This was the worst experience my husband and I have ever had at a public bar/restaurant. There was a dog in the establishment and when we walked in the door, the dog went nuts barking at us, it lunged at us and we thought we may be attacked. Having been bitten by an uncontrolled dog once, my husband is very afraid of dogs. I love dogs, and while I don't think they belong in many places people bring them to, if you do bring them into a public place, they better be well behaved and not threaten to cause harm to others. We should have just turned around and walked out, but we stupidly stayed and had one drink each. During that time you would have thought that they would remove the misbehaved dog so it doesn't threaten anybody else. But no. Apparently that made too much sense. The dog did the exact same thing as we were leaving. Everybody that had anything to do with the situation kept apologizing, but your apologies don't do anything for my husband and if you didn't remove the dog, your apologies ring hollow. How do you have an animal such as this in a public place that you want to attract customers? The absurdly ironic part about the whole thing is that they have a sign on their door that reads "Well Behaved People Welcome!!" Apparently you just have to behave as a human. If they care so little about the comfort of their customers, I would think that you would be much better off going some other place that actually does value you as a customer.

The door guy literally yelled at me when I walked past him at the door. Yelled "HEY!" then accused me of ignoring him on purpose? I apologized, explained I hadn't seen him , and showed him my license, and he continued to accuse me of trying to sneak in. Like, why would I do that ? Really threw me off, and I would have left right away if i hadn't been there to see a friend. I would have given 1 star if it hadnt been for the absolutely charming bartender . I've been before, and she's always so sweet (btw when I was there before , I showed my ID at the bar; there was nobody at the door) . Too bad about the psycho at the door . Oh and the dog was cute.
I absolutely adore this place. The bartender is the sweetest person in the world! The service is super fast, and always excellent! There's a dartboard, plenty of pool tables, and a Golden Tee cabinet in case you want to play around with a group. There's also the dopest dang dog you'll ever see that's just chilling out and enjoying life. But I digress - I really love this place. I moved here from Sweden, and I've been absolutely enamored with this bar since a colleague showed it to me. A perfect example of a laid back, sociable, and fun American bar. Try their eponymous "The Spot Shot" while you're there :) (not for the faint of heart).
This ghetto fabulous bar is conveniently located directly across the street from Proper Burger... I say this because while The Spot does not serve food, you can order from Proper and bring your food into the bar. They have a classy digital jukebox, a few pool tables and a nice fire place out front for you to stay warm while smoking. One thing I will say about bar is that the booths are incredibly old and you will either sink straight down, or find yourself sitting ontop of a massive spring... Either way, not the most comfortable booth! Five stars for being pretty much dead on a Friday night and inexpensive!
Cozy and I must say that Jumper the bartender is welcoming to women that are solo which is comforting. They didn’t have my kind of tequila but she did recommend a great alternative. If you are a smoker you can not bring your drink outside but the bartender will kindly tend to your drink while you step out. I definitely recommend stopping by “The Spot” when you are in the heart of the city ❤️

There was a dog so I added a star for that. There were buckets everywhere to catch all the water from the leaking roof. The pool table is beige which helped me see all the hair from previous players. The bartender was not super friendly. We ordered PBR-I think. It was so flat it could have been water. I wanted to like this place. I love a good dive bar. But the bathroom smelled better than the rest of the place and that’s never a good thing.
Good spot for billiards and drinks. Crowd is a little conservative ever reminding me that I am in Utah... That’s okay though, I still got my buzz on with a couple of young professionals and all was good. Went on a Friday night and it wasn't busy. They have a small fire pit out front I learned is not a smoking area. Overall my experience calls for a solid 4 stars.
This is the best dive bar in town! Plenty of open pool tables, social people around you to make some friends, and the best bartenders. Could not be a better vibe after a long bike ride or ski day, this is "The Spot." Come in for a pitcher of beers, touch tunes, and a good game of pool and you'll find yourself here for hours.
Not too packed on the weekends. Owner and bar tender are rad people. Good bar dog that likes to play fetch with ice cubes. Owner and bar tender have an on going bet whether or not I'll ever bring the same girl in twice, where as I have a personal bet whether or not I'll die alone. First round of pool is free!
Great bar, good bartenders, fair prices (no regular food menu). great place to meet up with friends. Doesn't usually open till 4:30-5 though. Way nicer on the inside than the out, cleanest bathrooms of just about any bar in SLC. Come on down and have beer on me just tell them to put it on my tab- Tim.
The spot is eclectic, quirky, and an escape from reality. Not only is the floorplan (and whole building) interesting, but the people are interesting too. Every time you go there you'll see newcomers and regulars alike. The bartenders are nice, and the experience is one of a kind, every time.
Overall it's a great place for a small gathering of friends with pool tables and a foosball table and cheap alcohol. Would give a 5 but, last two times here the bartender shut it down at 1:45 and made us quit the game we had already paid for with only two points to go in foosball.
Super dive. If that's your thing. Sat at a table that literally had a hole in the ceiling above it with water dripping in. Weird smell permeates everything and every surface has an overall sticky feeling. It does have plenty of coin operated pool tables and lots of space to sit.
If you're looking to experience a 70s Western United States lounge bar with comfy vinyl stools and friendly down home service, this is The Spot. Multiple pool tables with a bowling alley smell, although no alleys. Bud draft and Chex Mix were a great combo. No attitude joint.
If you're looking for a bar that has good prices and a place to gather with your friends and feel like it's your bar than the Spot is for you. Across the street from Proper Burger and Tinwell it's a good idea to hit up the Spot first to get the night started!
The bar tender was awesome! She was friendly, knowledgeable & accommodating. She remembered us from the last time we were there. The place was clean & there were 4 pool tables available to use. A great little neighborhood place. We will return!!
Not so friendly joint. It was recommended to us because of a friendly bar lady called Jumper, instead we were greeted by a Shrek you refused to let us in. (UK driving licence) only pub in town that didn’t let us in all week. Draconian Pub. …
This place is great. Grumpy, who may be the owner or just some bum, is a true character, and Jumper is wonderful. Dot is the bouncer, so bring your ID. There is pool, music, and no matter when you go, the bartenders are a real treat.
Too bad the bouncer @ the door said they close at 11pm on a Saturday ok ill bite. Idk maybe. Stared too feel uncomfortable. This was My first time here I was super lost and the Bartender was the best made me a melon ball super good.
Bartender she is the sweetest I always tip every drink great pool tables great drinks fair prices want a nice bar with pool tables and good drinks chose this bar no food service but you can bring in food or get delivery try it out
Turned my fiance away bc she's not a US citizen. She has a legal US ID that they did not accept. Door man said to bring her passport.... unless he can read mandarin (chinese) ignorance train ur employees better

This was a really fun place to get some drinks after a play one night. The bar has a very 60s lounge feel. Pool tables and other games available and plenty of seating. The staff was friendly and service was prompt.
I've been here 3 or 4 times. Every time there are friendly people there to chat with. Jumper is a great bartender. I love this place because of the atmosphere and people. Its never been over crowded when I've gone.
Love a good fooseball table!!! This place was cool, though smelled a bit like pee inside. Maybe it's the carpet? Idk but had fun playing fooseball and pool nonetheless.

This place was good at one time but now it's a freaking joke!! Never busy and the redneck bartender with coveralls is POS!! Racists a-hole.. Never will come back!! The dog that roams the bar was friendly.
Always great people and service. It even caters to a great crowd that isn't overly saturated by any demographic. There id a great mix of people of all ages and backgrounds every weekend.
Atmosphere was cool, bartender sucked… you’ll know what I mean if you go, which I don’t recommend

Great service awesome food! You can either order in family friendly or have them take it over to there bar. They were really busy and still got us out our food quickly.
I'll never forget having a knife pulled on me when I refused to give it up my booth to the owner's son and his friends when I was there first. Real classy place. /s
So good. Love this bar; been coming here for years. super chill, locally owned. Cutest puppers ever who loves ice and has a new soft bed for her aging hips.
Love this bar, not great looking building from outside but when you walk in it's an awesome place. Frugal prices to play pool and a few great bartenders.
Good little spot to knock down some drinks and play some pool. Can have food delivered there. But dont sell it which a down fall. But good place overall
Jumper was amazing and by far the best bartender we have ever had. We had a blast. Great times, great company, and great bar!!
Sometimes it's nice to have a beer and relax in a bar that helps one say "Cheers". Quality pool tables, lovely bar tender.
Cool little bar but don't let them fool you with the hipster line .....we sell the second most pbr in the country.....

You just won't find a better bartender than Jumper or a better dive bar in SLC. A true gem.
They have five pool tables and it's only 75 cents a game. Nice bartender and outside patio
Rude bartenders. Tacky and Unfriendly. Go across the street to Proper for a better night.
I like the environment, the drinks, and the service is amazing! I will be back!
