"I dont normally write reviews, but this is my first time in NYC and Walters is the first and last bar I went to last night!! That one sentence alone should say it all but just in case you need more; it is a sports bar, not to big (which I love) and a DART BOARD! sore :D It has single bathrooms (one for him and one for her), high top tables, at least three tvs and an AWESOME bartender, Learra"
"extremely rude bartender, who is tall white and bald, probably racist"
"My boyfriend and I were visiting New York this past weekend"
Me and my girlfriend were bar hopping and had to use the bathroom while we were coincidentally walking to drink at this bar and while we were waiting to use the bathroom we were kicked out for not greeting the bartender. Mind you he had a full bar and me personally I am a bottle girl so I understand this industry and I tip very WELL as I’m a tipped employee and I did not appreciate the disrespect and he kicked us out while we were waiting QUIETLY for the person who was occupying the restroom to leave so we can relive ourselves and he kicked us out. When we planning to buy well over $100 worth of drinks not including tip. Thanks for ruining my buzz and I hope you learn some etiquette.
Came here upon the recommendation of my AirBnb host; turns out it's his go-to bar for casual hangs, which is just what I was looking for. It was a Saturday evening but not too crowded yet, and I enjoyed a pint of beer at the bar while watching some sports. The bartender was really nice and made a point of checking in on me periodically without being obnoxious. The beer prices and selection were good, and I had a nice relaxing time. it's a totally chill, attitude-free joint, from my experience. When I walked past a few other times on different nights the crowd size seemed to vary, so perhaps some nights are more relaxing than others.
I dont normally write reviews, but this is my first time in NYC and Walters is the first and last bar I went to last night!! That one sentence alone should say it all but just in case you need more; it is a sports bar, not to big (which I love) and a DART BOARD! sore :D It has single bathrooms (one for him and one for her), high top tables, at least three tvs and an AWESOME bartender, Learra. You can tell she knows her stuff. She was very friendly, prompt, knowledgeable, and funny! Thanks for the first impression as they are the most important. Oh, they do not serve food but there is a yummy pizzeria very close by.
extremely rude bartender, who is tall white and bald, probably racist. i politely asked for a dirty martini, the very rude bartender starts telling me they don’t have them they don’t even have olives. i only because i seen it on google. he said “that’s google” … it’s not a big deal that they don’t have the drink i asked for but you could’ve at least suggested something similar instead of telling what what you don’t have and what’s not online. whatever. bad experience. i definitely would’ve stayed and just ordered another drink but i’m not paying for bad service. i work in the industry
My boyfriend and I were visiting New York this past weekend. We are doing a little exploring and happen to pass by Walters. We figured this looks like a cool spot let's try it out. Ended up spending a few hours there and had one of the best experiences at a bar ever. One of the bartenders, Olivia is phenomenal. She's absolutely hilarious. She mentioned that we should move to New York and mentioned that she was looking for roommates. So hopefully if when we come back she still there and still looking for a roommate lol. AWESOME PLACE !
I can’t say enough good about this place. The bartender was so friendly and served us right away. She came over to chat and tell us about the area. She knew most people’s names at the bar. This place has the small town feel that’s impossible to find around here. The owner of the bar was sitting there too and chatted with us. He is prior service, Marines. Everyone was so friendly. The prices were great. I’m so glad I found this place in my neighborhood. I will definitely be back. Excellent establishment!
I stumbled upon this bar after a tedious day of shopping. Dive bar with PBR, pretzels, and chips, SOLD! As soon as I sat down, I was treated by a very friendly bartender named Liara(sp?.) She gave me very fast service while still engaging other customers. She introduced me to some of the regulars and I felt at home in no time. A few PBRs and shots of Jameson later, this is now my new favorite bar! Highly reccommend this place, kickass bartender, And the Jameson doesn't suck either!
Great bartenders! Incredible spot that provides a safe environment for those going out with friends for the night. Great spots for DDs (designated drivers), they offer free seltzer water! (Don’t forget to tip them generously.) Unfortunately, the lower shelf liquor has been diluted. Their drinks were watered down significantly! My group ordered 5-7 shots per person, and nobody was drunk. The downside of all of this is that the business is dishonest.
Really fun casual bar. Karaoke night had a dozen or so great but non pretentious singers. This particular night i sang one good song and another that would have been disastrous but the friendly crowd joined In and not only made the song better but rebooted my faith in the people of this great metropolis of opportunity and opportunists who can some times over shadow the good folk like those at Walters the night i happened to stop by.
Met my wife here through her sister who bartended 30 years ago! Just stopped by with our daughter prior to Roger Waters show at Madison Square Garden to show her where we met! Friendliest pub in NYC! Gina who worked there then and still does, ran out from behind the bar to meet my daughter for the first time recognizing her from pictures! Had a great time with Gina and a few of the regulars from back in the day!
This is my go to after work or pre-game/concert bar. Lowest prices in the neighborhood with a great selection of domestic, imported and craft beer and a fantastic craft cocktail menu. There's weekly trivia, thursday night karaoke and darts so there's pretty much always something to do out here. The staff is fantastic and they go above and beyond every night. Couldn't ask for a better spot in the neighborhood!
Friendly staff, good beer, decent price. Very close to Penn station/moynihan station. The prices are close to the bar inside moynihan station so it's probably not worth coming out for a drink. But I learned it by experience. Next time I'm at moynihan station, I will rather have some drinks at the bar at the station

The worn out blonde was dealing shady business the entire time I was there and she ignored me and pretended I was not even a customer. By the end of the night she’s barely coherent and always counting my change on the level of a two-year-old. I think that she drinks more of the liquor supply than the customers she was in the bathroom more often then she was not. Sick. Get better help
It’s been decades since I’ve been at a bar where all the patrons are dancing and singing with each other. People of all sizes, shapes, colors, ages. Literally everyone singing and dancing. And introducing themselves like I was the new kid in town (I was). Hey, Walter. Semper Fi. Nikki (sp?) is your secret weapon. I’m coming back every time I visit Manhattan!
Sept 20 2:36AM. Big white guy and bald . He was rude and we sharing opinions and he gets mad and cursing me out . And kick me out because I told him “we are customers why you talking disrespectful “ and tells me to leave right away . Don’t understand why he was rude. Wanted try out the bar .

By far the worst ive ever been treated at any business. My friends and i were spoken to with hostility from the moment we walked thru the door. We arrived quite late, at 3:20am, but reasonably before the 4am closing time. I hope that the bartender was simply having a bad day and doesnt always treat customers this poorly around closing time.
Went here while in NYC - Chris and Andrew are the best! Ended up finishing every night In this bar we were here because we loved the bartenders so much. Crazy girl who apparently is friends with the owner was hassling the patrons and bartenders which is too bad. Other than her the bar is an A+ in my books and I'll definitely come back!
Best bar in the whole damn city. I still miss that irish F&$% Francis. But with new change comes new experiences. Great everyday working blue colar types that range from comedian/actor/improve/magician/ to architect/policeman/traveler/raging NYS fans. Always a good time and the staff personable. Easy to talk to and quick on their feet.
Amazing staff and great nyc attitude want your ego stroked it wont happen here!!! want to get drunk and have a blast they have a special for that with 2 for $5 pbrs and a quick bartender can you spell danger.... Sorry too drunk for those big words dont forget Thursday karaoke which starts early and runs late for you workaholics
This has to be the worse customer service in Bar History!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry this is the worse customer service ever the male bartender needs to be fired ASAP. Who is the owner where is Mr Walter???! You need to fire your terrible male night bartender immediately!!!!

I just went here with my family. We were trying to get a drink and the bartender started throwing coasters at us. When we asked why, there was no response. The atmosphere was all white and we’re Latinos, I’ve b en to a lot of bars and this is the one bar I had to take my friends out of, so sad
Walter's Bar is obviously the BEST- especially when it's late and you are hoping to party amongst NYC's finest. Always open late- down to earth, consistent bartenders, karaoke, the occasional complimentary shot... Walter's is a dream- and you are #blessed if your dreams have been tHiS GooD.
First time at this bar, I'm not a bar guy, but I am a Karaoke guy and this was alot of fun! Everyone was very welcoming and supportive of each other! The bartender was very cool and a pretty good singer I am definitely going back... This girl T... AMAZING VOICE, BLEW ME AWAY …
Dipshit bouncer took my brothers real id because he thought it was fake and wouldn't give it back until police were called and his friends convinced them to give it back. If they can't bother hiring bouncers with a few brains cells then they won't get my business anymore.
Great late-nite hang...fun crowd, and a barman who has an opinion on everything, which makes for wonderful conversations...there are plenty places that will serve you the drink of your choice, like they do here, but this place stands out for other reasons...check it out!
Awesome little bar. Hole in the wall vibe, friendly bartender, great prices, good part of town, clean and cozy. Stayed here for hours and had an awesome time. Would definitely visit here often if I lived in the area. Jim was our bartender and he did an awesome job.
I have never been treated as I was in this bar. The bartender was super rude with us. He noticed that I was uncomfortable by the way he talked to me, and he started to bully me even more. I would never come back to this place, the service was very very poor.
Place was very clean, and easy to get to. Not to mention, Wayne was such a great bartender, and so great to talk to! If you’re leaving Penn Station, or waiting for your train this is the spot to have a drink or kill some time. I’ll def be back, thank you!
I love going to Walter's. It's a great little bar with that "home" feeling every time you walk in. The bartenders are super attentive (even for a Saturday night) and the drinks are alway affordable. This is my go to spot for a night out in midtown.
An amazing bar with excellent customer service and a family feel to it. One of the barman was originally from the UK which made us feel right at home. Reminiscent of an English pub. Excellent prices at only $8 for house whiskey with mixer.
Amazing bar! They have darts, $7 drinks. Cash only! Best value for money establishment in NYC! The music is also the right volume to hang around with friends. Not to soft and neither too loud. Had a great experience with the bartender duo.
Best place to hang out and chill in this area I witnessed some entitlement and bad attitude on a few customers. The bartender is easy going and respectful. I'm coming over anytime Im around

A really great bar. The beer is cheap, the bartender was lovely and the locals very friendly. Just a shame we didn't find it sooner in our stay. You will not get ripped off here and you certainly won't spend close to $8 for a beer!!
If you're from colder regions(think northern Europe) you'll like the non familiarity. Andrew is a force to be reckoned with behind the bar and while small talking. Otherwise: drinks are cheap, there's free darts, toilet is fine
It is mediocre, which means just ok. They are not very friendly and not ones who make you feel comfortable. Not that they make you feel uncomfortable, but not a place where you feel like everyone there is on the same page.
We live very close to Walter's and come in a lot. We always feel so welcome and at home. The bartenders are excellent and definitely the reason we keep coming back. Such a great staff. The drink deals are also amazing.
This place was packed when we visited! Felt like mostly a local crowd, enjoying a local game on television. It was loud. Service was friendly. Cool pub experience. Cold beer. Really enjoyed our visit!
Great little spot you’d walk by without looking closely. Beer was priced best we saw all week in Manhattan. Great friendly bartender, Andrew I think. Food spots close by to grab if you’re hungry.
Small bar so it can get crowded at times. Drinks are reasonable price. I don't believe they have food there. Also have a dart board toward the back which is free and fun to play with friends.
Amazing place!!!! Hands down the best bar I've been in around that area. Bartender was great, friendly and he served great drinks!!!!! Definitely my go to place when I'm in the area!!!!!
Good dive to pop in for a quick drink. Get 2 for 1 PBR's if your looking to save a little $$$. Nothing in particular stands out about this bar but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Came after working late one night. The bartender greeted and served me right away. Very welcoming and unassuming joint. A clean well-lighted place when you just need a simple drink.
Great bar in a good location, open fairly late and the service by the bartender was great! Recommend for a late night drink or even a couple beers before seeing a game at MSG.
Great neighborhood bar. Excellent bar tender. Did not have any food so I gave it 3 stars

Very friendly locals bar where tourists are also welcome. Good prices for drinks , excellent bar staff service and friendliness. We played darts and had a great night.
Gina is such a friendly and accomodating bartender. Made our trip to NY so special. Wonderful bar, very clean and fun!!! Locals are super nice too Love from Chicago.
Great neighborhood bar ! Makes you forget you're in the middle of Manhattan.... bar staff are super friendly and welcoming which is hard to come across these day .
The bartender was super nice for a smaller hole in the wall. If you want something small and a bit more "homely" this is the place to go. Highly recommended atm.
Fun spot for a drink before MSG. I'm an old lady but the music was soooo loud for such a small space. ( early in the day so no one was dancing or anything haha)
It's mid. Good place for a quick drink before catching the train. Not much room to sit.

Just walked in and got this Extremely rude bartender calling names to customers just for asking for drinks lol,,, surreal experience!!,,, stay away lol!!
Have been coming here for 2 yrs now. Love it. Games on TV, nice people, good prices, Please make sure you meet Andrew and Liara. They are the best....!!
I had a freaking blast. The Bartender was a rockstar. This is me and her in the photo. Definitely check it out. Great drinks and cheap prices. Hello!

Perfect little Irish pub with nice bartenders, darts and good drink specials. Fyi - no kitchen, so "bar snacks" means pretzels. UP KERRY!!!
I don't remember being here which must mean it was awesome! Seriously though, I may have been roofied... watch your drinks people jk …
Perfect bar to pull up a stool and have a draft. Irish / Notre Dame / Marines themed. Grab a pizza from a few doors down and stay a bit.
This little dive bar near Penn Station definitely gets a 4-star rating for being quiet and clean. Friendly staff and great PBR special!
great bar! great service! especially on saturday and monday nights. always a warm stool and friendly conversation with the bartenders.
Wow, I've traveled the world and I've never found a place like this! I left with more money and happiness than I've ever had.
Definition of "Dive Bar". Very relaxed, though they are very stern when it comes to getting trivia answers correct to the T!
Great dive bar. So close to MSG makes life easy. Place is loud and divey! Bartender (Lola) is really loud. Great dive bar.
A nice dive bar is the best way to describe it. I love this place, the bartenders are excellent. Karaoke night is a blast
Great dive to start the night or end the night! Great tunes, friendly staff, and good prices makes Walter's ago to bar
Walters is the best bar we have stumbled across! Such fun and kind staff, and so much fun. Good vibes at Walters!!
Great bar not to be missed, especially if you have Andrew as your bar man.

A little pricey, but I love this bar. You get everyone from construction workers, to FIT women. It's a madhouse
Love Walters! My favorite late night spot in the city. Great prices and great bartenders! Highly recommend!
Great little bar with cold cheap beer ( for the city) and good tunes. Brian the bartender is good dude!!
Walters is a go to for locals. Greats drink prices and the bartenders are friends. Definitely a favorite
Small place, attentive staff, stiff drinks, courtyard through the back with more seating/smokers' area.
The dirty martini is not recommended. Bartender could be a bid cooler. No food but food right near buy.
Ok bar. Nice atmosphere. You can find better prices for draught beer. PBR is two for 6$ on happy hour.
Good vibe. Bartender Francis is terrific. He left for awhile, heard he's back on Mondays. Hell yeah!!!
2 for $5 PBRs, how can you go wrong? Bartenders are great too. Great stop when waiting for a train.
I must have been drunk when I visited because I can't remember a damn thing about it. Must be good.
First time here and it's pretty cool. Bartender Andrew is very friendly and sweet. May come back.
Snuck in here a handful of times for an afternoon beer. Seems like the bartender is never around.
Pretty bartender who served us good.A very blue collar bar.Just bring the 2 for 5 PBR beers back
Always makes you feel welcome. A hometown bar in the city. Ownership and employees are the best.
Great music, fantastic people, and never too crowded. Favorite stop before or after MSG events!
No food menu on a Sunday but the bartender is munching on a burrito at the same time …
Not a bad place to grab a drink near MSG. Kind of small and crowded but bartender was friendly.
We held out after show party here. Loads of fun. Good people. Great vibe. Definitly come here!
Short metal arch connected to doorway. Must duck or bend knees, especially when exiting. Ouch.
Super friendly staff and very fair prices. Tater tots were simple but hit the spot perfectly.
Lively bar. Great music (Dio, Aerosmith etc). Friendly staff. Perfect hangout before MSG.
Great local bar. A perfect place to grab a well poured Guinness and play a game of darts.
Gina was working and made me feel so very welcome. I hope to go back soon. Great place!
Awesome place! Good music, not too loud and not too crowded, in a great location.
One of the best place in the city to hang and one of the best bartender ever jen
Andrew and Nikki are amazing! Best bartenders in all of NYC. Definitely a must!
The Cheers of Midtown,,,nice service,,, quality drinks and friendly atmosphere
Andrew is a great Bartender. Awesome place to play darts and have a few beers
Cozy but staff not very nice. They let you sit for as much as you want. Warm.
Your standard dive bar. Friendly bartender, good beer prices, can't complain!
