Most international congregation I've ever been a part of, and probably one of the most welcoming churches I've ever been to. One of the things which I appreciate about this church is that they steadfastly hold to the Scriptures, and have very expositional (Bible-explaining) sermons, but that they are also trying to carefully contextualize themselves to the 2020s Australian culture. Not in a way which is cheap or dishonoring to God, but in a way which follows the example of Paul who made great efforts to remove every unnecessary stumbling block in order to help people to discover the good news about Jesus. In Alan's earlier review he made some statements which I think unfairly characterize the church. One which I think is worth addressing (because I specifically remember the Sunday when it happened) is his angry statements regarding the Catholic priest who was quoted in the sermon. Until approximately the 1500s, basically all Christians identified as Catholic or Orthodox, and Christians appreciate many of them as having helpful insights into the Scriptures. While this church has major disagreements with many of the beliefs and teachings of the Catholic Church, I think it admirable that when a Catholic priest had a helpful insight into the book of Daniel in the Bible, his work was quoted. If each church completely wrote off anyone who did not 100% agree with it's understanding of truth, then much insight into Scripture would be lost. Another accusation of Alan is that this church teaches the Alpha course. I've helped to facilitate the Alpha course here and elsewhere, and agree with him that it is not a comprehensive theology course. However, given that it is meant to be an introduction to Christianity, and not a comprehensive theology course, I think that is for the best. I personally know of people at this church who have become followers of Jesus as a result of doing the Alpha course, and am glad that this church has intentionally reached out to those who don't yet know Jesus in this way. If you don't know Jesus, or only know some general facts about him, seriously think about coming here and asking if you can do the Alpha course - it's professionally produced by a Christian group in Great Britain, and is an excellent introduction to Christianity and Jesus. I actually don't think that Alan's review is truthful or fairly represents the church, but if you are looking for a church to visit, I encourage you to come and make your own decision. If it is bad, you've only lost one Sunday morning, but if it is great (and I really think it is!) then you may just discover a wonderful church which you might become excited about joining.
A great Church I initially thought until I was exposed to the teaching of a heretical Catholic Priest in a Sermon. His work was recommended and read our loud. This Church is wandering away from the Reformation. It does not comply with the Regulatory Principle of Worship and has introduced division in worship instead of upholding corporate worship as a united body. Additionally it teaches the Alpha course which is rejected by Reformed Churches Generally due to its high Charismatic content and dumbing down of the Gospel. I'd you doubt me look up what prominent Reformed preachers have to say about Alpha. The Westminster Confession receives little or no attention and is disregarded despite parent body adoption as a standard . Basically novel and trendy but only Reformed at a superficial level .
This is a loving community of Christ followers who genuinely care about each other and the faithful sharing of God’s Word. This church has great facilities and loads of car parking.
Mansfield has been a blessing to be apart of. I especially appreciate how intentionally we want to love and honour God in our worship service and relationships.
I owe my life to this Group of genuinely committed follwers of Christ. Everyone is welcomed warmly and encouraged on their journey.
I love the community and welcome I received. The worship is always a blessing and sermon is really Bible based.
