Note the BEAR in the photos who has a half NY Jet - half NY Giant helmet, aka as the BI-Polar Bear. The Rail is also the home of the Howard Beach Polar Bears. Food is intermittent and was WINGS only during football, but see photo for Opening Thursday Nite football. Also located nearby a Great Deli (Sal's around the corner), Chinese Take-out (at the corner), and "Neighborhood Pizza" (yes that's the name) provide food at other times. Pints are $5, so if you get a LONG layover at JFK, buy a 10 TRIP AirTrain ticket ($25) which will get you and up to 4 other people out of the Airport and back in and save the difference between AirPort Bar pints ($9-$12) and The Rail Bar and Grill Pint $5.[DO THE MATH] Worthwhile.

I was with a group from out of town and we chose to go here. Its a small bar with a lot of regulars. Everyone was friendly and we spent about 2 hours just playing pool in the back. There's not a huge selection of food and they don't start serving it till 7. Mostly your typical bar food, chicken fingers, fries, onion rings, and wings. They make the empanadas from scratch and they are by far the best thing on the menu. The prices were very cheap and by far the smallest dinner bill we had.

I flew in from Australia, we got the sky train from the airport to here. Walked out and my friend said. Oh there is a pool table I said let’s go in. We orders a drink each. This place made amazing strong vodka drinks. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The pool table was pretty good. It was for free which was amazing. It was a Sunday so there was sandwiches on the house. Was a good night definitely can’t wait to go back :-)

Great cozy neighborhood bar.. The drink deal prices are fantastic,But, the grille was a giant gamble and slight disappointment. I mentioned slight, because, the patrons were allowed to order takeout I watched a great set by a local band the "Estactic Madmen"✌bright spot. All in all: A very nice atmosphere and a friendly aura...also public transportation is feet away!

No kitchen. Tastefully done on the inside. They only have 4 or 5 tap lines. Pretty much a local place. I was there at lunchtime on a Monday. Was very quiet but the barmaid Jackie was very nice. She also had a great selection of hot homemade foods she put out. They were good and free. Would definitely go back to see Jackie and enjoy not only her personality but also her food

I stopped in after a tiring day of train riding, on my way to an AIRBNB place in the neighborhood. The bartender since the patrons made me feel very welcome, me being a Military Vet. We had a very interesting discussion about submarines, me being a Submarine Sailor. I would definitely return because truly special people work there around patronize that bar.

I am glad that I had the chance to stop at The Rail. Sure, you can get a drink at the airport, but........well........ don't. Today I drank with a couple on their honeymoon from London. (I know, I had to ask. Howard Beach is a layover visit. The honeymoon is in Cancun.) Anyway, this is the place to stop and have a drink. Just behave yourself.

The only reason I left one was because that's the only way to leave a review. Unless you are a neighborhood gangster, do not go here. The barkeep gets angry at customers entering the bar. Don't ask for a beer and make him put down his paper. It's a horrible place and whenever you want to go here ... Just don't. Go to CJ's instead.

This was a highlight for my first trip to NYC! My husband and I kept seeing this bar from the subway station. Our last night in town we decided to check it out. Great atmosphere. Awesome bartenders. The guys made us newbie, out of towners feel very welcome. Wonderful experience.

Bartender made it clear this was a place for locals only. The bartender seemed irritated to have to stop reading his paper to serve drinks. Constantly swore under his breath until he saw that I noticed it.... Just go to C.J.'s

Great place for a quick drink before heading out to the airport. Honest prices with generous drink portions. You'll feel a welcoming local vibe when you walk in. Great place to settle any pre-flight nerves

I don't think just anyone should go to The Rail. I mean it's your right to. The Rail probably would agree. Just remember when you go, you remember you're in somebody's neighborhood. Thank you More

Just stopped in for a beer and was met by a friendly staff and great patrons. If you're between flights, ✈️ it's worth the journey although the Air Tran getting there and returning will cost you.

We came here as we had a long stop over for JFK. Boy I’m glad we did. Really nice bunch of guys. We got talking to the locals and the barman who recommended some great places to grab a bite

My favorite bar in the 5 Boros...right off the train from JFK and the A train in Howard Beach...perfect place between Brooklyn and Queens... awesome staff, cheap drinks, great Happy hour..

We were far too early for our flight from JFK so decided to spend a couple of hours in the Rail. Lovely pub, very reasonable and friendly staff and punters.

Very comfortable place the bartender rich is a great guy he's good with people it's a family place with good friends and everybody and the drinks are great

Very laid back spot, just a few steps from the train. I needed to pee really bad travelling all the way from the bronx , so I peed in exchange for a Sam.
