First time attempting to purchase from Pieriks, due to an injury I sent my S.O. to collect an item for me (side load bottle cage). The website said it was in stock and was even letting me pay for curbside pickup, yet upon arriving my S.O. was told the item is out of stock. I called in to ask why it's letting me order the item for curbside pickup, and was told that their in store stock is not connected to their website inventory, so when an item sells out in store it wont be reflected online. Not only is this completely unacceptable for a business in 2020, but it's even harder to believe considering there is only one location to keep track of inventory for. Money, time, and gas were all wasted unnecessarily due to the store's negligence in setting up a proper inventory management system - what's the point in checking online if the numbers don't even match up in person? During my phone call no attempt was made to offer a solution (such as ordering the part in for me, or offering to ship the part to my house for the inconvenience). Likely won't be shopping here in the future, I cant imagine purchasing expensive parts from this shop if they can't even handle a simple bottle cage order. edit: upon reading the other reviews I can now see that I'm lucky to have only attempted to purchase a cage here and not bring my bike in for service. I will be reporting this business to the BBB and I recommend others who have received subpar service despite paying to do the same. Yelling at customers and forcing them out of the store over quality control concerns is disgusting. Some of the owner replies even try to throw the fact that theyre continuing to operate during covid in their customers faces, as if they are somehow more important than others because of this... meanwhile they publicly degrade ACTUAL front line workers (nurses) for being "government employees"? What the %#@&... The owner(s) should be ashamed of their business. Please speak to some HR professionals and receive some customer service coaching - you cannot be publicly responding to customers complaints with such foul language and clear disrespect. You have some serious issues that you need to seek help for, or your business is going to suffer. My family heads a highly esteemed local HR firm, and believe you me, I know the proper avenues to have your business ethics investigated if you continue to treat your paying customers like physical garbage. If you can't do that then you need to disconnect completely and hire a professional to handle your customer service complaints. Criticism from local cyclists is because they want their LBS's to be better - they are passionate about cycling and expect the same from those who service their bikes. They are not out to get you or to attack you, yet you react as if they are every time... very childish. 2nd edit: looks like the owner replied in his typical fashion, further fueling the fire and providing more evidence to bring to the BBB. Serious anger issues and a massively inflated ego (compensating for something? *wink wink*)

I placed an order for some cycling shoes on May 23.  My credit card was charged May 24.  I visited the store on May 26 to pick-up the shoes after receiving an email indicating they were ready for pick-up. Turns out that the item was not in stock (thanks for the unnecessary drive Pieriks). I informed the store attendant to issue a refund to my credit card.  I then emailed the store on May 26 requesting the refund in writing. I emailed again on May 27 to remind the store of the refund since I had not received a reply to my previous email.  On May 29, the store responded to tell me that they would issue the refund that day, but then did not complete the refund.  On June 2, I emailed to inquire as to when the refund would be issued.  I received no reply to that email. I called the store and left a message on June 3.  I received no response. I called again on June 4 and was able to speak to who I presume to be the owner (Lou). He said that the refund had been done but it takes 7 days, which is odd since he was able to charge my card immediately when I made the purchase. He then proceeded to give me a tongue-lashing, yelling and swearing at me, telling me to eff-off and calling me other wonderful choice words. I am taken aback by the treatment I received. Regrettable. Customer service is not a strong point for Lou. I'm not sure how else a customer whose money was being kept inappropriately is supposed to navigate a refund. I am certain that I didn't deserve to be treated the way I was. I would caution everyone against spending money at this store. Go to Freewheel Cycle in Dundas or Ancaster Cycle. The people working there aren't filled with rage and contempt for customers, which makes for a much more pleasant shopping experience....plus, you'll actually get your cycling shoes.

THE OWNER IS A MISOGYNIST. If I could give negative stars I would. I left in tears. I read the reviews (after my visit, unfortunately) and realized he has treated MANY other women with the same disrespect. Long story short, I decided to take my business from a large corporate bike repair shop to a local one, to help "support- local" after the pandemic. The owner was extremely short and rude with me, which I found very alarming, right off the bat. But I caulked it up to .. maybe he's just having a bad day. But when I came in with a new wheel in hand, he grew increasingly hostile towards me... in front of other customers! I asked to have my bike back so I could take it elsewhere (because I no longer trusted my life or safety in the hands of this man). He went on to charge me for a service that was incomplete, then went on to ask me / insult my current occupation (which, if you read the other reviews, he's done on multiple other occasions). He continued calling me terrible names .. I had to hold my back tears until I left the store - so this miserable man wouldn't get the satisfaction he was so earnestly looking for. I feel sorry for the employees who work there (Ken?) he was very gracious and tried to console me outfront after. I appreciate that, but by working for a rude and angry man, you are standing by his actions. Lastly, I ended up taking my business elsewhere (Brant Cycle, highly recommend!) and found that Pierik's was trying to over sell me on bike parts I didn't need! I shouldn't be surprised though because this has also happened to many other customers (see reviews). All around, terrible service. Steer clear of this place, unless you like to be over-charged and disrespected.

I can't recommend Pieriks anymore which is a shame as it used to be my primary bike shop and its where I bought my first Cyclocross bike back in 2015. As many other folks have indicated the ownership changed a few years back and things have gone downhill since. I hope they can turn things around but I've given the place enough shots and I'll be going elsewhere from here on out. I was let down a few times by the service and advice I've received over my last few visits so I started going to other shops except for when I needed supplies quick. Earlier this summer I stopped in to pick up tubes and the owner wasn't wearing a mask or social distancing. He has noted in his replies to other reviews they have medically exempt staff members but while I was in the store one of his employees let in a group of customers without masks (to be fair the customers asked if they had masks to provide). That made me extremely uncomfortable and I haven't been back since. It has been distressing to see that this isn't a unique experience from other reviews. For your safety and convenience I'd recommend going to another bike shop in the area.

Abysmal customer service. Owner is rude and yells at clients. I brought a brand new bike to be assembled because I don't have a torque wrench - specs are clearly labeled all over the bike. When I asked the owner he said that they use hand feel because they have experience and they can tell the right torque by "hand feel". I challenged him about it and he yelled at me and said that they have tools in the back. He charged me almost double what his estimate was because they had to "straighten the derailleur" and that was extra - it is a brand new bike out of the box which came completely covered in cardboard and packing foam. When I confronted him about it he started yelling at me saying that I called 6 times to inquire about the bike. I called twice and the second time was to confirm after he had texted me saying that I would be ready the following day. It wasn't - he couldn't be bothered to let me know because he is too busy. The owner is extremely rude and arrogant. Not to mention that half of the staff don't wear masks; the owner does but it hangs on his neck most of the time.

I went to Pieriks to get a new inner tube for my rear tire. The salesman behind the counter suggested that I also get a new wheel as well because my bike is pretty old. I agreed and he said it would be around 80$ with labour. Sounds reasonable enough. I went home and later got a call from them; they told me that the front tire should be replaced as well. I went to pick it up and it ended up being 130$. A little more than I was hoping to spend on a bike that probably isn't even worth that much. While I was paying I asked if there was any warranty on the tires as they were brand new. The salesman asked behind the counter to the two repairmen in the back if there was a warranty and one of them said "Warranty? It's not like you're buying a brand new car!" The two of them then started to crack jokes at what they obviously thought was a stupid question. I didn't think that was an unreasonable question to ask... nonetheless I won't be going back based on this experience.

Brought my bike in for a minor repair and the employee was not condescending, and didn’t try to sell me a whole bunch of other gear both of which I appreciated. He also answered my questions and helped me find a mirror for my drop bars. A tune up is pricey here, but I find they do it right. I had two done 2017, 2018 and 2019 and both ran lovely all year with me only pumping up tires and checking brake cables. I like the selection of accessories, have never bought a bike from the shop as I personally don't like the brands they sell for my own needs. I've always found them to be transparent about cost and they communicate well with each customer. Still really grieving for Central Cycle but Pierik's is as close as I can get to a similar shop feel. Would love it if they supported the Environment Hamilton’s Carbon Cycle again. It was the tune up discount that led to me becoming a customer in the first place.

This bike store seemed great at first I got a great deal on a specialized rock hopper and they told me that it would be fully serviced and tuned up for me. However within 2 weeks of picking up the bike the brakes started to malfunction and my gears were not working I brought it in and I was told it would be fixed on the spot. They worked on it for about 10 minutes and sent me on my way with I thought was a fixed bike. However the next day to my astonishment my brakes were malfunctioning again when it was all said and done I ended up taking my bike in a total of three times within the first month and every time The repairs done either broke down or another issue arose. All in all I was very disappointed. over the years my family had received great service however since the new owner shop took over I have noticed a significant decrease in customer service.

Excellent and fast service !! I needed to replace my rear tire inner tube. After calling another tire shop and was told it would probably take 5-10 days to get done, I called Pierik's and they said they could do it by the next day and possibly the same day. I arrived at the shop shortly thereafter and one of the technicians helped me take the bike out of my vehicle. He took it in and said it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I went across the street to Food Basics to pick up some groceries and when I returned in 15 minutes my bike was ready and waiting for me. The cost was the same as the other shop and my bike was good to ride right away. Thank you again for the fabulous service !!

The mechanic was very polite and helpful. The older guy (I think he was the owner) was very rude and dismissive. He treated me like I was wasting time and space there, rolled his eyes at me and scoffed when I asked him if there was a trial for the bikes. I could feel the contempt when he asked me what kind of places would allow for trials. Well, guess what? Bike hounds in downtown allows for test rides! I'll be taking my money there instead. 2 stars because the mechanic was really sweet. Otherwise it'd be a one star. The owner needs to learn how to talk to people. I don't support businesses that treat me this way.

  • Chrissy Anne

Avoid this place like the plague. You can see in other reviews they have zero customer service skills..shocking considering word of mouth and social media posts about this place spread like wildfire. Poor communication. Insanely long wait for repairs. Then if you ask for a refund for something that wasn't even done or done properly they will refuse to provide one. Head to main cycle where they actually value customers and staying open for business by treating their customers right and providing the proper refunds when necessary

I bought my gravel bike from this store two months ago and love it so far. Staff are really nice. Lou helped me to find a bike which is suitable for my need and within my budget. I put my drivers license and tested it. I wanted a different colour of same bike, they assemble it for me within one working day. Recently I went there to ask them to fix a minor issue with my bike. They did it shortly and problem solved. All staff are nice and my experience was very positive at this store. Thank you

I've bought two road bikes here and have always had a good experiences dealing with Pierik's. Elaine was especially helpful to me when I was shopping for my first road bike. (At other bike shops where I initially shopped I had been completely ignored) I've also used their mechanic service - which were always thorough and efficient. They provide quality service. I've also purchased my fair share of "stuff" here - they stock quality products. It's a great local bike shop!

  • Aiden Gordon

Amazing staff. I bought my first bike here and very quickly outgrew it skills wise, I then broke my frame and so we got it sent out on warranty. They were very helpful and managed to help me get a whole new bike that was worth a lot more then what I originally paid... for free. I would recommend this store to anyone from any skill level (but specifically beginners) that wants some expert opinions or is looking to buy their first mountain bike.

  • Daniel Harold

Spent $192 for a "Tune up" in September of 2021. They were supposed to change my sprockets/gears, but didnt. Nor did they put new brake or gear cables in. I just took my bike to a different shop today and they said its obvious the bike has not been serviced for much longer than 1 year. Have no idea what I paid for. I dont enjoy making a review like this but I feel its my duty to inform potential customers of my experience.

First time at Pierick's Cycle and definitely not the last! This is a 5 Star Bike shop with courteous, helpful and most important, knowledgeable staff and owner. Repairs were done as requested and both my bikes were ready when they said they would be. Prices were very fair! Thanks go out to Tom, Chris, Jesse and Lou and to those in the shop that made sure things were done in a professional and timely manner. I'll be back!

  • Jack S

I brought my bike in to repair it’s brakes and for some basic tuning. Came in a few days later and absolutely nothing had changed. Brought it into Free Wheel Cycle in downtown Dundas and they inspected the bike very closely while I was there and fixed it within a couple hours while having amazing customer service. The bike works perfectly and I couldn’t be happier. Would highly recommend them instead of this place.

  • Frankie Dux

Do Not GO HERE!!!! Horrible Customer service! The Rudest bike Shop I have ever been to. They literally have no clue about what they are doing. They told me My BB can't be ordered and good luck if I can find one... Literally Two hours A local shop found it instantly and I had it installed by actually Bike Mechanics... LOU the OWNER is a NASTY HUMAN BEING!!

  • Alexander Peace

Very happy with my new Cannondale mountain bike and the help in making my purchase from Lou and the staff here. They went above and beyond to make sure the bike fits me and is setup correctly. We all know getting hold of the bike you want is hard right now with the supply issues, but they still have a good selection here. Happy to recommend!

  • Paulo Caproni

Owner and technicians were very helpful, patient and kind. Other stores ran out of bikes to sell, but here they didn't. Everything was explained in detail when I bought my bike and gear. Great warranties and free service after my bike purchase for a year! Not just good customer service: good CUSTOM service :) This is now my bike shop.

  • Nikita Nogovitsyn

My girlfriend and I were on a bike ride not far away from this place. We needed a quick fix for a bike seat and stopped by this shop. We would like to thank Chris for his help fixing the bike. He was very knowlegable and enhusiastic, he showed us a few options for bike parts. We will be coming back for some biking accessories shortly!

  • Steve Marton (Dartmango)

Lou is great. The technician was also very informative and friendly. They are a professional no nonsense bike shop. They get the job done and keep in touch every step of the way. I'm ready for a good season of downhill mountain bike riding and I know my ride will hold up with servicing done by Pieriks Cycle.

  • Jon O

I've been here before a few years back and the customer service was pretty absent during my visit. The recent exposure of the owners treatment of their employees is beyond words. As a small business owner, these actions are completely unacceptable and this shop should cease operations immediately.

  • Kaiden Seven

The best bike shop in all of Hamilton. All the staff and mechanics are friendly and knowledgable and go out of their way to get you the parts and service you need in as quick as time as possible. If you are looking to get a new bike or need one serviced look no further.

  • luiza lobo

Took my bike in for a repair they charged me 100$ and did the repair without even asking if I had the money to pay them. I understand my bike needed some work but I should be asked if I want to spend that money on my bike. You can't repair

  • Virginia Rabbia

I bought a bike in Pieriks 1 month ago, the bike is awesome but the deraillers and the brakes were terribly adjusted, which makes little sense as it is almost the only job they do (the bike being awesome is on specialized). I went back for

Bought a sweet bike, and they have been giving great personalized service...above my expectations!!! Went back for a second time and was blown away even more! That is why I choose to support local excellent shops. Lou has been great so far.

I had to put in a special order for my bike back in January, since they don't carry my brand in stock. They were more than happy to accommodate, and to let me pay it off gradually while I waited for it to come in - an amazing bonus, since

I loved this store and bought my bike from them but now that it has been sold and has a new owner I will not be going back. They did my tune up on my bike and missed a few important things and they told me to bring it back and they would

This place will be closing down their storefront soon. Unsurprising, considering the old man who works here genuinely despises everyone who walks through the door and lets his frustrations out through google review replies. Never in my 6

I have tried to use Pieriks' several times now, and I have been consistently disappointed. His store is impressive looking, but behind all the flashy expensive bike gear is some pretty shady practices. This shop does shoddy work that it

  • William Jolly

The owner is the rudest man I’ve ever met. I asked a question. He rolled his eyes shook his head and walked away. He has been in business a while so he probably has vast knowledge but to be dismissed by him in such a manner, never again.

  • Christopher Long

The person who helped me with the purchase of my bike was a great help! (I didn't get his name). A clear expert in all things bicycles, he was trustworthy and his advice was very welcome. I left Pierik a very satisfied customer.

  • Josh Arbess

Great store; friendly, knowledgeable, and reasonably-priced. I've taken my bike there for repair a few times. The only downside is that most of the employees do not wear masks, so I might wait until COVID ends to go back.

  • Sean Crockett

They do their best to please their customers. I like the fact that I can bring back my bike after a break in period to have it readjusted. You might pay a little more here but you get what you pay for.

  • Andre Gouveia

Amazing guys working there! Awesome bikes also! Just bought a Cannondale bike there yesterday, and all I can say is that they exceed my expectations as a client! This place is more than recommended!

  • Bill Dungey

I called from Brantford to find a Cannondale bicycle. The staff were helpful and offered to tune my new bicycle up after I put some kilometers in. The store was well kept and stocked. A+
