Human decency has been hard to come by. I came into this store on July 2, 2022 to purchase new appliances for my newly bought home. I was told they would be delivered August 5. They delivered my washer and dryer but did not hook it up properly. I was told someone else would come back another day to complete the job. They also did not deliver my stove and dishwasher. First it was August 5, then 8, then 11, then 16, then 20. It is now August 19 and they have cancelled 5 delivery appointments and 5 installation appointments. I have spent hours and hours talking with Home Depot customer service reps over the phone and through webchat. I have made repeated visits to the store to discuss my concerns in-person. My house of 6 has gone weeks now without a way to properly cook food or wash clothes. They have given me repeated assurances and yet every single time no one delivers on the day. The in-store customer experience has not helped either. The majority of in-store associates and managers I've dealt with have been stand-offish and made off-the-cuff remarks that they can't do anything, they don't know what's going, or insinuated that I'm somehow responsible for all these issues. I'm especially enraged because there have been missed deliveries/installations where the carrier reported to them that they arrived but no one was home to receive the order. I get that it's mostly out of the hands of in-store staff because they are dealing with third party carriers and contractors. But I really expected a bit more empathy. I've now taken 5 days off work (unpaid) to receive these orders and will continue having to take time off (and incur reprimand from my work) because these orders have not yet been fulfilled. I have spent numerous hours over the phone, in-store, and over email trying to get someone to help me resolve these issues. Everyone wants to push this problem to someone else. As an aside, I would like to thank an in-store associate I spoke with today named Ben. Instead of waiting for the installation to get rescheduled yet again he offered to complete my washer and dryer hookup personally. He was not permitted to do so (understandably) due to liability concerns that management had. Even though nothing came of it, that little bit of willingness to go the extra mile has made him the only face-to-face interaction I've had with this Home Depot location where I felt someone actually cared about what I've been going through. UPDATE: As of August 23, 2022, my deliveries and installations have been fulfilled. These orders cumulated in me paying a third-party contractor to do my washer + dryer hookup, filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau & Ontario Consumer Protection, and engaging Google Reviews and other social media to reach the business (which I've never had the need to do before). I still have outstanding issues regarding compensation/reimbursement that in-store management refuses to deal with. I will never shop at or recommend Home Depot, Canada Cartage or Quick Contractors again.

I reserved a covered trailer from this location about one month in advance of when I was supposed to move house. The night before my move was set to take place, at 7PM on a Friday evening, I received a cancellation email from the store letting me know that my trailer reservation had been cancelled due to lack of vehicle availability. I guess Home Depot had overbooked beyond their actual capacity. By that time, less than 12 hours before we were supposed to start moving into our new house and on a Friday evening, there was obviously no way we could find an alternate rental. All the other truck/trailer rental companies like Penske and Enterprise were closed for the week, and would be closed until Monday morning. We had to move on Saturday. Even if some of them had been open on Saturday, I expect they would have been sold out on such short notice, anyway. With my closed trailer booking cancelled last-minute by Home Depot, I had to beg a relative with a pickup truck to come help me move the stuff that was too bulky for my vehicle. Our move was way more time-consuming and exhausting due to having to take a ton of small trips to and from our new place; we burned a ton more gas; our furniture got scratched up and covered in road dirt, all crammed in the back of an open-bed pickup; and my plants were destroyed from being exposed to the highway-speed winds. What would I have done if I didn't have access to a pickup truck? What if I had large furniture that wouldn't have fit into the pickup? What if I was moving further away than a 30-minute drive, and I couldn't have made multiple trips? I would have been completely SOL, all thanks to the Home Depot. I would have missed my move-out date and potentially had to pay an extra month of rent (over $2000). The most insulting part? Home Depot's brusque cancellation email didn't even include a cursory "sorry". It was just, "Your reservation is cancelled. Call us if you want to rebook for a future date." Why would I ever want to rebook???

this place's customer service by phone is truly terrible. I called and asked to speak with someone regarding interior doors, was transferred, the phone rang a couple times, line cut off. Called again, asked for same, told them I got disconnected, spoke to different person, he said he will check if someone is available, transferred, call rang for 2 minutes and no one ever picked up. Called a third time, spoke to a woman who was in a completely different department, she said she would check and then said there was someone available, called them and I was disconnected AGAIN. Called back, I spoke to a girl, explained the situation, she asked if I wanted to leave a message, I said no becuase two other people JUST told me someone was available to take my call, she transfers me to a manager, Brian. I tell him the story, he gets someone on the phone. The man who he got on the phone, was the wrong department. He told me he doesn't deal with interior doors that are for pantries, only steel and wood doors. so he transferred me to someone else. I spoke to the lady named Suzanne I believe, asked her about the door, she told me she was the wrong person to speak to as she doesn't deal with doors of that size. I told her I was just transferred here by the interior doors dept. she told me that she could potentially order one but it would be 4 doors stacked together. no other options available. I shouldn't have to call back 4 times to speak to someone. Also, when you call, you have to speak into the phone. you can't press 0, you can't dial an extension, you have to speak to the robot and hope it understands you.

Update: My initial review score was 1/5 stars, and it can be seen below. After my review, I have got in touch with Home Depot customer service as per their request and in return they have contacted the store and made it possible for me to return the item as an exception to their standard return policy and receive store credit which I have used for a buying a stronger unit. I would like to thank Chantel from the customer service for taking responsibility and providing me with a solution. Even though during the time of my purchase they have verbally confirmed I could return their own brand Vissani portable air conditioner within 90 days if it did not work, they have declined to accept my return afterwards citing an entirely different policy that the item needs to be unused and returned within 30 days. I will take my business somewhere else where they hire competent store clerks who do not misguide their customers. I have bought the air conditioner following the guidelines in the product description that it could be used in rooms up to 250 sq. ft. Well, it did not. Instead of providing me with a solution or accepting their mistake, they have told me that I could sell the item to someone else, completely missing the point of the conversation. For my next purchase, I will choose a brand who stands by their product. You have just lost a customer.

I have shopped at this Home Depot for the past six years. Until today the interaction has been anywhere from ok to good. Nothing really stood out that would prompt me to write a review. Until this day, that this. I was in the store browsing wires for a plug. An older, bald, large white male store employee asked what I was looking for. After hearing what I was planning to do he disrespectfully loathed that it was “the dumbest thing he has heard”. I asked another question about the safety of wire grounding and he responded, “f***k yeah…” He even went on to suggest materials that were clearly unfit for my intended use. Clearly these were further signs that he had zero intention of helping. Where did this store employee come from? Just before me he was helping another female customer. The tone and helpfulness he provided to her was a world of difference. Maybe he didn’t like my face or race. I know complaints in these days of staff shortages mean nothing. That is unfortunate for business and society.

DO NOT use their window and door installation. Their warranty is awful and only covers one year for installation. Many local companies will offer 25 years on their products and on their install. They do NOT offer competitive prices; after all is said and done, you will pay more. I got my basement window redone 2.5 years ago, it started leaking. They told me it was an installation issue which was not covered anymore. Have to pay another company 700$ to get it redone. They hire third parties to do the install but don't stand behind their work. The other company I went with was astonished at how bad the install is and told me they could put a bigger window in it's spot for cheaper. I was taken advantage of because I thought Home Depot would be a company that was reputable... boy was I wrong. Check out the pictures!

I went into The Home Depot at Baseline and Woodroffe today to purchase a second Ryobi Drill/Driver kit. I spoke with Sharon, one of the staff in the area, wanting to know if the particular kit I was interested in would suffice for the job I had in mind. With an affirmative she tried to find that particular kit on the lower shelves, but no joy. She proceeded to grab a rolling ladder hauled it over to higher pallets and proceeded to scamper up and down spending several minutes trying to find my choice of product. The system showed there were 7 units in stock. After all was said and done I walked out of there a very satisfied and happy customer, with kit under arm. Sharon was truly a breath of fresh air. Friendly, informative, pleasant, tenacious, and caring. Thanks to her for making it such a memorable experience.

I would like to compliment the staff that assisted me yesterday evening. The young male associate in the lumber area – I explained that I had a health issue and couldn’t lift the pieces of lumber. He immediately took care of everything. The lumber required cutting and as I watched he paid attention to details such as measurement prior to cutting and checking the cuts were the correct size after cutting. I then proceeded to the returns desk near the garden center as asked if I could pay there as I was parked close outside, no problem and was asked if I need help to load my vehicle and immediately paged for help. The young lad that pushed the dolly out to my vehicle and placed everything in the car was personable and polite. It is reassuring to encounter young people with work ethic and loyalty to Home Depot.

I returned a couple of items totaling about $40, and because I initially purchased them partly with an old $2 gift card the representative said they have a new policy and would need to check my ID. I showed him my id and he proceeded to take my card out of my hand, turn it around and scan the bar code on the back of my drivers license without my consent. The store manager explained that they send my information to a third party company to help home depot detect fraudulent returns. I did not authorize home depot to harvest my personal information and send it to a third party without my knowledge and consent. Beware of this practice if you value your privacy. I will never shop here again and will be filing a complaint with the privacy commissioner and i encourage others to do the same.

Customer service zero stars. Phone service is the worst. Got disconnected. When calling you are put on hold only so someone can have they're fun by retrieving the call then placing it hold hold again without speaking. This happened four times before they hung up. Called again, only to have to speak to the robot and hope it understands me this time. Also, when you call, you have to speak into the phone and not before the robot is done talking. You say what you are looking for, and then the robot tells you that this location doean have it. Then it tells you what this location has. One of the option is what I was looking for. However, because I did not use the exact words I was told it didn't have it. ARTIFICIAL STUPIDITY. I love RONA!

I went in to get a drain stopper for my bathroom sink. The store clerk in plumbing tried to tell me I needed to replace the whole drain. I found that a bit excessive when all I wanted was to be able to fill up the sink with water and not have it drain out in 2 min. After I explained that drain pipe wasn't the problem he conceded and grabbed a stopper off the rack. He was very quick to grab one without making sure it was the right size. Well just as I thought I had to go back the next day and pick out the right size myself and exchange it for the larger one which didn't fit at all! So basically it's nice to be offered help by the staff but not if they give you the wrong item. Other than that I really like Home Depot.

So we went in hear looking for a fridge they claimed to have in stock we talk to the old guy working in this section he was sitting at desk didn't even try to help us so we asked where it is he said he only has the display so cone back next week or I'll find at another store I ask to sell me the display he says we usually won't do that but if you go to barhaven they have 3 so we go to barhaven and the manager tells me they have none so you won't sell me the display but send me 20 minutes away to a store that has none very easy sell me the display open a new one when they come that is how lazy this guy is in the washer fridge part so if you need this stuff go to another store

The scheduled delivery of my new refrigerator and stove was delayed by 5 days, but that was likely because of the the trucker convoy occupation and the need to close so many of the highway exits. Still, Home Depot never reached out to inform me, instead I had to call them to ask why my appliances hadn’t been delivered. Fortunately when the appliances were delivered, the workmen who did the job were exceptional. Thank you Dwayne and Malcolm (Canada Cartage) - the care you took installing my fridge and stove was truly appreciated, as was your courtesy and professionalism. This positive review is for you (the missing star is Home Depot’s).

Home Depot offers the best customer service for sure, we had ordered a dishwasher and the waiting time was a month, after a month I got a call that the order has been delayed for another month . I did not want to wait for another month so I visited the store the next day and asked them to show some other models that would be available sooner . Barry was extremely kind as he understood that I have been waiting for long and he upgraded us to a better model for the same price! The dishwasher is coming this week! my husband and I are pleased by the exceptional customer service and are grateful. Thank you Home Depot, you are the best.

I live in Hull, Quebec. I went to three different building supplies (Rona, boul des Grives, Hull; Rona, boul de la Cité in Gatineau; Home Depot on Montée Paiement, Gatineau) stores looking for white plywood to then cut into shelves. Each store said nope, we don't cut that (because it is considered decorative) or don't have a cutter. I went to the Home Depot on Baseline Road in Ottawa and found the nicest staff!!! The young man who carried the big piece of plywood for me and then cut it in pieces for shelves, and the other gentleman, Gary in Hardware who directed me to shelf accessories. Not my first time there and I will return!

Do not order anything online. I have gotten the wrong building materials and tools, items lost in the mail, my order changed after it was placed and a massive amount of stress and wasted time. I have gotten my call answered one time out of every 10, over the last couple years, and I let it ring for a few minutes. Do not trust the 'in stock' inventory you see online unless the number is above 20. I will only shop at home depot in store from now on. Use online suppliers like Lee Valley, Atlas tools or Amazon. Employees mean well but fixing the mistakes online in person has been exhausting.

Hello Home Depot! Wanted to come on here and mention the outstanding customer service I received this evening from my man Aaron! He managed to put aside something he was working on to go out of his way and help me with my shopping experience. We enjoyed conversations about our perfered meals and gave each other advice on our next special meal. It is rare to meet someone with so much positivity and excitement around one of my favourite hobbies. Home Depot when this guys contract comes to renewal, make sure you sign him long term. After shopping around a little, we decided to have our countertops replaced with quartz by the Home Depot on Baseline Rd. There was a misunderstanding with the pricing, and a little hiccup during installation, but the Store Manager, Jeff Lee, personally saw to it that our issues were resolved quickly and that we were satisfied, despite what I’m sure is a very busy schedule. This is the reason we continue to shop at Home Depot and have our bigger installations/renos handled by them, as customer satisfaction is paramount and there is recourse if something goes wrong.

Friendly, courteous staff. What I appreciated the most was having employees come over to offer to help me just because I looked like I was trying to find something. Secondly, if an employee could not answer my question, then found someone who could! Most importantly was an older female employee who immediately guessed that we were looking for something in particular. She found a great sale on items and urged us to buy because demand was so high. We did. The next day, the sale was off but we had fortunately listened to her sound advice.

Their shipment office employee pass racial comments to truck driver at night and is very rude. I am talking about the guy with long beard and operates the fork lift at night. He passed racial comments on me where as i was very polite with him. Please tell him to lower his tone truck drivers are not mad delivering the goods at night. He has zero sense how to talk to people. And tell him if it would have been a native Canadian he would have banged u badly for being soo rude… please home depot fire such employees.

I get most of my work materials from Home Depot. I work as a contractor you can check my business. Some staff are very nice and friendly and they like to help, some are really rude. genuinely, Baseline branch is my favourite. I would also thank Gery one of the best staff there. So helpful every single time I see him there and he loves to help everyone. Sometimes, if you buy from Amazon, Canadian Tire..etc the same product could be cheaper. Today, I had a very bad shopping experience. I bought a front door lock for more than 170 yuan, but when I went home and opened the package, it contained a rusty old lock that had been replaced for many years. Don't your staff check it? Sell the old lock that had been replaced for many years. Don't your staff check it? Sell the old lock to customers that has been used for decades. In the future, customers can only open the package and check.

Unfortunately I'm not impressed - their roof frequently have issues with leaking. In effect they removed the ceiling inside the store leaving insulation exposed. Against the code to have insulation exposed. Especially with air movement, so we are inhaling fibreglass! Violation of health code.

My recent experience at this home depot was exceptional! Venus was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about my latest home project (staining a deck) she took the time to explain the different types of stain to me, swatched 3 samples for me to take home and take my time on deciding. I will definitely be returning to this location for the exceptional customer service. I wish more retailers had staff like this.

Wood quality is terrible! Lengths are all different for same length pieces, some of the cuts are insanely angled, so much splitting, so much warping, lots of pieces (that I wanted to use as outside pieces of my deck) have all those tiny lines all over it, and that brown pressure treated is so inconsistent and back to that ugly green for half the wood. For this we are paying high lumber prices!

Good store to get everything in 1 shot generally speaking. From appliances, to everything you'd need to do about any trades work from start to finish. The staff are always friendly at every location I've been to. There are certain things you should not buy here however, if you can help it. The 2x4s are pretty bad nowadays and I'd stay away from the Custom brand cement products.

Helpful and very knowledgeable staff who will bend over backwards to help. My personal experience over years is that the customer service here is so good that it approaches the supernatural. Today a customer service manager, Suzanne, actually researched and printed out info for me on a product I need that they unfortunately don't sell there. I am still flabbergasted. Thank you.

Horribly Understaffed Store. Once I finally found someone...Associate's have less knowledge of products than I do and I know nothing about construction or tools. Its very obvious to hear and see them scrabbling to answer questions. Walked in at 2pm .. finally found someone at 2:30pm.. to hear "I started a week ago" I wish I can help you. I just walked out " hey google " lol

Just left this store and had an absolutely great experience with a very nice young man named Joseph in lumber. He was really knowledgeable and fun to work with. Went into the store with an idea in mind but wasnt exactly sure what I needed. He did a great job helping execute a plan and went out of his way to make sure I had everything to make it a successful project!

At the cash, Sri was very patient and kind. I had an embarrassing moment with my cart and she was great at handling the situation. Management needs to figure scheduling out. In the entire store they only had one person that was licensed to drive the forklift. There was supposedly people in the back of the store but they were not allowed to leave their posts. The sole forklift driver had to go on lunch so I was left waiting for close to 30 minutes before a manager came to load my flooring.

I shop here for work because of Drew in flooring. It's sad to say but without his help I wouldn't be able to order online, or on the phone to the store, or with the 1-800# either. It's impossible to get through anywhere unless he's in. Please work on your glitches that have been present for many months now, and give him a huge reward for his help!! Thank you.

Purchased this battery today. The packaging was sketchy and tapped together. It was the only one on the shelf, so I grabbed it. When I opened it at home, there was what appears to be blood on the battery…. Why was this resold?? Was it a return and wasn’t even wiped down? Very disappointed as our company buys all of our equipment and supplies from Home Depot.

You can also find numerous options for your furniture wood and design. Free sample if you would like to compare wood for flooring and furniture. You can always count on the place to be stacked to the ceiling with knowledgeable staff to assist those of us who need help even in the light bulb department. It is their secret weapon and I wish other stores would learn from them and do the same. But so far they corner the market.

I would have given a better rating except that I hate the new system to get transferred to a department. Now it’s only vocal and the system always gets me wrong. Before there was a choice between the vocal and the phone keyboard. It was great then. You changed it for the worst. Flexibility is always better!

In May and June, this Home Depot has arguably one of the better garden centers in Ottawa. Even though I live in a different part of the city, I have been coming here for years to purchase plants, herbs, and vegetables for my garden and have always been happy with my purchases.

Price matching must be exact same item. A box fan at Canadian Tire $5.00 cheaper! They would not match. If Canadian Tire had it , I will get it there and take Home Depot fan back. I don't shop at Home Depot anymore they don't stand behind their warranties. Shop at RONA

It is annoying when I get lost. The signage could always be better. Perhaps an electronic catalog near the entrances, with links to the locations to find stuff, and an updated stock (in or out of...) status would be helpful

Stop by for tools and paint. Staffs are super friendly and reach out for help. They gave very useful advices and suggestions. I guess they key is shop during off peak hours, they will have more time for your questions.
