Micheal’s response (Co owner of kittens Savage & Vicious) - This is going to be that one negative review, but it has to be for a reason. We took our two kittens in to have them neutered, two 7 month old brothers. We had decided this would be the best place to do the surgery over one of the low cost spay/neuter clinics, because we felt that they would be more loving and caring toward our babies, given the exorbitant amount they charge. The pre-surgery blood work was all within range, one cat was 2 pounds lighter after having been 1 pound heavier than the other at our last visit, and we even mentioned that he had been throwing up his food several times a week. They proceeded with the surgeries anyway. A few hours later the vet called us to inform us that one cat was doing fine in recovery, but the other had gone into cardiac arrest after the surgery as they were going to clip his nails. We have never met Dr. Sunny Ruth, she sends her techs out to retrieve the pets from the car and then has one of them return them to the car. Dr Ruth never shows her face and seems to be hiding behind the COVID-19 pandemic. I was hoping she would have stepped up and brought the surviving cat out to the car, and shown some compassion and grief for someone who’s pet she just lost on the table. They asked us if we wanted them to take care of cremation, which is something I’m sure they would have ultimately made us pay for. We had already decided that we would take him and bury him on my parents property, so we informed them of our decision. We gave Dr Ruth one last chance to be a responsible vet when we returned to pick up Vicious (deceased) but again no sign of Dr. Sunny Ruth, it was just one of her techs doing his routine of delivering another pet back to its owner, only this time it was lifeless wrapped loosely in a towel in an unsealed oversized Amazon Prime shipping box. My apologies to anyone who has taken their pet to Victory Bark to have them put down, but if this is the way they bring out any deceased pet, it is a shame. My parents lost their dog while driving to an emergency vet a few years back and their vet told them to go ahead and bring him in, they would wrap him up and put him in a nice box so all they would have to do is take him back home and bury him, and didn’t even charge them. That is a true veterinarian. This woman has no place in the business of caring for your pet with such a lack of empathy and compassion or the sense of a decent human being.

I have been taking my dog to Victory Bark for a little over a year now, so I did get to meet the staff in person before COVID hit. The vet and her husband seemed friendly enough. They both answered any questions I had about my newly adopted dog and steps to take to ensure he was healthy. They are a little on the pricey side for a vet in Texas, but completely within range for the direct area. When I adopted this dog from the shelter they had made a guess at his breed, a Pitbull mix. After DNA results came back, it showed he was more Lab mix than anything else. When I called to get his records changed the receptionist, Sonia, was very rude to me saying she could not help. Eventually she told me if the City of Dallas changed their records to reflect his DNA results, the vet's office would do the same. Thinking this was nearly impossible I reached out to my contact and she immediately changed his records, including his rabies tag he received at the shelter. I called the office back asking if they had received the new records, she stated they hadn't... until I mentioned that I was also on the email and could see it was sent to them. Sonia suddenly found the email and said she would speak to the vet before changing his records to reflect the requested record change from the city. The records are still not updated despite giving them everything they have asked for. In addition, since Covid my dog has become terrified of the Vet. He had no issues prior to dropping him off with Victory Bark unattended and does great when I drop him off at other places which has me a bit concerned about how he is handled when the owner (Me) isn't present in their clinic. As a rescue foster, I take multiple dogs to a different vet who has a similar car pick up procedure and not one has come back as terrified as my dog with victory bark.

  • Ronnie Bruno

Ronnie’s response (Co Owner of kittens Savage and Vicious) I would think that a professional would come out to show respect of some kind to the people that just lost their kitten. We decided to do the extra bloodwork and use an expensive vet hoping for the safest environment. I understand that their is a slight risk anytime a pet is put under but it’s the way we were basically pushed aside as not not even important enough to be shown a little compassion from the vet herself. It is her business and I understand it may be hard to face someone that lost their pet under your watch but if you can’t do that then maybe you are in the wrong business. A message of any kind would have been nice. I felt bad when Dr Ruth delivered the news over the phone , first giving me the great news that one kitten was doing great and ready to pick up...but the other one uh.... A professional would have went straight to “I’m so sorry but one of your kittens didn’t make it.” You can’t sugar coat a tragedy. Had Dr Ruth shown one bit of compassion the day we picked up our surviving kitten or even when we picked up the deceased kitten we would have never written anything here. A caring vet does not act in this way, period. Show your face, and if it’s COVID you are worried about then you have no compassion for your employees either bc you send them all out to pick up from cars. Just very disappointing all around except for the guy she sent out both times did the best he could in her place. You could tell he felt bad and knew it should be Dr Ruth coming out to meet us. I absolutely hate writing this review but dropping the ball this many times is unacceptable. In fact , when someone acts this way it makes them look guilty of something. Just sayin.

Dr.Ruth is an exceptional veterinarian, and words can’t describe the respect and gratitude I have for her. Since September, my goldendoodle had a severe reoccurring ear infection, that no vet could seem to get rid of. Before seeing Dr.Ruth, I was told by another clinic that my dog would need to be seen by a demonologist, which i could not afford to do at the time ($165 visit + $300 medication). After seeing 4 different doctors, attending 9 visits, and spending a total of $1300, we finally decided to try someone new - that happened to be in our neighborhood. I searched the nearest vet’s office and quickly made an appointment with Dr. Ruth at Victory Bark. After explaining my situation, she was so compassionate and understanding. This woman TRULY cares about her patients and their owners. She gave my pup a thorough exam and prescribed him a $45, 2 week treatment of Amikacin. We came in for a follow up visit, and it LITERALLY brought tears to my eyes for Dr. Ruth to tell me we had finally gotten rid of this horrible infection. ALL FOR $110!!! (They also have a wonderful receptionist and give complimentary mimosas. You seriously can’t beat that!) It broke my heart that my sweet boy was in so much pain and discomfort, but he is finally back to his playful, carefree self. I am so relieved and thankful we found this clinic will continue to be patients as long as we’re in DFW! ♥️

I met Dr. Sunny Ruth and her veterinary assistant, Jimmy Hayley, (who also happens to be her husband) approximately five years ago after three different vets misdiagnosed one of my boys, Cooper, as having an insect bite. Instead, Dr. Ruth determined that Cooper had a tooth abscess that needed immediate attention. My other three boys had also been misdiagnosed through the years in a variety of different situations. Dr. Ruth is a small animal veterinarian who also specializes in small animal dentistry. Once I met her, there was no one in my mind that could stand up to her level of quality and service. Her level of commitment, compassion, follow-through and ability to thoroughly and accurately assess a situation is second to none. No matter how busy she is, she ALWAYS makes time for my family and acts as if we are her only patients. She has worried with me, cried with me and laughed with me through the years. In other words, she genuinely cares. The bottom line is that Dr. Sunny Ruth and Jimmy Hayley are unique gems in an overcrowded field. They are exceptional in every way! My boys will be her patients for as long as she'll have us.

I didn't get to meet Dr Ruth, I only read the reviews and went by what I read on the new and updated reviews. I did meet her assistant who came out to the car and got my puppy. He was friendly and professional. My dog was okay going with him for the examination and shots. Which was surprising to me, because she does not take to people at times very well. I was explained their procedure over the phone for dropping off and picking up. I was disappointed of not being able to meet the doctor myself in person after the examination. However I did speak with her over the phone once they brought my puppy back to me. Her assistant return my puppy and she seemed to be stress-free which was really good because she does have anxiety at times. Jimmy was very friendly, professional and very helpful. My kudos go to Jimmy because he really was good with my dog and I really appreciated that.

  • Alejandro Vásquez

Went for my first puppy check up. I told them it was only for a check up when I booked the appointment, when I confirmed the appointment and finally when they took my dog in for the check up. I then receive a call while waiting that everything is fine with him and that he had been administered multiple vaccines. I told them he had already received them last week and they assured me that he was going to be fine “he is a big puppy he can tolerate them”. They would not hand me back my dog until I paid for the medicine I did not request totaling over double the cost of only the check up. My dog had received these vaccines before and showed no symptoms, after the ones they administered he did show symptoms and we had to go to another veterinary to confirm he was going to be okay.

I am moving out of the country with my pup and Victory Bark has helped me through all of the questions, concerns and curses I have been dealing with surrounding this arduous process. This vet clinic is the most professional, responsive vet clinic I've ever dealt with in my 10+ years of dog ownership. Everyone I have parlayed with here is really nice (as dog people should be) and caring and it really shows through the work they do. Pork Chop even got the muzzle of shame the last time we came because he is not very socialized (he's a COVID puppy) and they did not even blink; they actually made me feel better about it lol. Thanks y'all!!!

  • Carmen Burroughs

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience here. After my cat was attacked and her jaw was broken, VBVC stepped up and made the process as great as a situation like this can get. Dr. Ruth presented different options on how we could approach my cats injury and kept me updated and well informed throughout the day. My cat had to have part of her lower jaw removed, but isn’t even phased by it and started comfortably eating the next day. The surgery was done beautifully, you can barely even tell it happened, and the price was WAY better than I anticipated. I will always recommend Dr. Ruth to my friends in Dallas!

  • Melissa Coons

God bless this place and these people! My dog had been acting weird the past two days and was progressively getting worse, so I called them frantically after work, which was only about 20 minutes before they closed, asking if they could see him. They told me to come right over and proceeded to check him and treat him, staying almost 30 minutes after they closed just to give him an injection he needed. Sunny Ruth, the doctor is a complete saint! She was extremely helpful and genuinely cared. I wish I could give this place more stars. Thanks again, Victory Bark, for everything!

  • LEE RHINEBARGER

This veterinarian is absolutely amazing. Today we took our Blue Lacy to her office for what we believed to be a dead tooth. She took the time to explain what needed to be done but also took the time to answer any question I had. Her staff, and Dr. Ruth made sure we were comfortable with the procedure before we left. The last thing Dr. Ruth said to us was “I will treat her like my own.” When I picked up my dog, she actually treated her as if she was hers. You want to feel great customer service, use Dr. Ruth and her staff. Amazing!

  • Sariel Bays

Called yesterday to set up an appointment for my cat, they had affordable prices for my needs. They were friendly and understanding over the phone, even when I said I had a budget. Showed up today, my cat and I were treated with nothing but sincerity and respect, even when the worst news I could have imagined was delivered. They let me cry, they answered my questions and were helpful in all the ways that could be, and I'll always be grateful for that. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.

  • Paul Parmenter

I can’t recommend Dr Sunny and the team at Victory Bark enough. I have been taking my dogs there for 3 years and I feel that we have gotten excellent care the whole time. Recently one of my dogs had a fairly severe injury. The staff was very responsive via email and phone consults and quickly prescribed meds that helped my dog become more comfortable and helped him overcome the injury. Even though they are a busy practice I know that Dr Sunny will be there for my pups and I when we need her!

  • Donna Karnes

I am so impressed by Dr Ruth and the whole entire staff. They have taken care of my dogs with the utmost professionalism and love. They are always available to answer any questions and do not overtreat or undertreat and conscious of cost to the owners. I’m so grateful. One of my dogs was injured out of state and they took the time to review all the x-rays and help me make sure I was making the right decision and even finsihed the treatment after we returned. Life savers !!

  • Megan Hayes

Wow! The service and compassion that everyone shows in this clinic is commendable. I brought my little Kansas in for an upset stomach and they quickly got her in for an appointment. Dr Ruth and her associates were kind and thorough. Being from Kansas City and needing to find a clinic last minute was stressful but they did an excellent job making us feel right at home. Kansas got excellent care and is feeling much better! Thank you!

  • brian hensley

Understanding Covid is still an issue I do understand that My problem was waiting on my dog. You have to be parked out into the parking lot in my case in full sun wasting gas seems to me that they could deal with Covid a little bit differently. I tried to park in the shade next to their building out of the way of everybody. They demanded that I pull into a parking spot at that point I chose to leave and find another vet.

  • Ali McIntosh

Everyone who comes in contact with my dog at our visits genuinely cares and it shows! After bringing him in to have something minor looked at for peace of mind I got a call from the office today just to check on Henry to see if he was feeling better today or if I had any follow up questions. I should mention I didn’t even have an appointment and they fit him in just because I was worried that he was in pain.

  • Amanda Garza

They are about money and appointments. They were referred by another veterinarian who said they could handle the situation of my dog. But they told me I needed to wait three or four weeks to see someone and until then my dog would not be able to eat or could possibly get an infection and die. Way to look after the animals and show that you care. He needed immediate care, not 3 or 4 weeks.

  • Derek Wilson

Dr. Ruth has been caring for my pets for nearly 10 years. In that time, she has provided excellent care to my pets and has been happy to answer questions and address any of my concerns. Several years ago, one of my dogs developed a sudden life threatening illness and Dr. Ruth was able to save him and comfort my wife during that time. I would recommend Dr. Ruth to anyone.

  • T L

They did a fantastic job with my little cat dude. They were recommended by my vet because my guy is diabetic. Victory was very accommodating and were happy to give a range quote depending on what was needed. Originally the vet had thought he would need teeth pulled but turns out just a deep cleaning. So overall all a great experience!

  • Margaret Hinshelwood

They were recommended to me after my vet said my cat needed a number of teeth pulled. They set up a consult, followed by dental surgery if needed. Of course it was needed, but it was nice to have the appointments set up beforehand to spare my cat 2 separate trips and the additional pain. I definitely recommend Dr. Ruth and her staff!

  • Brianna McElveen

I like bringing my dog her. The people that work here addres nice. I had to begin my dog while the Covid-19 was prevalent. Victory Bark had a great action plan. They called to let me know they would take my dog from my car and someone would come out to take her in for hart appointment. Everything went smoothly. This is a great place.

  • Sarah Carmona

First time wellness exam with a kitten I found to home. Jimmy scheduled my appointment and Dr. Ruth was incredible!! She answered all my questions and made me feel at ease knowing my tiny pet was in good hands. They were transparent about everything they did along with cost, super glad my kitten has a reliable vet around the corner.

  • Chelsea Carter

Dr Ruth, Jimmy and really the whole staff are wonderful. We’ve been taking our dogs there for 3 years now and recently had to say goodbye to our 13 yr old buddy and they were absolutely amazing and so caring through the whole process. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for a vet you can trust and one who will love your pet.

  • Joy Hampton

I was referred to Victory Bark by my primary vet for a difficult tooth extraction. I was really worried about my cat getting oral surgery and being under anesthesia, and the pain she would experience when she woke up. They took wonderful care of my kitty. It's hours later, and you'd never know that she had any procedure.

  • Phi Nguyen

My primary vet recommended Victory Bark to be after my Chihuahua, Bailey, was attacked and had to get surgery for a broken jaw. The healing process took about two months and throughout those two months, Dr Ruth and the staff took great care of Bailey. I am so grateful for Dr Ruth and would recommend her to anyone!

  • Shawn Ludgate

Absolutely love Dr. Ruth, Jimmy and the rest of the staff. It would be an understatement to say my dog doesn’t enjoy going to the vet, but every time they are so unbelievably patient and kind with her. Prices are always reasonable and Dr. Ruth will never give your pet medicine or treatment he/she doesn’t need!

  • Goose Breeder

Great service & friendly staff. They do show that they care for your little one. I’m a first time dog owner so I’ve called them several times outside of the regular visits just to ask questions and they’ve always gotten back to me with helpful information. They’re also great with my dog when I bring her in.

  • Nancy Tien

Took my pup when she had an urinary tract infection. They were super nice, helpful and genuine. Then, I called again when my pup was having stomach issues, and again received excellent advice and service. It’s been super easy to use their marketplace to buy meds. I’ll definitely keep taking my pup!

  • Pamella Joiner

They seem to be very nice but I decided to take my dog to a different vet because I was not allowed to go in with my little boy. He has overcome a very traumatic past before we rescued him, I want to meet the doc and staff. I was just not comfortable sending him in alone.

  • Jerrie Klenk
