Hello, I went with two friends to this hotel between december 22-26 in 2022. All around the hotel had a clean look and I felt safe here. The first day when we came in, the hotel room was alright, it did not look filthy at all. However, the hotel room was NOT cleaned the days after. nobody brought in clean towels, the bedsheets were not changed at all, and the ventilation was poor, because it was not possible to really open the windows. This was not even the big issue. The bathtub leaked every time when we tried to shower. The bathroom doesn't have a lock which is annoying (there should be a lock at the door). When we had arrived in the hotel, we asked if we could have breakfast in the morning(and pay extra because it was not included in our package). The receptionist told us politely we could have breakfast (we were thinking we could pay after our stay). In the morning we came to the restaurant and when the waiter asked us what our room number was, we told her our number and she said you can go and eat. We were expecting we could pay afterwards, because she did not ask for any money. When we started eating, two ladies came up to us and told us LOUDLY we had not paid yet and kind of gave us the feeling like we were criminals. We tried to tell them we did not know we had to pay in advance, but they were still keeping a very hostile attitude. This felt very disrespectful, because we were given side eyes by other people eating there. It was not a good look. We agreed and paid. They could have asked this in a polite way. The day after we went down for the breakfast again and paid this time in advance at the reception, because we knew the ladies would get mad. However when we started eating one of the ladies came to me and asked me for a receipt. I told her I did not have the receipt, because the receptionist did not tell me I needed one and had not given me one. I told the waiter to ask the receptionist if we had paid and she was still very hostile towards me. I told her she was being very rude and should think about her customer service, but when I told her this, she got mad again. After this altercation, she went to the receptionist to ask if we had paid (it's a five second walk). After she had talked with the receptionist, she just walked like nothing had happened, giving us side eyes now and then. She did not even apologize herself for her behavior towards us. Don't get me wrong, I'm not mad, but this is not the customer service a hotel in London, UK should be providing.

This hotel has definitely been the worst Travelodge and hotel in general that I have ever stayed at. Staff in general are rude and unhelpful, seeming to lack basic manners and service skills. The room was inadequate at best - we stayed for five nights and not once during those fives nights was our bin emptied or anything else in the room changed or replenished. We did - after the second night - put out the sign asking for towels etc to be replenished but this never happened, with the sign mysteriously disappearing. As a result, we had to go to the reception desk to ask for more towels but were only given two towels, despite there being three of us. As well, we ran out of toilet roll on multiple occasions, being provided very little of that and having to ask reception once again for more. However, the most disappointing part of our stay at Travelodge London City Airport was the breakfast. We stayed here for the duration of Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, and so we expected the hotel to be busy and breakfast to be in high demand. In reality, there was seemingly no effort at all to stock up breakfast items at all, with the hot food in particular disappearing quickly and often not being replenished for the entire duration of breakfast that morning. With paying £14.99 per person, per day for breakfast it was severely underwhelming and disappointing - and as one staff member put it to us "embarrassing". Because of the complete shambles that was supposed to be the breakfast (they even ran out of milk and cereal somehow) I have written a complaint to Travelodge, requesting a refund for the breakfast. Overall, I would strongly dissuade anyone from even considering staying here, and would strongly urge you to consider other options, especially if breakfast is important to you, as you won't be getting any at this Travelodge.

One of the worst hotels we have stayed at! Our room was grotty and and worse than basic. In regards to the room there was no Aircon, the bed slats were broken, the material covering the bed frame was all ripped and hanging off, there were stains on the pillow cases, there was no duvet protector, the pillows were absolutely rock solid and the spares were also the same. We slept absolutely terrible! In a Premier Inn at least you get a choice of soft and firm pillows. We wouldn't have minded so much but it cost £90 per night which I certainly wouldn't call cheap! It all just looked so old and uncared for! The breakfast don't even bother! The eggs were like cardboard and the rest of it very dry. It wasn't too far a walk to the London City Airport DLR and the Pontoon Dock DLR but beware, if you choose to walk to the pontoon dock DO NOT walk through the path that goes to the left hand side of the Travelodge building! It is very dodgy and there were strange men in the bushes that line the path, they looked homeless to me but it felt very dangerous especially at night when walking back to the hotel. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to a woman on her own! Walk to the city airport DLR instead. Overall the reception area and bar/breakfast area looked modern and quite nice but that's clearly where they spent the money. The rooms however need a major update. It is far from what you see on the TV adverts! Don't waste your money... Stay in a premier Inn instead. They are usually much nicer!!

Room as expected standard chain hotel company hotel room, but cigarette burns on the carpet and windowsill, not their fault but really should be dealt with. Paid for late check out, they knocked at the door at 11am, told them I had paid for late check out, they then came back at 12pm asking us to leave again, again I said we had paid for late check out and the cleaning staff questioned us on this, which I had to show my receipt, which was pretty annoying £10 for getting disturbed more than once and a bit of attitude from cleaning staff, when we left the cleaning staff were in the corridor and stared at us leaving with clear attitude. Inexperienced staff left to run the bar and they really had no clue what they were doing, and then they said card payments wasn't working, appeared more that they just couldn't be bothered due to lack of training and used that as an excuse, as the till had been working just 10minutes prior. Shower was pretty decent. Generally ok-ish, but I wouldn't book again.

Inexperienced staff. Paid for extra's (late check out) which wasn't listened to. Till at bar apparently not working. Cigarette burns to room. Some friendly staff, but others with an attitude probably because they just wanted us out the room to clean up, but then what's the point in paying for extra's if you're going to be hassled by cleaning staff.

I stayed here with 2 friends during Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 for 2 nights. The room was decent with clean sheets and towels, standard TV and teas and coffees provided. Cleanliness was not an issue with no dirt, dust, or grime to be found. Sleeping at the hotel was fine, too, even near an airport and the DLR line. We even had the window open and still got a decent night's sleep. However, the breakfast was very underwealming with minimal choice and slow refills. I only went for breakfast on the first morning and left with a small plate of beans, egg, and some sad looking mushrooms washed down with watered-down juice. It was not worth the £14 a head. It is a shame that they were not prepared for a busy weekend as the hotel was rammed due to the convention being nearby. The service could do with an improvement with the front of house having minimal social skills and appear quite abrupt in their responses of breakfast and general enquiries. For the room price, it's not bad. The location is quite convenient for access to Excel. But I would personally get breakfast and dinner elsewhere.

It is a 5 minute walk from the nearest DLR station at Pontoon Deck. Very ideal for trips to the Excel.

I recently stayed at the travel lodge, and overall, it wasn't terrible but a few things to mention. The room itself was pretty clean but didn't have an iron & board which I had to collect from downstairs. (You'd think being next to the excel and expecting business customer this would be the norm, the front of house said this was only the case for floors 1 &4?...). Foodwise, I'd suggest getting an Uber eats and fully avoiding the kitchen. The chef was very nice, but I don't think he is aware of his inability to cook!.. Picture attached of the pizza I ordered, none of which the toppings stayed on and well ended up looking like beans on toast! Shame as the ingredients probably weren't that bad, just the execution. It also took just under an hour to get to me. The bar has clean taps at least and the young chap serving me there was very nice. Finally, the service overall was actually very pleasant, the only issue I found was that almost every member of staff asked you to give them a stellar review on trip advisor, even the lady that checked me in after having a conversation of about 30 seconds... Just felt cheap and cringe. Overall, for the price, it is not unreasonable, just a few things to note above.

I arrived in the evening; 2 days before Christmas 2023. The service reception staff person was the most unfriendly Travelodge representative. The poor dear struggled to even smile. No. Actually she didn’t smile. I have stayed in over 15 Travelodge hotels in London and was shocked by this person’s lack of hospitality. As Christmas is tomorrow I am graciously not posting her name here. Her customer service communication skills are inadequate. Usually the person greets you; asks if you have visited before. Ha! This lady was like, “your room is on the first floor. You can use the door to the right to access the room.” Wow it gets better. The room was not to my liking and to this individual’s credit, when I asked to change she graciously changed the room. However I showed her a photo of a large puddle of water in the elevator. She said Nothing. No , thank you for letting me know.” Stone faced like her communication skills. The new room was not properly cleaned. Two dirty cups and dirty spoons were left for me. Water was spilled on the desk. I wondered if this was some kind of crime scene. I suppose this is the hotel’s Christmas present. I politely brought the cups down to the reception( another lady assisted me). I gave the present to the lady. Some gifts should be returned. Dirty place!! Yuck

My boyfriend and I spent a few days at Travelodge Hotel. The room was super clean and very spacious. Nice big double bed, the bed was nice and comfortable. The shower is just perfect. We had breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked to perfect. My only complaint is we had to wait fifty minutes just for dinner, but it was worth the wait it was very good. It's not the best view. The only thing I could see was the road and bus stop. You can hear the plane take off, but after 7 pm, it is very peaceful

I felt very safe at the hotel.
Walkability
There is a bus stop across the road from the hotel. DLR is a 5 minute walk. London City Airport is a short distance from the hotel.
Food & drinks
Breakfast and dinner were very nice and worth the money. Breakfast is a buffet, so you can have as much as you want. There is a choice of full English breakfast, or you can have a choice off cereal. Croissants and jam are available too, and a good selection of hot drinks. There is a good variety of Alcohol available at a reasonable price and soft drink.

Dirty rooms. Took 1/2 hour to check in even though there was not a queue. Manager checked us in but asked do you need 4 beds which you booked as our rooms only have 3. Got into our room and had to wait for 4th bed to be brought from another room. The single bed in our room collapsed as soon as my son sat on the bed. Manager confirmed the bed was broken. Kids beds were side by side on the floor with 1 under the sideboard. Offered a night refund and free drinks. Never got these. Lost power to the room. Had to get ready in the dark. Power restored at later in the afternoon. Breakfast late 2 out of 3 days and ran out 3rd day had no food to serve at all. Still waiting for refunds. Manager refused to come onsite to deal with unhappy customers. Staff had to write down complaints which has never been dealt with. Restaurant had no food. Had to order take away. Customer service on email was no good. Not happy with their response of giving the site feedback!!!

AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS! VULTURES! I booked this hotel for 1 night so I was close to London City Airport for an early flight. I read the POOR customer reviews on the service of the front desk staff and other travels warning people to stay away. I figured how bad could it be? I found out when my mom passed away suddenly making it impossible for me to take my trip as planned. My room was non refundable, as were 3 flights and 1 other hotel on this same trip. I called Expedia to see if there was anything they could do on an exception basis under a compassionate or bereavement policy. All 3 airlines and the other hotel that held a 4 night non refundable reservation for a total of $1,900 said YES without hesitating. Travelodge London City Airport was the only one to say NO. A call to Wyndham head office customer care was a waste of time. They don’t even recognize this location as one of their properties and refused to lift a finger (thanks Aaron)!?!?!? Clearly the hotel and the head office that owns the Travelodge brand are fine being vultures who feed off grieving families. Keep the money! I will never stay with Travelodge or Wyndham ever again.

Truly aweful. I had booked my room at travelodge 20 days ago for 2 nights. My flight got cancelled, and so after an interesting struggle I manage to bring myself back to London. I arrived at the hotel at 04:00 am only to be greeted by the remark 'NOW you have come to check in?' I was like 'What' Arn't you suppose to say welcome to the travelodge or something (if anything). Anyway, then got told I had no room as i'm checking in late. Told the guy I have booked for 2 nights and then he found a room for me in the farthest corner of the hotel. Dirty all the way with some sort of bad damp smell (I have seen some other reviews with similar experiences, should have seen em before). There was no reception of mobile network so i could not access internet (I needed internet to go through my presentation for the next day at Excel). Came back to reception, got another room. Survived some part of the morning, went to the conference, booked another hotel (Premier INN next to it), checked out and moved out even though I had 1 more night stay. Didn't mind.. With travelodge, I found myself saying to myself 'There is always a first & the last time'

On arrival the reception staff were very friendly and gave me an airside room to observe the planes. On entering the room there was a fusty damp smell which quickly cleared by opening the window. A tad noisy with the window open but I did request airside view. The bathroom light did not work but as I was alone without children with a bit of care the shower was usable. After using the shower the bathroom flooded as the tray and curtain did not retain the water. The bathroom was then unusable unless wearing shoes. This at least accounted for the fusty damp smell as the carpet quickly became saturated. The kettle lid did not shut and boiling water cascaded out, very dangerous had children been in the room. The TV had no signal and did not work. One night was enough and will not stay here again. Well below the usual high standards I have found using Travelodge up and down the Country. My complaints were logged by the receptionist and I asked for an explanation from a senior manager as to why a dangerous room was deemed acceptable for use. I have received no response from the Hotel

I wanted to like this hotel more than I did, some of the staff were lovely, others dismissive and not interested. The rooms although 'refurbished' still look tired and dirty. We had an accessible room so that we had twin beds, these were still next to each other and couldn't be separated as there is a fixed bedside table either side of them. The shower was a wet room due to being accessible but the drain was so slow draining the water covered the floor almost up to the door (which we reported to reception). We didn't eat breakfast as we were put off by the way it looked and had a Costa at the train station both days instead. Obviously being right next to the airport we heard every plane overhead, I'm not sure I expected it to be SO loud, I expected at least a little soundproofing but that wasn't the case. Travelling here from London city airport was an unnerving walk as women walking alone at night time. Great value for money being in commutable distance to London but that is the only positive, I'm not sure I would stay here again.

ENG: Normal size room, bathroom with bathtub. On arrival (January 2023) it was cleaned, towels ready and clean. A kettle and instant coffee or tea were available in the room. The window is two-phase and has a safety device against falling. There is a restaurant (buffet) on the ground floor of the hotel, I think a breakfast menu for £14 - we didn't use that. We paid for internet for a few days at £3/day but at the hotel you find it's limited to two devices and it didn't work anyway. You will receive a card to enter the room, it is important not to have it with your phone or with other cards, otherwise it will be deactivated. Access to the Bank station from the DLR Pontoon Dock is approx. 40 minutes (from the hotel to the Pontoon Dock stop, it takes about 10 minutes), further to the center it takes around an hour. Buses also run from the hotel. The hotel is located close to the city airport, so expect some noise (flight traffic is from approx. 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.), but it didn't bother us and we were happy that we could watch the departures from the hotel.

Nice place a well worth for the money and quite and very close to the London city airport as well as there are close DLR stations also. Compare to the hotel room availability the dining area is bit small hence the breakfast time its bit crowded though staff manage it well so nothing to be worry. Worst hotel I've stayed in. As I got there someone was complaining to reception that their room hadn't been cleaned from previous night (it was around 8:30pm at this point). Room was cold as radiator was switched off at the wall, figured it out eventually but could have been told at reception. Room smelled of sweat. Shower was a wet room which flooded most of the floor after use and rendered bathroom unusable. A lady was kicking off in reception for about half hour and eventually police took her away. Food advertised as served until 10pm but was told at the bar (at 9:15) that it ended at 9pm, not given any real reason. Again could have been told at reception, and was told I could order takeaway but not given any options. Bed was booked as a double, but was two single beds pushed together with a big gap in the middle. Wasn't offered a receipt so tried calling today to get one (at 13p / min to make the call), nobody answered and was just told :"nobody could answer, goodbye". Never again.

We have been staying at this hotel for over 10 years. We bought a van full of stock thinking it would be safe in hotel car park which we paid for and has cameras, woke up to find it gone. Hotel had no idea. We had to wait for manager to come in to check CCTV and when the manager arrived, had no idea what happened. We stay there thinking we are safe, but now have to look out the window every 10 minutes to ensure everything we worked hard for doesnt easily get stolen. But we are told its not their problem. Very disappointed and we are writing this review to warn other customers. On a side note, keycards would stop working every day and would have to keep waiting at reception to get it refreshed. One of the rooms the electricity completely went and had to move all our stuff to another room, and despite putting sign out for fresh towels, tea etc, none of that was done.

Not one of the better Travelodge’s we’ve stayed at. Great location if you are flying from London city airport but it’s not ideally situated for anything else. There is literally nothing around it, not even a shop. 15-20 min walk before you even reach a station on foot. Phone signal is non existent which is crazy considering it’s London. Wifi is poor (30 mins free). Room was basic, bed was very uncomfortable. Mattress completely worn and requires replacement. Hardly any toilet paper in rooms and these aren’t replenished. Breakfast looked very unappetising, so like others have mentioned, we also used a Costa at the station. Staff were polite and helpful though. There is also NO air conditioning whatsoever in the rooms. It was warm when we stayed, but I imagine it would be absolutely stifling in the hot London summer heat. Thankfully we only stayed for one night but I wouldn’t use this particular Travelodge again.

  • Tyler Burgess

My room is fine and cosy and the reception staff are very friendly, but a couple of my colleagues rooms were in need of a refurb as they weren’t the same, with stain ridden furniture. I purchased Wi-Fi for 48hours and it said connected but “No Internet Connection”. The worst part by far is the food times. They said food was an hour wait but there were literally about 3 people in the restaurant. However, they did allow us to eat Deliveroo in the restaurant because of this, which was kind of them to do, as I know it’s against rules. (We did ask before ordering). Also upon arriving we did notice a couple cars had been broken into. That’s not the hotels fault but worth noting. Worth noting we were staying here as we were working in the nearby ExCel exhibition centre. If you want want to stay were for the airport it’s a really good location for both.

I always give a little leeway to Travelodge and others of the same ilk. It's budget and you know it. But that's not to say it isn't clean and the staff aren't great. Because both are true, very clean and the staff were super helpful. Very good links to buses, Elizabeth line and City airport. We had a window facing the airport and you can see the apron and runway, the planes whizz by but not too often and the double windows block out most noise. I would recommend this hotel.

All staff were friendly and helpful but I did not sleep because I suspect the mattress is memory foam and I never can sleep on it. The coffee in the room and downstairs is the worst I have ever had. The meal of steak pie, mash and peas was terrible. I enjoyed the mash but the peas were like bullets and I genuinely could not cut through the crust on top of the pie which I then found to have good gravy but hardly any meat. The pancakes were like leather and my spoon failed to cut through them. It is such a shame because there were new carpets since my last visit and the hotel is looking very good. It is also a shortish walk to the entrance to London City Airport. If it wasn't for the abysmal food and coffee and the bed, I would give the hotel five stars. To repeat, the staff could not be faulted. They were excellent.

Room was nice but I soon was fed up with the extremely poor WiFi that I had paid for. When checking in the clerk was not interested at all and clearly didn't want to work there. We had to hunt for our room as he told us absolutely nothing. We were lucky that it wasn't a hot day also because obviously opening the window by an airport would be noisy, but there is no air conditioning so it would be a very sleepless night if it was hot. The breakfast was awful, extremely poor. Nothing like the old breakfast's Travelodge did pre lockdown. We're two years out of lockdown but it seems they didn't get the memo.

Absolutely terrible experience, we had been told that it was a little noisy due to its proximity to the airport but the room we were put in was next door to people who never seemed to leave Thier room, they played cartoons on full blast so you could hear down the corridor, we could hear every word in our room. They had children who screamed and ran up and down the corridor banging on doors. I understand this isn't the hotels fault but when told they did nothing but explain the hotel was fully booked and we couldn't move rooms, they didn't offer to talk to them. On top of that the food ran out in the restaurant the first day and again at breakfast on the last day even though people had paid for it. Even the staff were commenting that the manager was useless and lazy. I have complained to Travelodge and had no response.

  • Alex C

The staff are warm, welcoming and the room was lovely that's where the positivity ends. Having a flight at 8am I needed to get a good night sleep. About 8:30pm I could hear a child who was either next door or above running up and down the room. No problem except that this makes the materials of the building vibrate causing a lot of noise. This happened twice so changed room on the second occassion at 9pm! You'd think this would be the end however the room I was given I was lying in bed when I could hear the room opposite. They kept going in and out of the door and I could hear them talking despite both theirs and my door being closed. There is a gap underneath the door and sound insulation is poor! Do not stay

Falling at the first hurdle! Upon arrival to check in, we was told our room we had booked wasn't available anymore, and they would sort us out with an alternative. It's not a good start when you have booked in advance! We were given complementary drinks because of this. However, the lady working behind the bar was also running the entire food service and clearly had too much on her shoulders. The rooms are standard hotel rooms, did the job for a weekend. The shampoo dispenser in the shower didn't work and didn't get fixed after mentioning it to reception! We did have the room on the front, and you can hear the planes at London City Airport. It's not a problem for us, but something to note.

that view though room was clean, hallways were clean, got a room with a bath (not specifically requested) and was put in a room with a double & single bed despite only booking for 1 person but oh well. could hear some sort of fan or generator outside my window, luckily was cold enough to close the window but i imagine that would be a problem during the warmer weather. fan and spare pillows available, plenty of towels and tea/coffee items too. tv did have two lines down the middle which wasn’t too much of a problem for me but could be for others. hotel itself is very close to a bus stop so travel was easy. overall pretty nice hotel.

Don’t stay here! The hotel itself is not bad. The rooms are a good size and the hotel is well connected. But… No air conditioning in the room and no fans available. The staff are nice but won’t do anything for you, maybe because the know they can’t. We stayed two nights. We asked to have our towels changed but nobody ever came into the room. We got back and the room was just as we left it. Nobody had been in, despite us leaving a sign saying, please change our towels. Nothing!! On our first night and morning, card payments could not be taken, so we had to go all the way to city airport to get cash. I would never stay here again. If you want a budget hotel, stay at the Premier Inn nearby.

Fantastic friendly reception staff. Perfect location for LCY - about a 15 minute walk from bedroom to terminal door. Room was a good size and the bed lines and towels clean but TV did not work at all and the shower/bath mixer was broken so a shower and bath was the only option and the shower pressure poor. Didn't complain as we arrived late and left very (very) early for a 7am flight. Overnight parking onsite was payable at the machine ( think it was £9 pn) but we left the car in the long stay airport car park for the duration of our holiday and walked to the hotel so we don't have to worry about dropping the car off the next morning.

Great hotel next to the airport, I could only occasionally hear plane/train noise. Booked an upgraded room, it was very clean and the bed was quite comfortable. A few things were a little dated, but when booking an airport hotel one isn't booking for luxury. Breakfast was good, buffet style with a range of options. Check-in and check-out was extremely easy. I would stay here again if flying into/out of London City Airport.

Check in was relatively painless. The room was clean, as was the bathroom. The service at breakfast was appalling. There were sufficient staff, however there attitude was one on not worrying. In spaces, the floor was covered in scrambled egg. We had to ask twice for cappuccinos, and were eventually told the machine was broken. We were finally given our drink as we left. The were items such as American Style pancakes missing off the buffet. When this was queried we were told to go to the buffet to look. It was the absolute no care attitude by the staff at the breakfast that has put us off visiting a Travel Lodge again, and purchasing a breakfast. The breakfast was not value for money.

Stayed for work purposes. In the 5 nights there were a number of occasions when they had a limited menu and service for food in the evening is extremely slow, when you’ve done a 13 hour shift and want to get to bed it’s not ideal. Staff were a mixed bunch, a few were friendly and helpful but the most encountered seemed like they didn’t want to be there. The room was pretty cold and noisy due to the vent in the bathroom, however the bed was clean. Every night I, and many others had to get keys reprogrammed. A few of my colleagues had quite a lot more issues and were there for longer, overall my stay was ok. Not somewhere I’d book as plenty of other alternative hotels close to ExCel

It's ok rooms are the worst but and bar prices, however rooms are not that great no plug sockets by the bed only have USB ports and if you have USB c the plug sockets are on the other side of the room which is annoying. Pillows are hard and super uncomfortable. Rooms do come with soap even though when our room was cleaned it was never refilled but it being super busy I don't want to blame them for forgetting something like that. Room key cards are awful you cant have a credit card or phone near it as it will break which is super stupid and a simple fix getting key cards like premier Inn or something else like a passcode you can use and resets each time a room is bought

Travelodge standard, cheap stay in decent location to both the airport and Central London. The rooms could do with Aircon, as they can get stuffy with closed windows. The noise the airport and trains generate may require closed windows. Airport shuts around 11pm and reopens flights around 8 am. The room was clean and the staff was very helpful and polite. Breakfast is standard English style. Surprised ham and cheese were missing. Easy access to DLR (Pontoon Dock) to take you to the city centre. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and I would stay again for the same bucks.

Conveniently located a short walk from London City Airport which has a DLR Station also if you're travelling elsewhere in London. The rooms have been recently recarpeted and repainted however there is much ventilation - the windows open though due to proximity to DLR and City Airport there's a significant amount of external noise. The bed creaked and the pillows seemed to retain heat. There was no fan provided despite the hot internal temperatures. Poor quality of sleep and poor quality hotel.

Service wasn't really good. The staff in itself wasn't the problem, but a lot of customers (including me) had a problem with the magnetic card (key). Each day, I needed to wait for the staff to reactivate the card. At 11pm, there was a queue to reactivate the card because none of us could enter our rooms. There is a bus stop located in front of the hotel, and the nearest tube is a 20-minute walk from the hotel. The room in itself was great, but I wouldn't recommend staying there for more than 1 night.

I usually don't post review but I think I should do a review here because I nearly did not book this hotel due to the bad reviews I read. Anyway the prices were too much of a different with the other around the area so we Thot we took a chance and boy it was a very very good decision. We did not experience anything bad at all and all was pleasant from room check in to help with the room and housekeeping and the room quality. Definitely would stay again!

We were truly taken aback by our discovery. Although our room initially appeared immaculate, but to our surprise we uncovered what appeared to be a bloodstain on our bed sheet and pillow after removing the duvet to sleep. Thankfully, the staff provided exceptional assistance and promptly relocated us to a different room. However, this experience significantly eroded our confidence in the thoroughness of the housekeeping process for bedroom items. We sincerely hope to avoid encountering such issues in the future.

Breakfast was shocking, my girlfriend didn’t even have a plate at one point. No food in the buffet section when I went up had to settle for just warm scabbed egg. Bedroom was ok, tv was in a rubbish position. Shower was great which was the best part of the hotel. I recommend using it when staying here. Don’t expect too much luxury here however it’s a ok hotel for a basic night sleep, however I don’t think it’s the best travelodge in the United Kingdom sadly which was disappointing for me and my girlfriend.

Rooms are good size, and the bathroom and showers are good. Service was good (however communication was less apparent due to the kitchen having an incident and was closed, but we were not notified and had to go to the nearby travel lodge 5 mins away (not a major issue, just something more of an inconvenience) Parking was £9 per day for guests instead of the £15. Location was 10 minute walk from city airport and the DLR tube which was good for using the tube in to the city centre.

Staff were nice but overall bad and uncomfortable. All weekend, desk staff were giving out keys to anybody who requested any room number’s key (without even asking the name of the room’s owner). I was constantly paranoid that anyone could have come into our room at anytime because of this. Also, carpet stains, plus room service refused to service the room during our stay (stayed 4 days but never got the bins or towels changed without having to call the front desk to do so, even though we had the Top Up sign on the door every day.)

  • Tori Brooker

Excellent find. Loads of parking at good fair pricing or free for disabled guests. The accessible rooms are on the lower ground which isn't my preferred option as a wheelchair user, however the staff went through extensive options and asked questions about the assistance required in an evacuation situation so I felt reassured.

To start we were given somebody else's room - embarrassing for all concerned. Eventually allocated another room. The room smelt of damp, and was dirty, the shower drain was blocked I suspect this was causing the damp problems. Bed was comfortable. Staff friendly. Toilet in public areas was unfit for use, disgusting, over flowing bins, floor covered in water and the extract has never been cleaned. So much for post covid cleanliness. We will never use Travelodge again.

Second time here and wish we hadn't bothered. Booked a superior room and couldn't tell the difference, had evening food, the pizza and curry were OK, even though they were not that hot but onion rings were too soggy to eat and garlic bread was way too strong. Breakfast wasn't much better. Some of the food hadn't been replenished, had to ask for more plates, no glasses for juice. There won't be a third time.

As with all Travelodges, the experience is very basic, but it does not pretend to be a premium hotel. The bed was comfortable and room was clean. Also surprisingly quiet despite being so close to London City Airport. For me this is too far out for a London holiday but it is the perfect location if you are flying. An easy 10 mins walk from the hotel to the airport.

The room was clean and relatively modern. Nice, simple breakfast in the morning. It's located right on the 473/474 bus with quick access to ExCel Centre and the Train station. The service was a mixed bag. Most of the stuff were nice but two of the front desk people were pretty cold and unhelpful. Unfortunately, a hotel is judged by the service and consistency and that's a big strike against The Travelodge London City Airport.

Very convenient location near London city airport. Room basic but pretty comfortable for a one-night stopover before an early flight. Only downside was we had issues with our room key. Having waited whilst their system rebooted we trekked to the end of a third floor corridor (carpets + wheelie suitcases = hard work) neither key worked. On reporting to the front desk we were given another room instead - not sure why they couldn’t reset the key. Overall, though, it was decent

The light in the bathroom did not work even after informing them three times, could not shower as if the door is open whilst showering the alarm would set off. The loo rolls are never replaced so have to collect from reception, very pleasant staff on reception and good triple (grubby) glazed windows kept the noise down.

Great if your going to fly from city airport imminently, otherwise avoid. a good 10/15 min walk from a underground station, phone reception is shocking here, wifi is free for a whole 30mins then they start charging, rooms are basic at best, serviced every 7 days and devoid of any colour.
