Was walking down the street and saw this place and decided to check it out. Since the closing of Blockbuster, these kind of places are far less common and accessible. With technology progressing and more time spent away from face to face interaction, places like these are really important. I've only been here once but I already began to see the scene of community a place like this offers. After taking a look at the shops wide variety of selection, I began chatting with the owner for a short while. Super nice guy. If you're ever in the area or are interested in going back to the Blockbuster days, check this place out.
I thought I added my review, however, it seems that it did not post. My apologies. Here is my review. We have been customers of Videoflicks since 1992. We rent movies on a regular basis because they have the best movie selection in the city, and the best, best, best foreign movies ever! The current movies are usually 2 day rental, and the older movies are 5 day rental. Worth the money and time you spend in the store. Staff is very knowledgeable and they usually do a thorough review of all the movies in the store. BTW, you get free popcorn! Yummy.
Lots of movies. Used and new DVDs and Blu-Rays for purchase and rent. Good selection of foreign movies and anime, including documentaries, TV series and TIFF offerings. You can even request specific titles they don't have in stock. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, ready to help you out. There really isn't any place like it in the city. Highly recommended if your looking for a deal.
As of Nov. 5 2019 They are Closed. One of the Last Video Store in Toronto gone. There always will be those that can not be Streamed or found online. Then they will know why a Video Store is needed for the Public. It is a sad day. Hey Bill it was good to meet with you. See you after things are settled with you. Take care. Jack K.
Absolutely fantastic. Even with on-line content, pay per view... and hundreds of TV channels. We come here regularly. Always something new that you cannot find on-line. Old titles and foreign films you find no where else. If it's movies you are after, look no further. Videoflicks on Avenue is it!
Great service, and the best selection anywhere in Toronto. If you want that video store experience (that was rarely as good as this place is), this is your BEST CHOICE, period. There isn't a streaming service that can match this store's selection. A tribute to better times.
Great place! They do listen to their customers and now they have 4K blu rays! Ok, just one, but if people like myself keep renting those, I'm sure the library will grow! (Ok a bit of wishful thinking but they are great and hopefully more 4k discs will come!) THANKS!!!
This place is better than On Demand or Netflix...because it is so much fun to browse their huge inventory, speak to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, grab some popcorn...and chill. They have pretty much everything...and if they don't have it...they'll get it.
This is by far my favourite video store in Toronto. Their selection is amazing and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. There's an upstairs where you can find new releases and a downstairs where all the older movies can be found.
This is among the friendliest neighborhood businesses I have every experienced. They are also serious dog lovers and fawn over customer's canines. I don't have a dog, but I was thinking of shopping there dressed as one. Just to see....
Videoflicks isn't just a movie rental store, it's a neighborhood institution. Our kids love going there to rent DVDs and the free popcorn! Much cheaper than on demand and a lot more selection.
Great store--lots of great films, both new and old as well as a fantastic documentary section. The staff are very knowledgeable, very helpful. Even with netflix, etc, this place is invaluable!
Videoflicks has great customer service and a good selection of items for rent and purchase. If you're looking for an old-fashioned movie night, this is the place to start your planning!
Excellent as before the ownership change. Time will tell if the curated lists and recommendations are as valuable. Many of the previous staff were enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
Talk about bucking the trend...video stores were supposed to go the way of the dodo...not video flicks. ..still around and there's got to be a reason...i just like the old way
Recently changed management, but don't worry: the popcorn is still there. Great movie selection, and the staff are super knowledgable and helpful.
Great choices and good rental fees. Have DVDs, Blu-rays, CD's, records and various platforms of video games not to mention collectibles.
Great store, friendly, knowledgeable staff, and best of all our four legged friends are always welcome.
Closed Oct 18, 2019. The building is for sale and there's a sheriff's notice on the door.
A great local video store. New releases, classics and they now sell vinyl records.
Great store with great people. Go and support your local video stores if you can!
Great selection of new releases and popular videos. Great to have them back.
Huge number of titles to choose from, great customer assistance.
Amazingly they are open for business again! Love it!
