READ THIS REVIEW…….. I’m torn! The sausage & turkey are great, plus 2 staff people kept them from getting 1 star. Very disappointing food otherwise considering all the great reviews!?!? I had high hopes and won’t be back. Not Texas BBQ - or even close. HOWEVER - the STAFF is impeccable!! Better than most restaurants I’ve reviewed. (I rarely mention staff unless extremely bad or super outstanding, as in this case.) Cathy at the counter is extremely knowledgeable of everything on the menu (with details!) and was patient with me and very kind as I asked a million questions. And Harley at the bar is super friendly, excellent at keeping up with a busy bar and catches every detail to ensure you have a great experience. Together they made my experience so good that I would come back just because of them!!! Great job! I got 2 more drinks and stayed 2 hrs to hang out. And I NEVER do that! I’m in-and-out normally. (Hey owners & managers, give them a raise!) Ambiance is perfect for a BBQ place. Just what you would expect. Food came out quick (5-6 min) but was surprisingly cold… I mean “not warm”. By my 3rd bite - no warmth at all - ice cold. Obviously no heat lamp on the meats or kept in a warmer. Likely just kept on the cutting board for 20+ minutes until another portion is needed. Most disappointing!! Cold BBQ - really?!? Never had that before. At least the beans were warm… probably because they are in a hot pot. Duh! They have 5 sauces to fit any preferences. I enjoyed the Sweet Spot (molasses and brown sugar). Also have Carolina vinegar and mustard types plus spicy too. Sausage: Best thing on the menu (and turkey too). Pork blend pepper sausage. Excellent flavor and perfect light spices. Really enjoyable and I would eat it again. Turkey: Another best on the menu. Not brined or salty - or dry! Cooked only with salt, pepper and butter basted - a lot! The most moist turkey I’ve ever had at a BBQ place. Dripping moist - get it! Delicious. Brisket: (lean, fatty or mixed) The lean is incredibly moist - more than any other / not dry at all. Look close at photo & you will see it glistening! No smoke ring or char, but really nice. Baked beans: Butter beans, Lima beans, navy and kidney beans with sautéed onions. Good flavor and nice, but I’m Texan and regular baked beans are a staple. Ate 4-5 bites and did not take the rest home. Not my style but enjoyable. Pork Ribs: (beef available too but expensive!) Beautiful char and huge!! (About 10 inches each!) Very lean but are unfortunately bone dry and a bit pretty chewy for my liking (not tender fall off the bone like by friend Steve does them). Overall, not worth the drive unless you are close by chance. Only get the turkey, sausage or lean brisket. Good luck!

I was staying in Maclenny which is about 30 mins outside of Jacksonville For a family event. There was not much in the way of food close to the hotel so I started to google. The bearded pig popped up and I started reading the reviews. I decided to load the family up and take a chance and I'm so glad I did!! When we entered the staff was super pleasant, patient and helped us order since it was our fist time. We each ordered something different to try. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and 4 sides to share, baked beans, collards, potato salad and Mac n cheese. My 2 year old got the chicken nuggets and Mac n cheese. The nuggets were gone in a matter of seconds and then ate a few bites of Mac n cheese. She was clearly full. My sisters got the burnt ends and the rib tenders. The sauces are on the table. I used the OG and the mustard sauce (can’t remember the name. Both were delicious and not super heavy. There was not one thing that wasn't amazing! This is literally the best BBQ I have EVER had in Florida!! Actually the BEST BBQ I've ever had PERIOD!!! It's absolutely unbelievable. I will be taking the 4 1/2 hour drive north to come here again. It's so delicious!! We ordered baked beans to go!! Don't walk RUN to The Bearded Pig! You will NOT be disappointed! If you are ... look me up and I'll buy your dinner! Lol ohhh and go early so you can get the burnt ends. We got the last order around 630 pm. Last thing... it's super kid friendly so bring the kids, sit outside and get some chalk to write on the walls. They'll have a blast and a great meal! I'm not sure who the owners are but KUDOS to you for doing it right!! Please open a location in sunny south Florida (west palm beach) THANKS!

Pretty long wait in the line to order. No inside seating available. Still hate the tip before service, so inappropriate. We ordered several things to sample. It's a popular place, so its a decent wait for food. Colored wall outside with kids during wait. The meats, ribs, pulled pork, brisket etc all are very bland. No smoky flavors. The meats are all mostly soft and tender. Very oily and fatty. For my part, 1 rib, 2 THIN tiny slices of brisket, thin pulled pork sandwich, a kids meal, the 4 sides(2 not edible) 2 drinks it was almost $50. (2 adults, 1 kid). Most bbq places give you the big platters loaded up and free pork rinds or rolls. This is a hipster type place though, so slim pickins. The kids hot dogs are Nathan's brand and you get 2. Those and the French fries are great! The Mac and cheese or anything with the cheese sauce is just gross. If you have no real taste it won't bother you. My salad had lots of dirty unwashed parts and lots of rot, so gross. Our server was great but we had no cash to tip her not knowing ahead. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're a trendy type person. More bang for your buck elsewhere. And we don't have to sit out in the rain and humidity in Florida's heat waves. Toddlers and elderly heads up for that. Overall it's fair to good. Order yourself, seat yourself, clear your own table.

There's a wall in outside seating kids can draw on with chalk. Which was cool. Until parents who don't parent, show up with their unruly big kids. Ugh. And yeah, he's not hurting anyone or himself, but he's disrespecting you and everyone else and being a little terror. Try new takes...respect, societal rules, boundaries, empathy, morals, ethics for a few.

This place is absolutely incredible. Not only are you greeted by the amazing BBQ smells as soon as you walk in, friendly staff are happy to help and give you advice on just what to order if you're new. The atmosphere here is busy, but definitely laid back for guests who want to gosh on classic BBQ and sip a brew. The Kings sandwich is incredible, with different savory meats mixed with a dabble of cheese sauce, and a crunchy cool slaw that compliments it perfectly, you can't go wrong. The Mac and cheese is wonderful, but if they're in season, get the Brussel sprouts with parmesan. Be kind to your taste buds, and give them a chance to try the ghost pepper sauce. Just spicy enough, and oh so good. When you're done, do yourself a favor and get the banana pudding. It's not very thick, but it's sweet, with perfectly crunchy vanilla wafers on top. Locals know this spot is it, so if you're new in town, you've got to give this place a visit. You won't regret it. **parking is tight, so get here early!**

We attempted to eat dinner here on Sunday night. The restaurant was packed and it was pouring rain. We entered the restaurant and I got in line to order. My husband, who is using a cane to walk as he has braces on his knee and ankle and cannot stand for long, went to find us a table and sit down away from the crowd so he would not risk being pushed down. I was at the register ready to order when my husband came and found me, telling me that he had been made to move from where he was sitting as "people with food are waiting to sit down". So now, we have nowhere to sit and people are shoulder- to- shoulder holding plates of food with no where to go. I told the guy at the counter taking orders what had happened. At this point, he told me that he would not take our order until a manager came. So, we just gave up and left. No place to eat is worth all of this discord. We have always enjoyed our meals at both locations, but certainly will not return to this one.

The staff were nice and the beans were good BUT that's all. The tea was brackish and barely sweet. The brisket was 90% fat and barely warm. The pork ribs were enormous in size cool to luke warm in temperature, a bit under cooked and tough. They were too tough to bite or cut with the butter knife The chicken pieces were larger than normal, borderline undercooked and tough. We could not even separate the leg from the thigh. We did not eat our meal . I feel that a Google review speaks louder than complaining to a manager. We drove over an hour to get there. It's always nice to be greeted with a friendly face but we're sorely disappointed in our meal. The three stars are solely because of the friendliness of staff cleanliness of the establishment and for the tasty beans.

My friend took me to The Bearded Pig Sunday for my first time. We got there around 1 and it was busy but didn't have to wait to long to order. ***They are dog friendly!! You walk up to order your food, get your number and drink and find a seat. I ordered the pull pork sandwich and side of Mac and cheese. It was so yummy. Their sweet sauce is so good. I was thinking about my meal the next day. My friend got salad with pulled pork and a side of fries and she said it was really delicious as well. We sat on the patio with my friend's dog. They have bowls of water for the doggies. It was chilly that day and they have heaters out. The workers are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.

After some research, the reviews were showing Bearded Pig being one of the top BBQ joints in Jacksonville, I decided to try it out today. While all the meats had a really good flavor, the Rib meat was way tougher and fattier than I was expecting, either you could gnaw the meat off the bone or break out a fork and knife. In Georgia, we cook ribs so tender that you can pull the bone from the meat with our fingers. Their Brisket and Mac n' Cheese tasted really good though. The seasonal smoked corn was just eh'. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. If you found my review helpful, follow my local guide profile to see my experiences with other destinations!

It's been awhile since I've been to TBP, but came for lunch while on a shoot. Had a warm welcome when we walked in and food came out quickly. I got the brisket sandwich, fatty which was good, nice thick slices. I got cheese sauce on the side which I guess is pulled from the mac cause I had a noodle in it. Not a terrible thing just interesting. The mac itself, was alright. I recall it being pretty good the last time I came but idk, this wasn't the level of "mac from a bbq spot" a side that typically hits. The banana pudding was good but wasn't as thick, on the edge of being runny. Would come back.

Out of towners looking for lunch before a game and found The Bearded Pig on google. THANK GOODNES! The chicharron nachos were totally amazing. Sharing portion for sure, but you might not want to. We also had the poutine. This was a smaller portion but still jam packed with flavor. They have a few different bbq sauces at each table which was nice. The staff definitely adds to how great this place is. From the second you walk in, the interactions are positive and customer care is obviously prioritized. They were all so sweet and attentive. The entire restaurant, even the bathroom, was clean and neat. I highly recommend if you're in Jacksonville, stop in and get those chicharron nachos!

When you are walking from the end of the parking lot to the entrance of the restaurant and notice the pits giving off that lovely aroma, that is a good sign! I’m a tough critic when it comes to BBQ, and the brisket here passes the test. I got a combo sandwich (lean and fatty meat) and it was delightful. Packed with strong smoke essence, this was near perfect. The texture was moist and soft. There could have been more meat in there, sure. The sides are just okay. The Mac and cheese lacked seasoning, and the collards were too vinegary for me. I would have gotten some burnt ends too, but they sold out (around 1 PM on a weekday)

The Bearded Pig is my new favorite BBQ spot in town! They are affordable, delicious and pretty much awesome all the way around. Service is fast. Staff is helpful. Food is fresh and delicious. Atmosphere is amazing. Prices are fair. Freestyle machine allows you to get unique zero sugar sodas. There’s really nothing to complain about. I love the outdoor seating and good music. Ribs are gigantic. Pulled pork is great. Turkey is a winner. Chicken is solid. Baked beans are unique and tasty. Brussel Sprouts are seasonal and those are great as well. They have new sweet potato fries and I was surprised how much I enjoyed them. Banana pudding is to die for. I’m ready to try other items on the menu next time. 5/5 no question about it.

This restaurant was near our hotel, walking distance so we decided to try it out. No one greeted you or guided you to the ordering process. We ended up finding a table outside by a heater, (not much heat to cover outdoor seating). Had no menus so we went up and got one. Then realized we have to order up front and take order number to table to be served. One of our items, the Breaded Poutine had one left and when it was delivered, was 3/4 the size. Don't know if they scraped the bottom of the pan. Their mac and cheese tasted like water no cheese, brisket was reheated and soggy. Their sauces were watered down as well. The only positive was the French fries, ribs and smoked chicken wings.

  • Elizabeth Kelly

The place was a little crowded and the line to get a drink was confusing, and had people fighting over their spot in line. I thought the food was pretty good though! It was smoky meat so if that’s your thing you will probably like this style of barbecue. I was not a fan of the coleslaw

I heard so much great stuff about the place, so I decided to give it a try. My husband and I both ordered the "San Marco". Everything was so tender and tasty. The brisket just melts in your mouth and the banana pudding is awesome. The people were so friendly and down to earth. Perfect atmosphere for dining inside or out. I would love to see them put another restaurant around the Yulee or Fernandina Beach area.

First time at this restaurant and it was great! Got the big platter with four meats and way more than I could eat but perfect for 2 people or bring some home for the next day. Believe me I know good barbecue being from NC and this is tremendously good BBQ. XXX sauce was hot but had a great taste. Unfortunately not a fan of the mustard based gold sauce being usually one of my favorites. Most of the others I tried were excellent. Great location and very clean design inside and out. Employees were some of the best I have had the pleasure of being around. Great attitudes! I was with my daughter and we had a lot of time to talk and catch up. Enjoy the pictures!

What is not to like? Great food, service, and atmosphere. They are doing something right, because I visited on a Tuesday and this place was packed. I had the wing special and beef brisket with collards and side salad. The food waa very good, but I will say the collards were not my favorite. Everything was presented very well and the staff was welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommend.

Each visit, I've always received great customer service. Top 3 items for me are the Beans, Brisket and fries. Those didn't last long, Picture unavailable Now, The Mac n cheese is just okay with an okay flavor, it's basic but good for the most part. I do wish that they would give you atleast 4 nice size slices of lean brisket. I do love the pickles Be aware, those onions are super strong and will funk up your car and break room, etc.

So we tried The Bearded Pig, and WOW. It was awesome! The ribs are incredible! They're a dry rub which i prefer, so if your a saucy rib person (like my crazy GF) you might be just slightly disappointed. Trust me though they'll even get approval from the Saucy Rib crowd. Great atmosphere, service was top notch even during dinner rush. But, the best part.......the beans...the English language has no description for the beans. The.....best....beans....ever....I've been to 1000's of BBQ places across the country, never had beans like that. If nothing else try the beans

Brisket sandwich 9/10, lots of meat on a soft bun. Wings 8/10 crispy and a good size. Perfect to add thier sauces on. Ribs 8/10, lots of flavor and good texture. Fries 9/10, these are crispy and seasoned lightly. Ambiance: Indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor has a canopy with fans and tables with umbrellas. Loud fun environment with a bar. Parking: They have a free lot behind the building. It can be hard to get a spot when they are busy.

I had the brisket sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. I was not disappointed with the brisket. The reviews say Mac and cheese isn’t the best side and I’ll agree but it wasn’t bad. I also had banana pudding. Hmmm not enough bananas and more pudding but it was good. Friendly service, quick and fast, the tables cleaned off. Great place to bring an out of town guest, have a special lunch, or just your lunch break. They are busy but keep it all moving. Will be back again and highly recommended if you are near or far.

The Mac and cheese taste box made, I have NEVER had potato salad with raw green beans and purple onions, and the only thing I liked was the brisket. When we came in one person told us they would come take our order then and older rude white haired lady yelled at us that we had to come place our order. Everything lacked flavor. We were referred by the lady at the marriage chapel downtown in Jacksonville and she need to stop sending people there.

Whenever I fly to Jacksonville, Florida, I always come here now. The bbq food is the best I've had in a long time. Better than most places Ive tried in Texas. I recommend fatty brisket (or mix fat-lean) and collard greens. The pulled pork are done correctly (not dry tasty). The pork ribs, Jalapeno poppers & wings were surprising amazing. My cousin loves their Cole slaw. I haven't had their turkey and beef ribs. Next time I will aim for them. I recommend coming around 11am or after 12pm. Place gets packed but line moves. Friendly service. Big space. Check it out!

  • Jhanelle Evans

We went to visit the jacksonville zoo and decided to stop by for lunch. Every meat that I tasted was good down to the bone! Well seasoned & smoked. The fries were also hot (fresh). The staff was very professional the entire time. The sides that I tasted needed some love. The potatoes for the potato salad needed to cook a little longer. The Mac n cheese that I tasted was creamy or cheesy at all. With saying all of this, I would definitely recommend this location for a good atmosphere filled with professional staff, good meat, and a great selection for drinks.

My wife and I 1st visit. Marcus was GREAT, (very professional friendly and energetic)!!! He talked up the smoked wings, and boy was he right, they were world class. Although he failed tell us the collard greens would be some of the best I’ve EVER eaten!!! We enjoyed the upbeat, lively yet family friendly environment. Highly recommend, the collards, poutine, and smoked wings.

My boyfriend brought a few things home from this place randomly saying everyone was talking about it. We were unsure about the vegan sides but we were shocked at how good it was especially the greens. The greens were a work of art..god bless all of you! This food is spiritual-this food is a life experience lol! I'm sorry i ever went too bonos! Compared to the bearded pig it was disrespectful too the art the bearded pig create with food! Good prices.

Wonderful food and great people. This was some of the best barbecue I've had anywhere. I'd skip the pulled pork next time. It was good but not special. The atmosphere is great loved the outdoor seating and bar area. The food is good but for us the ribs were not done enough not fall off the bone type. The sides were ok. Was hoping for more impressive sides. We had brisket, ribs, pulled pork sandwich, fries, sweet potato waffle fries, baked beans, slaw, Mac n cheese and side salad and some brews. The brisket, sour peach beer, baked beans and fries were the highlights for us.

The meat was good, but the sides have changed. The Mac n’ Cheese is completely different (penne pasta with a cheese sauce) and the baked beans are completely different. Not anything close to what southern baked beans are. They use a bean variety of. Lima beans, pinto beans, and some others cooked with sugar. Nothing BBQ about them. I only ate the meat and left everything else. Quite disappointed.

It was my first time here and all I can say is that I won't be going back. The meat was mediocre and extra fatty, the jalapeno poppers were over-grilled causing them to be small, I asked for bread slices and was told they only had rolls. Once the food got to our table it had 2 pickles and 3 slices of onion. If you're going to charge high dollar BBQ prices please bring a higher quality product.

Excellent food. The moist brisket was amazing as were the ribs, and the sausage was tasty. Had so much food I had to pack up my platter so I'll have to report on the chicken later. My friend enjoyed his sandwich (the "Kings") and service was friendly and efficient. I think it beats out our previous favorite BBQ place. Definitely worth checking out. The XXX sauce (ghost pepper and habanero) had a little kick to it but it wasn't omg-fiery and tasty.

  • Ira Goldstein

Had a multi-meat sandwich, which was topped with coleslaw and bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers. Wow. Those poppers made the sandwich. The sausages were flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Level of smoke was perfect on the brisket and pulled pork An excellent BBQ experience. Nice to be able to sit outside; staff were all friendly and efficient. A "must" for BBQ lovers in Jax.

Cole slaw, potato salad, and mac and cheese were all great as well and served in moderate portions...so often I eat at a barbecue restaurant and they overload you with sides...not so much here...I left satisfied on flavor and portion size. Great outdoor space for kids as well. Staff friendly and easy parking across the street.

This place was great. It was listed in the top ten of Jacksonville or something like that, so we decided to give it a try. It was great, very busy but still had good service. The food was soooo good. Next time, I will just order that Poutine appetizer with a side of brussels as my meal.

What a fantastic place to eat. The collard greens are a must. The brisket pulls apart effortlessly and melts in your mouth like butter. They also have several different sauces to compliment their flavors. Don't tell my wife, but I think they make some of the best mac-n-cheese I've ever had. The staff is hilarious, there's plenty of outdoor seating, and the food comes out right away. Delicious BBQ

Absolutely one of the best brisket sandwiches Ive had anywhere. Very cool atmosphere especially on a sunny day with the large garage type doors opened. If you like good craft beer and great bbq this is your place!

Good location. Would have rated it higher, except for the allowance of Dogs and Pets near open food. That can't be sanitary. Next time I will just order to go. Food was good and good size portions.

Get the brisket and the French fries! You won't be sorry. Also the nutella brownie sundae was magical as well. The place has a great patio to hang out on a nice evening and the staff were all very friendly.

Let me start by saying waiting in line is totally worth it! Get there early though. We ordered the spare ribs, there are different sauces to try each was delicious. The ribs were tender, juicy and so good! Service was excellent and the beer selection was good. There is bar sitting and outdoor sitting as well. Highly recommend you try this place you wont be disappointed.

Tried this place when the original BBQ joint was closed. So happy that I did. The food was amazing. The cheerfulness of the staff taking orders was fun. Will definitely be back. I had smoked turkey and pulled pork with the crispy brussel sprouts (OMG so good)

This place has a walk through ordering then seating. They being the food to your table. Lots to choose from bbq and have a great kids menu. Local brews on draft and an awesome outdoor patio seating. The children had fun drawing on the walls with chalk. Saw few tables with their four legged family members as well! Food was great! The banana pudding was delicious too

I love this restaurant. The people are huge and the good had a ton of flavor. I got the brisket and the iron I was with got the beef rib. Both were excellent. The prices are reasonable and I will be going back the next time I attend an event in downtown Jax. The beef rib is excellent and enough for two.

The bar is full service and ya won't have to stand in line. Got the San Marco platter with brisket lean/fat combo, white chicken, sausage, ribs, crispy brussell sprouts & fries. Nothing needed any type of sauce. Flavors are robust. Brussell sprouts an excellent paring. The only caveat is the brisket was cool. Everything else was perfect temperature.

  • Jack Lafleur

The pork and ribs are very good, the brisket if fine. But the mac and cheese is an insult to mac and cheese, not sure why they would serve something like it. Had to ask for my ordered in store take out order as I was waiting for a while. Turns out it was placed in the online order pickup section.

Food had no flavor. We got the pulled pork. Tastes like its baked and not smoked. The burnt ends are amazing. The ranch dressing is very watery. Gave 3 stars because the burnt ends were really good other than that the BBQ is mediocre and does not live up to the hype

Food was so good we had to go back and order a tray of sides. First BBQ place to actually ask for cut of brisket (lean, fatty, or mix). Nothing bad to say. From the cashier that took our order, speed of service, taste of food... Definitely a top contender! We will be back Everytime we are in town! Great job all!

Best bbq in town! Brisket & pulled pork are no-brainers, always juicy & flavorful. Sat at the counter, ordered within minutes & received my lunch in less than 5 minutes! Can't beat the Bearded Pig!!!!

Pulled pork was a bit dry and really had to soak it in bbq sauce to give it any flavor. Mac and cheese was pretty pain for a bbq joint. My son's chicken nuggets and my French fries were pretty good, so they are not bad at operating the friers.

Food is absolutely amazing here! From the vibe of the place to their many different sauces. They have a wonderful place outside in which you can draw on the walls with chalk that is a delight for the kids (and even the kids at heart). Prices are great for the amount of food you get as well.

  • Joel Sierra

You ever seen previous reviews and tempered your expectations? Well at The Bearded Pig, they are exceeded. Great food, tasty meat, well prepared, well seasoned! Staff is awesome, friendly and patient. Must visit in Jacksonville. Laid back ambiance, great for food with friends!

The only thing I really dislike as a southerner is the Sweet Tea ain't sweet . When I think of BBQ I think of good old fashioned sweet tea. You know the kind that when the ice melts it's still bussin just get Coke.

Fantastic barbecue option close to downtown Jacksonville. If you can’t decide what to try, opt for the King Sandwich - it’s basically a sampler on a bun with pork, brisket, sausage, jalapeño poppers, & slaw! Bottom line - you can’t go wrong here - come with an appetite!

  • B B

The food was pretty good. The establishment is pretty open, big window and big open doors lead to an outdoor patio, pretty cool. The only thing that was very annoying were all those tiny bugs, they were flying everywhere.

  • C P

The food was perfect. Nice atmosphere. You stand in line to order then sit down and food brought out to you. Please do remember to tip though, they work so hard!

Self-Service BBQ. There is a lack of diversity in the place. I got the full rack spare ribs, king burger, brisket sandwich and the wings. It’s a solid restaurant.
