I have stayed in this exact hotel over 50 times since last year until today. I have had great experience with all the staff member I've had to deal with every single time, expect this morning. Today, 5th of February I woke up late (11:55am) and I had to check out at 12pm. At 12:09, I hear a knocking in the door of the room I was staying at, so I assumed it was a clear or a staff member. I straight away went next to the door and said one sec please I woke up late I'm just getting my stuff ready. After 20 seconds (no more nor less) I hear a knocking again so I repeated myself, next thing you know the man opens the door while I am literally wearing leggings and nothing else , as I was in the middle of getting changed. I went to run and close the door and he started pushing it I got scared and started screaming . He saw a towel on the floor and said why is that there are you smoking in the room I said are you okay in the head I just threw it there I am rushing to get ready? The man, pushed the door to my face and hurt my feet while trying to come in the room while he was aware that I was undressed. After I started screaming , he left and went down to reception. I finished getting ready quick and I went straight to reception, straight away the man starts saying I am not allowed to come back ever again. Out of anger I said I happily won't and because of the amount of disrespect the guy has given me , I started screaming saying how disgusting the way he acted was I feel embarrassed and I felt like my privacy was gone forever. I mean, if I said I am undressed and I am coming out in 1 Min , why walk in to the room like it's nothing ? I was 10 min late... RIDICULOUS I will never ever step back to that hotel and as I said to him this will not stay like this, I am going to sort it out myself soon.

I’ve always been to different travel lodges, and after this experience I will definitely not be returning. You have lost one of your good customers. Well done. You will be in uttershock, Firstly, the male manager/receptionist is rude and arrogant. So, we asked for extra towels and got given attitude (were paying for a room lol) have some respect for your guest. Secondly, whilst in the shower I look down and notice something moving in the water, I panic and stopped the shower. You know what it was? A cockroach, riggling around in the shower tiles, cockroaches are usually found in dirty, mouldy, wet conditions. There was also mould in the air vent in the bathroom and lots of dust. Looks like it wasn’t cleaned for at least a month or two. (Disgusting) no wonder why this place is rated a 2 star budget hotel. Thirdly, I didn’t even want to eat breakfast but I had no choice, as I didn’t eat for over 6 hours. I also found a hair in my food, when complaining to the receptionist (male) he was rude to me and gave me attitude. I will be taking this further to health and safety and I assure you this place will be shut down very shortly, I have read similar reviews on this place, so it can’t be just all these guest and not the hotel, right? I am in utter shock to find a cockroach in a hotel and mouldy conditions. Utterly shocked. I will be taking this incident further to health and safety, have already written an email to headoffice and awaiting a refund. I wouldn’t even give this place 1 star. The male receptionist looks like a creep and needs to be dismissed immediately. Would never come here ever again and I’ll make sure my friends and family don’t step one foot near it.

Oh My God…THEY ARE SO HELPFUL. They will help make your stay Enjoyable. Whatever you need, they will provide with a smile. They live by the rule of THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT Customer service is beyond on point, Manager is a loving kind hearted person, he is very helpful with a warm heart. Very understanding and so down to earth. The guy is way too kind for earth. Social service of Redbridge brought us here due to some unfortunate circumstances and have been in and out of 4 different hotels in the space of two weeks (with a 6month old baby) forest gate hotel in newham was the worse experience out of them all. The manager/owner was very dismissive and racist. The rooms there are dilapidated and not child friendly so we had to move as the owner was being unhelpful so Redbridge took us out of there into this place. The rooms are very clean, carpet is kid friendly and spacious and they provided a cot bed for us. It was a rough two weeks and finally we are in safe hands right here at this hotel.

We stayed overnight for business purposes and it was an awful experience. We checked in to be told our room was the last available even though we had pre-booked so we were lucky. Our room stunk off cigarettes to the point where it was suffocating. The bathroom smelt the worst where someone had obviously smoked a whole pack before our late night arrival. We had to open up the windows in February so it freezing just to try and remove some of the smell. The window faced out onto a dual carriageway so the noise made it impossible to sleep but we had no choice because of the smell. When we left in the morning the reception desk was empty so we could not complain. We waited around a bit but had to leave in the end as we needed to head to a meeting and didn't want to be late. Overall, it was awful and I do not recommend it. It is cheap so I guess you get what you pay for but I would have expected more from a Travelodge.

  • Adnan Aleem

Andreia and Roxana consistently displayed a high level of professionalism, attentiveness, and friendliness, creating a welcoming atmosphere during our stay. Also, Andreia and Roxana were quick to respond to our requests and made sure our preferences were met, enhancing our overall experience. And they were always polite and respectful, ensuring that we felt valued and comfortable during our stay.

The room is incredibly cozy and inviting, with its tasteful decor and soothing color scheme. The bed is an absolute dream - the mattress is plush and comfortable, providing a perfect night's sleep. I also appreciate the attention to detail in the room's layout and amenities, creating a wonderful retreat after a long day.

Although the room itself was okay, the attitude of some of the staff and manager were not. The manager was rude, and treated me like a child, due to a misunderstanding, where I was under the impression that my organisation had paid for the room extension but hadn't, which I was unaware of. The night receptionist was dismissive of any questions that I asked. I did not feel welcome at all and would not return to this hotel and the manager's customer service skills were lacking, as his mannerisms were bordering on aggressive (and yes, I shouted too) The £3.00 wifi was intermittent, kept cutting out and was more like dial up. I was also charged £80.00 for the Sunday, in an almost empty hotel. The bad attitude came free. A great welcome for a visiting keyworker. Andrew. East Sussex.

I have booked a room for me on 8th of July in the morning 5 O’clock. When I went to Hotel they didn’t allow me. I just wanted to rest for few hours as I was going to Liverpool. Staff didn’t allow me so I said I just book a room I want my refund. She gave me a number and said I can call this number later that day. When I called that number, he was so rude and unprofessional. He said you supposed to call me earlier I said your colleague asked me to call the number later. He hanged up the call on me while I was talking to him. I paid £198.99 for 1 day and I needed a rest so badly. Then I slept in my car. Definitely not recommended to anyone. One of the worst experience of my life.

UK’s worst Hotel

Decent location, reasonable rooms. Sadly the staff let it down. I tried multiple times to inform them in advance that I'd be checking in a day late, due to sickness. Calls charged 13p per minute, but no answer each time. I wanted to time them the heads up, and potentially amend my booking for an extra night. Finally got through to someone, as diverted to the Central Reservations Team, but they were very unhelpful and refused to help. For someone who uses Travelodge regularly over the years, this is very poor service. Hence the low review.

Hotel is an ideal location, not far from Romford Town Centre, short walk from the railway station, and good bus links too.

Avoid mainly due to the parking!! Can only park for 10 minutes by the side of the hotel and I was blocked in as some people obviously don't mind getting a ticket so I couldn't drive out! Subsequently Britannia gave me a ticket!! Not fair! Hotel staff very unhelpful, as it's private land run by Britannia! Also the Manager named Raj was very rude to me and shouting regarding the parking. This was mainly because he'd got a parking ticket from the council when he wasn't able to park his car in the 10 minute loading bay next to the Travelodge to go to work. What a cheek! I will never stay at that one ever again. However, I stay frequently in many of the other travelodges. Never have any of those members of staff had me in tears! I could go on but you get the jist of it all.

  • Lucy Ellis

The person who booked this for me was informed the room had aircon. Haha aircon turned out to be a fan and windows you could open about 6inches and no more. My room overlooked a busy road that had traffic passing by most of the night. Very noisy and I wasn't able to have a full nights sleep because of traffic noise. Parking was a bit unpleasant too. You can take your chance on the single yellow line off-road parking. You must move your by 8.30am. I saw one car clamped. Or it's a car park, once you finally find the entrance, at an EXTRA £6.50. The car park is quite away from the entrance to TL. I felt very vulnerable walking on my own late at night. Didn't use the kettle as it had some black bits in it. Bed was comfortable. Pillows were cheap and uncomfortable.

  • Dean Scott

Definitely of a lower standard that premier inn. I've stayed in a few premier inns but we went for the travel lodge as it was slightly closer and cheaper. To be fair it wasn't an awful stay but the bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom was tired and the bath felt dirty, you could not open the window and keep it open and the hotel in general felt tired and unloved. The staff were fine in the dealings we had with them and our stay was ok, definitely not the best but also not true worst, just slightly below average. The location is good for the town centre but the area itself doesn't exactly feel safe and secure.

  • Rob bo

wouldnt even give this a 2 star hotel rating. Uncomfortable beds and woke up with back ache. Hotel staff very rude, bathroom bin never emptied from previous occupants as sanitry towels and razors in the bin. When i informed staff they asked me to bring the bin to them which there was no way was i touching it, never filled up coffee or milk even though the notice was left on the door, also jewellery from previous occupants on the shelves so cant see how the room had been cleaned, £10 a night to park too in the carpark they advise

We stayed as a family of 4 with 2 young children and it was awful. Constantly walking through clouds of cannabis smoke (inside and outside). Also woken every night by by drunk teenagers. The staff were lovely but either oblivious to the problems or reluctant to do anything about it. We ended up asking family to look after our children to take away from what was an incredibly unpleasant visit. We certainly won’t be back - there’s a nice premier inn nearby which costs a little more but doesn’t attract the same problems

I have been to a number of disappointing Travelodge in last four years but this one falls to very bottom of the list. Firstly, my alocated room was just not tidied up, let alone cleaned and the next room was not completely different. Staff on duty did not ask me question as though she had seen me there before, noting that was my first time here. So I had to proactively ask her questions about their facilities and aprking conditions. They five discount on parking charges but I knew only because I went back to ask the receptionist. I surely won't be back there.

  • ibrahim muhammad

Despite the hotel's excellent proximity to Romford station, shopping malls, and Romford market, there are few unique aspects that set it apart. Currently, the hotel lacks restaurant services, and the rooms are not tidied during guests' stays. Additionally, if you decide to check out early, be prepared to lose some money as the hotel does not refund unused funds. While there are some shortcomings, overall, I find the hotel satisfactory to a certain extent after conducting a comprehensive analysis.

Went to visit family. Was the middle of a heatwave and the air con wasn't working in either of our rooms (there were two rooms between us). We had a dog in each room, and seeing as the windows were sealed closed, this was not a great environment. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The Aircon was fixed in one room, and while the other wasn't, my mum and her dog were transferred to another room. I have to say, even when the Aircon is working, it's not particularly effective.

Nice hotel - very newly decorated interior of the hotel as well as the rooms. Very clean bathroom, comfortable bed. Windows you could open - nice for my wife who has problems with sleeping with closed windows. Friendly staff. Really simple small budget-breakfast. Very near the bus-stop and the market / shops are within a few minutes.

Not a bad Travelodge. Although parking was a pain as when I arrived there were no tokens. When this was sorted it was ok, discount applied for Travel lodge customers. Also we were locked out of our room at 11am! Check out is not until 12 noon so a bit annoyed at the fuss to allow access after we had been for a morning run. But it was sorted in the end. Room clean, carpet needed refresh. Bed very comfortable. Shower room was fine.

This hotel is clean, convenient and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. My family and I were taken good care of under the management of Mr. Umar. He as a manager, made sure the guests stayed comfortable. I recommend this hotel for a family visit as it is fairly priced and in a good location with excellent management! Next morning i got to find out from staff that they do this to take extra money just incase some one doesn’t turn up. I would never stay in travelodge ever again.

The room we entered was not clean at all. It had not been cleaned from the previous occupants! Reception gave us another room that had been cleaned after complaining. So for this reason a low star rating however for location it's fantastic. Everything you need right close by and a short walk (10 min) to train into central London is only 30 minutes. More than ample secure car parking at a very affordable price.

I was very disappointed in this Travelodge, I don't want to call this a hotel because it doesn't deserve this title. The beds were uncomfortable, the sheets were cheap , scratchy and dirty.the carpets were filthy and the bathroom was full of mildew It's not worth paying for breakfast because all you get given is not even worth £2.

Room was freezing cold we had a little wall heater that wasn't big enough to warm the room. We only had 1 set of towels for 3 off us to use. Bedding had marks on it along with the previous guests rubbish under the bed. Children running in and out of reception and playing in the lifts along with a bad smell of cannabis definitely would not stay again. Nothing like the other travelodges we have stayed in

Maybe we were unfortunate but worst experience ever in an hotel. Issue with water but the management of the problem was very bad. Stay at the hotel the first night. Journey in taxi to go to another one on a services but no place available. So get back to the no water hotel. The third night finally we got a room in the hotel next by. (no moment back. No discount. No offer. No excuse )

Unfortunately when we got there at night, we could smell drugs. In fact some corridors were also smelled of drugs, which I wasn't expecting. Apart from that, the room was nice and clean plus good customer service was a bonus. Having a car park next door is also a plus point, given how difficult it is to find the parking in London.

Bed had bed bugs in it. Obviously I only noticed this as I was going to bed, but when I went downstairs to tell them and request another room, I was told to just live with it, and find another hotel if I wanted to. Nobody seemed particularly concerned about a bed bug outbreak.

The staff here especially someone called Michael and another woman seem to have an issue with people of colour. They evicted us for 'smoking' when there is no cctv evidence. My boyfriend was also seen walking outside to smoke a cigarette. On top of this, they entered our room whilst we were not there to go through our things which is out of order. Would not recommend this branch.

I wasn't very happy with the upkeep of the place considering what we paid. I've paid a lot less for a lot cleaner and nicer hotels. It was dusty and dirty. Even if the hotel isn't great the least I expect is the cleanliness to be up to date. The carpets looked like they hadn't been hoovered in months and the room just didn't feel clean.

  • Radosław Kwiatkowski

There are two Travelodges next each other (3 min walking distance) so check your postcode first. Lot of rooms so you have a chance to got family room. Clean and tidy but bathroom is old stylish with bath. No air conditioning. Parking cost 6.5£ overnight but you need to use ground floor, take token and ask for discount in the reception.

  • Fern Raven (Catori Yoga)

I wish there was a 3.5 button! It is a Travelodge and they are not renowned for comfort BUT this one was clean, the staff friendly and to appearances the sheets clean. The room was huge (must be used as a family room) and although the bathroom needed some TLC it was clean. The area is busy and the hotel was busy all night.

  • Thisismemerch

The lodge appeared clean and I thought it looked great for cheap price. The shower had great water pressure and lots of hot water. However, the beds were so hard that myself and two others in my party had our worst sleep ever. I think a park bench may have been more comfortable. This was the only thing that let it down.

  • John Andrews

Room was too hot, even with the window open, and the mattress was extremely hard and uncomfortable, both of which are unusual for Travelodge as have stayed in several and never had these issues. Made for a very sleepless and uncomfortable nights' sleep. On the plus side the room was very clean an had fresh carpet laid

The room that I had was at the rear of the property and was nice and quiet, only a short walk to the railway station.

Room was average but the toilet was something else. Toilet bowl and sink had stains in them and a control dial of the shower/bath was missing. No breakfast either.

Tight entrance and lift/elevator. Not very clean. Clean towels and bed but soap containers were empty or not working. Staff was very helpful during check-in.

Good location for what we needed. Appearance was good and clean. But extract fan in room 317 was clogged with hair and fluff so not cleaned for ages.
