Really sweet & lovely place! In a great walking location, and the quality / upkeep of the rooms is awesome. Super easy to check in and get access to the room. Had a bit of an issue with stuff that I left behind, but they were able to resolve it with me :-) just be mindful to not leave anything behind, because it’s a bit of a process to get the items returned to you. So all in all: amazing location, overpriced for what you get a bit, and customer support was able to come around when I left some of my belongings back in the room. Great work Kasa team!

Very cute & small rooms. Definitely a high price for the space you get, but the location is great, and the rooms are surprisingly quiet.

Awesome place to stay for a little getaway. Perfect location within walking distance to everything you would want or need. The room was fitting and cozy with a balcony overlooking all the activity on the street below. The highlight was the 5th floor, which nobody else seemed to know about. Perfect spot to unwind by the fire pit at night. The lobby bar was convenient and the checkin/out process let us enjoy our stay while not having to come and go with any interactions.

**update the manager was really kind and responsive and offered to replace the sheets and look into noise solutions** The Castro is a wonderful neighborhood in SF, but my room had a lot of noise being street facing. Just know their bar is open until 2am, so try to get a room to the back of the building. The sheets were very uncomfortable but the manager offered to replace them. This is a beautiful historical neighborhood but I’d only recommend it if you’re here to party and can sleep through loud noise.

As other reviewers have said, prepare for very small rooms! However, room is very well thought out in terms of storage and user-friendliness. Location great, remote check in very easy. Tho no front desk, the Kasa team was incredibly responsive in attending to our text messages… got back within seconds to our requests/questions. We were lucky to get a room in back of hotel.. incredibly quiet. Not so sure about front rooms. Rooms immaculate and bed was super comfy.

Location is fantastic. The check in process was very easy. Room was very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Shower amenities were lovely! Definitely a gay themed hotel but anyone would feel comfortable staying here, even a family with kids. The room did only come with 2 bath towels. We would have liked a hand towel, washcloth, and especially a bathmat to put in front of shower for stepping out. The room is quite small, but we did not mind at all. It had everything we needed and would stay there again.

More accommodation options is great for our small businesses and overall health of our neighborhood. Especially at a time half of the storefronts on Castro St are empty. So I’m thankful that they are here. Neighborhood NIMBYs fought this hotel’s operating permit because it would “cause noise” (next to all the rowdy bars that have been here forever). After the hotel installed noise sensors to appease them, they are now complaining that “noise sensors are creepy”. ‍♂️

Room smelled like stale cigarette smoke and hairspray. The bed smelled like oily hair. Even after airing it out for 4 hours. The bed itself is extra extra plush, so you sink into it, with your body in a u-shape. The sheets were coarse cotton mix if not wholly synthetic. Super hot and scratchy. Location’s great, if loud. Overall, overpriced and unclean.

We loved our stay at Hotel Castro. The room was beautiful and had everything we needed. The room was quiet even though the neighborhood was in full party mode around us. The location is surrounded by delicious restaurants, coffee, and shops. We will be staying here again.

Great concept for a hotel with easy self-access and in the perfect location. Rooms are well decorated, modern, with great amenities. They are small, so great for a single traveler, but would be tight for a couple. Definitely would stay again.

My partner and I absolutely loved our stay! The room was clean, cozy, and had tons of natural light from the massive windows. The view was also gorgeous and location was perfect!
