Phase one of renovations complete. Staff are welcoming and attentive, love that you get service with a smile. The set up, the building is unique and such a beautiful historic theatre, very aesthetically pleasing if you are into art deco and classic style. Just Beautiful The theater and sound system are fine, there is ample space between rows of seats, but i welcome the next phase of renovation to install better and/or more comfortable reclining seats. The candy bar and drinks, dining area are small but offers enough refreshments and light meals to cocktails and non alcoholic beverages. Great Hot coffee, the bar and food options are good and price reasonable. Food and drinks can be ordered and delivered to your seats if your movie starts. Also good to know the diner & bar is open to customers that are not viewing a movie, also runs events and available for bookings. Toilets nice and clean. Accessibility lifts are available. The Wallis membership price is not yet active at the Piccadilly so was not able to use discounted member price here.

Went last night to watch Oppenheimer. Firstly had to wait 15-20 minutes in line to get a ticket and sort out food and drinks; nearly missed the start of the film. Outside of the foyer experience, the sound mixing in the cinema itself was quite poor. This was the third time I had seen the film so I knew what to expect, however, the cinema had the music jarringly loud to the point that it felt like an action movie. This issue did not exist when I watched on two seperate occasions at two different cinemas.

We highly recommend going to see a movie, meeting friends at the bar or enjoying an event at The Piccadilly aka The Grand Old Lady. The newly refurbished candy bar and bar give you that sense of nostalgia as you enter. Superbly designed by IA Designed and built by PBS, they have done an incredible job. Currently working on the documentary of the cinema, I know how much this iconic building is loved by so many. I am looking forward to so many people sharing the magic of movies and making new memories.

Love this cinema. Such a beautiful historic theatre in art deco style (this cinema was opened in 1940). Great area with tables to sit and have something to eat or drink before your movie. Great coffee, the bar and food options are good and the prices are reasonable. They also run special event screenings which are great fun. Recently went for the Barbie movie premier (girls night)- tickets $26 included glass of bubbly/soft drink popcorn and fruchocs. Was a great night. Toilets nice and clean.

Love this old style cinema and the cheap ticket prices! Nice location, bit tricky for parking though during mealtime hours. Been here often as I like how quiet it is too. During my most recent visit I realised there are no lifts to get up the stairs after purchasing my client's ticket for a movie showing upstairs. I was able to change tickets for a movie showing downstairs. This will continue to be my " go to" cinema just not with anyone who can't climb stairs.

Awesome movie. I seriously cried but it was something people go through in life and thank God we have someone to lean on when we fight through battles . As far as the cinema goes, it's nice and cosy although it does need a little refurbishment it's not too bad. I could bearly climb upstairs 3 flights, struggled but got there eventually. Airconditioning was at its right level. Friendly staff. Thank you 107.9 life for presentation to this beautiful movie

A lovely little theatre that's been recently renovated. There's a lovely little bar there, and they can even deliver food to your seat in the cinema(great when you're only just in time to see the movie). The seats unfortunately weren't so comfy, and rather small. The staff there were all very nice and friendly, and so helpful too. The food (wedges) were very nice, it was great to eat hot food and sip on a gin and tonic while watching the movie.

  • Amy Skewes

Place was dirty, some type of liquid all over the floor in the seats. The OSHC people just sat the kids wherever, in our seats. No organisation, candy bar was a long line up and chaos. Have someone dedicated to organising the large bookings and put them in a set section that the public can't book. Cinemas and seats are outdated yet they charge the same price for adults and more for childrenas than other cinemas.

  • Robert Bone

Kind of an old school place to see movies in North Adelaide, the decor is getting a bit old but the important part is the cinemas are comfy and have decent sound setups. 3d and 2d movies both available and with allocated seating. Appears to have conference areas available too. Give the place a call if you need more info, they were lovely on the phone when I called to book tickets I couldn't find online.

  • Sandra Macgregor

The renovations at the Picadilly look wonderful. The bar and dining area are very classy looking. It is a great place to grab a drink and interesting snack meals. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was yummy and well priced. Entry to cinema 3 was easy for my friend who uses a walker. It was a fun day out, I will be back soon. The Lego Christmas display was great and very festive.

  • Zac Miller

Retro cinema with beautiful building structures, can be improve in customer service elements by staff working at front counter for being more friendly and welcoming customers, probably replace the "school information" board in the middle lobby with more nice and modern movie advertising board. But by saying this i had a great time with my husband

  • BangDroid

If you like the modern cinema experience this place probably isn't for you. It's an historic place and certainly has its own personality. Probably perfect for a romantic movie, but not so much big screen action or scifi. Seats are uncomfortable after an hour. Last visit there was an annoying rattling broken speaker. There quite affordable however.

  • Tim Helps

A beautiful original Art Deco cinema that is an Adelaide landmark. The cinema may be an old building but its has good sound and projection. Seats are comfortable, staff are pleasant and helpful regarding discounts that you may be eligible for. Parking may require you to make a short 5 or 10 minute walk but can be found free around the area.

  • Dino Willox

Wonderful art deco independent cinema. I've read some of the other (mean spirited) reviews, and can confirm that the sound quality is fine (unless you are an audiophile), and the seats are fine (unless you expect a reclining sofa)! Enjoy the beautiful ambience and magical surroundings of an art deco theatre, and stop being so grumpy! ❤️

  • Claire Page

The Piccadilly is looking great after the upgrade. It is fantastic they have kept the Art Deco feel to the theatre. They have added lifts for increased accessibility. They are kind of complicated to use but at least they have made the effort. The seats are not that wide so are a bit uncomfortable for those of us who are a bit bigger.

  • danny spali

Dont go into cinema 2 or 3 as 1) Sound is flat no surround sound unless maybe you are in front few rows as no speakers at back. 2) Light stays on at entrance which is really annoying if seated near the back and worst of all 3) It is not soundproof..could hear noise from the foyer and movie next door..really could not enjoy the movie

  • Denise Edwards

Seated upstairs and unable to climb over 100 stairs. They were busy" girls nite out" so had to wait til everyone seated not a problem then unable to get. refund because movie starting. Usher excellent. front of house on arrival pathetic at best staff after movie awesome would I go to Wallis Piccadilly with 10 friends again no. NEVER

  • Vilia “The nymph of the woods.”

Newly reopened after a great revamp. Downstairs has been re-configured to a pleasant bar and lounge area offering cocktails and food. One entrance has no steps and doors that automatically open for patrons. Two lifts have been installed to access the various cinemas. The bathrooms also have had a great makeover. Well done Wallis!

  • Adoni Fotopoulos

Possibly one of Australia's best cinemas! The elegant grandeur of the building alone gives you a sense of occasion and in the spacious foyers you can sense the excitement inspired by movies past and present. Friendly faces greet you and you're embraced by the curves of the art deco style and warmed by its soft lighting.

  • Bob Elliott

This is an older style cinema. It is majestic when you walk in from the roadway. Seats inside the cinema upstairs are the old style seats. Saw, a star is born. Movie was very good. If you are after reclining seats picadilly cinema upstairs is not the place for you. The cinema brought back happy memories from the 1970's

  • Boti Nagy

Quaint old cinema converted into a multi, I love its links to a grand past and fun weirdness like the ghost that inhabits the upstairs men's toilet. You can't get that just anywhere! The big main upstairs cinema is a trip back in time. You're stepping into a different era here and a good one.

  • Marie Ylikotila

Lovely Cinemas, a real lovely old Movie Theatre, the only downfall if your Movie you want to is upstairs & you have problems climbing stair, you just have battle the stairs as there is no lift to upstairs. So anyone in wheelchair or using a walking will have watch a movie downstairs instead.

  • Tania

A rare find in North Adelaide a special little movie theatre refurbished Greta Garbo Clark Gable style with comfortable seating and a selection of premovie snacks cocktails . Comfortable seating and a lift for those needing extra assistance. Very kind staff. Great experience.

  • Joel Savage

You can buy cider and beer at the snack Bar. Recently they have lowered ticket prices or raised them to across the board to a flat $14. It is better to walk in than find a car park. The staff are helpful and cheerful. If you want to see a movie in North Adelaide this is more than adequate.

  • L G

Just experienced the newly renovated theatre. As we were leaving we saw the beautiful bar and went inside for a coffee. It was a pleasure to be served by Dylan and to experience the comfy bar stools and hidden hooks to hang our bags under the bar. So well designed and gorgeous decor.

  • Bob Elliot

Cinema 3 is small and cosy. Seats were comfortable and the geadiant of the flooring was excellent so the screen was not obstructed by the person sitting in front of you. I saw Bohemian Rhapsody. It was an excellent story about Queen. This is one film i am going back to see

  • Scotty pojke

A different world from the modern cinemas of today. Retains its charm with the old furnishings, looks the same as when I used to come as a child. But inside the cinema screen, sound, and chairs are all modern and updated. At least the prices are still good value as well.

  • David Thornley

Love the renovation of this old favourite. Saw Avatar: Way of the water. Great movie, but be warned, plan your liquid intake, or take the way of the water challenge... can you wait till the end of the movie? Go and enjoy, The Picadilly, this retro modern classic!

  • Kristin Pastars

Very friendly staff, clean cinema and toilets close by, has a small lift if you can't walk upstairs, but arm rests are too short, the drink holder is too close and you had to rest your arms over the drink holder with your wrists hanging over, not comfortable

  • Patricia Emms

Fantastic timeless Picture theatre! Full of character and charm Comfortable seating and great sound! We enjoy going to the movies here, easy parking and dining in North Adelaide main strip for meal afterwards.Go treat yourselves, you wont be disappointed !

  • daniel melville

Popcorn kernels aren’t expensive. Cook a fresh batch ready for each film so the popcorn isn’t stone cold, even if it’s the last session Disappointing Also would not recommend sitting in the front half of the cinema 3 unless you want a very sore neck

  • Jenn J

The staff are friendly, affordableticket pices and love the look of the cinema/the character it has however the seats in the cinema are not very comfortable, definitely need an upgrade in seats compared to reading cinemas and event cinemas

  • Jehan Hoossen

Not the newest and most advanced cinema. That said, it has amazing old school looks and the staff are friendly! Prices are a bit more expensive than the big chains, I think it's important to keep our older and unique cinema's in operation.

  • Sylvo Mate

Quaint small cinema. A little bit more expensive but you pay for the atmosphere. Cute place for a date. It's like stepping back in time. In saying that the chairs are pretty old school. You can enjoy a nice glass of Shiraz with your movie.

  • Alison Offler

You've just renovated the place and decided to put in the most uncomfortable pull down plastic seats. Good luck getting people to return to that. The Piccadilly should be synonymous with opulence and now it's not. What a disappointment.

  • Kendelle King

This is a great little cinema. The decor is great and the seats are surprisingly comfortable. The main issue is finding parking but I've never had a bad movie experience here. Some of the candy bar items do not have pricing displayed.

  • Mushroom 68

My family attends this cinema all the time as first choice. The staff are friendly and fun. The art deco building is gorgeous and I can sit comfortably in a lounge chair and have a coffee while my children go into the children shows.

  • Jenni Milo

Updated interior. Snack bar still has choc tops. The seats are good but nothing like some of the new cinemas with reclining seats or tray tables. But great classic building still. Really love this place. Staff were really friendly.

  • andrew gurney

No one answers the phone!!! Why do you even have it if it is left off the hook all the time, when ever I ring I get an engaged signal. WTF??? Oh well, there are plenty of other cinema's that pick up phones to answer enquiries.....

  • Bambie Killer

The popcorn tastes like mold and it's dated the chairs are uncomfortable and it's over prices large popcorn is the size of a small not that I could eat it anyway do yourself a favour and goto Elizabeth cinema way better

  • Caleb Glass

Love this place. It has a really nice old traditional feeling. Sound and screen quality is good. The ticket prices are now $12 (Nov 2017) All good. Parking in North Adelaide can be a pain. Double check the signage!

  • Tiff Pearce

I love seeing movies here! The place still looks its original era, which I totally love! The staircase is amazing! Don't ever change it! The seats are heaps comfy too! I always choose this place 1st to see a movie!

  • Peter T

Great to see that this cinema is still operating. My mum took me along to see my very first movie here back in 1969, '101 Dalmations' please keep supporting this cinema and many others like this across Australia.

  • Liz_travels_theworld

Love the decor of this place. If only there were many theatres left like it! Lovely staff, reasonable prices for movies and the food. The sound system could do with an upgrade, but it wont stop me going back

  • Jackie Noble

A lovely old cinema complex. 3 cinemas with comfortable seating. Be aware one is located up a good flight of stairs with no lift option. Plenty of restaurants in the vicinity to make a night out enjoyable.

  • Ruth Day

The work that has been done to renovate this grand art deco structure is amazing. The bar area looks beautiful and we'll be returning with a group for a lunch catchup and a wander through the public areas

  • Lyndal Bailey

Great old movie theatre playing box office films. When we went it was quiet and you could select your own seating. Excellent quality screen and sound, snack bar and toilets, on street parking available.

  • Daniel Bambrick

A beautiful cinema, old school design but a real experience inside The seating is comfortable and spacious and the food and drink (as expensive as it is) is not bad Great for groups or just a cute date

  • Mike Smith

Lovely old cinema with disability access to one of the ground floor cinemas. A little tight but a standard wheelchair or electric one fits just fine. Seating position is not too far from the screen.

  • Cecilia Littlewood

It was great to come to the Picadilly and experience the beautiful theatre. COVID safety was followed and the theatre felt very safe! First time back in a theatre since start of COVID.. Excellent.

  • Timothy Hickman

Old world charm with modern sound, comfortable seating great choice of movies, with a good choice of snacks, no more to ask for. Give it a go and support the drivein before they build over it.

  • Poppy Drake

Love this cinema! It is so authentic and artistic. Food and drinks are a little pricey, but thats pretty average for a cinema. Lovely customer service and good suggestions to what to watch!

  • Diana Mathew

I like Piccadilly. I don't get why Cinemas keep putting up the prices though when they're empty. It's too expensive for a family day out these days. Piccadilly is cheaper than most though.

  • Nathan Conolan

If you love old buildings like me and a clean cinema this is the place! Beautiful art deco styling everywhere still. It's clean and the cinema is as good as any. Will be coming back!

  • Vanessa Locke

A relaxing older style cinema -- comfortable with all the amenities needed. Easy on street parking with many restaurants for a pre film meal or coffee. No hype and reasonably priced.

  • Robert Ardill

Real character and traditional service. Step inside and you'll feel like you've stepped back to the 60's. Clean, fast friendly service, otherwise the same experience as other chains.

  • Vanessa Hondetta

The Art Deco building is amazing just waiting for the move to begin was an experience in its self really lovely, also could complain about the service or the movie quality. Very nice

  • Valerie

Love watching movies here but the popcorn could be way better and you NEED frozen coke. This place may give off old school vibes but at least improve the candy bar = more revenue

  • Jasmin Turner

Wonderful atmosphere. Great choice of snacks , clean. Fabulous bathrooms, Comfortable Chairs. Enjoyed the movie. Spent many family days here with my children and parents

  • Joel Graham

The Piccadilly cinema is wonderfully enchanting place with an art deco aesthetic. Very affordable and the staff are kind and helpful. It's not just a cinema, it's an experience!

  • andrew kidman

Beautiful theatre, friendly staff but movie spoilt by faulty or no air conditioning on a hot day- I complained to staff but they said sorry but there is cold water in the Bar.

  • Geoff Holds

The refurbished Piccadilly is first class. A rejuvenation that has maintained all of the charm of this wonderful cinema. Looking forward to the next movie we see there.

  • Brian Neely

Beautiful art deco ambience set in a great part of North Adelaide. Easy parking (Sunday) with plenty of amenities to make the trip worthwhile. The staff are great too!

  • Kim Garin

What possible reason could there be to alter this magnificent theatre. Define “bar, functions, festivals”. What’s wrong with just being somewhere to go to see a movie?

  • nopplskills

Not the most state of the art place but it feels homely. It feels old but they have been maintaining it well. The staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

  • Karen Miller

Wine & a movie in a place that has so much atmosphere, who could ask for more. Great place for a quiet coffee or wine with friends. My go to movie place. Every time!

  • Rick Galbraith

This is a nice cinema and they have a menu for some hot snacky foods, little on the expensive side much like most cinemas but nice decor all the same. Check it out!

  • Robert Schmitz

North Adelaide's iconic cinema is still a favourite place to enjoy movies. . Love the old stair case inside. . The old world charm makes it a cosy welcome cinema.

  • Matthew Hubbard

Amazing architecture in this historic cinema. However, the sound system is outdated. If you want to be immersed in the experience, this is not the cinema for you.

  • Susannah

Never too crowded. Free parking on the streets nearby. The architecture has a lot of charm, and the service is always good. Show your RAA card for $11 tickets.

  • Bike Kings

I had amazing customer service. Julia, Bec and Maddie were so accommodating and provided the upmost professional and best customer services I will be back!!!

Love coming here. Comfortable cinemas and great service. And I can use my raa members card to get a discount tickets! What more could you ask for.

  • Jennifer Barry

The bigger cinema's sound quality was way too low during Avengers: Endgame. It felt like I could hear people shifting in their seats a row away.

  • TF Bonny

One of the oldest theatres in Adelaide. Sound system and facilities are not the greatest but location wise its a good spot as very close to city

  • Aleisha Treloar

Great cinema, licensed bar, central location. Not licensed to take alcohol in to cinema. The girls night out sessions are always good fun here!

  • The Sunarwotos

Quiet, comfy, easy to reach from city. The best cinema in Adelaide if you want to have a private and romantic movie time with someone you love

Old school place where everyone should go at least once to see a great flick in nostalgic surrounds. But what do i know? Adelaide Institution

  • Imants Sealions

Lovely old cinema. Make sure if you have walking difficulties that the movie isn’t upstairs as there are many flights. Chairs are comfy.

I have been going to the picadilly for 60 years and I am happy it has survived. Great place to watch film and one can always find a park
