I am not happy about this clinic. I made an appointment for an ultrasound in specific and the day I had the appointment they told me that they don't even do ultrasounds AFTER they did a health check from 100 dollar. So I basically came there for nothing and they didn't inform me about it on the phone. Than they told me I had to do the health check anyway and sended me to VCA Calgary North to just do the ultrasound. I called them and asked about it and they charge 550 dollar for just an ultrasound and you can't even be there while your dog get her ultrasound. I asked them if they could get a video of it or anything and they told me they couldn't and that it would take an hour before I could pick her up. An hour SERIOUSLY?! I asked if that is always the case because it seems weird that you drop of your dog for an easy scan like that and can't even watch it. She said that it was always this way in every clinic. So of course I called an other clinic who charge 250 dollar for an ultrasound and than you can actually be there and see it. I wonder why they told me that I could come for an ultrasound and make an appointment if they don't even have the sources to do it. I also wonder how an ultrasound can be twice as much as an other vet clinic...

Do your research and shop around. This place upsells unnecessary tests and then hit you up for the pet food in the lobby. Also VCA pricing is roughly 30 - 35% higher than other clinics. I went in to get the next round of the DHPP vaccine for my new healthy puppy, the vet did a full wellness exam and suggested a $70 fecal exam which was obsoletely an unnecessary test since I mentioned its stool was normal. Anyways, then the vet asked me what food I was feeding my puppy, well, it wasn't the "Hill's Scientific diet" that was all over the clinic. The vet proceeded by making the comment:" I do not recommend xxx, you should switch to Hill's Scientific Diet, it has all the research to provide a balanced diet for your dog to grow" Tell me, what commercially available dog food on the market are not approved by AAFCO? It wouldn't be allowed on the shelf. My dog likes his food, no issues why are you suggesting me to switch? 3 weeks later, I called to book the final round of puppy shots since the visit I mentioned above, they insisted to charge me another $100 again for the checkup exam. I decided to seek a clinic that is not run by a car dealership sales mentality and business model.

They do not sponsor pet dental health month (FEB) charged us $123.00 This place wanted $1500.00 dollars to extract one tooth from our ten year old cat. I could not believe it. and if others had to be removed (possibly a molar they said) $2300.00. Wow. They wanted $230.00 for blood work alone. Every other vet I called said $110.00 to $130.00 . Long story short , and I have the estimate from royal oak to prove this, today we took our cat to Carstairs and had blood work 6 teeth extracted the remainder scaled cleaned and polished. pain meds claws clipped and two cans of food for under $1000.00 . Just to be fair another vet in Calgary had quoted us between $1200 and $1500 depending on the number of extractions required. Royal Oak has nice people but are rip offs. When I asked why so expensive they said it was because of the "Association that owns them" I asked if they were interested in matching the quote of $1200. They said NO . Last time my loved pets darken their door . Take your loved pets to Carstairs . They are true professionals looking after you and your pets. And will not rip you off.

Horrible customer service. A doctor here prescribed medicine but this had made my dog throw up and diarrhea too so I called and asked about what to do. The doctor then told me that they would be able to switch out the medicine for a different kind to avoid the digestion problem. Then I go to pick up said medicine and instead of the switch they described I was asked to pay for new medication and wouldnt be refunded for the previous prescription we barely used.i understand because it’s prescription medication. I understand being u to receive a refund but the manner in which the staff condescending disregarded any word of the switch they told me about was shocking. A random employee who I havent even talked to before named Ellie was extremely unfriendly and quite rude. The lack of empathy and ill mannered way I was talked to was extremely disappointing. I felt completely scammed and neglected. I definitely not recommend this place. The receptionist name Lexi was helpful though she was trying to help me out I definitely not recommend going there Avoid this place

Buyer beware Have normally had very good experiences with this vet clinic but recently some staffing changes have made the visits less about the animals and more about money. It seems owning a pet is more about an opportunity to cash in. Puppies can be expensive as it is, however within the first 6 months count on the average visit to be no less than $150+ per. Shop around is my suggestion and get the financial information before committing. The new alarming trend is the hard sell to get pet "insurance" and a number of vet clinics have either been absorbed by a larger corporation to sell this mandate as it cleans up the bottom line. Other independent clinics have also adopted this practice. This clinic will make you feel "less" for opting out of the insurance option and charge you accordingly. Good business is founded on solid values, not financial strategies.

I had to bring my cat, Tiger, in because he got into some medical marijuana brownie remnants in the sink, and the office said I might have to wait a few hours for them to call back, as all their appointments were booked for the day, and they'd have to squeeze him in sometime in between. As I was filling out the paperwork, someone else called to say they were running a bit late for their own pet's big day (must have been a surgery or something), and the kind ladies offered to look at Tiger right then. I am very grateful to everyone in the office for being kind, understanding, and non-judgmental, and for doing everything they could to calm my cat down, and to reassure me that my visit wasn't pointless, even though they said he looked like he was recovering fine. Thank you so much for being such an awesome team! My cat and I both appreciate you all very much!

Unfortunatly have had a few bad experiences here now and have moved the a different vet. We were sent appointment reminders and I called to confirm an appointment. When I showed up for my appointment they said I didn't have one and basicly told me sorry about my luck. We can rebook for weeks out... the vet specialty food in 18$ a bag more than other vets in the area. The lack of information given when at an appointment was laughable. It took over a week and 3 phone calls to get the recommended amount of food to feed the cats on their diet and it ended with just read the bag. Which has never been what was recommended to us in the past. Nice convenient location but not worth the problems that come with it.

Dr Miller only cares about your money!!! She has missed simple diagnosis and tried to shame us for not taking care of our pet. She tried to make it seem like we don’t know our dog or how to take care of it. When we talked to her about it she still insisted that she didn’t do anything wrong. We are not the only people she has tried to shame as well. Our neighbors took there dog Olin after it broke a tooth while eating dog food and Dr Miller tried to shame them and imply they don’t know how to take care of their dog. We have been treated poorly there to many times now and will be going else where.

I have been coming here with my ever-growing gang of animals since we got Billy 6 years ago. Everyone knows my pets and will come say hi to them. They call to check on everyone even if we were at a 24/7 facility in the middle of the night. Dr Miller is a great vet, and goes above and beyond. Billy has been having some ongoing issues and I left a message regarding this, but it being Saturday I did not expect anything to happen until Monday. Dr Miller called me after hours, and we were able to get the medication Billy needed. I really appreciate this gesture, and I know Billy does too! Thank you!

Our senior cat Scout was a patient of Dr. Catherine, much to our dismay, he passed away just before Christmas. Dr. Catherine took time with him and us doing everything she could to make him better and give us as much time with him as possible. She always gave me options in his care, your pets best interests are a priority for her. She is compassionate about her job and very caring to animals. I have no problems recommending her to animal parents. Thank you for everything Dr. Catherine, Cassie, Montana, Jo and anyone else who cared for Scout.

I went to VCA expecting the worst, but left so grateful and relieved. It was evident that the vets and staff love animals - there were all very kind and caring. I was very impressed that they gave me a clear estimate before they proceeded, making sure their billing and costs were transparent. I also appreciated that they took the time to explain all the medications clearly, and even called me next day to make sure everything was going OK. Great experience with VCA, thank you to the whole team!

Dr. Miller and her staff are knowledgeable, caring and reasonable. We have taken our dog and cat there for years. Dr. Miller makes our pets feel at ease and it is obvious that she loves all animals. It is no small task to make our cat feel calm after a car ride and then to a strange place. When possible we are given a variety of solutions and time to think about how we want to proceed. I definitely recommend Dr.Miller and her staff.

Highly recommend VCA Royal Oak Animal Hospital to per owners. The staff there is very friendly and well trained. Easy to book appointment and you can manage your pet status or get the docs via their app. Dr. Miller is very professional, she explained everything in very detail form and make sure you can understand. Its happy being have 2 kittens yet its more happy to have a vet you can trusted and its so near your live location!

  • shewhois1958

This is a wonderful team of professionals. They are very caring with my dog Millie and have solved any problems that arise. Dr. Miller took the time with me to explain detail for Millie’s care. We have always been met by any and all members of the team with Kindness and Compassion. We are so very fortunate to have Dr. Miller and Associates as our veterinary team. I highly recommend them!

  • Kendra Brands

I brought my new dog in for a wellness check today. She is quite fearful, but Dr. Miller was able to put her at ease very quickly with her gentle manner and skill with animals of all types. Dr. Miller provides excellent care to all of her patients. I have been bringing my fur babies here for over 14 years. I highly recommend Dr. Miller.

  • Dallas Bailey

We had gone here for years however we will not be returning. I brought our kittens in and the vet wasn't direct however she seemed sorta rude about my cat's weight gain and other stuff. On top of that, the cost of vaccinating our cats here was extremely expensive, we spent 470.00 just to get two cats vaccinated.....

  • Camille Roberts

Honestly so ridiculous that a dog need an exam just to buy standard dewormer. Not only can you walk into a rural vet and buy it with no issues, even people don't require a fecal exam to get a prescription for dewormer. Completely lacking common sense! Talk about a money grab!

  • Dawn Mallyon

We've been taking our dog to Dr. Miller for 12 years. She's a wonderful, caring vet. We just got a new puppy, and we hope to have her care with Dr. Miller for her life as well. The staff are super conscientious and really care about the pets. Highly recommend.

  • Lisa K

Great clinic! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and they make a seemingly stressful situation easier to deal with. I no longer live in the area but I will definitely continue to bring my pets here. I'm happy to recommend this place to everyone.

  • Jessica Tkachuk

Dr. Miller is incredibly kind and compassionate. We moved across town and chose to keep her as our vet because I couldn’t imagine brining my dog or cat to anyone else.

  • Kathy Kenyon

I trust Dr . Miller with all of Charlie’s needs. All of the employees are friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend them for anyone’s pets needs.

  • Ricardo Moreno

What kind of hospital is this that doesn’t accept emergencies!? It only accepts appointments. It was useless when we needed it the most.

  • Alexandra Phillips

These women always go above and beyond, and take the time to explain and help me understand what is going on and what my options are.

  • Laurie Campbell

Catherine Miller and her team are compassionate and analytical - not an easy combination. I recommend them without hesitation!

  • Krista Gudmundson

Dr. Miller and her staff are very knowledgeable and over the years have shown such love for all pets.
