Almost 11 hours at Prince of Whales ER!!!! just want to share my horrible experience! I presented with very fast heart palpitations and lightheadedness after taking flu medication + painkiller. (I was told by my doctor that these were safe to take together.) the episodes were repeating in 15mins interval at the house and wasn’t going away. Anyways, my palpitations increased by the minute with the long wait!!! how can this be an ER???!!! We’ve been to this ER before and it took us 4hrs then, that was bearable. But 11hours?!! And the wait is probably Ok if they at least make it comfortable for you. Nothing was offered to us as we waited. And mind you, there were far more worst people than me, older people. When i asked for blanket, I was given one but it had massive stain kn it which was light brownish in color so not sure if that’s a blood stain that didn’t come off or what. I still had to ise it as I was really cold. Not even water was offered. My recount of the events: 11:30pm - registered 11:40pm - triage 2am - ECG (by this time my episodes have passed and my heart seemed to have calmed down. So the ECG will no doubt show normal!) 4am - blood work 930am - seen by Doctor!!!! That’s 10hrs! And when I entered the ER, they only had a chair to put me in and my husband was standing! 15mins Q&A. Tells me my blood work ok and ECG normal! (I knew that already!) then says, ‘so unless there’s ingredients in that medication that maybe contributed to it…’ At this stage, she was holding the box of codral! Could she not see what the ingredients are??!! So I Showed her the 2 inconclusive ECG tests that I took at home (using applewatch) when I was having the episode. And she goes “ok, it does show an abnormal read, which I think is nothing to be concerned of but let me check with my senior”. 10mins wait to get senior. 10mins chat with senior who thank God really sounded more credible and really explained the differences of what I should be looking out for abnormal beats. And she pointed out the ingredient in codral (Phenylephrine Hydrochloride) that was a stimulant that could have triggered the episode and my body didn’t react well to it. Another 10mins wait to get report for GP follow up. 10:15am - left bldg! The care was average, the wait time was very poor. The nurse was at least checking up on me so that was good. Is it like this in all Sydney hospitals? Have you had the same experience?

I regret going here for medical care. After paying private health insurance for over 20 years in this country and hardly ever needing a doctor, when you finally need one they penny pinch on medical care. Arrived with injured ankle ligaments/tendons after swelling had subsided and couldn't walk on my ankle without it causing lots of swelling and pain and I was concerned I may have a high ankle sprain. Triage nurse said my compression bandages were too loose and weren't doing anything to help even though I'd loosened them before going there after showering. After inspecting an X-ray to rule out a fracture and high ankle sprain the doctor just put on a tubular support bandage that felt even looser than my bandaging that the triage nurse complained about and told me to do ICE but to go back to using it like normal. They didn't even properly explain how I could get a copy of my X-ray, the doctor said I could have it but the receptionist said I couldn't due to privacy and mentioned I had to get it via some website. If they did a proper diagnosis they would have identified it was a grade 2 ankle sprain and done an MRI scan of the ankle and peroneal tendons too to investigate the injured ankle and to give me peace of mind instead of deferring that to future outpatient investigations. They should have told me to wear an ankle brace at night and a cam walker (which I already had) during any weight bearing to provide stability keeping the foot at a 90-degree angle to the leg for a couple of weeks at a time including at night to prevent stress so the torn ligament could have repaired itself over a month, not a dodgy tubular support bandage that hardly did anything and just caused the ankle to get worse. They charged me about AU$382, which included waiting for a few hours, about 5 mins in triage, about 10 mins doing X-rays from 3x angles on my ankle, and about 10 mins with a doctor. About six weeks later I still experienced a swollen ankle with usage and still can't perform a full plantar flexion or participate much in sport. Only then did I use the cam walker for about a week to give it a chance to heal and then after that a small ankle brace. Why contribute to an economy that doesn't care enough about the health of its own citizens to diagnose them properly.

I had a really bad experience in emergency department in Prince of Wales Hospital. I got a fever for one week and the temperature is around 40 degrees. Therefore, I went to the Prince of Wales Hospital. The doctor did not find any reasons and asked me to stay in hospital. They said they will arrange a bed for me to stay and not allowed me to go back home. It is freezing and I am starving there. Unit 11 o’clock, they still have no bed available. I have to wait in a room without a place to rest. During that time, I can hardly find a doctor or nurse and no place to get the hot water. Then I asked to leave or otherwise I will die there. They asked me to sign a paper that said I will take the whole responsibility. I did that and asked my cousin to take me back. It is a nightmare there and make my body situation much worse then. One day after I was back to the hospital. Again, I wait there for ages and then the doctor is very rude and said very mean words that I should not leave. However, if I stay in there without hot water and bed, I might already dead. It is very mean for them to say something like that to a person already got very sick. Again, they did not find any reason that why I had a that high temperature. Then my girlfriend decided to send me back to China. In China, the doctor said if I was late for the other a few days, I might die. It is a small problem at first, but as the wrong treatment, my immune system disordered. If I treated right, I will be fine at the beginning. Then I have to stay in China for half a year treatment. Most religious things happened that while I was unconscious in hospital in China. The prince of wales hospital keeps calling me saying that I need to tell them my passport number. Then they said I still need to send them $35, as they forget to charge one thing. Also, I notice they did not give the invoice and they charged the OSHC $1145 said I stay in the hospital. It shows that I already paid them from my payment. The health system is really bad in this hospital and they did not treat patients like people. Next time, I will prefer go to some private hospital instead of this hospital.

Prince of Wales, Endoscopy at the Billington Centre: I’m guessing it’s pretty obvious what you’d be going to this particular department for and, yes, you need a referral from your gp. My own experience here absolutely surprised me! My visit here was very positive, can you believe it? I hardly can but it’s true! The directions were easy to follow but if you need assistance finding your way, every staff member is happy to help you and very friendly. From the Barker Street entrance just follow the purple path to the elevator, go to the 2nd floor and continue on until you see the sign that says Billington Centre. Easy peasy. Sheree schedules appointments and also checks you in upon arrival. Due to Covid, scheduling was dramatically impacted so I’m guessing Sheree fielded lots of frantic or distressed people wanting to know when they could schedule their procedure. Sheree is friendly and professional and helpful and calm(!). I applaud her and thank her! This unit has several nurses and members of staff, all kind and friendly. Stephen Butler!!! I don’t know if I kept him laughing or if he kept me laughing but, I can not thank him enough for his professionalism, friendliness, too. Gareth and Stephen have a fantastic rapport with each other and it radiates to everyone else. Gareth gave me my post-procedure information and instructions, also answered my questions and another friendly face of this unit. Dr Sorayya is the anaesthetists’ intern who explained everything, what to expect, and answered all my questions. Naturally, each member of this well coordinated team followed up with me afterwards, making sure I was doing alright. I was pleasantly surprised to have a follow up phone call from Stephen the day after my procedure. The teamwork and professionalism exhibited deserve kudos to every member of this team and of the unit as well as the Billington Centre. Turns what might be an unpleasant experience into a better experience. Thank you Billington Centre and even bigger thank you to Stephen Butler and Gareth (nurses), Sheree and Sorayya.

After 150 operations, 5000 procedures in 45 years, I owe my life to the empowerment I feel, which was and still is inspired by many professionals, many staff and departments in my "hospital home..." We have come to know so many amazing people, either sharing many hours waiting, waiting and waiting, or just through fleeting conversation, some have have lead to strong bonds and friendships that have lasted many lifetimes. In the true reality of living a life in "medical world" so many that have been there for me and my family every step of the way, and for that i am truly grateful. TBH it's really weird and sad to see a place of "review" so filled with negative silliness over trivial points of the process. These low star ratings don't mention life threatening issues, intensive care, intricate and repeated surgical interventions. I am a legally blind tube fed powerchair user on palliative care who has "burned" through the skill of the most qualified neurosurgeons in the country. Returning to POW for safe and accurate continuation of care, regardless of expected outcome has been of great comfort. Maybe I'm a bit more open about my experiences because I know life is too short to be wasted on negative filthy words. Life is tough, but so what I'm alive!!! Those who sook about what really is of zero importance in the grand scheme of things really should experience being revived, reassured and ready to wake up with a smile even though there might be a clock ticking on the days left to do that... Thanks POW. WE LOVE YOU... x PS little survival tip for rookies. Be nice to the staff. Don't be a pest. You came to them for help. Don't make them feel like you're a waste of their time, and don't act like you're more in need of a cuddle and a tissue than urgent medical care. If you're admitted then work with your team not against them. If you don't like the wait times in ED, don't add to them. Its called an emergency department for good reason. If you don't have one, go see your gp or phone a friend... ♥️

I'm an American who had to spend 2 weeks here due to a sudden brain hemorrhage. I spent time in the HDU and the rest in the observation unit on the 8th floor (neurology level). The hospital itself it old and outdated but it will be leveled soon and re-built in an adjacent area in the next few years. The staff are already excited to move into a "new" facility and I can't blame them. The equipment in the hospital itself is fine and modern, it's just the infrastructure itself that needs updating. For a solid 2 weeks I was treated extremely well by all members of staff. Doctors, nurses, physios, management, etc. were all super friendly and helpful. I never ran into a single person over the course of 2 weeks that was in any way unhelpful. They all kept me posted along the journey I had. Doctors and the surgery team visited me every morning with updates and a gameplan. Nurses were all over me doing their jobs correctly the entire time making sure I got my medicine and always checking on me. Never once in 2 weeks did I have to ask what was next or ask for information about my status or recovery. Furthermore, when you are in a place that long, you tend to see the same staff over and over. I became quite friendly with a number of the nurses and in a weird kind of way I'm kind of sad to leave as I doubt I'll ever see these people again. I can only compare this to the one hospital stay in America I had 4 years ago, and let me tell you there is a NIGHT and DAY difference versus my experience there. So, all these reviews complaining about POW hospital, let me tell you, you don't know how good you have it! This hospital is OVERLY precautious compared to America where my stay would have probably been 2 days instead of 2 weeks because they dump you on the street as long as you have a pulse! Just wanted to add this review and thank everyone who cared for me over the past few weeks in the neurological department. Keep doing what you are doing and best wishes in your new building in a few years time.

While my surgeon at the hospital was excellent the nursing staff were very varied in their care. Here are some examples: -Staffing levels were so low that while my daughter was in pain and vomiting it took ages to get any assistance. We were in bed using a bin during the time. -The rooms could have been cleaned more often. We had bins full of vomit bags left in the room overnight and they were only cleaned when I asked. -My daughter needed pain relief for two operations they could not locate her file so were unsure what time to give her the medications they eventually found the lost file by then the pain was very bad - unforgivable. Lost files? -Some of the nurses had no idea how to even place her in the bed. One nurse put her into bed lopsided which caused pain on her hip after the bone graft. I had to move her myself. -She was given pain medications that caused bowel issues but we were never told that from the beginning or a history was never taken to see if she has problems in this area. A doctor later admitted she should have had to take additional medications with the pain killers to avoid future problems from day one. -We also left with no discharge summary documentation from the doctor or detailed care plan which meant that two days later we had to call an ambulance when the medication caused problems. We were also not told about the possibility of blood clots (and mgt) until we saw our gp. We did not receive any printouts about woundcare. As discussed her surgeon was excellent and some of the nurses were in fact good but overall the experience was sketchy and at times very upsetting. Not good enough.

What a nightmare at the private. I had better experience for a one night stay in the public sector. On arrival for a 13:30hrs appointment, was told to come back in 1 hour as there is no seating room available and then a after a further hour still no seats. Managed to find seating back down stairs in main foyer. All up wait 5 hours. Screwed up my birth date on p/work added 20 years to my life. Operating room was filthy from previous operations of the day. Found myself walking around outside main entry 03:30 am after operation. 24 hrs later after fastening, breakfast was powdered water egg and a bread roll ..yuck!! Discharged in the morning in pain, feeling ill and still high on drugs with some info about rehab that i can't remember. I cant believe they wanted to kick me out so early 8 hours later in severe pain so very weak with no food for more than 36hours. Hospital or Hospital Pharmacy in the hospital would not give pain relief medications unless i paid, even though it was through insurance. Had to ring hospital next day to ask what medication should i be on because i was in so much pain. Nursing staff was a 60/40 hit. 40% had some serious issues with attitude and people care. The whole experience reminded me of that 4 corners report on live cattle export to Indonesia. What a big slide downhill private has taken from 20 years ago, or hang on.. are they now mixing private and public together..? My comparison comes from previous experience overnight stays from public hospital system 2-3 years ago Good luck

Friday early morning: The triage nurses were worthless. I witnessed the triage nurse, Tori, and her colleagues abuse patients seeking help. She called security on a gentleman from America who said he saw a doctor and politely asked where the medicine he was promised was four hours later who politely asked where it was three times over four hours. She should be investigated. She claimed the hospital has a zero tolerance policy and he was abusive. SHE WAS UNPROFESSIONAL AND ABUSIVE. The hospital needs to investigate how many times she has pulled this on patients. She is the problem. She is putting patient's mental and physical health in danger. There were other patients she was rude to, dismissed and I even saw her laugh at one. Security, a 300 pound obese tan skinned man, told the American he was not speaking to someone who worked at the hospital, which he was, and then threatened the American that he will be thrown out of the hospital if he continues. The American said get away from me and get your boss and called the hospital. Security ran and Tori said the American was recording (he showed his phone to Tania and said it was just another example of Tori lying to abuse the patient) and reported the patient. Another patient confirmed to Tania that the staff was the problem. I wanted to speak to Tania but she left the waiting room. I will never take anyone to this hospital or return. How dare you allow your staff to abuse people and use such horrific lies and tactics to not help people.

The worst hospital ever! We’ve been there for 3 times referred by my mom’s travel insurance company. Every single time we had to wait for a treatment for 4 hours. The staff is very sloooow and poorly qualified. My mom had 2 wrist fractures and she has been put 2 casts incorrectly. The first one was heavy and clunky put by a JMO in the emergency department. The second one was put incorrectly without fixing the thumb. I had to argue with the doctor And a physio but they were terribly dumb. During our last visit we waited for 3,5 hours though we had an appointment at 1pm in the outpatient clinic. The staff is absolutely disorganized and they even haven’t examined my moms wrist once they removed the cast and didn’t want to send her to do a follow up x-ray! Her wrist was extremely sore, but physio trainees wanted her to repeat exercises they demonstrated. They most stupid question we were asked there twice: “where did you get that cast? It’s so loose!”. I said: “that’s your job actually!” And they giggled. In a couple of days my mom flew back to Russia and went to a doctor straight away. The follow up x-ray shows she still has a fracture and the doctor prohibited exercising, and prescribed to wear an elastic bandage for at least 3 weeks, some medications and physiotherapy. That was a result of unacceptable and unprofessional work of doctors at POW!!!

The Private hospital looks very run down, dirty in places and just old and in desperate need of a reno! Most of the staff seem to be from overseas as I only saw 1 Aussie staff member in the 4days I was there so sometimes trying to understand their English is a little trying, With that being said I had 2 really nice nurses (Jenny Vietnamese) and (Cara Malaysian) both lovely and Caring. Unfortunately I had to share a room with one other person even know I have full Private health, Seems like the elderly and or females have the preference to a single room. Now onto the food, I don’t really have anything positive to say regarding the food except that it was better than having nothing to eat! Id suggest taking in Snacks or getting loved ones to bring food in for you as its pretty disgusting. Most of the other staff (cleaners/nurses assistants and orderlies all seemed to be hating the job, they had sour looks on their faces and everything was a hassle for them. I Asked an indian lady who dropped the food off if she could please help my pick up the bed remote and her first response was NO SORRY WE CANNOT! After I asked again she reluctantly did! So in wrapping this review up, all I can say is I would really hate to be super sick or have to spend a long time in the prince of whales! Once again big shout out to my lovely nurses.

I went to emergency for severe pain that I had been enduring for two days.. I had asked four times for pain killers, they responded with someone will be with you shortly… 6 hours later I received some treatment… during the time leading up to this 6 hours I was never checked on, I was provided with no updates… During the total of 10 hours stay at the hospital I was not offered or received any food or water as well.. when I was being discharged I spoke to the lady at the desk to let her know I was leaving and she just starred at me when I said hello and responded with “yes?” I can barely walk and cannot drive, when I tried to get medication the lifts were not working and the chemist was up the other end of the building… Conclusion to my experience at Prince of wales? By far the worst experience I have ever had in a hospital… staff were not friendly, some were even rude, there was no professional courtesy or concern being shown.. my issue wasn’t even resolved… I’m sorry but this simply isn't good enough.. I understand that hospital can be hectic and they can be understaffed but when you see piles of staff walking around have a good old chat and a coffee it doesn’t feel like the are that under the pump… Definitely don’t recommend this dump of a hospital…

Non existent communication between medical staff & NOK - Dietitian accused me of 'neglecting' my elderly mother who had been placed on a low fat diet by Gastroenterologist for her gallbladder disease! Cheek! Irony was that my mother lost 3kg under this dietitians CARE! The nursing care has been very sloppy compared to when I was working there as a registered nurse. - There were of course a few exceptions which is why I have awarded one star! - However, my mother was given strong aperients twice per day despite having diarrhoea from it's effects Despite that I was there every day for ten days I only saw a member of the medical team (a resident) ONCE - on the day she left hospital!- The tea lady was very nice! (True!) - And two student nurses - Sarah & Nicole - were lovely! But I saw too many errors - One instance was when my mother phoned me in severe pain bc her call bell went unanswered - I advised her to call out & overheard the nurse who responded telling my mother to 'stop calling out as she was 'disturbing other patients' (!) She was shocked to find me on the line - I told her to give my mother pain relief & organise a bladder scan - elementary really. I witnessed many nursing care 'issues' - Too many. My advice is to try your luck elsewhere.

I have had a couple of experiences with this hospital and have had some problems specifically at the Emergency area. The first time I had my face swollen and didn't know why. Had to wait for a couple of hours before I was checked only to hear that they didn't know what I had and that it should go down by itself. It did eventually but I could have done that prediction myself. I didn't feel I had to pay over around over $300 and wait for more than 3 hours to be told that. The second time it was my wife that was having problems. She had been sick to her stomach for a couple of days when her period hit her causing some complications, pains and nausea. She had been throwing up for the whole day before we decided it was an emergency and decided to visit the Emergency room. Since we where in a hurry to get to the hospital and don't own a car (had to catch a taxi) we forgot to bring any ID for her. The check in nurse was very unpleasant and didn't show the minimum ounce of care. She made everything painfully slowly while reprimanding us for not bringing IDs. Medibank made a mistake with our insurance and made the whole situation incredibly more unpleasant and complicated. We had to leave with a lot of frustration.

Unfortunately I had the opportunity in visiting Emergency. As I was deemed non-urgent I was left waiting 4 hours before I was seen despite being referred by a GP suggesting I was tended to immediately. Once I finally was called up to see the doctor, I had a nurse try and re-do all the upfront tests the triage nurse had completed an hour before and had no idea they had been done?! I was then seen by a total of 4 doctors over a course of 2 hours (most of which was sat waiting around) until at 4am I was told I was staying overnight! No explanation or anything, an admin lady came into take my signature and she told me that I would staying and surprised the doctor hadn't informed me! Overall the staff are caring but seemed disorganised - perhaps due to bring understaffed? Emergency waiting area and individual consultation rooms were not comfortable and could do with a refurbish. In the end, despite the waiting, tests and being seen by 4 docs, they had no explanation for my pain and while there is not always an answer, I would have expected further tests be done until they ruled all possibilities out....this was not done.

The 12/03/2019 at about 18.30 I had a small accident in the carpark with a member of the hospital. At the beginning she did not want to provide her name despite my partner and I told her several times to exchange our generalities and let us go as our daughter just had a facial plastic surgery and she wasn't feeling well. She replied, in her own words, "and I have just finished to work!". Then the woman did not believe that my generalities were real infact I had to prove it with few documents. She also threatened us to get in front of our car and not let us go home. In the end, thanks to another patient who came and calmed down the lady, we were able to get on our way home. My partner, my daughter and I feel abused and we are very shocked that an hospital staff member treated us that way. I don't feel like I should write her name on here, I would like to be contacted by somebody via email and talk about it. Especially because Wednesday I will have to come back at the hospital to get my daughter checked and I would like to avoid meeting that lady again. Thank you.

Dr. George who was in charge in the emergency department on 2nd of May for the Night Shift 2023 had intentionally made for my mother Claire four stokes , he put her on the heart monitor and that’s all what he did the monitor showed Atrial Fibrillation, high pulse and high blood pressure. Dr George promised me to do MRI as soon as possible ,but MRI was done after 3 days of her admission and meanwhile dr. George refused to give her any medication by injection to take off Atrial Fibrillation which in turn make blood clots and the high blood pressure medication off course I did not ask him to give her Eliqis (anticoagulant) until the result of MRI , and meanwhile blood clot was produced because she was on continuous atrial Fibrillation , by the way, the international medical protocol for stroke management is MRI to be done immediately when the patient is admitted to the emergency department but what happened my mother was intentionally harmed, oh ! , I am speechless , and I will let the public to give the right judgment for this incident !!!!!

Hospital is completely understaffed. Waited 4/5 hours to be seen after amputating 90% of index finger as they "forgot about me", this was a week night, not even a weekend. Was then told to come back the next morning for op, fasted, was waiting from 9am until 4pm and told I "might" be seen that day by overly rude nursing staff, not help at all, don't do the job if you don't like it! Waited until the FOLLOWING afternoon to finally go into surgery. (Fasted for over 48hours now) Reception staff struggle to make appointments to the correct dates and when confronted by their mistake, turn it into your problem, again no help. Trainee nurses seem to struggle with what they are doing, and don't fill you with a lot of confidence, I had to go online to find out what I could and couldn't do regarding movement etc. So so so bad, the only people in here that are worth anything are the doctors and surgeons, the rest is just laughable. THE LIST COULD GO ON FOR DAYS!! AVOID THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICE!!

Dr Alan Dao, Orthopedic Surgeon. Carried out my shoulder replacement surgery 12 months ago now. All seems to be going ok, some on going pain which is apparently to be expected after this major surgery. My shoulder was a mess after a Major Bicycle fall. I could not move my arm up or out for over 12 months. After seeing him, in his rooms. Found he could do my surgery thru the public system. Just had to wait. Covid extended that wait. Eventually surgery done outcome positive I can now reach up for things and out and carry things. Total reverse reconstruction, major surgery. Being 72 and active still cycling, I needed to be able to function my right arm again. Rehab was long, Physio every week plus home exercises. Follow up with him in his out patients clinic. I may need to see him in the future for a long term assesment and some pain management issues. But otherwise can recommend him. Professional and quite a Jolly man. Staff at POW I could not fault. Food well oh hum.

My sister has just passed away. It is too late and we are very disappointed with how this situation was handled. We kept contact through email and phone, asking permissions for a visit, and we understand that NSW on lock down, however we were told that if the situation is getting worse for my sister, they can make an exemption to visit just for a few minutes. But as of this morning, the hospital have called and stated that this is her last moments, we still cant even visit her. Under the pretense that i might spread Covid to her due to having just arrived 10 days ago from overseas and on hotel quarantine (although we were checked 3 times in preparation that the hospital might let us visit, and we have never contracted the Virus and we are FULLY VACCINATED), We were given hope everyday that they might let us visit if the situation kept getting worse. It is such a shame on how this situation was handled especially for our grieving parents.

I want to thank the staff in the oncology ward for their care and attention to my father during his recent stay in June. All the nursing staff were very professional and compassionate. I particularly want to thank the nurses who applied CPR to my Dad when he suffered a Code Blue event. The speed with which they attended and rendered assistance was amazing. So many staff rushed to his aid, I was impressed by the apparent value they placed on his life. Given that one doctor wanted me to agree not to resuscitate him prior to this event it was very re-assuring to find so many other medical staff who cared. My father is still recovering at home but also wishes to thank the nurse who acted so quickly to save him. I realise the elderly can be seen as a burden on the health system but the value of someone's loved one (who enjoys a good quality of life) being around for any amount of time is priceless. So many thanks to the nurses.

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr Marc Langbart, Dr Wenchang Wong, Dr Julia Crawford Without them I could not have gone through the life changing operation. I am lost for words (well I’m not usually lost in the written word). Enough to say I will always think of them as my saviours. Their knowledge and their demeanour. I can no longer go to POW, not because of my wonderful team but because I spoke against a surgeon who was unbelievable rude. I was abused by two surgeons on two occasions. They had never seen me, were not part of my team.A staff member witnessed the first abuse. A second verified their names. I put my abuse in writing. No one has ever contacted me. I haven’t had any emotional support at all. This is how Dr Charlie Teo practiced for so long. It is a very sad world. My strength has been taken away. But the memory of Dr Langbart, Dr Wen Chang Wong and Dr Crawford still have a place in my heart.

Went into ER because I was having severe stomach pains. They got me in quickly, scanned me up. Put me on pain meds. The initial nurses were lovely but when they put me into my own overnight room the older nurse was just rude and told me to stop whining. Gastroenterologist came in later that morning and told me it was because of my diet, dismissed me and cut me off the pain meds I actually really probably needed… they didnt bother to do further testing. Fast forward 3 days and I get test results back from a GP because I didn’t trust the hospital with the diagnosis. Low and behold… a pretty serious condition, potentially life threatening if left untreated was found. Moral of the story, get a second opinion, even a third opinion from another medical professional because i was assured that the gastroenterologist was at the top of his field… nice work sir, let the team down.

I came into the emergency department at 12:30am on Saturday 17 May as my partner had a deteriorating mental health condition. The triage nurse was extremely dismissive of her condition which exacerbated the situation as a result. Whilst I understand that engaging with an individual whose mental health has deteriorated can be challenging, I'm extremely disappointed in the handling of the situation. I observed that there was no empathy or a desire to understand the situation from the triage nurse. This is concerning given that the triage nurse was one the first points of contact for my partner and a hospital. Notwithstanding, I'm extremely thankful and appreciative of the Mental Health team at the hospital for their patience and understanding of my partners situation. You all turned a negative situation to a positive one and really took your time to assist my partner.

Service was good, doctors and staff were nice. But bad experience all in all. I am an international student. I got a kidney stone and had to attend to this hospital in emergency. After I was discharged I paid 964$ for 8 hours being there and doing some tests and morphine injections. When I claimed the invoice to my insurance-provider (nib) they paid me back 414$, when I asked about the difference, the insurer told me "because you are a non-eligible patient (I don't have a PR so no medicare), the hospitals are free to charge you more than standard rate (determined by Health Department) as much as they wish!" Then I called hospital to talk about this matter that they'd better exempt international students from their huge extra rates, instead of addressing my point they refused impolitely like: "If you want discount, we do not offer it! Any other inquiries?!!"

I would like to highly rate the staff in the Emergency Department at The Prince of Wales Hospital. In particular, Kathy, the Nurse Unit Manager, for her outstanding care in triage & Dr John Dowes at handover. I have been there for the last 5 hours as a support person. In that time, i observed first hand, sitting in a Covid safe room next to the ambulances arriving to Emergency, our Health Care Workers at their outstanding best. I am overwhelmed & humbled by the outstanding display of professionalism, motivation & commitment shown in every aspect of their jobs. I truly can't express to you all, what a wonderful, extremely well managed, clean, humane, professional, environment it is. I was absolutely amazed & impressed by your Security Staff too. Mature gentlemen, excelling in every capacity. Thank you All.

We are Europeans, on a two-month Australian tour. Right in the beginning of it, I needed to go to emergencies to a nearby Hospital due to, to me unknown, severe pain. Dr. MATT DAVIS from the emergency unit of the Prince of Wales Hospital was exceptionally caring, kind and thorough in his approach towards diagnosis and amazing in his aftercare, even calling me to see how I felt, a few days after my visit. This is very special in times of artificial intelligence and unpersonal treatment, the reason why I am very grateful having met with this special person. The hospital is brand new, even to the point that the taxi would not know where the new entrance was. The professional team and equipment gave me a lot of confidence, especially being so far from home on a different continental altogether.

Had day surgery on my back 10 May 2016. Staff were incredible from start to finish. Ensured you knew the care team looking after you and encouraged you to ask questions. The anaesthetist Matt was lovely and explained in detail what was going to happen. Dr Parkinson did an amazing job and also went to great lengths to allay any fears about the surgery. Once back in my room the nursing staff on floor 6 were outstanding and so attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A message had been left by a previous patient thanking staff for the great work. So clearly my treatment was not unusual. Special thanks to Sinnead who went above and beyond . The room was spotless and comfortable. Food was surprisingly good. If I ever need to have another procedure would have no hesitation in returning.

Hi. I had to go to the Prince of Wales hospital at Ranwick 3 times in the last 12 months to repair my brain aneurysm and the follow up angiograms. Words are not enough to explain my heart felt gratitude and appreciation to not only my wonderful Neaurosurgen Jason Wenderoth but to every single individual who helped me get through this stressful time in my life. From the moment I walked through the front doors each time I was there to the time I walked out, everyone from the admission section, the wonderful nurses and all the other medical staff were simply so professional, friendly and most certainly caring while I was there. So from me it's a hugh thankyou for everything you all did for me and everyone who has to spend time there. Well done and stay safe Cheers Greg Ball

My husband was admitted into POW for emergency surgery to remove a very large tumor from behind his optical nerves and pressing onto glands of the brain. From the time we arrived at the emergency ward he received nothing but the best treatment. The resident doctors were amazing with their continual consultancy with three different departments treating him. They had numerous meeting to confere with the best way in which to proceed. Always keeping us up to date with what was happening. The nursing staff were amazing as were all the different staff we came in contact with from the cleaners up. Cannot think of one complaint. Just love to wish everybody envolved many thanks for their marvellous work.

  • Iasmim Bianchi

I've been here in two different occasions. The first one was really frustrating, but I thought that it could be a problem with the sector. Yesterday (Monday) I came here with kidney stone, the doctors and nurses from the emergency were amazing, however, once I was take to level 10 and afterwards to urology surgical department, I had the worst experience of my life. My sergury have been more than 5h delay. That is I've spent 24h in a hospital for a.ct and a kidney stone removal - WITHOUT FOOD AND WATER!! The staff are the worst, rude and without any sympathy. Rather than listen they always say "but you came here to be save..we are saving you" worst hospital ever

  • Sarah B

I was promptly admitted via emergency by friendly staff..... I am a registered nurse and was admitted as a private patient.... Every member of staff was friendly and personable. I had surgery the same day... Nurses, Doctors, surgeon, anaesthetists... Recovery nurses were all lovely.... I had to be in a 4 bedded shared room and the facilities were old and run down.. But the hospital is clean and I was more than happy for my health fund to be paying the hospital to better the current facilities.... My entire stay...which ended up being overnight, was completely better than I had expected... Totally happy and have been singing POW praises ever since.

By far the most exceptional experience I’ve had. One doctor in particular who works in prince of wales emergency her name is Dr Ishara Hassim. No words can describe my gratitude towards you. I Presented to emergency in such a bad state this Young lady treated me with care pain relief and had me seen as soon as she could. Never have I ever had a great experience at any Ed department but this time in particular was by far the best care I’ve ever had. A massive Thankyou to Dr Ishara Hassim for being so nurturing understanding and helpful with my situation it’s individuals like this who we need more of in all health departments.

  • cindy indiana

Went to the emergency department on friday evening around 19.44 on my seriously sick hardly breath condition and paid $294. Had to wait 3 hours apparently the unfriendly young receptionist told me there were another 2 ppl in front of me still waiting so that’s mean i needed to wait for couple more hours. What a long wait!:) i better stayed home and took a rest for the whole 3 hours+. Ended up asked the other friendly receptionist ( older ladies around 10pm ish i like them so much thanks for the info). And only will get my $149 refund :).. take care of yourself and health everyone. So you dont need to go rush to emergency ♥️

  • Chicknenchi

My grandma was admitted here and the doctors kept delaying her dialysis for months when she was last stage kidney disease until she was at her worst condition and we had to take her to the emergency department. Due to neglect and trying to prevent her condition from becoming worse, they only take action when one is on the verge of death despite if one suffers from pain. The amount of gaslighting when trying to express our concerns…. They don’t take immediate action to prevent at an early stage. I can go on and on but honestly there’s nothing to expect from public healthcare. Nurses were polite and well trained though.

  • Prods Lerix

A patient enters this private wasteland and is pushed beyond the limits of their illness before one of the hopeless nurses decide to intervene, as though trying to see how far they can possibly push a human to the point of near death, like some sort of Houdini stunt. And on the other hand, a visitor walks in here with genuine calmness and concern, yet is forced to leave wondering whether they need to commence anger management sessions due to the sheer frustration from the absolute careless, putrid, imprudent and foul behaviour displayed by the nurses and staff. They are more ailing than a patient’s ailment.

  • Pamela Ang

I went to the POW Emergency department on the Friday night leading into the Anzac Day long weekend suffering severe chest pain. From the moment I arrived at Emergency, and over the following days in the respiratory unit on level 4 until my discharge, almost without exception I was treated with the utmost care and kindness. My stay had the potential to be quite nightmarish, but the wonderful staff I encountered during my stay - both doctors and nurses - made it all very bearable. A big thank you to all those involved in my care! You make POW an outstanding hospital by the positive, caring culture you foster.

  • Amanda Goodson

My husband and me went there for the birth of our baby girl. Worst hospital ever. The air conditioning was on full blast the whole time we were there and my wife and my new born daughter got very sick. If your thinking of going there for a new born don't do it. My other experience at north shore was way better. Also huge staff shortages make you wait forever only to then tell you that they will get back to you. Food is disgusting we just left it every day and went down to the cafeteria for take away. The service from mid wife's and so on after the birth was appalling. Keep away go anywhere even public

  • Ferdinaly Carl

I've only had great experiences here. Whether I've been taking my son or going for myself or visiting friends. The 1 star reviews generally show how understaffed and underpaid our hospital staff are. I don't think they go into this incredibly difficult job wanting to be frazzled and stressed due to long hours and worries about rent etc due to low pay. I wish people would complain to the Health Department or government instead of taking it out on the nursing staff who really seem to be trying to do the absolute best they can (and no, I'm not a nurse there!). thanks to all the staff for being awesome!

  • Dikshant Goel

The worst emergency in the whole world. You should rather stay at home and suffer the pain rather than go there. Being an international student i had to pay $294 for nothing but just waiting for hours. In the end, i had to give up and leave for home as the doctor didn't see me. The receptionist was extremely rude and had no clue what was going on inside. Wonder if it's the emergency or harrassment room. Quoting the receptionist- "2 hours is not a long wait in emergency room". Then why is i called emergency when there's a long wait. Harrassing people should be the name given to this emergency room.

  • Robert

Great job in emergency before Christmas. My thanks to Joel on duty ,Morgan the Paramedic (who loves her job!) ,all the staff and the nurse who was in the Randwick library and looked after me during a recent heart episode I experienced. Prompt attention ,professional and caring. Paramedics and Emergency staff operate frequently under very trying conditions with difficult patients ,relatives and friends. They always try to act in your best interests so let them do their job ,show them respect and let them get on with it. Further scan at POW in May 2019.great work guys and very efficient.

  • Kathy Gregory

A friend was rushed to the hospital and they have private health insurance. The hospital staff pressured them to use their private health insurance to pay their hospital bills rather than Medicare. Plus, the hospital administrator said that the hospital would pay their excess. This is WRONG. When you go to a public hospital as a private patient there is no excess. What a rort! Don't use your private health insurance for public hospitals. That's why your premiums are going up. It's the Government's responsibility to fund hospitals from our taxes not to give our money to the Ukraine.

  • Stephanie Hentschel

Went to Price of Wales emergency department on 16th July after I had a slip/fall on stairs and was in a lot of pain in my lower back and issues moving. Triage nurse gave me pain killers. After 4 hours wait I saw a doctor who checked my back, legs and diagnosed bruising. She send me home with painkillers, not doing a scan etc. as she said "you would be in more pain if something would be fractured". Pain remained over the next days so I ask my GP for a CT scan. It turned out I have two fractured vertebraes on my lumbar spine... Very careful not doing any images for a spinal injury!

  • Yudi Muttaqin (Odi)

Great and professional care from all hospital team, very caring nurses and doctors. I was admitted to 6/11 ED and discharged from DB4 ward 17/11. Thank you so much for doing such amazing care to nurses Marcella, Shiela, Alyza and all nurses from DB4 (sorry forgot some of your names). Big thank you to Dr. Mathobi, Dr. Rose, Dr.Hamish, Dr Daniel from DB4 ward, Dr. Edmund from ED and Dr Nick from Broncoscopy room and all doctors that cared for me that I didn't have a chance to know their names. You are all truely heros. May God bless you all. Well done Prince Wales Hospital!

  • Elke Chimeg

Worst emergency have ever experienced. After 2 hours waiting wast told average waiting hours will be 5 hours. I paid $300 because I have private insurance. Since, was hard to wait with my swollen ankle for 5 hours-asked for refund to go to another hospital tomorrow morning. But a front desk lady yelled at me via microphone that she can’t return and also she will charge more for blood test and xray. I knew about the cost and I didn’t ask her to explain about blood test or xray cost. It wasn’t about money but it was soo rude yelling at me on front of many ppl.

  • James Ray

I have been here a couple of times. One time, I waited during emergency hours for about 7 hours. My issue was not considered to be urgent (it was a pain in my jaw), so any more urgent patients arriving were served first. The reception was not able to advise on how long I would have to wait. They should've told me that I would be better to come back during business hours. Finally, during a time when no more urgent cases were coming in, I was able to see a doctor, who asked some questions and suggested that I come back during business hours.

  • DN Tuấn TV

I was in the emergency after an assault. They would not care less but let me sit there to wait for a psychiatrist at 4am in the morning, after I was brought in by an ambulance. I ended up being able to lay down on one of their beds, took the medicines, and was woken up by the nurse at 7.30am to ask me to discharge. If that’s the way you want to treat someone just because they are not bleeding or in life threatening situations, think again! You just don’t give a s*** about people who struggle mentally do you?

  • Brendan Hile

I came here for a back surgery. The surgery was top notch and very successful. I was in ward 6 north. The nurses could not be faulted. They were extremely intelligent, caring, gentle, friendly, professional and to top it all beautiful. They always said never hesitate to push your buzzer and were always quick. The food was very good and i actually really enjoyed the food while i was here. If you have a choice of where to be unwell or in pain do it there. The staff do all that can to minimize your discomfort.

  • Jerry Jerry

Smokers not fined when they need to be as not patrolled when big signs outside hospital clearly state no smoking on premises; as there is a designated smoke area. Second hand smoking is dangerous and worst than first hand smoking #facts #truth. Not enough benches outside the hospital to sit on to wait or just eat lunch, which is so unacceptable as don’t want to sit the staff tea rooms or the hospital cafe as they are all filthy and people coughing everywhere #germs #covid #monkeypox #influenza #TB #facts.

  • Simona Larosa

I had surgery on Monday, nice nurses, Anesthesiologist, doctors and all staff, very helpful and supportive, very sensitive about my situation, but I wish a bit of shame for who came at 2.00 in the morning screaming "good morning, good morning" while me and other patients were having a rest after surgery. I understand waking up in the night for an emergency after a long day is stressful, but is not patients fault!!! That action resulted very... Sad! For the rest I can just say thanks a lot

  • David Tomlinson

My wife Denise was admitted by ambulance yesterday morning. The ambulance paramedics were attentive, concerned and helpful until she was admitted. From the time she was admitted we found all of the team there to be just as attentive and helpful whilst also efficient and effective. We noticed that they were also just as helpful and friendly to each other which, while it could not make our experience enjoyable, made it much more bearable. We can only say thank you and commend all involved.

  • Thi Nguyen

World class hospital. We are so lucky to be admitted into the Prince Of Wales Hospital. All the Drs, Nurses, Specialists etc.. should get the highest salary before any professions. Because they saved our life. They worked extremely hard, they risks theirs lives to save us. Where are you the Health Minister? Wouldn't you like to be coming out of hospital alive? Please help all the front lines workers to help us. They needed financial help as much as we needed them to save our lives.

  • Viktoria Vukovich

What a fantastic hospital! All the nurses and doctors were unbelievably helpful, super patient and friendly. I've never been in a hospital before and have a phobia of needles but they were so nice and explained everything to me to make me feel more comfortable. I stayed overnight and had surgery. My doctor (Dr. Francis Lam) is a superhero and performed a miracle. I can't believe how positive this whole experiece has been. A huge thank you to the nurses and doctors. You are awesome.

  • Frank shi

After explaining my situation to the nurse, she proceeded to take my blood for a blood test. However, the doctor later informed me that a blood test was unnecessary. While waiting for the doctor, I overheard the nurse discussing my situation and making derogatory remarks. Their voices were loud enough for everyone in the room to hear. Additionally, I had to wait for 2 hours in the emergency room. I am extremely dissatisfied with this experience and have no intention of returning.

  • Alyssa Hardy

The Dr I saw was extremely dismissive to my injury. I definitely felt rushed and felt like he didn't believe it and was more focused on other unimportant aspects of the story. UPDATE. As I continue to have outpatient appts, I realise how woefully bad this hospital is at communication and empathy. I have had admin staff roll their eyes at me, tell me incorrect information, send me around the hospital for new reason, and fail to acknowledge their mistakes.

  • Lauren Jensen

Stayed overnight post surgery and was frequently denied a private room even though this has been requested pre-admission and i was having panic attacks with difficulty breaking post anaesthesia. Upon walking down the corridor i was shocked to find multiple private rooms empty. Found nurses to be lazy, not coming when i pressed the call button or dumping you meals out of reach for the patient so that by the time they answered my call food was cold.

  • Rick Pertovtrick

Wouldn't let me leave staff put their hands on me when I tried to leave after not getting any correspondence and what corresponding there was, was lies or inaccurate. I came in disorientated from seizures and also I suffer partial damage from a brain operation. No compassion from those who're there to take care of people, instead had security try intimidate me, I had no way home i wasn't even allowed to use phones to contact my next of kin

  • Paul C

SPINAL ACUTE WARD - LEVEL 1 Spinal staff are helpful and friendly. Due to COVID and lack of staff, new staff are sometimes EN's or new RN's which don't have experience but are still very good. 85% experienced staff. Prior to COVID all staff were highly experienced. NEUROLOGICAL WARD - LEVEL 8 All staff are experienced in Neurological disorders. Friendly & 90% of them experienced. The Nursing unit manager is also very good.

  • Thanh Luu

My mother in law had a brain tumour removed here recently. The operation went well but we had the most awful experience with appointments at the outpatients adult department section A. Wrong dates and times were given on 2 different occasions and then blaming us for their mistake. I feel that it is the same person making all the mistakes and management needs to figure out who as they definitely need a lot more training.

  • John Behan

Unprofessional staff, rude and uncaring . A relative was a patient in the Coronary Care Unit and was neglected , unwashed and without regular pad changes ,pre-covid. The NUM, Emma Devlin is extremely rude and unprofessional . I feel sorry for her staff as I felt they were overworked , under resourced and the CNE ,( clinical nurse educators) and managers are oblivious and seem to be off the ward or hiding in the office .

  • Jaycee Rose Alabanza

I’ve been in the Emergency Department of Prince of Wales, a number of times in my life. I waited a very long time only once. I had only 1 bad experience where I was in observation in bed and I could not get a peaceful sleep as the doctors kept checking on me every hour and kept my light on the whole time. The next day, they forgot to remove the IV from my arm and sent me home. Overall, not too bad experience.

  • Derrik Little

So bad, 5am so there is no one there yet they push you out as soon as they can. I was there 2 days earlier with swollen throat. Tonight i woke up gasping for air. Can't swallow a thing my whole left side of my face is swelled and in pain. But hey he gave me some mouth wash and said my oxygen was okay. I'm in complete distaste about how they treat people completely abysmal. Why are they even there?

  • Victoria Lima

My husband went to emergency with his nose broken and after 7 hours waiting they told him to go home because they couldn’t do anything and wait till someone from the hospital call him to go back. One week later, back to the hospital he’s been here waiting for 9 hours already and 20 hours since last time he had something to eat. We don’t even know if he’ll go home with his nose back on place today!

  • Vivek Thangaswamy

One of worst place. Not one , had so many bad experience. Recently when we waited in emergency for 5 hours with no progress. At 2 am in the morning when we asked, “hi we are waiting for 5 hrs now, can you tell us how long we need to wait more please” Nurse response: people here waited for 10hrs and she turned back. Australia your public healthcare service needs a huge improvement.

  • pankaj shrestha

Worst experience ever. I had my nose bleeding for an hour and I went to the prince of wales hospital, emergency department. I paid $312 in the reception. They told me wait for a while but I waited for 2 hour long and my nose even stop bleeding by that time. Better should have seen to GP instead of paying expensive emergency charges. They don’t care about the urgency of patients health.

  • Tim Watts

The care for my father as a patient in the Dickson South Ward of Prince of Wales Hospital in 2022 was outstanding. He was treated like family by the staff, and when we visited dad through his 60+ days in hospital we were impressed with the care shown, especially when he had to spend Christmas day there. I can't speak highly enough of the care he recieved.

  • Nate Cripps

It's time for all the staff in the hospital to retrain how to communicate with deaf people due to the mark... I have to tell them over and over I am deaf and cannot relip due to mask... they need to think twice when come to deaf is maybe write down or make the effort to book an interpreter as they seem getting to lazy to get interpreter where is my right

  • Max Lunniss

I had a double hernia operation and stayed overnight. What got me more than anything was the staff. Normally you get one or two grumpies. The staff there we genuinely caring and friendly. Not one ounce of attitude, Could not do enough to make your stay comfortable. I can’t believe I am saying this but I actually enjoyed being there.

  • J Ryan

Visited the Nuclear Medicine & PET Department over a course of 5 days for treatment (24-28/7) and the service from (Bev at Reception to the wonderful nurse's Lara & Kerry) from start to end 10/10 - friendly professional & warm. They should be highly commended for their services and for the wonderful job they do each day. Thank you!

  • Jamie Bridge

Came to emergency with severe chest pain and after 5 hour wait had an X-ray done and they found nothing and was sent home .. travelled to GOSFORD hospital the next day had more X-rays done within 2 hours and found 2 broken ribs ..I live 500m from this hospital but from now on will travel the 56 km for medical attention ..

  • J

Had appointment checked in took a seat 10 minutes later was seen to and everything was OK but a lot of construction work going on can make it a bit hard to find where to go if first time there always lots of staff around to ask and as you walk in hospital information desk more than happy to answer any questions you have

  • Diane OConnor

In A & E last night with my brother who is going through chemo and was very sick. Great Dr and Nurses showed a lot of empathy and care. I have been there on several times in ward icu etc and feel so lucky to be zoned for such a great hospital. Thank you so much to all the staff that work there you do such a great job!

  • Jess L

Rude staff, won’t listen to what you have to say. No care factor or urgency. I fainted and they totally dismissed me, cut me off mid sentence. Receptionist yelled out at 1:30am that they are trying their best and for everyone to be nice to the doctors. Fair enough but the wait isn’t worth it if the staff are rude.

  • catkysydney

I was taken to their emergency because of severe headache with vomiting. As the result of CT scan, I was diagnosed chronic subdural hematoma. So I had to stay the hospital for 3 days. During my stay , the doctors and nurses ware so caring . I felt absolutely well looked after ! I sincerely appreciate their help !

  • F K

I called them for an emergency as I gave birth 2 weeks ago and am in a lot of pain. The staff who picked up the phone couldn't care less, refused to transfer my call to the ER and literally hung up on me. I ve never experienced such a rude response from a hospital staff and will never set foot into this place.

  • Thannya Moura

Bad experience, I came having a miscarriage with heavy cramps and I waited for over 2 hours and couldn’t handle it anymore and left the hospital and came back to my home. The receptionist told that is nothing that they can do, and the fastest would be a minimum of 3 hours. Ridiculous the system of health here.

  • Halina Wolak

I can not speak more highly of the staff at the Perioperative Unit. I felt as if I was the only patient there. The treatment I received from the nurses was well and above what I expected. A Big Thank You to Vicky, Niamh, student nurse Michayla and especially Annabelle for her fantastic caring treatment.

  • J Riley

Top hospital. Went to emergency and was impressed with the professionalism of the nurses, doctors and imaging staff. I received excellent treatment and was treated well by everyone. A relative was recently in the Private hospital following major surgery and was well cared for by the nurses and doctors.

  • A H

Nursing stuff I dealt with during my stay on the surgical word were amazing! So kind, so helpful and didn’t make me feel like a burden which I have previously at another hospital. I was scared as how being an adult age opposed to a child staff would have less compassion but that’s not the case at all.

  • Daniel Tocatly

Nearly died from the COLD ROOM, AC is on permnt COLD setting same as outside temp.. with no relief in sight, inspite of my complaint to the helpful but helpless staff who could do nothing !! Take a very warm quilt blanket and warm track suit/pyjamas its a matter of survival of the strong !!

  • Sophia Yuan

I received excellent treatment from the emergency department of POW. All the doctors and nurses were caring and professional, and I felt that I was being taken care of as soon as I was admitted. Massive respect and thanks to everyone fighting on the frontline to keep us safe and healthy.

  • Jaz A

I spent 1 night in the Prince of Wales Private ICU which is in the same building at the public hospital. The staff in ICU where wonderful, extremely caring and helpful. Pamela was one of my nurses and she was lovely, Dr Charlie Teo was the surgeon and he is fantastic. A great hospital.

  • Nelson Luc

I’ve found the staff at Prince Of Wales Hospital very helpful and professional particularly the Eye Hospital unit where we have been coming here for many years. We are blessed to have a world class health system that does not cost you $$$ for every visit. Thank You Dr Downey and staff

  • Michael Owen

Whilst I have no desire to return, all of the staff were always magnificent in the treatment of my terminally ill wife over many years. Professional, warm, kind and empathetic are the only way to describe Professor Friedlander and the entire Oncology team. You will never be forgotten.

  • Duane Ibanez

Extremely disappointing experience. Called to enquire around pricing for a specialist procedure as well as wait times. Slow response rate and the responses themselves were not at all helpful. There needs to be some training around how to deal with customer requests as this was poor

  • Justin Doyle

Disgusting, waited 4 and a half hours to be seen from the doctor, kept being told they’re coming for the last two hours, so many people got put forward before me. I was so extremely sick in the lobby waiting, not sure what else to say. I ended up leaving after all that time.

  • Amira Farah

Dr George caused harm intentionally for a patient my sister , he works in the emergency department of prince of wakes , he did not give her the necessary treatment for her and as a result she passed away this is called Homicide action by Dr George.he must be punished.

  • Jan Townsend

Amazing doctors, midwives and maternity suites. My partner and I stayed for 5 days after giving birth. Exceptional 24/7 care, pain relief provided when needed, clean and serviced rooms, good food and comfy bed for my partner. Highly recommend Prince of Wales Private.

  • Amie Hunter

Doctors here are great nursing staff on night shift talk about panients to much to loud at night I was a painet there with admoial pains and had pain relief I would respect staff to talk in there own time not floor where I could hear them in emergency department

  • Dana

My uncle recently had a knee replacement surgery at the hospital. The surgery was successful and he was discharged within 4days. Staff members are friendly and accommodating. However some patience’s can be rude and demanding towards staff members.

  • Mark Mclure

Brought a patient here once to the only government founded long term mental health facilty in NSW. Massive waitng list but needed very much for treatment resistant consumers. Big grounds can get lost easy as it covers about 4 city blocks

  • Sundar Dangi

With all due respect, emergency ward and the management is pathetic. Management should be ashamed of it. These management are the same people who want their food in 10 min in any restaurant they visit but won’t take human life seriously.

  • Matthew Roberts

I have never been let down by the amazing nurses and doctors with all of my ailments over the years. The staff treated my mother so well after major surgery last year. Blessed to be so close to such a well functioning hospital.

  • Paul Varghese

Recently did my Kidney Stone procedure done at PoW Urology department. The Doctors and Nurses are really efficient and friendly. The Care provided by them is World Class . I will surely recommend them to my family and friends .

  • Dani Leein

very bad attention. I was waiting 3 hours during the early morning and they never let me know the value of the urgency. people sleeping on the chairs feeling pain. lack of doctors and nurses. does not work as "emergencies"

  • Robert Hartmann

This place is a disgrace. Daydeda and Roslyn are real bullies. They don't care about anything except to get their pay and celebrate. Disappointed, disgusted in this place . Chris Minns you got a lot of work to do here

  • Oz Noodle

Rudest COVID testing clinic I have been to. A bunch of rude Russian staff at the COVID Clinic who don't even say hello. Must be hard to find good staff if they are scraping the bottom of the barrel finding these ones.

  • Palden Singhe

Magical hospital! During your wait time all your injuries and illnesses will heal from waiting. Your focus will shift from health to getting tf out. Amazing what coming here can do for your health 10/10 recommend.

Tammy was an excellent night nurse who woke me up very gentle and made sure i was ok. She distracted me from my injury and made my stay very calm and comfortable. I am very thankful to of had her as my nurse :)

Private room in the maternity ward was like a shoe box. Definitely not made to fit a second person if the husband wants to stay as well. Staff were absolutely amazing though which made up for the terrible room.
