L & F Montego is the perfect shopping experience for individuals from the Island. This shop is also good for the local Canadian or individual wishing to find condiments, food and other assorted items not found in your local Canadian supermarket. There are Canadian goods as well but this shopping is for the cooks or someone wishing to start cooking, in your family who might be looking to expand their wheel house of experiences. I find L&F clean and always plentiful with items you require. This is an experience you don't want to miss because you can find all the usual grocery store items. Along with the unconventional cuts of meat such as goat & oxtail. I love visiting L&F simply because after a while if you are from any Caribbean island you tend to crave food that reminds you of being back home. L&F hits all the marks when it come to transporting you back to day when shopping meant brushing elbows with your neighbour in a store so filled with good it's difficult to chose one product to buy. Take the time to walk, bike or drive down to L&F to get your fill of Island shopping in a clean organized environment.

We have tried to support local business in the community, even before COVID. However, the female cashier at Montego makes this very hard to do. She is rude, will often short change you if you pay in cash, and somehow ‘forgets’ to put all your items in your bag when paying. After our most recent visit, we got home and realised that 2 items were missing from our bag. We went back as soon as possible and produced the receipt. We asked for the items we paid for, and were denied. When we pushed the female cashier first accused us of trying to defraud the sore, and then finally agreed to review her security cameras would get back to us. Well, not surprisingly, we have heard nothing. If this was an isolated incident, we would have just let it go. However, this is a reoccurring theme with this particular cashier. While we would love to support a local business, we cannot continue to do so when it means that we lose out financially. We will no longer shop here. Family and friends have had similar experiences, and have also decided to take their business elsewhere.

The gentleman at the store is very polite, friendly and assists customers with any complaints, queries or finding food items. The cashier lady however is very rude and her character is unbecoming of an individual who interacts with customers. Because of her, I won't be visiting this store anymore and neither my friends or families until she is no longer interacting with customers. She was very rude with her communication 3 times with me as I like to give chances. She does not produces the correct change and is rude when asked for clarification, rude when asked for closing time on a holiday weekend by saying "I answered the phone that means I am still opened" and as a regular customer told her friend to act as security when I was about to leave the store. On the other hand, there is a wide variety of Jamaican products and the man is welcoming.

Unfriendly staff, definitely a store Africans and carribeans will find useful items. Both male and female staff we met are not helpful and do not treat their customers friendly... We left without buying anything because of the attitude of the man and woman we met there. Rude and acting as if you were bothering them when asking questions. "Angels come in different shapes, be good to people... Visitors and travelers are like birds, they go far and take with them good and bad news about you depending on your behavior" African proverb.

How lucky are we to have L&F Montego place right here in Orleans? We never have to go elsewhere for our Caribbean products because they are always fully stocked. While the owners are often busy stocking shelves and manning the cash, they are never too busy to answer questions and help find the right items. The best selection of Jamaican patties in town. Our family truly appreciates this store, especially when we need an item within minutes of closing time and they stay open for us. Thank you Leton & Fay!

This place is convenient, clean and organized comparing to other similar shops. I don't like how prices for all items aren't posted, and how the names of the item purchase doesn't appear on the receipt. So it leaves me to have to be vigilant and make sure that I'm not being over charged for items. Other than that I like this Caribbean shop the older lady and gentleman is friendly and I can find everything I need. Sometimes the prices are better there than at the big name grocery stores.

Store is packed with fresh, canned and frozen Caribbean goods. Staff are friendly and helpful. Cost is very reasonable for high quality imports. I travel here from Gatineau to buy goat, oxtail and Caribbean spices. I'm always pleased with the quality of their products. Highly recommended for niche Jamaican ingredients difficult to find at your regular grocery store.

They have a wide variety of products. But you have to check your receipt and change if you pay cash, the lady at the cash is a thieft or can not count cash. Always check your receipt and change before you leave the store. Lots of persons I know have the same complaints. If/when they can work on the aforementioned it would be an amazing place to shop.

Very rude and unpleasant experience at this store over and over again. I would still shop over the years even when things are cheaper at the local grocery but the older woman behind the counter is very unkind. The butcher very friendly but never have a good experience or even a smile at the front counter no matter how much I spend.

Whatever your Caribbean Food needs are Montego Place stocks it . Staff is friendly and it has a nice Caribbean vibe . If you are Caribbean you will run into folks that you haven't seen in a long time . Want a beef , chicken or goat patty ready and hot . Don't forget your Ting or Caribbean juices. Produce is always fresh

If you need Caribbean and African specialty items, this is the place to go in Ottawa! I’m Jamaican and I was able to find a lot of specialty items such as Jamaican patties, buns/bread, cheese, snacks, fruits such as Guinep and mangoes. I would highly recommend to visit if you need items that are hard to find.

You will find lot of products you won't get anywhere else originating from the Caribbean islands. Most of the fresh produce are of really good quality, the customer service is really amazing, and the price is rather reasonable. I particularly love how the shop smells when walking in.

Very nice place although extremely cluttered... but an excellent experience... owner -L- is extremely friendly... it's worth the trip to get your Afro-Caribbean grocery needs.... PLEASE DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PRICING AS THEY CARRY A LOT of specialty goods.... :))

  • Anubis

Food products many lack expiration dates and they almost refuse to throw away spoiled fruits/food, if this was any mainstream grocery chain it would have been shut down a long time ago, they lucky mostly immigrants shop there.

Amazing variety of products! Love buying black soap and cocoa skin butter there!! I also found maskreti leaves the other day which is a great haitian natural remedy. Great variety of teas too!! Love that store. :)

  • John Sankey

My wife comes here regularly for the fresh mangos and flavour of home (Trinidad) that she can't find anywhere else. Very cluttered, and a lot of "don't do this" signs will put off those not of Caribbean origin.

  • Anil Budall

Good selection of Jamaican produce, goods, meats. Selection of black hair products is small compared to Grace downtown and Mama Cees, but is good enough to save you a long drive.

  • Saira Gokal

Just wow, the variety and CLEANLINESS especially how clean everything is inside I am so impressed. I might have to make the 40 minute drive from Bayshore to come back here.

  • Jean Charlebois

You don't have ta shop. One can buy Authentic Jamaican fare there at a good price. Looks like they go through a whole heap of Red Snapper Fish still.

  • Gella Rose

They had such an amazing selection of Easter buns!! Best Carribean grocer in Ottawa. Excellent customer service as well.

  • Garry Gallimore

There is so much product to choose from. One of our family favorites is the patties and the spiced bun.
