Parking to get here is a big problem. The line is extremely long if you go the first day after a holiday. I had to shout in a cramped room my questions because of how close everyone was together and because of hearing problems. When you go to ask questions that are not typical such as "where do I file pre trial motions to dismiss a case" or "how do I request discovery information" you have a good chance of encountering clerks that are angry at you for imposing on them such questions. These people messed up and sent me a civil assessment notice saying I did not pay the bail on my citation when I did and I had to go call to fix it. I would strongly recommend keeping all documentation and not losing it. I was misinformed by one of the clerks. I knew I had a right to a speedy trial. When I asked what is the soonest possible date I can have my trial she gave me a date that was many months away. I asked again to confirm. Apparently if you do not say the magic words and specifically state that you assert your right to a speedy trial the clerk will not grant you it. I was treated terribly when I lost my trial by written declaration. I wanted to get the testimony the officer presented in the written trial. The clerk said I needed to speak to police legal on the 5th floor. Police legal said I needed to either speak to the traffic clerks or another department. Eventually I went back to the traffic court clerks and they still told me to go back to police legal. I asked to speak to the supervisor and then when the supervisor showed up I asked to speak to her supervisor and she was not happy. Since I cannot get access to the police officer's declaration for all I know the commissioner stated I was guilty without any evidence by the officer which is in opposition to the legal principle of guilty until proven innocent. I will never no if that is what happened. I now believe the best course of action is to show up to court and ask to speak with the officer in private and respectfully request that you be able to plead down to blocking an intersection which carries no points and a less severe fine. Despite all of this I still give 2 stars as opposed to one because judge Chan was fair enough to dismiss cases whereby the officer's did not prove all the elements of their cases. For those of you interested in getting discovery such as the calibration records on radar guns or traffic surveys I would recommend speaking to police legal on the 5th floor which has no line. You may also be able to get access to an online copy of the Nolo book "fight your ticket & win in California" by calling up a law library and asking how to get online access to that particular book. I learned a lot from it and it has all the discovery forms and motions to dismiss for various causes.
So Im wrongfully pulled over and I wrongfully receive a ticket. No doubt I'm excercise my right to fight this. I waited for a notice to come in the mail with my court date but it never came so I appeard on the date that was on my ticket but It wasn't in the system and the court had no record as of that day. I was informed to check back every week for I year. I did just that. Every Monday I'd call and nothing. Then I was notified by mail that I had failed to appear and the total amount was referred to collections as well as 2 points on my record. You would think that if one could just have their day in court this could be dealt with and the judge would see I never got a chance to enter in a plea which itself is unjust not to mention the reason for me being there in the first place was.also unjust but each time I go to the clearks window I get the same sort.of response. They will not let me pursue this issue.im stopped at the clerks window.they say since its in collections there's nothing that can be done unless you want to hire an attorney. I.say I'll represent myself and they said sorry you can't do that. Where's the justice here?
Absolutely horrible! San Francisco is run by terrorists. I contested a ticket, but was not allowed to testify on my own behalf or present my evidence. Even the prosecuting officer agreed that my evidence was relevant to the case, but pro tem judge James Dye did not care. Dye violated my right to due process and my right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. He pronounced me guilty as I was still begging him to hear my case. This man should be disbarred and my case should be overturned. I asked for help in room 145 and a supervisor there said I was welcome to pay more money to file an appeal, but, no, there is no guarantee that my evidence will be inspected then or I will be allowed to testify then either. Do not let this man preside over your case if you have to go. The Judicial Review Commission can accept complaints for regular judges, but since temporary judges like Dye are not actually employed by the court they claim that all I can do is complain to the regular judge who should have heard the case in the first place.
Horrible experience. I would have taken care of my responsibilities of a ticket had their system been organized and update. I just had several hundred dollars withdrawn (unauthorized) from my account from the state of california. It was from a 2016 moving violation ticket. Despite calling them several times throughout 2016 and 2017 they had no record of the citation. No mail was ever sent to my address. I recently called them and they were unhelpful and had nothing on file still! How can I be a responsible human being when your system is incapable of allowing that? Now I am hit with the no show in court fees? Like hello, I have a family and other bills. Super disappointed how San Francisco has so many good resources but their government lacks the organization for civil compliance.
Disgusting power with no one to hold them accountable. Thieves with no heart just getting a paycheck for doing little to no work. This office needs to be internally investigated. This city is sick and overpopulated with unfamiliar faces. all the technology yet choosing to make life impossible unless you just pay . And even then you want as much as you can so you force most to file paperwork that says we need you the same court to help us afford it? I'm unfamiliar. You can't imagine me at your dinner table so I am treated like an enemy another eater another breather taking up your precious air.
We all know that any form of criminal litigation at the hall of Justice is going to be a long drawn out process. There will be a lot of people who are rude and disrespectful, however, deal with it because you are at their mercy for whatever law you are accused to have allegedly committed. Take care of business and leave your sob story and feelings at home.
Hey if you got here don't forget you have a loss of the opportunities to get out of here so please if you read this just try to find some solution in this place because they had lots of solutions even if you don't speak English they give you translator that's like that just ask the people before you go there or go there and ask the people what to do
"I am having an amazing experience, here with one of the most empathetic traffic clerks in the world, thank you!" I kept repeating this in my head even wrote this review to put this in the universe, but nah. clerks are not empathetic, otherwise they'd be flight attendants. Yeah I said it. sue me. I'm already here at the court.
I respect the law and was looking to pay a traffic ticket. We live in the most expensive city in the nation and they lack a payment plan process. The staff was extremely rude and they hung up on me mid conversation— after it took 30min. to get someone on the phone. Yikes. I think new staff is needed!
I needed to reach the court to pay a fix it ticket. Have tried to called the court multiple times, over multiple days and waited for over two hours before the system just hangs up on me. NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE AT THIS COURT… HOW IS THIS EVEN LEGAL??? If I could give negative stars I would.
Laziest staff on the planet earth! Every one needs to be fired and building has to be tear down to get rid of the spirit of that lazy staff. Hire new young polite and willing to work staff and it may change the whole attitude towards our lovely government!!!
I have recently dealt with the court representatives over the phone pertaining to jury duty. I spoke with two people, both of whom were extremely courteous and helpful. I'm quick to criticize, so I should be equally quick to compliment. Nice work!
They never pay me my money back and it's been over 3 month It’s the worst Court in the states and the worst stuff no respect no customer service The only thing they know about it is how to rip you offThey made me sick

Parking is horrible, we had to use uber to get there. The person at the window wasn’t so nice. Try to avoid this place if possible.
This place has taken hours away from my life that I will never get back... And all for the smallest and stupidest thing ever.
Nobody answered got hit with late no show fees for a court date I had no knowledge of just a scam for money
I went across a yellow light they still made pay a fine, I also had an unprofessional officer experience.
Would give zero if possible. Been waiting for a bail refund for a false traffic violation for 7 months.
