One of the newest and nicest public adventure parks in Melbourne's East. The toilets and drinking fountains are clean and perfectly maintained (although bringing your own soap is a good idea in case they run out on a popular day). Facilities for parents are very comfortable, and there's plenty of shaded seating for breast feeding out of the hot sun. Picnic spots are comfy. There are hectares of beautiful walking paths, and the local friends of the park group do a fabulous job keeping the area clean and local vegetation healthy. The playground itself has a great variety of challenge levels for kids from toddler to teen, and is well designed and a lot of fun. Also a handful of Pokemon Go and Ingress stops for those who play.

This reserve is a classic example of the foresight and planning of the MMBW, (Melbourne & Metropolitan Board of Works) now Melbourne Water. The setting aside and eventual management of Valley Reserve by Melbourne Water gives the Eastern Suburbs one of several easily accessible and vitally important natural habitat areas for a wide range of fauna. Its main water way, Scotchman's Creek is home to a couple of very rare aquatic animals, and its numerous species of flora and trees is a fairly healthy set of "lungs" contributing to high air quality for nearby areas.

Green oasis in built up suburbia. Dogs on leash allowed but NOT in re-vegetation fenced off area. Awesome adventure playground for all ages & educational Amphitheatre. This is also used by the Scouts. Bbq covered area with ample seating, tables, toilets & car parking. Great walking bush trails with bridges over creek & detailed info boards on native flora & fauna. Part of it runs along Scotchman's Creek trail. Can easily walk 2 kms if you do the perimeter & inner trails. Check the trail map boards - take a pic & find your way around.

Wow, what a great place. Two very different themes, a fantastic playground, with BBQ facilities, a large car park and the other being a walk in the bush. It takes about 15 minutes to walk around the valley loop as it's called. All this right in the heart of Mount Waverley. Well worth a walk and or a play on the playground equipment. Plus near the Carpark is the Scarred Tree, the bark was removed by members of the Kulin People. Bark was used in traditional Aboriginal society to make canoes and shelters.

We went to the park yesterday for a BBQ with friends, it was quite busy. A few electric BBQ's , some picnic tables and a couple of shelter huts and a few bins and running water.Plenty of parking Looks like there is many walking paths in amongst the native scrub, a nice hidden reserve in suburbia. What I liked about the picnic area was the large open field for the kids to kick a ball in and run around Looking forward to heading back and exploring the tracks around the park

Great place for kids with an awesome playground, although it's probably better suited for older kids 6+ years of age. The walking tracks are also quite interesting, not too long, but still good considering the suburban location of the park itself. I would certainly recommend a visit to the park, as we had a good time and even saw lots of native birds. The one negative was that the boys toilets were closed.

I had a really lovely time exploring the urban bushland while on the trail of several geocaches. Didn't know there was such a great playground here as well as such a well maintained equipped toilet. There was ample parking as well. We owe much also to Alf Salkin for his pioneering work in conservation as well as the others who followed in his footsteps such that we have this to enjoy today.

I hadn't visited in a few years and wow how it's changed. It was always a lovely secluded reserve with lots of open spaces, but now they have transformed the main area near the BBQ rotunda into a beautiful playground/art installation. Lots of room for kids to play and explore with native bird sculptures, as well as the usual walking tracks and a modest amount of parking

Wonderful parkland. There are nice trails through the trees, very good for birdwatching and very quiet despite being so close to main roads. Then there is the playground. It is one of the best I've ever played on! It has a large tyre swing, a flying fox, a rope course and beautiful bird sculptures at the edge of the playground. Such a great place just to walk around in.

Probably the best playground in the area. Lots of activities for little kids and for 10+ kids.

A nice, well maintained local park nestled in a urban bush setting, with plenty of play equipment, although mainly suited for older children 4 and above. There are a few things there for toddlers, but the flying fox and rope climbing things are for older kids. There are also clean and maintained public toilets on site, as well as BBQ and covered seating areas.

This is a great little suburban park and probably one of the best in Melbourne. There are places close to the centre of the park where you can stand and never know that you were in the suburbs. Both the local authorities and park volunteers deserve a lot of praise for creating this beautiful bush setting in a very odd shaped section of land.

Green space in the middle of suburbia. Smallish reserve but lots to explore and a link in Scotchmans creek. Some excellent facilities here for all ages. Including a well built play space, picnic areas and BBQs. The restored native vegetation is a testament to those involved in working on it. Lots of flora and fauna to discover.

It's a pretty special place. The more you learn about it the more amazing it gets. It's one of the few original bits of nature that shows what mount Waverley was like before development. There are a few very rare trees here and a wide variety of native trees and plants. It also looks like it is the start of s Scotchmans creek.

Great natural place space for kids, lots of ropes, things to climb, platforms, slides, a flying fox and a sand pit. Set in bushy surroundings, you'd hardly know you're in the suburbs. It's got great BBQ facilities, lots of tables and also toilets and plenty of parking. I'd highly recommend it for a family visit.

Magical park. The kids love it. Nature in the middle of the city. The playground is for older kids though. I'm here on Sunday and there is a children's party on. Seems like a great place to celebrate. The place is packed but you can still find a secluded place to relax. Heaps of seating. Plenty safe.

Great place, lovely scenery and plenty of space. It looks like students come here to practice for athletic/ running events. It would be nice for the teachers to please leave a little space on the pathway for walker bys as that's what my P.E teachers would do when we would practice in a public space.

The perfect place! Be it family picnic, birthday party or a leisure walk... Can't think of any place other than Valley Reserve. If your kids live adventure and you love nature, this place offers everything you need. Its a place I always visit once a fortnight with my family! Go and get energized!!!

Really great playground. Natural looking with Lots of wood and less plastic. Better for older kids as there’s lots of climbing. Really like the educational parts of the park like displays and pictures of the animals. The walks are nice too, would be great if there was more wildlife around.

Fantastic playground with zones for different ages. The equipment includes two flying foxes, a ropes course, a slide and swings. There are three shelters with picnic tables and a BBQ area. Clean toilet facilities are nearby. There is a walking trail through beautiful bush surrounds.

A really nice adventure playground for 5yo onwards (in my opinion): it's quite a challenging one. From there you can go for a walk or a ride. Flying fox, swings, rope nets and wooden poles to climb, and rope bridges to cross. BBQ, shelter, table and benches, and toilet available.

Great facilities for young kids to explore: Ropes, slides and swings for all ages. It also has BBQ spots and tables under the shade. It is also connected to cycling tracks. Not very wide however it could be busy at times. Warmly recommended

Such a great park for the little ones to play. The playground itself is mainly wood & ropes. The range of activities such as the nature trail and flying fox are enjoyable for a broad range of ages. Good undercover seating for picnics/

Great playground area. Probably best suited for over 5s. Lots of big stuff to climb on, flying fox is great. Small sand pit area in shade. Full sun grassed area near bbq area and seats. Lots of fun for climbing, adventurous kids.

It feels like it's build in the middle of the bush. The playground has a great rough natural feel about it. I highly recommend this for young kids of all ages. And the parents can use the ample, shaded, quality BBQ facilities.

This is a great playground with lots of rope climbing structures of varying complexity. Some shaded table areas but not many. There's a water section which is often overlooked but no actual water play, like a water pump.

Accidentally discovered this place. Its an amazing park for kids with zip lines and plenty of activities for kids. Highly recommended for families with young ones and there are nice walking paths too

Beautiful space for the kids. Easy to get to. Signage around the park is great. The toilets are clean, nice and close to the playground. Definitely going back with my kids again.

Very nice parklandwith an excellent play area and modern equipment. However, if you want to use the bbq on a saturday or Sunday morning you will need to get their extra early!

Lovely bushland in middle of suburbia. Everything is clean and well maintained. The displays up to date and plenty of signposts which look good. Safe to walk around too.

I've actually retired from giving reviews however I thought id make an exception. This place is beautiful. If you can handle all the tourists...pristine walking tracks.

We go here for BBQs. Plenty of hotplates, tables and a sheltered area. Large playground, good walking tracks. They have really improved this reserve over the years.

Love this little piece of peace in suburbia. Also has an excellent playground for kids but limited play options for toddlers. Toilet facilities and lots of parking.

A lovely walk in nature, dogs are allowed on most tracks but on leash only. Bins are provided but haven't found any dog doo bag dispensers yet.

Lovely small pocket of remnant native bushland with excellent facilities for visitors, including some really great nature play installations.

A great nature heat away in the suburbs, mosquitoes are plentiful here so bring the repellent. Toilets and playground are both well serviced.
