This GP practice has taken a substantial decline In all areas. They no longer seem to care or have any value in its patience or practices. You can wait a lifetime for an appointment even for me with a acute health issue. When you call for medication or a blood test/scan results ; they either can’t find them or act completely confused as if you’ve called them for pizza. Today was my last straw! I ordered repeat medication ; Mid week last week. I waited A few days and then went In to collect it from the pharmacy . To my disbelieve they said they never received any request for my medication from the GP; so I called up the GP to ask them what has gone wrong and the male receptionist told me that they forgot to send it in as there platform wasn’t working , and I should come and pick up the prescription. One hour later I arrived at the practice to pick up the prescription that they should’ve sent off five days ago and to my dismay they couldn’t find it. What annoyed me the most is that they were looking underneath the kettle, under a box ,on top of the fridge & by the phones just for one prescription that correct me if I’m wrong ;should be in a safe place?! They wasted my petrol and my time and even laughed when I sarcastically commented that the prescription grew legs within the hour. I have now come back from there this morning for them to tell me the prescription I was looking everywhere for the day prior had not even been written up and that I should make the third trip yet again to come and pick it up later. Ridiculous! This is not the first time and will probably not be the last . Close this practice down please , they are drowning in here and can’t mange the Simplest of tasks. I’m simply over it. I would advise everyone change GP from now.
Absolutely horrible experience simply trying to register at this surgery. Staff incredibly rude, dismissive, unsympathetic, aggressive and ignorant. How on earth doctors can have people like this as the front line, public interface to their surgery is just mind-blowing. But as the surgery has a long history of horrific reviews they obviously must be fully aware of this but just do not care which makes them invariably completely responsible. I even tried calling multiple times in the hope of getting a better tempered receptionist but I had three in a row that behaved in the exact same manner. It's shocking and disturbing that the overriding feeling one gets from the surgeries that they just don't give a damn about you and that your very existence is a major inconvenience to them. Dozens of long-term patients have abandoned in this surgery and countless negative reviews express warnings on not bothering to register for the same reasons listed above. I really should have listened. The way they treat the very people they are paid to care for is an absolute insult to one's personal dignity. Even though I am in urgent need of my repeat prescriptions and medical treatment I simply refuse to take or accept it from people that thing to take delight in insulting and abusing me.
As another reviewer mentioned, there really should be an investigation into this GP practice, they are negligent, unfriendly, unhelpful, and clueless. If you value your health, find another GP. I also would give this zero stars if I could. The reception staff have zero training and seem constantly confused about their own jobs, how the their systems work, or how to proactively work to solve a problem (of their own cause). It's extremely frustrating. The nurses are rude, and don't listen. They don't seem to be able to read patients notes, it's like they're stuck on a repeating script instead of independent thought and actually helping with medical conditions. I've never even seen a GP because for some reason they're still sticking to covid rules and doing telephone calls which don't help at all. The GPs I've spoken to on the phone don't seem to be up to date with what's actually happening in medicine and, I really do think it needs to be investigated by some sort of ombudsman. If it was a school, it would be in special measures. These reviews aren't even read by the NHS so it probably won't make a difference but my only advice is to find somewhere else.
Receptionists are quite helpful however the main doctor whose surgery it is is the complete opposite. I have changed my doctor over for this purpose but as there are no appointments have had no choice but to take an appointment with him. First time waiting over 40mins and not one person went into the room. I was so sure he had forgotten about the appointment and made his way through the back door. This was my first appointment at the surgery. Fast forward to today. My 4year old had an appointment of which I was 3mins past the appointment time. I was sat in there for over 50 minutes. Watching people go in and out of the room whose appointment was after mine. The correct thing to do would be to say I am unable to fit you in today or to call me in for the remaining 7-12 mins of my appointment. Leaving me outside to wait with a child who is drowsy not knowing what the concern was (as I’m not a doctor myself) is beyond me. Absolutely ridiculous experience. Best option is to go to a pharmacist for an opinion at this rate. Appalling. More than 3 people had issues about being seen while I sat their so it’s safe to say it wasn’t just my personal experience.
I've been a patient here for 13 years and obviously GPs are under huge pressure with long waiting times for appointments. HOWEVER: I cannot compliment the staff enough, in particular Dr Pase. Dr Pase is probably the kindest, most thorough and competent GP I've ever encountered. She always takes me seriously and is really invested in figuring out issues instead of just brushing them off or being rushed. She takes her time and is so very compassionate - this has made a huge difference to my health and also my trust in GPs! And I cannot fault any other doctor I've seen at times; everyone has always been kind, professional and helpful. Importantly, my physical and mental health have always been treated equally seriously; something which I know is sadly not a given everywhere. Re reception staff: I have always found that if you treat (overworked and underpaid) staff with the kindness and politeness you expect from them, you won't have any issues. I've never been treated rudely or in an unhelpful way - very much the opposite. Thank you from my heart, Vesta Road team!
This surgery used be good. I have been registered 10+ years. I had a privately paid hearing test with clear results for a referral to a specialist. All of which have been sent to the surgery. 1 week for a telephone appointment just to be referred. You have to watch your phone for two hours for the call window. I popped out the room for a few minutes and missed the call. I called back and cannot get an appointment for two weeks. [UPDATE] 2 weeks later I had my appointment and the doctor said that he had not been sent the paperwork by the receptionist. So, that was a completely waste of time. The male receptionist was very unhelpful and had a really poor attitude. With little faith in this person, I booked another appointment (for the third time). All this, and I just need a referral. The female receptionist is very nice and friendly. The male receptionist is just terrible and their system needs improvement. RESULT I will be changing my GP. Do NOT register here.
It’s tough to be in the NHS, GP practices are struggling everywhere, but this place is constantly useless in a way that is beyond excusable. They told me on two occasions that I had been referred to a specialist service. But no letter was ever sent, which I only found out years later from a friend who had access to the referral system. You have a <50% chance of your prescriptions being properly dealt with, the same set of mistakes happening repeatedly and with no apparent attempt to change or improve their working practices. The staff aren’t bad people, although they can be patronising (one nurse told me I probably wasn’t depressed, just lacking a bit of vitamin D, based on no information at all). The phone lines every morning were jammed, no queuing system was in place, never any appointments. Several times I had to resort to 111 to deal with tonsillitis and other fairly-serious issues. I’ve moved surgery and I have to recommend staying away from Vesta Road.
I would give 0 starts if I could as this is seriously the worst GP practice ever. Do yourself a favour and choose another GP even if this is the closest one you have from home. Even the most basic medical help, like be visited in person when you are in pain, will turn into a long nightmare and they won't visit you in the end. My boyfriend had a sever back pain that made him unable to go to work and wanted to be visited in person, then have some CT scans or exams prescribed. The answer was "We can't visit you in person sorry, try to look for some back pain relief exercises on google.", I'm not kidding. If this is the level of the health system in the UK, this is really alarming and concerning. I'm going to chance my GP now, hopefully I'll be more lucky with the next one.
If you need very basic care in no less than 3 weeks this place might work for you. If you have anything slightly more complicated ie. chronic or long term issues avoid this place at all costs. I have only seen one of the Doctors. She spoke over me for most of our first appointment, acted punitively toward me when requesting a prescription refill, misread my test results and on an interpersonal level seemed rushed and uncaring. There is one receptionist who can be very helpful but some of the other staff are flat out rude. I was lectured about not checking my prescriptions properly when it was their mistake. I imagine being understaffed and underfunded accounts for some of these issues but still go somewhere else if you can.
Please don't register with this GP I have had such a bad experience with them. I have been with them two years and still not seen a doctor. I was given an appointment at Lewisham hospital for an asthma review after two asthma attacks when I got to Lewisham I was told Lewisham hospital don't do asthma reviews and they had contacted the surgery to cancel it ( but obviously no one told me ) I even sat with a doctor at Lewisham when she called my surgery to sort out a real appointment and heard them lie over speaker phone. I did finally get an asthma review but it wasn't like one I had ever done before didn't even check my peak flow ....... If I die from an asthma attacks you can use this as evidence.
They don't answer calls, literally never. When you go there, the receptionist is never at the desk so you wait for a long time for them to let you in. Phone apps arranged very badly, I was called at 1 pm when I should have been called before 11 am (therefore, was busy). I have ongoing health issues and need regular blood tests and the doctor told me they cannot do blood tests because of Corona. (My previous health centre contacted me to book blood tests but because I moved to this new area and had to change my GP I couldn't book it with them) So, not being able to book blood tests because of Corona is not quite true? I have so many medical problem problems but they are not being helpful at all!
The worst GP practice ever! My son, who is 3,5 years old, hasn’t been able to see the GP for the last 3 years! Absolutely disgrace. You can’t get hold of anyone for hours and once you do, they tell you that you should go to A&E because they can’t see you in person. So the GP in the hospital can, but the one you’re registered to can’t. Not sure why they even get paid. Every patient get the right to be seen by their GP, that’s why they get paid by people’s taxes. I can’t describe the disappointment and frustration I’ve experienced as a parent! For 3 years your GP can’t make the time to see your child. Not to mention the telephone consultation I’ve been promised and that never happened!
26/09/23 Reception staff more courteous, helpful and friendly especially the male receptionist also the nurses (forgot her name). I have changed Dr and now only sees Dr Pase she's a gentle soul, she listens, asks questions, patient, pleasant, gives guidance and reassurance. Overall a much better service, happy with my GP surgery. Please keep up the great work you're all doing. Reception staff rude, after holding for over an hour receptionist answered as if she's being disturbed...Doctor dismissive always in a hurry. No patient care. Planning on leaving the surgery. Waiting on HRT medication since 20th January still waiting. Disgracefu
If you have no intention of getting sick, old, having kids, or needing any regular medication then this is the surgery for you. Otherwise avoid at all costs. Yes the health system is overwhelmed, but we just left this surgery and can’t believe the difference elsewhere. It doesn’t have to be this bad. The reception staff are unnecessarily rude and seem to be operating in an in-house system that’s not fit for purpose. The care from one doctor was always lovely, the other GP I saw during a cancer scare was really unhelpful and added to my worry. Any complaint made against them is taken personally, and feedback falls on deaf ears.
The receptionist here is amazing and tries to go above and beyond. Unfortunately the rest of the system is absolutely awful. Getting an in person appointment is near impossible. Getting through on the phone has happened to me once - I tried for a year with them but I am leaving. I've been left in pain for too long. So thoroughly disappointed and it's shaken my confidence in asking for help when I need it. I'm so gutted because I know this is a result of our governmental under resourcing and under funding the NHS, but feel the need to warn others in pain.
Dr Pase and team have looked after me and my family for the last 4.5years and we have been really happy with the service and care we have received. Dr Pase is very kind, compassionate, thorough and professional. The practice nurse is kind too and great with our young kids. The receptionists are always helpful and try to resolve your query. The whole practice is clearly under pressure since the pandemic - like every GP surgery is - but I/my kids have always managed to get an appointment when we needed them. Thank you
I have just left this practice and registered with another GP as the doctors and nurse practitioner at this practice have consistently been uncaring and unpleasant. Bordering on malpractice. The last straw was recently having had surgery and constantly trying to get an emergency appointment for the last 4 days showing up to walk ins that were full, calling at 8am and being told there are no appointments and I should go to Lewisham Hospital. Level of care here is unacceptable in my opinion. This is how people die.
If you are lucky enough to get through to anyone at Vesta Rd, you are typically met by the blunt and dismissive reception staff. They will make you feel like you’ve dialled the wrong number, and are grinding to deal with. If you are lucky to get to that stage, the doctors are usually great and I typically would wonder if they knew the gauntlet patients had been on to get an appointment. Finally lost patience after 2 years of this, and have moved to a practice further away.
i’ve been with this gp surgery since birth, however i’m leaving due to the quality of care plummeting severely. none of the issues i have gone to them with over the last 5 years has made any progress. dr pase is dismissive, dr abokash is impatient and hostile. they put you on medication without properly assessing you. the nurse i saw for checkups was my only hope there, but getting an appointment or even having someone answer the phone is near to impossible.
There should be a formal review of this practice. It is a disgrace if they're receiving NHS (taxpayer) money for a complete lack of service. Receptionists will put you on hold to order their lunch (she forgot to put me on mute) - the doctor will be too lazy to submit forms to 'real' NHS doctors so you can be taken care of. Lazy and incompetent don't quite cut it. If you haven't joined - don't. If you have - leave before you are in need of medical help.
The receptionists are rude and arrogant. After being on hold for 50 mins she picked up like I was causing her inconvenience. When I said she could improve her level of service she said I dont even make sense. If its hard to comprehend and show some empathy you shouldnt be working as a medical receptionist. Seriously don’t know how some people are in these jobs. I dread having to call them.
I used to be fairly happy with the service. But recently the staff who answer the phone are rude and make me feel like I am begging for the service. The NHS is universal but not free. Thousands of pounds get deducted from my salary every year to pay for it. I am considering to move to another surgery. Any recommendations?
Been trying to get either a doctors appointment or a phone call back since 20th Feb (today being 16/03) was promised a call before 1pm today and guess what no phone call. People could die with negligence like this. Do I really have to go and sit up a&e for a mild chest infection where all I need is antibiotics?
I recently signed up to join Vesta and was expecting bad experience as some reviews suggested but so far so good! I didn’t find it difficult to book appointment at all (only booked by coming in person) and GPs seem nice and professional. So wanted to leave this review to make image of this surgery fairer
Had my first appointment at this practice today (by telephone due to Covid 19). The GP I had was brilliant! I forget his name, but he listened and was very reassuring. It's so refreshing to feel listened to and understood by your GP - so I am very happy with everything.
Very helpful receptionists, nice nurses. Haven't met a doctor yet but at least you can get through on the phone and get an appointment within the next few weeks which was impossible at my old GP's! They're all under time pressure but they do their best I think.
Impossible to get hold of them on the phone, impossible to get an appointment, waiting for 2 weeks to issue a prescription (which was already prescribed) while being in severe pain. They don't care about patients. Avoid.
I really wish that I could give this surgery a Zero Very Rude Drs here they give appointments and not call patients back if you are in need of urgent medical care or any medical care Avoid at all costs!!
Wait for a telephone appointment is 2 weeks. Then another 2 to see dr. Nurse, Jacqueline is so rude and unhelpful. Can tell she doesn’t want to be there. On the plus reception staff and friendly
Dr Pase really listen to what you are saying and wants to get to the bottom of the issue, providing alternatives and discussing them with you. Thanks for your caring manner
