Thotrin Café is a hidden gem located in Kalina. It specializes in serving food of the Seven Sisters (Seven North Eastern States of India). I discovered this restaurant on Zomato while browsing and was very much convinced to order because they served North Eastern Cuisine and because they had amazing reviews. For a person like me who eats out approximately 225 days in a year, it is very rare that a restaurant scores 100% in each rating category. I usually compare, analyze the smallest details and then rate each dish and each restaurant I try. Thotrin Café has scored 100% in every single element in my rating. The food absolutely blew my mind, I was in a food coma and my soul was satisfied to the highest levels. The gravy was spicy to the perfect level, the pork was so tender and well cooked and escargo were a lot in quantity. I first removed the meat from all the Escargo and then ate this dish with homecooked rice. Believe me, this gravy and rice is a match made in heaven. The entire combination absolutely made me fall in love with the dish. I absolutely bow down to such level of cooking. This was one of the most amazing lunches of my life. Coming to the second dish, Manipuri Style Fish Gravy which I had saved for dinner and after getting blown out by the first dish, I stayed positive but expected less from the second dish. So I decided to eat this second dish also with home cooked rice and I was blown by the taste one more time. The fish was a lot in quantity, the gravy was an absolute mix of spices and various other elements. I actually loved Fish Curry more than Escargo & Hoksa dish. Thotrin Café has earned me as a customer for a lifetime after making my entire day so amazing with two amazing meals. I cannot find one point where they went wrong. Quite a small place with great North eastern food not easily found. Pretty light on the pocket. The place itself is a bit hole-in-the-wall. Has place for around 15-16 people to sit with a steep staircase to the first floor. It is very clean and maintained though. Will highly recommend this place for the food.

Really good food around the corner in Kalina. Small place with delicious food. Ordered Spicy Crab Meat Soup - creamy soup with crab meat and egg whites and diced spicy chilly. It's really very at the end. Crispy Chicken Rice - crispy chicken in a rice avatar. Doesn't contain much gravy to finish off with but it's good if you not a much of a gravy lover. Thou this is found on the Rice with gravy section doesn't do justice to its section. Mongolian Pot Rice (chicken) - Mongolian chicken with veggies , broccoli and plenty of mushrooms. One could serve 2 very easily with rice and gravy. Overall the place is cozy so no group plans. Good for a casual meal with Max 4 people. They also have some tradional North East offerings to try out.

Excellent food from the North East at affordable rates. There is not much seating space and do not expect service when you want to seat. However online delivery or self-deliveries (take out) are quick. Food quality and variety is good.

Amazing seafood and red meat available here. Ordered smoked pork, beef salad and prawns black bean. Really enjoyed the well cooked food with good quantity of meat and prawns pieces. Really recommend this place if you are a take away food person.

A northeastern treasure in the middle of Mumbai! The amazing northeast ambience took me to one of the cafes in Shillong. Tucked across St. Roque in Kalina this is a fantastic find for authentic northeast and chinese food. A small 6 table 4 seater each across 2 floors is a busy place whipping out the best of it's menu. And the amazing service by the host who is more than happy to answer all your questions is something that will make you want to come back.

It happened finally . Sometimes love comes in a small tiny packages yet everlasting. Thotrin cafe was somewhat like that. Small, cramped space , but , somehow the food takes over all your thought . May be the AC is not powerful but food is as strong as it should be . Noodle /rice gravy bowls are too die for and specially try their seafood stuffs which are equally passionate to their people who are working there . Really enjoyed the food .

One my favourite places to dine out. This small cafe pack a punch when it come to the quality and taste of food. The service is wonderful and the waiter is keen to explain the dishes. I would recommend you ask the waiter for the best meal courses as the menu consists of lots of dishes which are not regularly available in many restaurants. So don't losse out but sticking to what you know. Definitely try out new things.

This is a very special restaurant in Kalina. This place has some of the best and authentic North East food that could melt your taste buds. I tried Sinju, iromba and pork with bamboo shoot, all of them tasted great. If you're looking for authentic and delicious North East cuisine look no further.

I recently stayed at thotrin cafe , and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and the location was convenient. While the amenities were basic, the value for the price was reasonable. I would consider staying there again for a straightforward and comfortable stay.

Usually I don't give reviews anywhere, but this food was so HORRIBLE that I have to wright about this. I had ordered chicken in bamboo shoot this was the worst food item I have ever come across. Even the cook himself wouldn't dare to taste this food. Smells like gutter literally. It's shocking how dreadful this food was.

Thotrin Cafe is known for its authentic Thai and Chinise Food. I have been ordering from this place since 3 years now. But when i actually went at the restaurant the service was really bad. The waiter there told me, you have to give all order at once and he was quite Rude.

I had never tried any northeastern crusines and it was "awesome". The ambiance is not that good but how cares untill the food tests good. Recommend dishes would be; Escargo Hoksa Momo's Thupa soup And the ultimate hoksa with bamboo shoots.

A small cozy place in Kalina serving delicious North Eastern cuisine. Pork/Chicken Momos served here are to die for. Very economically priced. Staff is very friendly. If you're a pork fan do try their Pork curry with bamboo shoots.

I would recommend every food fanatic to atleast have a go at this place. Place is a bit cramp, but food quality and quantity mends up for it. It's simply one of the best chinese and northeastern food serving restaurant in Mumbai.

Amazing! My favourite here is the thukpa soup, the momos and the ngari chutney. I almost felt like I went back home. The food cooked is fresh and tasty. This place is a little hard to find but it is totally worth it.

My go to place for home food. They serve the best pork with bamboo shoot, and the closest to momos that taste authentic. Small, with a few tables and place is nearly always full, but the owners are nice and friendly.

Budget place with great taste... Although there is not much place to sit, but you can order and take away. Chicken Thupa, Chicken momos and Mongolian Pot rice is what I had ordered, and you can also try the same...

Tiny place serving incredible (and rare) North-East Indian fare. Pork Momos, Thukpa (soup), Pork with Bamboo Shoot, Sticky Rice and a special drink made of fermented banana. Yummm! Will be back for more.
