If I could give zero stars I would. The receptionists are INCREDIBLY RUDE!! I was on hold for over an hour which carried over till after the surgery closed (I had called well before closing) the woman who picked up didn’t even greet me and just said the surgery is closed and she’s only answering because the phone keeps ringing and that what I wanted has to be an emergency. When I told her I had be on hold for an hour she insisted that everything was shutdown and that I was inconveniencing her because she had to log back in to answer my question. She then proceeded to talk over me as I was asking my question and pretended like she didn’t know/understand what I was talking about. I understand that she answered after closing but the level of professionalism wasn’t there and her attitude and the attitude of all the receptionists (as they all behave like this REGULARLY) is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Before you even get to the menu section when you call it’s mentioned that abuse towards staff won’t be tolerated but what about the way in which the staff speaks to patients. And they wonder why they have less than 3 stars on here, DO BETTER!!
I've been a patient with The Old Courthouse Surgery for many years now and find most of the doctors very helpful and caring but the reception staff let the surgery down. I have been disabled ( in a wheelchair) for 40 years now, so I would assume that they understand my position although everytime I telephone the surgery I find myself constantly explaining my position (that I am disabled and can only see the doctors on the ground floor and that my carers have to take in urine samples for me. The receptionist are all rude and irresponsible. Chatting constantly on the telephone whilst ignoring a queue of patients. They constantly lose my urine samples, so these have to be repeated again and again! When I telephone them for the result they tell me that I am on the right antibiotics, although I am not taking any antibiotics at the time. They are so rude and disorganised and I find that I am constantly chasing them up for my urine results and prescription queries. Honestly, I have never experienced such chaos in my entire life. It's the receptionist that let the surgery down. If you are new to the area, my advice is to find another GP'S practice.
I dont understand why I always have issues with the reception staff at this surgery. I went today to pick up my partner blood tests as they were send to him on his mobile where obviously u need print out with stickers. Secondly I asked her to cancel my appointment and reschedule. She literally refused and told me to call. I said I am here I want to do it here as I dont want to block line and there is no point as I am already there!!! They dont allow that apparently which is totally out of order. What if there is vulnerable or elderly patient will you also turn them down! Disgrace. Receptionist was so rude to me when I said I will compalin and she said"I dont care, you can complain"! And run off to the back office. She has no manners and no sense of care for the patient. Why would I call if I am there it does not take long to actually help patient. This is absolutely ridiculous. Reception team at this surgery is very bad. They dont know what they doing, do not action things properly. I am very upset and disappointed with this incident. This girl should learn what good customer service is!
For the first time in over 40years I am absolutely disgusted with the way that I have been treated by the surgery members of staff. I broke my fingers and hand in Essex on 14th November 2022 and have been to the surgery 4times and each time I have been told that they do not deal with fracture or referral cases and that I should go to Finchley memorial (same answers).Barnet General Fracture clinic, same answers. Not once was I seen by a medical professional. I just hope and pray that when I eventually have the cast removed, that there is no deformity to my hand because of the lack of neglect by this surgery and other establishments of whom have a duty of care,as does the whole of the NHS. My apologies for sounding harsh, but surely being put through unessessary pain and anxiety I have the right to be seen and treated by a professional practitioner.
Been a member of this practice since 1998 and the doctors have all been great and have had empathy in all the years I’ve been here. However the reception staff are rude and have zero empathy, either in person or over the phone. Saw staff members rolling their eyes at an elderly gentleman as he didnt hear her, and over the phone when describing an issue with my baby son, was basically met with sarcasm, rudeness and total unprofessionalism. I thought they had a handle on this as the practice did seem to improve as this problem has been prevalent for years with people complaining , but clearly there is a real problem here’s dm sadly nothing is changing. Staff need training in being empathetic and sympathetic, and to learn basic manners. They are a massive discredit to the doctors here.
Today, I visited the surgery after a very long time to get the gp/doctor to fill in a form regarding a job application. One of the receptionists was very rude and unprofessional. She asked me personal questions in front of the public and she mentioned some of my personal details in front of everyone within the surgery which I found it very unprofessional as my details are confidential. This really upset me. I did mention to her about the situation but instead of apologising she mentioned that I should have wrote a letter instead of attending the gp. She didn’t help at all. She was very rude, and I believe that staff like her who breach the laws and regulations should not be working at such environments where mostly vulnerable patients visit who are in need of support.
I’ve been using this doctors for over 20 years and I can not speak lower of it. Let’s just say the so called receptionists are the most unhelpful ones I have ever come across. Most of them are rude and challenge what you are telling them in confidence. Before Covid you’d be waiting for at least an hour after your appointment time to be seen, anything before was a bonus! When you finally make it in to see someone it is a shame because the few doctors and one nurse I have seen are brilliant, it’s let down by the experience of trying to get in there which makes you feel awful and fed up before you’ve even got into your appointment. An absolute shambles and I cannot wait to find another gp.
The frond girls at the reception are horrible and rude, they are always at the back and when you ring the bell for them to come out it takes ages, as soon as you ask them something they answer and then they leave the roo. So I had to ring the bell again for them to come out, that happened 3 times, I had to ring the bell and they could see that I was there . Horrible experience I felt I was on a timer I had to speak in 2 sec cause the time was running out! And it wasn't a busy day, it was very quiet and there were 3 of them inside and no one outside! I hope I won't need to speak to them again any time soon.
The Doctors and the nurses are usually helpful. The morning emergency appointment system is helpful too but they should not force the patients to book the appointment with nurse rather then with a doctor. The negative points about the surgery are the referral system which is not always smooth and you have to follow it up all the time and make several appointments even if the referral is agreed on first visit. The other issue is that you never see someone at reception although there is a bill to call but the receptionists always take long time to appear and when they appear they are mostly looking upset.
The absolute worst GP practice in Barnet and possibly London. Today was the last straw and I am reporting them to the ombudsman and the CQC for not sending the prescription for my FIVE YEAR OLD to the pharmacy as promised by Dr Farooqi after we saw him today. From giving incorrect prescriptions (my husband), to completely disregarding my postpartum hypertension, the nurse practically stabbing my daughter in the arm when administering a jab, and the total nonchalance when I attempt to follow up (which I always have to do as their operations are in shambles). I have had more than enough over 7 years.
I am giving 2 stars just because of the doctors. But the admin people, especially the manager, is very rude. They can argue with you 15 minutes for the thing that can be done in 5 minutes. I needed a email reply to the council but she simply refused to pass it to a doctor. Finally, they did it as I begged the council people to send a second email with a strict instruction to do so and but it took almost 2 months as the council would not do usually, second time.I should thank the doctor and a young lady who were atleast ready to listen to me and get the things done finally.
Aside from late running clinics on Mondays and Fridays (which I think you'd probably find at most practices on those days), the doctors here are warm, caring, and give you the time you need despite the pressures they are under to see as many patients as possible. It can be hard to get through on the phone but I've never had to wait too long for an appointment once I've got through, and when I've required a doctor call-back they've always been timely. Given the location of this surgery and the number of both young and elderly in the area, I think they do a remarkable job.
The lady at the reception is very rude. We are waiting for the nhs number for my wife since couple of weeks. Today in the morning we got a email from nhs that she has already been registered to another gp( but we never registered to any gp before. It’s for the first time ). Also they mentioned in email that for again access to the account you need confirm the identity but she was not ready to listen. She just raised her hands say that we can not do anything here. You need to wait. Worst service from the lady at reception
Cannot comment on the Medical prowess of the Surgery and don't even know if I have been allotted a GP or if it's simply a "turn up and see" type of experience. That saId, their administration is shambolic beyond belief and, frankly, is enough to make me look for an alternative in Barnet. Careful examination of their website will show a huge reluctance to provide links to anyone in a degree of authority or even a formal complaints procedure - almost as if they know their mailboxes would be in danger of filling up...
I shouldnt even give them one star. This place is a shambles. Every time I need something from them they manage to mess it up. Despite the fact they are 'closed for admin' on wednesday afternoons, I don't know what they are doing in this time. I was without important medication for DAYS and when I rang to explain how upset I was about this the man didnt even apologise and seemed shocked when I said I expected him to show some remorse for what had happened to me. Don't go here unless you want a shoddy experience.
Really bad. I rang over 50 times one morning and still couldn't get through, I resorted to going in and asking for an appointment and told me they only have appointments during work hours - hence why I tried calling in the morning for a morning appointment but I can never get through. I also went in to drop off samples one morning and I rang the bell in reception and they ignored me and didn't come out. A doctor also was meant to give me exercises for my foot but did nothing and I'm still in pain.
If I could leave a zero star, I would do that! This is the worst surgery I ever came across in my life and had such an owful experience! Rude people on reception and discrimination against new patients who would like to registering at practice, also you wait forever untill they can actually bother to come and answear to the bells, speaking rude and in loud toner, pressing you to wear a mask when this is not compulsory by the law! Terrible and stressful experience! Avoid avoid!!!!!
We booked appointment at 16 weeks pregnant as per my pregnancy notes. I thought it would be with midwife. Booking was with GP but told he doesnt deal with pregnancy check ups unless specific issues so turned away. Took morning off work in vain. Reading my notes after it said 16 weeks appointment can be with midwife or gp so not sure why I was told gp didnt deal with it. It would be good if staff were trained to know what appointments are relevant for pregnancy at their practice.
I’ve been with the doctors for many years, I trust them fully, I’m always able to be seen or have contact with a doctor either a call, video calls or can been seen fast if you need to. They are great with my children and very thorough Drs Desai,Farooqi and gerrard are my go to drs but they are all very good when I’ve seen others. I can order items online rather then go into the surgery so that’s very convenient. I’m very grateful to have them as our doctors, I’ve no complaints.
I have had a couple of small issues recently which have not required full appointments - I have been able to use the online service and have had such quick responses - I appreciate that I don't have to use up an appointment for these issues (a fit note and a simple prescription) so these can be saved for people who need a full appointment! Both times the issues have been sorted in less than a day with no need to wait in phone queues.
I rarely make a visit to my GP unless I feel I have an issue that is urgent. In today's case, my first visit to a Doctor here was the worst that I have ever experienced. I was spoken down to in a way that made me feel stupid and my fears/anxieties regarding the issues I had were recognised but dismissed - there was nothing that could be done. I will be moving to another GP surgery to see a more understanding and considerate Doctor.
On hold for 29 minutes to book an appointment, i was the 3rd person in que, only to be told they are fully booked. Put on hold everytime i asked a question as the receptionist was incompetent to answer questions without having to speak to someone else. Everytime i ask to speak to someone in a higher position i seem to get an appointment straight away. Very poor service, would not recommend to anyone moving into this area.
Have been with this practice for over thirty years. Throughout the years they have had to deal with various medical issues for myself and my children. Recently, regarding my health which meant I needed major surgery they have gone above and beyond to assist me through from reception to doctor. I really can’t stress enough how wonderful and professional this Practice is. Thank you to all of you!!
When my parents were alive they received excellent care under this practice. So many years have passed now and I myself continue to have excellent care and attention from Dr Desai, the lovely nurses and all staff. Sometimes the answer to our questions aren't as we were used to hearing but NHS guidelines change and not always for better. The practice must follow guidelines. Thank you team.
I’ve used this surgery for almost 2 years now and have always had a very good experience with all the doctors, receptionists and booking appointments, but this week I had exceptionally good care from Dr MENASHY, REBECCA, she was so thorough with her examination, took her time to explain everything to me, answer questions, provided reassurance and medical advice. Thank you doctor Menashy!
Time and time again I have been dismayed at the surly, rude and unhelpful receptionists employed at this practice. Hidden in an office, you have to ring a bell to be able to talk to any of them, and when they do finally appear from their room, they talk to you from behind the door in the most reluctant manner, as if you are disturbing them from more important work. It’s disgraceful
I was with the Old Courthouse surgery for over 8 years before we moved. Now having experience with other GP surgery, I think the Old Courthouse Surgery is just so great. Our family were really looked after, all the doctors were nice and we could get appointments when we need. I am going to miss this GP Surgery so much and will register again if we move back to the area.
Bloody awful practice my girlfriend was first in the cue and she waited over 10 minutes to just get disconnected also they are closed everyday from 12pm to 4pm for administration purposes. Seriously WTH? Would not recommend this practise to anyone go to long rove surgery they are only a 3 minute walk from this so called “practice”. Please do not go here!!!!
Friendly staffs (even they always come across a bit rude), helpful doctors, but the GP service is let down by the hundreds of mistakes they've made on repeated prescriptions & there are always errors on missing medicines! They make you have to fight for what you entitled to receive at the first place. Hope the staff will pay more attention to details.
The reception staff are so lovely and helpful. They're extremely polite and understanding. I've recently joined the surgery and am so surprised as previous experience at other surgeries has not been so pleasant. The Dr's are very understanding, I don't feel rushed and it seems like they can't do enough to help. Can't recommend them enough.
It's always a struggle dealing with the receptionists here. Whatever you ask to do it's always not possible. Rather than trying to be helpful, they take pleasure in telling you that you can't do it that way without any meaningful explanation and in a condescending way. They often don't even listen to what you have to say.
One of the best GP’s I’ve ever had, you always get an appointment, they are super professional and the reception team and really friendly. Dr Deshi in particular is really attentive, thorough and in my experience the best doctor I’ve ever seen. I once took my son to see him and he called me the next day to check on him.
I had my bloods taken there and she was so gentle I do not have a Bruise were when I go to the hospital its as though I have been in a boxing ring,I have only been with this surgery for 2 years, and they are Excellent compared with the other surgery that I have been with all my life in the Borough of Barnet. Thank You.
Recently moved from previous surgery and have been amazed by the much better service offered by Old Courthouse. Waiting times on phone are lower, telephone appointments have always been kept, very punctually and test results are emailed through within minutes of telephoning through for them. A great experience so far!
I just don't understand why the average score for this surgery is so low? I am relatively new to the area and I think they have been brilliant to respond to my questions and needs. The Doctor and Nurse we have seen have been very welcoming. NHS staff are so overworked, let's give them the credit they deserve.
The worst GP in the world, noone ever answers the phone so you’d assume they’re busy with patients but nope, when you go in there is nobody at the desk to help, you have to wait at least 10 minutes for someone to come out and speak to you so I’m not sure what they actually do in there. Terrible
Told me one day they could carry out my blood tests for private treatment then told me the next they couldn't because I was doing the treatment privately. I have to now cancel my private treatment because I cannot afford the preassessments that I was told they could do for me under the NHS.
During these difficult times with NHS stretch the team has kept its professionalism and caring manner. Very attentive. Spoke to Debbie from Admin today in regards to my mother. Whilst adhering to GDPR, she was amazing and helpful. Thank you team. Your are much appreciated by your patients…
I would like to know whether you can book appointments on line, It says on their home page that you need to register but I cannot see how yu do this. When I went into the surgery was told that you can only book appointments by phoning, which is it.
Always appreciate the service, which is understandably under pressure like all health care services. The staff are generally lovely to deal with. They have a tough job so even if its not the response I want I can understand the situation.
I really don’t know why this surgery is kept open, if it’s so horribly mismanaged. Nobody picks up calls, there is no email ID for patients to write to, nobody follows up…it’s a mess, nobody seems to care about the patients.
This is my new GP surgery, and I have always received a fantastic service. My prescription requests are dealt with very promptly. The nurse I met today was lovely and attentive, and the receptionists were very helpful.
Appointment booked for 11.50 and was only seen at 1 pm. Was only informed by the receptionist once when would it be likely to seen . To be told they don't know as the Dr is running behind. Totally disgraceful.
I'm really surprised at some of these reviews! Yeah its difficult to get an appointment but so is it anywhere thanks to austerity. The doctors here are brilliant and that's what you want in your local clinic!
From my experience... the doctors are friendly and thorough. I find the receptionists very helpful and attentive. You sometimes have to wait, but that’s not a problem and is the same everywhere! …
Had a very good experience with The Old Courthouse Surgery. Very empathetic and caring staff (reception and doctors) who helped get my daughter registered and seen very quickly. Thank you very much
As usual, the service has been terrible and seem to be playing catch up. I wouldn't recommend them if you have other options. During the recent lockdowns, I've had very little support from them.
The worse ...they never get back to you ...they don't care if you are waiting their call and their advice on what to do with you illness and they leave you with the pain .
This GP surgery are absolutely lovely, the admin team, reception staff, Dr Desai, Dr O'Donnell have all helped me so much and been supportive through my health journey.
Simply 'THE BEST' never being prouder of a surgery and the excellent work they do. Caring, friendly and efficient in all the do both Doctors, nurses and staff.
Some of the nurses and doctors are very good but the problem is management, the person who is in charge of this GP does not care and is completely unhelpful
Incapable of pursuing any diagnosis that is "out of the norm". Neglectful. I would avoid if you want a GP that actually chases test results or a diagnosis.
Unfortunately you have to press the buzzer eight or nine times for the receptionist to come out of their room so that you can pick up a piece of paper.
Doctors are good but receptionists are rude and dismissive. It really seems like you're putting them out by being there, or asking for an appointment.
Excellent Practice! Always Extremely caring, efficient, understanding GPs and polite staff . Lucky to be registered with this practice. Well done !
Tried for the first time today. Very much liked the experience, and was very pleasantly surprised, considering the reviews.
The receptionists are un-helpful, they think they are above the patients, the doctor indifferent, couldn't care less..
This is a brilliant surgery. Friendly helpful reception. Both the practice nurse and my GP Dr Farooqi - excellent.
Dedicated, passionate & kind doctors, nurses and staff going above and beyond for me and my family. Very grateful
Can never get an appointment even without covid now we can't even get a phone appointment
Excellent GP practice. Very efficient staff, friendly GPs and nurses. Highly recommend.
Phone service is appalling 20 minute wait on caller number 1 .that's why it only gets 4
I have always been very impressed with the service at this surgery
A true computer says no approach. Absolute shambles.
Always been very impressed.
Really pleasant practice
