like you are bothering her. If she’s the face of the clinic…maybe they should find someone else to represent it. The other employees and vet techs were nice and pleasant. Alicia…not so much.

  • David Mcgee

This is a very busy pet clinic. Dr Kirby and staff are the best in San Antonio. My daughter drives from Austin to bring her two dogs here. They really love animals and provide excellent care. Great "bedside" manner and treat pet parents very well also. Very reasonable fees.

  • Phil J

If you're nervous about where to take your fur babies, look no further. They will give them tender care and love here as if they were their own. Cannot say enough about the vets and staff here that you will deal with. Exceptional attitude that you will come to appreciate.

  • Don Porschien

Dr. Kirby and his excellent staff of techs and assistants have taken care of all my pets, since my first cat when I lived in Alamo Heights. After moving several times, now to the far west side, no other vet will do! He's now taken care of 7 cats and 3 dogs for me.

  • Margot Almendarez-Rendon

Dr Kirby is the best Veterinarian in San Antonio! We’re so lucky to have him here. He truly loves his animals and takes care of them as if each is his very own. I am positive that he has saved our furbaby’s life more than once. We love him! …

Dr Alldredge is a wonderful veterinarian. She is very professional but also friendly and easy to talk to. She truly cares about her patients. Office staff are friendly and efficient. Very busy office with 4 vets so I know I'm not alone in my opinion.

  • Erika Costilla Perez

Friendly & fast staff. Our furbabies are well taken care of here and the prices are always fair. Dr Kirby personally calls and will update you of your pets condition, we truly love tht personal touch. Thank you AHPC and staff, keep up the great work!

Updating my initial review from 4 to a 5 after interacting with Dr.Kirby. I have never met anyone else that genuinely cares about my pet’s health as much as I do until I met Dr.Kirby. If you love your pet, take them to him! They’ll be in good hands.

  • Amber Hamilton

Please, for the love of God do not take your pet here unless you're only seeing Dr. Kirby. The vets here performed the wrong procedure on my dog due to lack of communication. I am going to try and keep this short while also telling the full

  • Marisela Rodriguez

Every time that I’ve brought my dogs here I’ve always had a good experience. Everyone is very professional and friendly. Today however was no different except that the technician Travis was rude. He had a great attitude but the first thing

My kitty got very sick with a virus and had to go to kitty hospital here for two nights. I was so nervous to leave him (I’ve never boarded him) but they took great care of him! They called me every day to give me updates. The prices were

I listen almost ever Sunday to both Bob and the you'd pets health show. I believed if I had an issue I could trust this place Dr, Kirby. We have a stray that decided our yard was her home , laid pups and as we were able to find homes for

Great people here. The front office, the doctors, the groomers - even the customers are nice! They care a lot and the prices are good. The lines can get a bit long, especially in the morning, but that's expected for a place this awesome.

  • Emily

I was trying to find a vet to help with my sick chickens. I called and Dr. Kirby personally spoke with me. After speaking for a bit, he said he would call me back when he had a little more time. He called me back and took his time

No need for the Covid protocols any more and this Clinic is greedy and does not do enough charity work for those in need. Not there for the animals just their pocket books. I do not recommend very arrogant staff members as well.

  • Kristopher & Teresa Alecozay

Dr. Kirby is the best! He is compassionate and thorough. I trust him with all my fur babies and always will. Everyone in the office is kind and helpful. My family has been taking our pets there for more than twenty years.

  • Albert Campos

Very busy practice, but if you can be patient the service is great. Dr. Kirby is one of the best in the field of general veterinary medicine and has a fantastic bedside manner. Techs and animal care team are great.

  • Sara

Dr Kirby and his staff are amazing! They treat me and my dog like family. Dr Kirby calls to make sure my dog is ok and to update me on what they're doing while she's there. I love this place.

  • Sean Hanlin

3 words to describe this vet. Uncaring. Rude. Unprofessional. I would never trust these people with an animals life. Do yourself a favor and go to a vet that cares about animals lives.

  • sarai gaona

We love it! My dogs never leave there traumatized. Dr. Amber and Dr. Kirby are great and explain everything thoroughly along with giving us options on our dog's treatment.

  • Alice Oldmixon

Check in wait can be long but have found the line full of friendly people & dogs so not a serious inconvenience. I trust the staff and doctors with my dog any day.

  • David Allen

My dog Nala is treated special at the Alamo. We get all pet services here for a fair price. The desk people, techs. and of course doctors are so friendly and fun.

  • David Herrera

Dr kirby amazing the best place to care for your pets but also they really do care for them. Great staff super busy but worth the wait.

  • aj robison

Absolutely love this place. Dr. Kirby is awesome. He goes out of his way to care for your animal. He even calls after his to check

  • Claudia Luna

Might be a good place, I don't know, they don't take new pets so if you haven't been there before don't waste your time …

  • Tiffany Mishler

I highly recommend this place to anyone. The receptionists are all very nice and helpful. And Dr. Kirby is amazing!

  • Robin Stephenson

Dr. Kirby is just amazing and also very kind and very dedicated to what he does. The staff is awesome in every way.

  • Patty Diaz

Dr. is great. The staff is nice, but when they put you on hold for 15 to 20 min, it gets ridiculous!

  • Richard Guadiano

A first-class veterinary clinic. Dr. Dan Kirby is among the best if not the best.

  • Linda Wharton
