On the wild night of 6/10 into 7/10, I embarked on an odyssey into the Last Chance Rock and Roll Bar—a realm of delightful absurdity and intriguing extremeness. Upon entering, I was instantly submerged in a sea of patrons who defied the very laws of conventional appearance. Their hair resembled a psychedelic kaleidoscope, as if they'd personally challenged the rainbow to a duel. The live music that manifested on stage was an enigma of sound, transcending the boundaries of comprehension. It was as if extraterrestrial beings had landed and started a jam session with musical instruments from a parallel universe. The absurdity was so intoxicatingly surreal that I questioned the very fabric of reality. What truly defied expectations were the enchanting transgender individuals who graced this curious establishment. They wielded a unique charm that went beyond mere friendliness—it was as if they held the secrets of the cosmos in their captivating gazes. Their presence added a layer of enigmatic allure to the already bewildering evening. Now, let us not forget the ever-watchful security personnel. Their devotion to safeguarding this peculiar haven deserves a celebration of its own. One couldn't help but wonder if their nipples, hidden beneath their security attire, possessed a certain gentleness that transcended mere human perception. They were, in their own right, an enigmatic and integral part of the Last Chance experience. The beedy eyes and curly hair of the security officer, combined with a curled lip that would intermittently enter into a sneer, was intimidating to begin with, but once it was clear the man was a high functioning disabled individual it only added to an incredible experience. In the realm of the Last Chance Rock and Roll Bar, the ordinary is but a distant memory, replaced by the extraordinary, the absurd, and the downright bizarre. It's a place where the boundaries of reality blur, and where security is a mysterious enigma with gentle nipples. This is a destination that dares to defy the mundane, inviting you to embrace the weird and wonderful with open arms. The abundance of homosexuals was also cause for celebration. Some of the bathroom stalls descended into lude and intense experiences that one struggles to say no to!
PLEASE READ ITS WORTH IT Love this bar . The walls get me . covered in all these quotes and pics STICKERS and flyers could read for hours. and the $12 steak night . Are you kidding . Amazing . Highly recommend . I go every Wednesday $12 300grams porterhouse served with sweet potatoes fries (might I add my fiance hates sweet potatoes and pumpkin yet finishes the sweet potatoes fries first) best sweet potatoes fries I have ever had in my life and salad . At woolies is $14 for a 300grams porterhouse not to mention cooking it . And is served with a side of authentic dirty thick pub gravy or garlic butter depends on the night I think . I have never faulted they're steak night . Am yet to try the family dinner night on Tuesdays and the other nights they have. It says they mention on they're socials but havnt seen what they do or a menu . Cheap great locally brewed beers and the stage/band room out the back is sick as f*ck . Defs keen to try more food and suss a gig in the band room . Not to mention how Beautifull the staff are and owners for trying to keep the tote living . So that there goes to show they not only pride them selfs and they're bar but also care for the community and other locals . #selfless do your self a favour and go suss the last chance they're steak night a gig or all of the above . You won't regret it . Also not to mention our medium rare steaks chips salad and gravey are prepared in around 10-12 mins perfect service friendly staff great chef great prices. Am rambling now so if ur have committed to reading this far . You may as well commit to heading down there .
A haven for metal heads, goths and other seemingly unsavoury types. This place has a wide range of spirits on offer but a narrower range of beers on tap. The place can be pretty dead during the week but not unlike Dr Frankenstein the live gigs on Friday and Saturday nights send a life-giving electrifying jolt through Last Chance that permeates almost every square metre of the space. The pool table can also provide a lively side-show as this reviewer can attest having navigated his way through nigh on infinite pool politics negotiations (while winning a couple on the way). If you're feeling adventurous on a Friday or Saturday night give this a place a go. The live music space isn't the biggest but it does create a self contained vacuum of sound that doesn't overwhelm the rest of the venue if you're not watching a performance.

I go to this place regularly, at least once a week. They have got great specials running on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. I don't know what sort of places you feel comfortable in, but this place is one of such for me. Also their social media posts are so fun to follow, even if you have no time to go out or anything like that, you just wanna follow that quality content, you'll know what I'm talking about.

perfect dive bar for gigs, food snd drinks. Having played at this bar a few times, and been here for other mates gigs i can say this place is one of the best. They’ve revamped the menu from the las time i came here and it is amazing. Tasty tacos? check Bliss souvlakis? check With a range of seasonal beers (they even tell you until when they’ll have them) and all the basic spirits there’s really nothing to complain about. Rock n Roll
An excellent punk rock dive bar! The bartender, sound guy, and patrons were friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the house lager well enough to follow a pint with a jug. Good tunes on the PA before the show, which was 4 local bands for 10 bucks! The first two bands were great; had to bail after that but punks young, old, and in between were loving it. I'll be back any time I'm in Melbourne.

You just can't find great service like this anymore, the Last Chance has everything you could want. Great range of drinks, incredible menu (vego & vegan friendly!) And staff that make you feel like a friend and not just a customer! Live music and when the live music isn't on they play classic rock tunes that just make you feel at home! Can't find better. Thank you LC bar, see you soon!
The atmosphere is really relaxed, very homely by all appearances and patrons there were enjoying the music, the beverages and food. It is quite post modern and very "punk-rock" themed. The experience can be entertaining and fun altogether keeping a very down to Earth, street smart drinking scene for the young Rock n' Rollers and proud punk warriors and Gothic Goddesses.
Expect poor quality food prepared in their 2x2 kitchen. You would have to be very hungry to consider eating here. Most importantly I hope you don't need to use their bathroom which comes without functioning doors and an open-street view. You have a good chance of catching more than you bargained for off those rims. Cheap in-house beer might be a drawcard though?
At 5 in the morning to find a bar open playing anything but duff duff till 7 you have to give them 5 stars. ..... cool metal crowd good staff and reasonable prices on the drinks....just wish Joe's in Perth opened till 7.... you have to love Melbourne for the nightlife you can party 24/7.... and The Last Chance is the bomb... …
Love the band room but it gets super hot in there very quickly and didn't seem like there was any air con system. Also the front section smelt awfully like raw sewerage and made it uncomfortable to be outside. The inside was very hot and the outside smelt terrible but I still have a good time when I'm there.
Awesome live band venue with finger licking food!!

Interesting venue. Always accommodating bands, however they would really benefit for a better live set up. All in all, this place has a great feel to all you rock n roll types no matter what hour you're rocking up. Keep the good vibes going and this place will accommodate.
Best bar in the Cbd and best vegan options in the CBD we had the Vegan lamb burger and the Vegan chicken souvlaki both were out of this world good if you're vegan why are you not enjoying some of the best and most affordable vegan pub eats in Melbourne!!!
Some of the side bands are defeaningly loud so I won't be going back probably. That's just my taste. The drinks are however nicely priced. Bring earbuds if you have sensitive hearing like me to dull the volume to something reasonable. Good fun though.
Finding a bar with real character these days can be difficult but the music, atmosphere and grungy vibe of the place was awesome and such a good environment for some drinks and good times with friends. Food looks great too, but i didn't get anything
This is a great little North Melbourne watering hole. It has an awesome, laid back vibe with super friendly staff. Definitely check out the food, it's got a great selection of meaty, and not so meaty items. I highly recommend the vegan souvlaki.
We stumbled across this place a while ago on a busy corner at the Queen Vic Markets and I'm glad we did. It's an eclectic, funky and cheery place with a good crowd and nice vibe. Bar staff are always happy to see you and the food is incredible.
Small, grungy (in a good way) pub. Staff are ace and evidently like working there. Open till late. Hit the place up after a salsa event; the DJ's tuned in and started spinning a cracking string of tracks. The place will never be the same again.
Had a great time last night at The Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar watching three rock bands, including my mate Kyle and his band "Social Skills". The drinks that the bar provides is so Dope and The Last Chance Snack Mix is absolutely delicious.
Refused service,, spoke to security calmly,.no explanation, they couldn't understand why?music was great staff were following orders by some1 who didn't have the decency to explain why. 150$ I won't get back. Never again. On to better venues
Want a beer at an actual pub but you're in the city.. go here. Chill as heck staff, cheap beers and great food. Couple of couches inside, few tables n stuff and there's a large seating area out the front. Perfect if ya been at the market..
Amazing spot, my friend! They've got the good cheap beers, chummy service from good buddy at the bar, and the dope vegan menu with crispy treats for your soul. Try that vegan spicy lamb royale burger with the homemade potatocake - oof ×_×
It might be called the last chance, but it's your BEST chance at sipping some fine beverages and enjoying some of Melbourne's most rippingest bands. Take a chance and head to last chance. Big chance you'll have a night to remember.
Great little pub for food or drink. Very relaxed atmosphere with plenty if sitting area. The food is delicious however the drinks are little on the expensive side by what you would expect being located near southern cross station
Great venue for intimate gigs, food and drink selection are spot on too. Only things holding it back are a dodgy pool setup and lack of ventilation. Crack another window and get a couple of fresh cues and you're on a winner.
Has a real rock & roll feel to it, craft beers on tap and plenty of Melbourne Bitter and Emu Export cans stocked in the fridge! Bar snacks / food is decent. Small stage to the side where bands rock out is pretty good.
Really enjoyed my time here. A great selection of beers was only bettered by the talent of some of the live musicians. A pub with some great tasting beers and quality music. Can’t wait to come again. Keep rocking on.
If this place sucked the $12 steak night would still make it 5 stars. The fact that it doesn't is just a bonus. Absolute banger.

Totally adored this cool little joint. Went unexpectedly for a drink before a dinner reservation up the road, and we loved it! Definitely hope to go back and spend more time there, try the food and everything.
What can I say. It's an icon and nailing it in their genre. Make sure you dress up beforehand to fit in (black t-shirt should suffice). Cigarette burns on the toilet. Brilliant attention to detail. Well done!
Bands were great and room is tight. Conveniently placed to transport. Chilled place to enjoy a few beverages with mates without having to be a hipster.

Queer friendly, lovely staff and atmosphere. Hands down best chicken schnitzel I've ever had. One nitpicking would be I wish there were a couple of more non-alcoholic beer options but that's just me.
Iconic Melbourne venue like nothing else. The moment you walk in you know you are somewhere special, highly recommend for everyone visiting or living in Melbourne.

What old mate said below in better words than I can string together, where else can you drink till the sun comes up and get a potato scallop at 2:30 in the morning. Heaven is a place on earth
Last chance is always a fantastic time, excellent dive bar for those looking for 7am finishes, great staff, location and music. Need some rock and punk gigs in your life? Hit them up …
Is it the prettiest place? No. But it's my kind of people. Open til late, great beers on tap, only downside is that after 11pm no drinks outside, so not the greatest on a hot summers night.
First time I was pleasantly surprised. My mate had a gig so I made the journey. It did attract a *rough* looking crowd, but on talking to people everyone, including staff, very friendly.
Great dive bar, oozes rock and roll, sticky tables, PBR cans, a pool table and great music coming over the speakers. All great until a DJ started a little later with some dodgy tunes...
Excellent venue to see some deadly bands and enjoy some good food and drink. Love the aesthetic and convenient location near CBD and the marketplace. Would love to come back sometime!
Fairly small stage and band storage, but this place is kind of an institution for live music, good space for a tight crowd, staff are cool, will definitely play here again ...
Excellent find. Bar plus a hang-out/dance area and they were playing old school 80s and 90s alternative, new wave, hard rock until past 7am last Friday. Had a blast. Xx
Excellent gig room and if like a lot of the West's gig goers you miss the Reverence Hotel the dirt bag food here, both meat and vegan, is right up there with the best.
Real and proper rock and roll bar. With a full vegan menu on top! The staff are gorgeous and the chef is a wonder, love how much pride and care these guys take. A gem!
$10 Monday Schnitzel and Gravy was the best value meal in Melbourne! Super tasty too. Thanks guys! $10 pints and Rock and Roll on the stereo. Bargain bargain bargain!
Rock and roll authenticity Central. At 62, going to see bands can provoke judgement. Does not happen here. This place keeps me young. Absolute icon in this town.
Great dive bar with cool live music and some of the best pub grub in Melbourne! Seriously try the lamb souva, itll knock your socks off in the best kind of way.
Absolutely amazing place. I consider it my second home, the staff are amazing the security are really good at keeping the peace and music is always awesome.
Iconic place. The vibes here are only surpassed by the $12 steak night on Wednesdays and the $10 family dinner night on Tuesdays (usually a huge schnitty!)
This place is absolutely amazing! The venue is fantastic, the staff is incredibly friendly, and it's a must-visit spot for enjoying talented local bands.
My favourite dive bar in Melbourne. Great for live music, amazing food, fantastic staff and super late license to hang dance and drink til the wee hours.
Great old venue, you will meet some very interesting people who go there. I went just on 30 years ago and if I remember, it was called "THE PUBLIC BAR"
Bloody love this place. Great service. Great music. Great beer. Great vibes all round! (Never had the food but by all accounts it's great as well!)
Easily the best bar in the known universe, great pool table also, fun had by all, goodnight

Great fun bar, which hosts a range of rock bands.. good vibes all round. Quality 'dive-bar' vibe. Mixer does a good job with the bands.
Cool barman, iconic edgy venue, Picklebacks and a $2 pool table. And did I mention it's in the heart of this gorgeous city? Love it.
Gotta love this place. Amazing staff, awesome specials both good and grog. Some of the best bands around the world SHOULD play here.
I'm not exaggerating people - this is the best vegan pub food in Melbourne. Have yourself a pint and a parma and a rockin great time
One of the best gig venues around. Great bands and $5 can of Amsterdam or Tecate. The new popup food things look pretty great too.
Fantastic sitting and standing area! Good range of tap beers and a grungy but inviting vibe to it. By far my favourite as of yet.
Nice atmosphere. I had the fried chicken and it was delish. Music wasn't too loud and it was the perfect place for a chat!
Good as rock / punk / metal venue. Cocktails are awesome on a Sunday and always great to see the unusual lineups playing.
I used 2 like this place . but the dj on fridays SUX ! thought it was mean 2 b a rock n roll bar ? don't go on a friday
Tatty carpets? Check. Ramshackle aura? Check. Don't order the house wine, and you're in for a relaxed yet raucous time.
Great rock bar with regular gigs and nice selection of drinks and pub food. Edit: still awesome since the last review!

Terrific place. Great LIVE original music. Good range of beer, cool vibe and cruisy folk. Will definitely go back.
Best punk rock venue in town. Open until 7 am on weekends. The last chance for you to go when in Melbourne
Good staff, open late. Outside still being constructed and the inside a bit dank, but I had a great time.
Great for a late night boogie. One staff member was amazing with table service and outgoing friendliness

Great place for gigs, good drink deals and serves the best chicken burger I've ever had
Absolute magnet for people with outrageously coloured hair and jackets with spikes
Magnificent old school venue. Great beers and comfort food. Loaded fries!
Interesting place to visit. Batman was nice enough and the beer was good
Top bar, heavily frequented by Spartans and monks for some reason
The best. A safe place. Fun times. …
