We were looking for somewhere that would appeal to our two teenage boys and struck gold with this place. If you've ever been to Camera Obscura in Edinburgh you'll know what to expect: a series of rooms featuring all manner of optical illusions, many of them interactive. The big appeal for kids with phones is that they can take all manner of fantastic photos which appear to be impossible in many cases but they're just very clever tricks of the eye. It's in a fabulous location in Oxford Street, right by Oxford Circus, it's essentially right under the shops. We paid £74 for a family of four (as far as I could see that's the same whether you pay on the door or in advance but for other tickets you can save money by paying online). It isn't cheap but where is in central London? We spent a good 90 mins or so here and would have gone round again if we had more time. Perplexed to see people say they walked round in 20 minutes. They obviously didn't engage with the exhibits or appreciate them in any way. Thoroughly absorbing fun and very highly recommended!

Let's start from saying that I invited two friends to join me AFTER reading the not so positive reviews and I was stressing out as I though they would hate it and I would look like an idiot. We went and with my relief, we had fun (we are 36y average). Sure the place is not going to be the best museum ever and sure the ticket is pretty steep (hence the 4* as it could have been 16£ rather than 24!!) and still I found it to be full of little nuggets of info I didn't know about. Geeky stuff that made us laugh and over all we had a nice afternoon. We book at 7p on a theusday and it was kind of empty which added value to the overall experience. It closed at 8p and when they came to remind us we had 10' left we were all surprise as we didn't realise how long we had been there already! Overall if you have 24£ extra and want to do something silly and quirky I would recommend it

Very conveniently situated near Oxford Circus Underground Station, on Oxford St. itself, The Twist Museum is an interesting 1 Hour diversion from the drudgery of everyday life - and worth a visit, filled with mind bending (& provoking) visual illusions. However, it is quite pricey to get into (almost £30 per adult at the door), and the tickets are single entry only (£30 for an Annual Pass would have been a welcome incentive to come back). The staff are very friendly & polite though - and my party of 3 adults & 1 kid was given a discount in the form of a Family Ticket - instead of the usual 3 adult + 1 kid single tickets. The museum is popular especially at weekends, & some of the exhibits needed updating / repair - due no doubt to popular use.

We went at 2 pm. If you can go even earlier, i would recommend it. 2pm That's a good time to go because it gets busy very fast. The locker system is a bit tricky and confusing. The locker/cloakroom area is small it got packed, and there was no space, and there are only a few lockers for the number of people. The staff are friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Tickets are expensive. But i think for a day out with the kids, seeing something different is worth it, and it's also educational as well. My son had an amazing time, and so did I.

Whatever expectations you have before going here, I’m sure the museum will definitely exceed it. I had such a fun time exploring the illusion exhibits at the Twist Museum. I booked the tickets online a day before. There might be limited availability for some time slots to arrive at the museum. Going through the science of light and visual illusion was really thrilling. A great experience to have. Best enjoyed with other people. You’ll get to take loads of pictures as well.

The museum was super fun. As art student taking a trip to London, it was really fun to experience stuff we learned at school but never really get to see. The museum exhibition is also a great place for cool pictures for your social or just for you. Really had fun playing with friends. Would recommend bringing a camera or taking out your phone for some part, such as the giant chair. (The mask on pics is mine, pictures have been edited)

Very nice place to go to, with a lot of different exhibits of different kinds of illusions, some visual, some sonic. I definitely think that this is a place to go to if the name and description of what this place is appeals to you at all. The first room, even, from all the way when you go into the place, is really great as it removes all colour from your vision, and everything becomes yellowish grey, which was very nice

I really enjoyed my time here. I've walked past the museum many times and have always been intrigued, so I was happy with my experience overall. Some of the illusions were mindboggling and well presented, while others were lightly underwhelming. I thought it would be more sensory and immersive than it was, so for that, I was slightly disappointed, but otherwise, I had a great time, and the kids loved it too....

Approximately £22 each for tickets, this activity will take you about 45 minutes to complete. The venue is located a very short walk from Oxford Street tube station. Twist Museum is interesting and interactive; much better than The Dopamine nonsense. The concept is playing tricks on your mind and eyes. The staff are friendly and offer to take photos. The place is clean and tidy. Most people in there seem to interact with each other which is refreshing and wholesome. Quite a nice experience.

The museum is really interesting and fun. Some illusion I knew already, but others I got to discover along the way. My only criticism would be the price. I don't believe that 23£-27£ per personne is in any way reasonable. The museum is cool but not a 50£ for two people kind of cool. To anyone that hasn't got a lot to spend, it's not worth it. A good price would have been, maybe 10£ a personne.

No no no this is not a 4 or 5 star. 2 things don't let the pictures disillusion into thinking oh this place is huge. It's a very small museum down in a basement on Oxford Street. Some things you want to see you have a queue with people as its a very small space. The price for 2 adults and 2 kids 79 pounds. Not worth it. It's was a bit different thing to do in an afternoon in London.

I loved the museum, it's really fun and exciting! I went but myself and I'd say it's best to go with at least one more person, because there are some things/pictures that are more fun with somebody else I think it's a bit overpriced for the type of museum, though. It's not too big and some things are quite well-known already, but it's still a nice thing to do for 40 minutes tops.

The Twist Museum was so much fun!!! There were amazing elements and installations that made you question your own eyes and physics. I wish it wasn’t as crowded, so we could really enjoy each element. It felt a little chaotic, as so many people wanting to explore the same area as you. The elements and installations were interactive and mind blowing. Great for all ages. My boys came home and was trying to recreate their own versions of their favourite elements.

First of an absolute joy to find free lockers at the start so we didn't have to lug our bags around. The twist (the way I see things) is an interactive museum/gallery of optical illusions. Took the three of us about 1hr 15mins to get round which made the 70 pound ticket price steep to put it politely but loads of photo/Instagram moments available inside. Bonus Point for the friendly helpful staff. Would I do it again?. Not at those prices, but we had fun

  • Pabz B

Great fun. Mind bending illusions. Lots of cool photo/ video opportunities for the gram if you’re into that sort of thing. You only need an hour there as it’s a lot smaller than I expected but definitely worth a visit if you’re in Oxford Street. Easy to navigate. The free lockers are a great bonus so you’re not having to carry around coats and bags.

Fun museum focusing on many different optical illusions. I had seen some before, and some were new to me. The museum was well done, but I do think it was a bit too expensive to enter. With that said, if I came back to London with my kiddo, I would take him here because he'd have a blast and learn a lot.

Really good! Something different. 4 of us went and paid for a family ticket, so in my opinion relatively reasonable for a attraction in London. Went with boys ages 10 and 11 and they both loved it as did the Adults. We spent a good hour, but actually on reflection we should/could have spent longer.

Buying tickets in advance gives a discount, there was no queue and hardly anyone there when we went, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The gift shop is rather expensive and but as bad as other prices in London. The exhibition is somewhat interactive and long enough to fill an hour.

The museum is interesting, we finished it in 40 minutes, that aside it did have some illusions which question yourself. Great date place and they provide free lockers. They had the room which messes with your perception of height. Overall nice date place or for kids

The museum was great, went with 11 year old and she got a lot out of it. We were done in about an hour and a half, so it was a bit expensive for the time we were there, but a fun experience. The arrival times helped make sure there weren't too many people in the space at once, so everyone could engage with each exhibit.

  • Sebastian Nichols

Would highly recommend twist museum to anyone into modern art installations. The museum brings are fun vibe and many of the exhibitions are both enjoyable and interactive. The wait time was minimal and there was a coat room where you could store your stuff free of charge. My favourite exhibition was the slanted room.

Somewhere nice to explore in Oxford Circus. Short walk from the underground so easy transport. We had booked our tickets online and was running late for our time slot. However, had no issues at all and staff were super friendly.

Very fun experience! It's well organized and easy to understand how each illusion works. I've had a great time visiting the museum. Visiting before peak time pays off as it can get crowded at popular illusions.

Very fun place! The free lockers were really handy, toilets were clean and we didn't wait to go in. Staff were helpful throughout the experience. The illusions were a lot of fun and my 4 and 6 year old had a great time. We spent about 60-75 minutes enjoying the different rooms. More

A fun hour spent, the museum could have been bigger with more rooms / things to see but I highly recommend anyway. Staff all really friendly. The museum really close to Oxford Circus so easy to get to. Go in the week as weekends are really busy.

  • Richie Unstead

Take as long as you like to explore all the exhibits. Kids loved it as did we. Whilst it's not huge if you have fun with all the content and take your time it's a really enjoyable couple of hours. Staff were all helpful, free lockers are great.

Great little find on Oxford street. An optical illusion museum that's very entertaining and plenty to see inside. Nice and roomy to get around in the wheelchair, couple of exhibitions I couldn't get in to as slopped but that didn't bother

  • Sami P

A little bit on the high end of my budget l, but an amazing experience. As you go from room to room, you get to explore different experiences and it is so much fun. It is a fun and exciting way to learn different concepts of science. Kids

Beautiful place with lots of interesting illusions. It's funny how our eyes and brain tricks us and how easy it is to trick them too. It's worth buying the ticket online as it is cheaper but buy it a few days before the visit as it takes

Quirky and fun exhibit. I highly recommend getting tickets for the off-peak times, as it can become quite busy. The extra free lockers are also great!

Most of the illusions are very well known and you’ve probably already seen in textbooks or the internet. Definitely not worth 20-something pounds! Better visit one of the other museums in London that are also… free :) More
