Not a bad Travelodge. Stayed for one night. Access to the hotel is via a strange ground floor entrance (buzzer entry) with the reception accessible on the 1st floor. Staff very friendly. Room was smaller than the usual Travelodge rooms that we are used to but very clean in the main. One thing we did notice is that there is NO air conditioning. No issue for us being January and cold out but I imagine unbearable in the summer with only a small window for ventilation (very noisy road outside!). There is a heater for colder months though. The area outside is typical of London. So much so they have to have security on the main door at night. Not experienced that at a Travelodge before. Very friendly and helpful security staff though. No bar at this hotel (again a first for me) and no restaurant area. They have breakfast boxes but I would recommend a 2 min walk over the road to McDonalds on Mare street from breakfast. There is also Costa coffee directly below the hotel. All said and done, a fairly pleasant stay with the train station (Hackney central) directly next door and on the bus route in to central London.

We stayed for 11 days in room #201 in Hackney, and we first put out a TOP Up sign, which was only top-up the towels only without cleaning our room. The second week we put out the sign again and hope to have the room clean, which was never done. On the day we leave, I changed my nice white printed silk pajama and left them in the bathroom and forgot about putting them in my carry-on suitcase. when we were on the plane, I realized that I didn't put it away. I called immediately when we got back home that was your midnight. The following day when I called the reception desk and told me to call back in 20 minutes, I did . nothing was in Lost and Found turned in. Again, he asked me to call back Monday, January 23, 232023, and I did. The answer was nothing turned in. DISHONEST PEOPLE shouldn't work at the hotel at all. I am sure I left them in the bathroom, cause I only have a carryon checked in at the hotel. it not so much to be mixed up anywhere. PLEASE SCREEN YOUR PEOPLE WHEN YOU HIRE THEM!!!

Shambolic beyond belief. Arrived and was told my room was no longer available, seemingly it was my fault for not answering the phone when they tries to call me during a long train journey from the other side of the UK. I was told rooms were being refurbished and not available to guests but the management had said to go ahead and take bookings regardless because some people don't bother to turn up when they've booked. Failing that they would just send me to another hotel in the middle of the night. They started ringing around to see which other branches had rooms, the resounding answer seemed to be none. Wow!!! My protests seemed to strike a sympathetic with one of the reception people who then decided to give me someone else's room who hadn't arrived to check-in yet. The room had no sign to use for making up the room (the one you hang on the door handle) and the kettle was so filthy and disgusting I didn't dare use it.

Greeted by a lovely lady on reception, a guy who was drunk and another with a joint in his mouth. Great start. Air con in reception was nice on a hot day.pity they don't have it in the room. Rooms are large but not clean. Bobbles and rubbish under bed. Crisps on seat. Bathroom door had hairs. Quieter than in thought it would be withnlots of bars etc nearby. Paid for late check out but door was knocked in 3 times even though i had the sign saying do not disturb. Really annoyed. If you need iron hair dryer etc you must ask at reception. TV never had signal. Kept dropping out and you have to pay for Internet after 30 minutes Hackney is an awful place. Dirty.

The 2 guys in recpetion made me feel uncomfortable and i found it unacceptable. Neighbourhood felt unsafe.witnessed shoplifters in 2 stores I went in. Felt followed whilst on the phone.

did not / would never stay here but stayed politely next door where the building/lifts/everything is connected as though they are one. was disgracefully, greatly & poorly interrupted by a travel lodge staff member, repetitively demanding I couldn’t use the lifts I’d been using for the past week, as it was illegal? very sad to see your staff tell me to ‘use my brain’ abruptly as I was simply getting to my room. but not just this, he even escorted me, back down the lift ( id been using all week ) to the bottom floor like a child, and watched as i tried ( for the first time ) to use an alternative, as though i truly…hadn’t used my brain ever before this. interesting to say the least, but very brutal, deaf and plain unattractive. train your staff. hospitality doesn’t even need one to be that intelligent, but this steeped lower than grade three. yuck. ( and sorry to all the lovely grade three’ers out there ) x

I know people say this a lot, but I’m not one to write reviews, but had to to warn people when staying here! The hotel room itself was standard, but the bathroom is really loud so will need to keep it closed when trying to sleep. Also, warning when on first floor, you will need to keep curtains closed as there will be eyes opposite that might look in. Our key cards never worked and had to get them rescanned twice in order to get into our room. We also did a late check out (2pm rather than 12pm) fair enough, added quite late the night before, but cleaners walked in twice waking us up and then at 1pm (after putting the sleeping sign on to not get disturbed again) they walk in once again saying for us to check out… we still had another hour! For the cost, while reasonable enough, you would expect a bit better than this.

This hotel was exactly what we needed. Somewhere to rest our head after a long day of exploring. Was very bear bones, no frills at all, but beds were comfy enough and showers were hot. Why I knock off 1 star is, the rooms could have been cleaner and the amenities are none existent. Still hair and debris on the floor in the bathroom.. not a huge deal. Bring your own body wash, its basically hand soap. TV didn't work, again not a huge deal we didn't hang out in the room. Just small things that could have made this location a 5 star. The location of the hotel couldn't have been any better really. It's basically connected to the Hackney Central station. And there are a number of double decker busses that can get you anywhere. All in all if I HAD to stay here again, for the price I would.

In our first room and the hallways throughout the hotel, the carpets are filthy. There was an apple sized blood red stain next the bed and there was someone (not a hotel guest or staff member) shouting and banging on the door outside for most of the evening. When we asked to move rooms the staff were accommodating but the next room was only slightly better. The lift kept braking, the card keys worked only occasionally and the service staff shouted through the doors at you and each other in the morning. To top it off we have brought bed bugs home with us to our flat and will have to pay hundreds of euros for chemical extermination. I cannot state enough how much you shouldn't stay in this hotel. It's not really the fault of the staff but the hotel is not fit to stay in.

Couldn't reach a human at Travel Lodge to speak to on the phone regarding this incident; a travel lodge member of staff from Hackney branch (without a name badge so I can not identify her by name) was being extremely aggressive and abusive towards the staff members at the local KFC (I was a passer by). She was shouting, swearing and using racist slurs at the staff because she did not want to pay extra for her drink, more shocking she was a woman of colour being racist towards another group of ethnic people. A gentleman in queue behind her stood up to her but she started to verbally abuse him also in an incredibly aggressive manner using gross vulgar language. If this is the quality of Travel Lodge staff then I'm glad to have never used their services, absolutely vile behaviour!! Travel Lodge need to do better with hiring decent human beings.

  • Isra

Horrible and worse experience I ever had in any hotel entire life. Even 0 star hotels in under develope countries are better. No topping up of towels or anything, I can say cleaning could be excused due to covid restrictions. We were given wrong room key, in the middle of night some one else entered in our room who were given the same keys as us. Room locked didnt work each time we came in, until it was completely changed. Worse customer service at desk, lady dont even smile at you. When we asked extra 15 mins at checkout, they gave barely 5 !!! Better shut down this branch, in the middle of world's busiest city this is what you are providing. And for reference: we stayed in rooom 208, from 9-11th July.

I bet Travel Lodge doesn’t guarantee you a good nights sleep. Rooms are okay very basic, beds are awful my back isn’t right this morning. Both party’s were up at 4am for different reasons. The hotels location is right next to Hackney Central, loads of buses everywhere and Hackney station is next to the front door. So location wise it’s fantastic. Wetherspoons around the corner which is about the only decent sit down place to eat within walking distance. Another nice pub opposite way on the corner. Bath outlet is blocked and takes forever to drain after a shower. Net curtains “really” . Staff were very nice both morning and night and very helpful.

  • Nozz Alom

Booked a family room with Travelodge Hackney. The room was clean and however some amenities were missing from the bathroom. I had to ask at reception for a few items. The reception staff were friendly. The hotel is located with access to hackney central station near the car park and Bus stop a few meters away from hotel which is convenient for travelling into or around London. Overall, a great experience at the Travelodge. Would return and recommend to anyone wishing to stay at a reasonably priced hotel in London.

The worst experience ever! My house was flooded for like 5 months and this is where I was staying. The male manager was extremely rude and threatened me and my family by verbally harassing me. He tried to make me leave my room by only giving me a 20 minute notice he kept calling me at work and disturbing me. They tried to lock me out whilst my stuff was inside my room. Also one day around like 3am someone came into my room and said they received the wrong key. They also came into my daughters room without no permission.

We booked two rooms at this hotel with late checkout both ( we went to the party and wanted a nice few hours sleep before driving back home ) and guess what ?!!! Housekeeper came in to the rooms without knocking- at 9 waking us all up . ( not to mention we went sleep at 6 am - and late checkout we paid extra for was till 2 pm ) . Reception guy was really nice - he said he will sort this out for us - and took our details to refund the late checkout fee. Shame they new did this . And we never received the money back .

Noisy with the window open, too hot with the window closed...! Room was a standard Travelodge room, comfortable bed, with prefab bathroom. Bathroom was not cleaned well, and various hairs were in the shower/on the shower curtain. One of two light fittings in bathroom was loose and had fallen from ceiling. Bedroom carpet had what appeared to be chocolate rubbed into it. Bed had one long hair and one short hair on surface when I arrived. On the plus side, while there was no A/C there were two fans in the room, plenty of coffee/tea etc.

  • Ted

The young lady at the reception was amazing and helpful. The room was not so great The bed came apart during the night. In the morning, we found the metal clip that connects the 2 bases together line up. After having a shower, the wet room Doesn't drain very well, which lead to a puddle in front of the door. That itself wasn't to bad accept when I woke up in the night to pee, which resulted in 2 wet feet at 3am

Almost impossible to find decent restaurant in same location as hotel. OK if you wanted take away but otherwise you are stuck.

Convenient location if you need to be in hackney. I rode a motorbike to get there, and there was a parking space behind the hotel. I dont think it's associated with the hotel, but it's there if you need it. It's not overly expensive. The access is all unmanned once you have checked in, reception desk is not on route to the elevator. During my stay it was quiet, the room was clean and tidy and everything worked.

Right next to Hackney Central station, good area for eateries - the rooms are clean and the bed is comfy enough..we were on the station side, not the street (fourth floor) so the view was another building directly opposite but the noise was minimal. You know that a Travelodge will be just the basics (no phone, hairdryer has to be picked up from reception) but everything was fine (could have been cheaper, but it was a Saturday!)

Nothing fancy here but the lady at reception was wonderful. No options for food as its a small travelodge but would stay again as its so close to the station and Oslo where I was watching a gig. Bit expensive for no frills travelodge but there was a strike on so prices were steep everywhere. Clean room and friendly cleaners. Bit noisy at night due to being right by pubs and bars but the window closed was fine.

The staff did not seems to care as they did nothing eleven though I complained several times .

There could never be not even 1 peak of a star for this place but, because I have to, to send those on there you go one star. Absolutely unkept, the shower made noise constantly like you could hear water hissing in the lines. Tea but, no sachets of coffee and I'm a coffee person. I paid over 80 quid for that 1 night in that dump. I will never stay there again and I don't recommend it at all. Not for those lack of standards at that price. You deserve better!!

  • Wayne Gammon

The best thing about this place are the staff, lovely people. The central location. Not too far from Victoria park, the canals and markets. I thought it would be noisy next to the rail station (Hackney central) but I was wrong, could barely hear the railway. Negative….. no restaurant, no breakfast. Short walk to Wetherspoon’s for a value breakfast. Costa right next door. The area is unfortunately plagued by beggars The hotel has just began a refurbishment.

  • Julie Fife

Absolutely disgusting, it was tired and old. The place was filthy, the carpets were disgusting so much so we didn’t dare walk around in bare feet. There was chewing gum in the sink plug hole and the shower curtain was filthy as well. The whole of the corridors and our three rooms absolutely stunk very strongly of cannabis. We felt sorry for poor the staff as they were lovely.

Such a welcoming response when we arrived, the receptionists were very eager to attend to our needs. I didn't have the best nights sleep so requested an alternative pillow. My needs were met promptly. The location of the hotel was perfect for our stay and close to the train station to enable us to sight see and assist out travel needs home also. The hotel is also central to restraunts and shopping facilties.

I use this to stay when visiting family. It's sandwiched between an elevated section of the Overground at Hackney Central and a busy Hackney main road. Like other London Travelodges I find a lot of young people coming in and out but the hotel is very well security guarded, COVID secure and very clean. Room comfortable tho' I always have to try and manage the heater as room a bit cold and duvet a bit thin.

  • Pedro Oliveira

The room I was given was a disabled adapted one therefore the shower and the all bathroom in general was not good. The breakfast is a box to go. Pretty bad, the second day we decided to go to Costa which is just next door. The location was the main reason I booked this hotel and that is good. Just on the back of the overground.

The room was as expected although incredibly warm and not the most modern but the checking in staff and manager were amazing! A real credit to the company. They made us feel welcome and was especially kind to my little girl. There was also some real "hidden gems" in Hackney that took us by surprise and the location next to the overground was perfect for getting out and about.

  • Elizabeth Perreira

Well I've just checked in and I'm not happy. Cause I booked via telephone for a double room, only to be told it's a twin room when I arrived. Then they have no bath stuff for you to shower with. No shampoo ,shower gel etc ,( as stated on wedsite) other than two hard towels . The web site said to only bring your toothpaste and toothbrush. I'm so tired!! And so disappointed!!.

  • Family Meyer

Bit disappointing. The carpet could do with a clean and the bathroom was more of a disabled wet room whereas we looking forward to taking a nice relaxing bath. The room was sweltering Even with a window and a fan on... The weekend was extremely noisy due to its central location, I suppose it's unavoidable that there were drunk people shouting at all hours of the night...

  • Penny Carey

Stayed as at a gig at the Hackney Empire on a Sunday night and saved travelling home late. Great location just a few minutes from the Empire. Small room but perfectly functional. Room very hot so had window open traffic sounds were very loud and went on throughout the night. That said closing the window blocked most of the noise so just an observation not a complaint.

  • Qween

Stayed for 2 nights. Receptionists are really nice. Shower had issues, seats are not cleaned I wiped them myself. They provide you kettle and some complimentary tea bags, instant coffee. Tv is very useful, almost have most channels so I was entertained. Carpets are not very clean. Bed had long woman hairs. Other than that, it is doable but not more than 2 nights.

  • Leon Kirkham

Absolutely wonderful staff!! Two fabulous ladies on the front desk! After such a nightmare with the previous Hotel I had after a 5hr journey from Devon. Travelodge London Hackney striked again! And with no dramas at all, more then delivered the best help ever! With a wonderful over night stay! Safe to say it was a shame to leave! 100% recommend to anybody!

  • D. A. V.

I wrote a bad review about this hotel some time ago but on my second stay they obviously took on board my negative comment and this time they really deserve five start rating! They were superb! The hotel itself feels higher standards than the average Travelodge and the location could not be better, just less than one minute walk to the Overground.

  • DeeDee Bardill

The location for us is great being so close to family. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were simple, but clean. The bed and pillows were thin and firm. No air conditioning and windows that only opened a tiny amount made it very hot and hard to sleep during our July visit.

Nice and tidy rooms, standard Travelodge facilities. Not a lot parking space behind the building - 24h cost £8,40 (if you pay with app) or £9,60 cash. Few shops, bars and restaurants just around the corner. Coffee shop few steps from the hotel. Fantastic location, buses and railway station.

Horrible stinking hotel. The room was just a mess, my bed was dirty with lots of public hear on it. 30 celcius and no airco Never again Staff was OK and polite.

Lovely clean and fairly comfortable room for our family of four. Would have been 5 stars if there had been air conditioning. It was extremely hot.

Really simple check-in experience and very easy to access late at night. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable.

Standard travelodge setup with the new style comfy beds, better value for money than some other travelodge in the area.
