I have been a customer at the bells corners location for over 4 years (1 time per month for RMT and a few other services throughout the years). I had a series of unfortunate customer service events while I was there, but kept returning because I really like one of the RMT’s. I finally decided last month to stop going there after they had to cancel my monthly appointment and were unable to reschedule it prior to my next already scheduled massage.. for the 6th time. I carry a lot of stress and pain in my back so I really rely on the regular massages as a way to treat that pain. My mom offered to take my sister in law and I for pedicures at the day retreat location. I had never been to this location so decided to give it a try, despite just having decided to no longer visit the bells corners location. So I was already skeptical given the experiences at the other location... The location was nice and the staff was polite. The pedicure was a bit rushed but overall relaxing and good. The aestheticians asked where we wanted to wait to let our toes dry and we chose the upstairs area. We stayed chatting and letting our nails dry under the fans for about 55 mins (they recommended to stay for 30 under the fans). When I pulled my feet out from under the fan, the polish had already smudged on one foot, I lightly touched the top and it was not even close to dry. That’s not normal so there had to be an issue with the polish. The others toes were both totally dry and they looked great. At this point we had almost been there for 2 hours so we went down to pay. I told the person at the front about the polish not drying and she offered to have a polish change done but didn’t have time for another 30 mins. I really didn’t want to wait another 2 hours to have it changed and let it dry. They offered for me to come in the following day to fix it but I was already busy, and really the only convenient time for it to be done was the 2 hours that I had already dedicated to getting it done. The girl offered to add an extra upgrade for next time on my pedicure and said she would leave it on my file. My mom paid for all of our pedis and we gathered our things to leave. I was a bit upset as we we leaving because there really wasn’t an effort to make things right within my schedule and we still ended up paying nearly $100 (+$20 tip) for me to leave with my toes looking like I painted them myself at home. As we were walking out a lady came up and asked if was the one who had an issue with the polish drying. I said yes that was me and she offered to put a polish change on my file. At this point I said no thanks as I had too many bad experiences at the other location and after the way that this visit had ended, I would not be returning. She then upped the offer to be a free pedicure and again I said no thanks. As we were leaving she assured me that the free pedicure would remain on my file for the next time if ever I decide to come back. I appreciate the effort on her part but the issue of lacklustre customer service within “The Spa” is systemic and I don’t want to go back again to have another mediocre experience. Once we were put up stairs, not one person came to check on us to see if we needed anything or if everything was drying properly etc. When I went down to let them know about the polish, no one even looked at the polish as I was describing it and trying to show them. They didn’t even know what colour it was and left the polish out on the floor for someone else to experience the same issue. Then, we paid for the service with them offering a small upgrade for the next time.. once they realized that I was not returning, that’s when I was offered a free pedicure. If a customer is not happy with the outcome of the service and you are unable to remedy the issue, why make them pay at all? Only to offer them to come back and experience the same thing? There are so many other spas in Ottawa/Kanata who really go above and beyond to make you feel special... it’s just not worth it to go to one that doesn’t.

I was gifted a few services the day of my bachelorette with my maid of honor. The girls decided to gift me a facial and wash, blowdry, style. The establishment is lovely, clean and relaxing. The staff are friendly and kind. We started off with a signature facial. The facial was great but there was no communication on what was being done or put on my face. It was supposed to be bf with a massage which I never got. I did not know what was included since it was a gift and a surprise. I was very disappointed of having my bridal party pay to not have all the services. We then followed up with a wash, cut, blowdry. Although again the staff was friendly they left out services again. The hair washing was very minimal. It was a quick wash and I didn’t feel like my hair was clean as she never touched my scalp. There was no head massage which is something that I love. The staff member then proceeded to dry and curl my hair. Unfortunately, the beach waves I wanted turned into me looking like a 6 years old. We were pressed for time as this was a full day of pampering at different locations. What should have been a le exceptional day had me feeling very unimportant, dismissed and not feeling pretty. I had heard good things about this and it’s disappointing that I didn’t get everything that was included. I did not speak up as I didn’t know the description of the services that was gifted to me. It was only after that I felt cheated. You would think that a bachelorette or wedding day, prom, big date, birthday that the staff would perhaps give it 110%. A sad and disappointment bride to be.

I've been to this spa twice. The first time was a few years ago for a pedicure. I was brought to my seat and feet placed in warm water and then had to wait for almost 20 minutes for the staff to arrive. She told me she was on her break. I was willing to pass this up as an honest mistake until yesterday. Yesterday I brought my daughter for a makeup application/lesson that was described on their website to take 60 minutes and cost $82. The appointment was done within 30 minutes. I was told it would only be charged as an 'application' appointment but the total ended up being $88. When I questioned this I was told that even though the time of the appointment was less than scheduled (application appointment was supposed to be for 45 minutes) that I was still being charged for the time allocated to the staff. I pointed out that they probably shouldn't advertise a service for a certain length of time if it actually wasn't going to take that long (even the staff member who did the makeup application said that it never takes that long). I asked why I was being charged for time that wasn't actually provided to me and was told that was their policy. Will never book at this spa again. Had I known I would have had to pay almost $90 for a makeup application that I could have done at home I never would have gone. Total waste of money and horrendous customer service.

Not impressed at all. Beautiful place, that's about it. Spa pedicure which costs 75 plus tax is extremely rushed. No time to soak before they start clipping and scrubbing, which makes for a very uncomfortable pedicure. The nail polish was rushed with no dry time between coats, so you h av c to wait under a dryer. 40 minute later my polish was still wet and smugged. No checking g to see how things were coming along, no I had to go down the three flights to let them know. Waited 10 minutes to see tech. By that time I figured out the dryer I was given was broken( you would hace though they would have realized that upon turning it on), and exchanged it for a working fan. No offer to fix the smugged polish, I had to go and ask another tech, to get me the polish so I could fix it myself. Two and a half hours later, and just leaving now, not relaxed at all. I will not be returning, nor recommending, instead I will be suggesting others avoid. Hopefully the bells corner location is a bit better Note: after receiving a message, then calling repeatedly for five days in an attempt to talk to the manager, have to say extremely disappointed disgusted. Will avoid in future including upcoming bridal spa trips for both myself, my sister in law and friend. Don't let the pomp fool you. Better to go with a low key local place that you know you will leave feeling happy.

Very disappointed with their customer service and work. I had Ombre done a week ago. Not only they booked me with a different Stylist I specifically made an appointment with after reading all the reviews, the front staff was not helpful at all. I went ahead anyway after driving over 40 min, the Stylist they've booked me was very nice and her cut is good. I am not sure if there's been miscommunication (showed a picture that I wanted).. but, my hair color does not look like I had Ombre done at all. Instead, it looks like I have bunch of grey highlights. I gave a week to settle, and it still looks the same and not sure if I can fix it as my hair has been bleached. I called three times and left messages to the front staff to have Manager to call back and haven't heard anything back. I was very looking forward to getting my hair done at The Spa as they advertise themselves as a high end spa and the experience was completed disappointing. I keep telling myself it looks alright but, I keep hearing comments whether I got highlights done. It makes me sad :( Spent about $250 and wasn't worth it. Will not go back and will not be recommending.

My family and I found the website for The Spa, and saw that it offered registered massage therapy. we found under the category of registered massages therapy, there was an option for deep tissue massage. We booked the appointment, and had our massages without incident. When it came time to pay, I asked the cashier if she could provide three separate receipts for benefits claiming. It was at that time that I was informed that the 3 different people that provided massages were not registered massage therapist in Ontario. They were visitors from another country. As a result, no benefits receipts could be given, and I had to pay just under $300 out of pocket. I spoke with management to which they apologized for the confusion, but refused to refund my money. I tried to contact the owner, but she has not responded to my email. I feel like I was scammed by this company.

Unprofessional. I was a spa client for 3 years and was charged special rate for a service with Claudia. She is now a manager. I saw another esthetician. When I went to pay, they said it was no longer the special rate. I asked why and they said I can't have the special rate unless I come in every 3 weeks. Prior to that, I never ever had to come every 3 weeks. Claudia always had the girls charge me the special rate. I spoke with Claudia and she did not budge. I just wanted to know why and if that was the case, they should not have allowed me to have special price for more than 2 years. I wrote the owner/manager, Christine. She sided with Claudia and made feel bad for writing. Shame on them. I will not return. There are some nice girls working there. Danielle and Jana. Management is a real disappointment. One star for Danielle as she tried to help.

Outdated salon and outdated energy. They have Zero regard for loyal customers. I got my hair blow dried 2-3x per month, I have spent over $1000 since November 2022. I cancelled ONE time due to food poisoning and I was charged and shown zero sympathy. Important to note when the stylist cancelled on me last minute, on 3 occasions this year, I was very understanding. The owner/ manager have zero business etiquette or respect for their loyal, repeat customers, they would rather a $50 fee than my ongoing business for the year/years to come. It’s a blessing in disguise, I found a fantastic new salon with great energy! Yes Christine rather than insulting people you should do your homework, I am a very real client. Sabrina called me to reassure me she would be charging me, there was no miscommunication. Thanks!

Debbie Collins has been my hairdresser at the Spa Day Retreat for over 10 years! She is the best hairdresser I have ever had in my life! She is very professional and is very particular about how my hair is cut and styled and dyed! I appreciate the excellent suggestions she makes about my hair and the time she takes to explain what she will do and answer any questions I may have! She keeps me current and I get rave reviews about my hair from my friends and relatives every time! I often buy products that she recommends as well as she knows what my hair needs to keep it looking it’s best! She goes the extra mile to make sure I am happy! I recently had a pedicure with Marissa, and the whole experience left me wanting more. My esthetician seemed to be in a bad mood, sick, or just maybe she doesn't like her job. She did not say a single thing to me, which made for an hour of awkward silence. I have very ticklish feet, but I've never been that uncomfortable during a pedicure before, it was intense. After I left I noticed that my polish was streaky and translucent on some toes, and completely smeared on another. For an $80 pedicure I am extremely disappointed and won't be returning. Additionally, not being able to book online or even over email is frustrating. There were three very friendly receptionists working when I visited so I feel like at least booking via email should be an option.

I booked a next-day appointment for a facial, manicure, and pedicure while I was visiting Ottawa for the weekend, and I am absolutely thrilled with the service I received. From the moment I walked in, I felt relaxed and happy. I'd never had a facial before and the esthetician was great about explaining the process - I learned a lot and felt like a million bucks afterwards! I had a brief delay between my facial and mani/pedi which was just enough time to enjoy a cup of tea. The lady who did my mani/pedi was so helpful - she suggested I get tacos for lunch at a shop in the plaza across the street afterwards (I did and they were terrific)! I definitely recommend visiting The Spa and will return when I visit Ottawa again in the future!

I recently had a facial at this spa, and I must say it was an incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt a sense of relaxation and tranquility from Meeka. Meeka took great care of me, ensuring that I felt completely at ease throughout the entire treatment. What I loved the most was that it didn’t feel rushed, allowing me to fully enjoy every moment. Her energy was outstanding; she was completely present, giving her undivided attention to every detail. Overall, it was a beautiful experience that left me feeling rejuvenated and pampered. I highly recommend this spa and Meeka for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle and indulge in some well-deserved self-care.

The nail technician I had at the spa was lovely but I am very disappointed in my manicure. I got french tips and it looks like I did them myself. The lines were not well done and I can see the white of my nails underneath. For a $60 manicure I will not be going back. I give them a 2 star because the hand massage and paraffin was really nice but really disappointed in the colour and it has chipped after two days. Edit: I would like to add that the owner called and emailed me offering me a free French manicure. I live too far away at this time to take them up on the offer but I thought that was very kind, professional and they handled my unhappiness very well!!

I was given bangs I didn't ask for. It was my first time here so I brought a photo of the hair I wanted but it was completely disregarded by the stylist. Even after coming back to "fix" the mess the style I wanted was unable to be achieved due to the bangs I was given. I left the second time being told to deal with it for the next 6 month until they grewout. I didn't come here to pay them only to make me feel ugly and leave in tears. I appreciate the second stylist who tried to reshape things but she still couldn't fix the damage that the first created. I'd like an honest explanation as to why my wishes were disregarded in the first place?

i just had the worst and most expensive blow out of my life. i went in for a wash and blow dry and left extremely disappointed. number one, it cost me $60, number two i left and my hair was still damp, number 3 so much product was put in my hair that it is greasy already, number 4 my hair looks WORSE than when i do it myself (and i am NOT good). the stylist could not even smooth out my hair using a round brush a blow dryer. if you want a nice smooth blow don't go to the spa. i am not willing to pay astronomical prices for a poor service even if it is in a nice "atmosphere". BEWARE you do not get what you pay for here!

Dianna is the only reason this spa gets a 5 star rating! She provided the best customer service I have received in quite a while. While another aesthetician gave our bridal party a difficult time for an error on the spa’s part, Dianna made it possible for us, 7 girls to get our nails done for the wedding next day. Dianna did an amazing job with my nails, will definitely be recommending her&spa to friends and clients. On a side note, I would highly recommend advising clients they must have any shellac done by a third party be removed before the appointment. Maybe through email or automated texting service.

I am updating my review to 5 stars because I believe strongly in judging people and businesses more by how they react to an experience - not just by the experience. I did have one bad experience at the spa but the effort and consideration shown by the owner was way above what we see in client service in most places. I felt listened to and felt that she genuinely cared and wanted to rectify the results of my service. Mistakes are made at every spa - after all people are human but this level of care after the incident is rarely seen. I will definitely be going there again.

I have been going to The Spa Day Retreat and previously The Spa in Bells Corners for over 15 years. Cathy has done a fabulous job with my hair colour, highlights, and cut, for at least 10 years. Her technique is spot on and her knowledge evident, always keeping current. The Spa is also attentive, friendly, and you feel complexly at ease, perfect for relaxation. I also see regularly Fatma, an aesthetician, and I am truly in good hands. She is always helpful and looking for ways to assist me with whatever need I have! This place is full service meeting all your needs.

Love getting my hair done by Chelsea! She’s the only one I trust with my blonde colouring. She takes the time to make sure I’m getting exactly what I want and offers suggestions depending on the condition of my hair (I take medication that sometimes cause it to change). She’s very in tune to my sensitive scalp too and helps limit any irritation. She’s easy going and great to talk to! I always get nervous going for hair or spa treatments but not anymore. She’s put me at ease. (The Spa itself is also beautiful and has a really great vibe).

I highly recommend seeing Chelsea for your hair colour and styling needs! I’ve been a long-time client of Chelsea’s because of her excellent care, recommendations and professional work. She knows exactly what I like and is consistent. I always receive compliments on my highlights! If you have specific colour needs, ask for Chelsea - she is an experienced pro! She also does an awesome blow-out. The Spa itself is a comfortable and open space, and has great front staff who are friendly and kind when booking over the phone, or checking out.

My husband surprised me by treating me to a 45 minute massage. When I walked in I was blown away by how beautiful and calming the interior was. The massage room was beautifully appointed and soothing with low light, soft Japanese music. It was my first experience being at a Spa and receiving a massage. It did not disappoint. My masseuse Natasha had magic hands and 45 minutes flew by. I highly recommend. Not only is it beautiful and relaxing but also very affordable. Can not give enough praise. I will return...next time with my husband.

I have been coming the spa for years. It's a beautiful and relaxing environment. Not only this but my hair stylist, Ali is the cherry on top. She is the most fabulous hair artists I have ever had. On top of her experience and the amazing work that she does she is so warm, friendly and personable. Somehow this place manages to live right in the middle of Kanata, yet feels like you’ve been transported to a quiet and serene place away from it all. It’s built in a historic building and they’ve done a great job preserving the look and feel without anything feeling old and creaky inside. Had a shellac manicure done and the experience was wonderful. Two weeks in and it still looks as perfect as it was day one!

Will definitely be visiting again. Very nice atmosphere, fantastic customer service and reception.Technocians were amazing and knowledgeable , asked about medical conditions, preferences and allergies prior to doing anything. Wide array of products including Eminence which I personally have had very good results. Would definitely recommend it as a great venue for a girls day or for couples to go and relax.

If you want a great facial, book with Nicole! My skin is glowing after my Hydrolifting Facial, and I equally enjoyed the Sea C Facial! Nicole also recommended products that have been perfect to maintain my skincare between appointments. It’s obvious that Nicole is passionate about what she does, which makes for the best possible service and experience. Can’t wait for my collagen facial, next!

First time getting a massage. Was definitely super nervous as it's something that's very much outside of my comfort zone but it was a gift so I went. Everyone there was super nice and did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable and that it was an enjoyable experience for me and I really appreciated that. Plus it doesn't hurt to sit up straight anymore so that's pretty sweet.

Cathy, (hairstylist/colourist) is definitely one of the best and her work never disappoints me! I always refer family and friends to the spa for excellent spa treatment!

Not very pleased. Was over charged for services that I didn't agree to - in fact I specifically asked for a lesser service. Waxing/sugaring was only ok, quite painful. (I've been waxing for 10 years and am accustomed to the pain level.) Beautiful facility and staff was nice. Not worth it in my opinion.

I have been going to The Spa since 2012! Mostly for skin care since I was 18, and a few other services. But absolute favourite, was the hydrolift facial done by Marina recently. I suffer from dry, eczema prone skin. Hands down the best facial EVER!! My skin has never felt nor looked so good. 10/10!

Have been coming for years for many types of services. You get greeted warmly as soon as you walk in. Exceptional services. Wouldn’t trust anyone else then Chelsea with my blonde. She truly is an expert! It truly feels like a treat having a service done at The Spa Retreat. Highly recommend!
