I recently visited the museum gallery with my kids on a free Sunday, and it was truly an amazing experience. One of the highlights for my kids was the scavenger hunt for indigenous art pieces, which added an element of excitement and engagement for them. My only wish is that there were more interactive activities like the scavenger hunt. These activities would undoubtedly enhance the overall experience for both children and adults, making the museum visit even more immersive and memorable. All in all, our visit to the museum gallery was an enriching and enjoyable experience. From the captivating color therapy exhibit to the thought-provoking Victorian portraits and the eye-opening indigenous art display, the museum provided a well-rounded and engaging journey through art and history. It's a place that both educates and inspires, making it a must-visit for families seeking a blend of culture, history, and creativity.

March 2023 I am not an art gallery lover, but today as a tourist in Winnipeg, my day was enjoyable. Admission on the second Sunday of every month is free thanks to Canada Life. The museum was apparently busier than usual, but not crowded. The main floor has an impressive collection of indigenous sculptures. Then the upper floors have permanent and temporary exhibits like any other gallery. The 150th Anniversary exhibit of the Winnipeg Free Press was my favourite area because I could relate to it. Interesting information, and a table where one could create a newspaper article using stamp pads and crayons. There was also a book reading that day in the main floor atrium of a children's book read by the author. She was inspired to write this book by her daughters. This was well attended by patrons, and the book was available to purchase, and of course it could be signed by the author. The gift store had amazing items to purchase at mostly amazing prices. Often original or unique pieces are for display only. Not here though. One could purchase a beautiful original carving for as little as $23,000 CDN. Moccasins, posters, artwork, books, jewelry.....

The WAG has an excellent, well curated collection that really helps you to explore both the Canadian identity and different styles. But for me, I spent my day at the Inuit Sanaugangit Art Across Time exhibit ... fantastic collection of archeological art as well as contemporary -- I guarantee you have not seen this before ... plan two visits, one to scan and see EVERYTHING, and a second to zero in on pieces and themes that interest you. Little children seemed restless but school age and above seemed well engaged. Regardless, families should take time to utilize the craft lounge to help digest and explore what the family has just experienced. Free on second Sundays!!!

this is a must-see attraction for winnipeg. we came on the second sunday of the month which we were excited to learn was free entry! entry fees are very reasonable anyways for all you get to see. we saw gorgeous and informative collections of first nations art. i especially loved the feature in the front foyer where you could learn more about the statues by choosing its number on the touch screen computer and more pictures and details are provided. the gift shop was AWESOME, so many creative gifts priced from surprisingly affordable, to luxury. i have been to many art galleries all over the world and this is one my favourites!

Stunning art gallery that specializes in First Nations, Métis, and Inuit art work and artifacts. The permanent collection of European & Canadian collections of art is breathtaking. The vault, chock full of thousands of soap stone carvings, is truly spectacular. Our company booked the Eckhardt Hall and galleries for our 2021 Christmas party. Doren was a dream to work with as was Sheila from Circa (official caterer of the WAG). The WAG even facilitated a scavenger hunt for all of our guests. Stop by during regular hours to visit the gift shop!

A place you must to see if you like artworks and learn about the history. I felt in love with this place, there are some paintings from the famous painters like Pablo Picasso and more. When you see the paintings from newest to oldest it felt like you’re exploring back to the past which allows us to understand how our civilization evolved over the centuries. It felt so amazing!! You could also learn about the indigenous people history.

My recent trip to WAG-Qaumajuq to see the Inuit art collection was pretty amazing! As a lover of art, I was blown away by the creativity and skill of the Inuit artists. The way the pieces were presented was super cool and I learned a lot about the culture and history behind each one. Plus, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. If you're looking for a unique and inspiring way to spend an afternoon, definitely check out the WAG-Qaumajuq.

Beautiful art and a beautiful building, Have gone here a few times now. Recently went as I saw it was free every second Sunday and the guy said they aren't doing that anymore. Which is totally fine but update your website please, the gallery is located downtowns so lots of people drive or bus there and spend money getting there. It would be nice to know if you are going to spend extra money or not on an entrance fee.

Great afternoon was had. Not the easiest floor layout and end up having to backtrack sometimes. I found the exhibits were not necessarily well defined with signage, but I kind of like to wander everything so stumbling in to a new exhibit was nice. Like I said, I just had to backtrack sometimes to get all the exhibits covered. I really like the unique layout of each room. It almost seemed like no 2 walls were the same, which I feel was great for keeping it an interesting browsing experience.

The old white guy at the admission was pretty rude and I was unimpressed with that as he insisted that I check my purse- with my meds in it- in a locker meanwhile, old women with massive totes were okay to go up, no issue. I find that pretty damn off putting. The exhibits were okay, the WAG really should consider an audio guide with the northern exhibit I think that would have made it really neat.

Lovely building architecture. The art exhibits, nicely displayed, covered a few genres but for me the most enjoyable were the stone carved figures column in the entry but most importantly was the Inuit section. The artistry and craftsmanship represented in the creations was just simply beautiful. A real gem. The staff were friendly and helpful especially the young lady in the cafe.

Very wheelchair accessible, though the gift shop might be a bit tight, automatic doors, medium sized storage lockers near reception. Went during Canada Life Free Sundays (April 2023) and it was a great way to spend time, as always. Staff has always been friendly and helpful in my experience, and exhibits are interesting.

The snack bar has great salads. Lockers for your coats are free. Free entry the second Sunday of each month. Free parking on the streets on Sundays. Never knew they even offered tours until we saw one and were informed it was a private tour. From what we heard it was very interesting and explained a lot.

Do NOT miss this museum. The exhibits span various genres and movements, traditional, modernist, impressionist, expressionist, avant garde. Just incredible. The Métis exhibit A Hard Birth deserves special mention among all the exceptional art. It was so evocative, moving, thoughtful and beautiful. My photos of A Hard Birth didn’t turn out but I have uploaded some others from the museum.

Weddings at the Winnipeg Art Gallery are exquisite! I've had the pleasure of designing the florals for several weddings here, and each one has felt special and unique. The spaces are all stylish and easily adaptable to different styles. The staff is excellent, and are very clear in their instructions and their service. The event coordinators are thoughtful and easy to work with!

More of a 'Pick a topic AND BEAT YOUR VISITORS OVER THE HEAD with it' exercise, then an actual art museum. I have heard from many people that there are more pieces, just put in storage. Probably until they can pull it out and fill the mostly empty space in a situation it fits the theme of... (let's say it together) 'Pick a topic AND BEAT YOUR VISITORS OVER THE HEAD with it'

Went with my kids to an empty gallery and couldn’t believe security followed us and asked us to it fix our masks when my six year old lowered a bit. Plus watched water fountains like high security. Not a pleasant place. My 11 year wasn’t inspired she felt like there was more security watching us then people visiting. The new display was without representation.

World class art gallery especially with it's collection of indigenous and Inuit art, which boasts one of the largest collections on the continent. Beautiful building, that should be seen to be appreciated! Under-valued and often overlooked tourist attractions in the city.

A fabulous birthday surprise compliments of my dear sister was a tour of the gallery. The guest exhibits were especially interesting, and the quality of the art was indescribable. Definitely have to go back another time. Really looking forward to future exhibits.

The displays that were there were very good, but there were a couple display rooms closed to prepare future exhibits. The sculptures on the rooftop were very interesting. Unfortunately there is no secure coatroom area so we had to lug our coats with us. The new Inuit art center will be amazing when it opens in a couple years. Free entry for members.

The gallery is excellent. I would have rated 5 stars but the security of the lockers is doubtful. I noticed all the lockers had been turned to 1234 when I returned obviously someone had been going around and trying to break into them while I was in the gallery.

One of the largest collections I've come across dedicated to Indigenous artwork from the North. It's a really beautiful space and centrally located downtown. I spent an hour there as I came near closing time and it was rushed - I could have used another hour.

I have often performed music in the main gallery for wedding receptions. Altho the acoustics can be a bit challenging, it is a gorgeous venue that people seem to love experiencing while also experiencing one of the most important days in their lives.

Just saw Fever, featuring Winnipeg, symphony, orchestra, Quartet, playing the music of Pink Floyd. Unreal evening, and we will be doing it again. While passing through the hallway in the WAG, could not believe the soapstone indigenous installation.

It was free Sunday so we decided to visit with the family. On level 2 there are some nice soap stone carvings and a few other pieces..... besides that there is very little else to see. Lots of unused space and the main display on the 3rd floor had some inappropriate content. Not much to see here and happy the price was free.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is a must visit in the city. A large permanent collection of art as well as many exhibitions regularly displayed. Make sure to check out the gallery store for interesting items, prints and unique gift ideas!

Went there for impressionism exhibition in the afternoon on Sunday. We happened to be at same time as their free guided tour so joined it. Learned a lot about history, artists and the pieces. They also had aboriginal and contemporary female artists pieces. Enjoyed it a lot.

It's a decently large art gallery, and the collection itself is quite big so the displays change frequently. They host a lot of interesting events too. There's a restaurant on the top floor which can be booked for special occasions as can the main hall on the first.

Stunning inuit art exhibit going on right now. Permanent exhibits are such a treat. Love the old paintings from the 15-1600s. Plan for about 4 hours to breeze through everything.

There was a change of exhibit happening but honestly that didn’t make me the experience less than amazing. I really loved the way it flowed and the choice of pieces that were displayed. And the gift shop has some fun hidden gems.

We went to the qaumajug Inuit Art exhibit. It was a very pleasant visit. The exhibits had good explanations and were educational. I recommend the WAG to anyone who wants something interesting to do. Also a very nice coffee shop.

This art gallery is amazing as the ROM. I was stunned looking at all the pieces of art. My family were very intrigued as well. Definitely sparked a new passion for paintings and art as a whole. Highly recommend :) More

I took my 7 year old as a part of the free entry day. It was lovely. So many interesting exhibits, no pressure to be hush quiet, activities set up to give kids an opportunity to be hands on. We will definitely be back.

I love coming to the Winnipeg Art Gallery, it's always a pleasure to see and revisit the permanent collection and exhibitions. The new exhibitions always astound me, and I love how they all tie together.

Very nice permanent classical exposition with oil paintings up to 500 years old: real magic is to look at them closer. Huge space for temporary excibitions which are pretty innovative and progressive.

Absolutely humbled and amazed by the First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and other indigenous peoples art. The carvings, artistry, use of materials, colours, textures, all so unique and thought provoking.

Awesome sculptures on the outside of the gallery. All 4 floors had wonderfully laid out art exhibits.

We visited for an amazing special exhibit of Greek art. The permanent collection is not large but has a good representation of classic art, modern, and Inuit.

If you like arts; specially the oil paintings around 18s and the historical relics made of stones, you can visit here. Need at least 4 hours to visit it.

Everyone should come visit WAG-Qaumajuq. The exhibits are packed full of wonderful art, too much to take-in in one day so get the membership to go again

Checked it out while it was being renovated so hopefully I can see it when the renovation is complete. Fair size gallery with some spectacular exhibits.
