Updating a 5 star review I gave in 2021 based on my May 2022 experience: Today I got the worst haircut I have ever had. I don’t know what happened but there seemed to be a HUGE breakdown in communication. I showed the stylist two photos of my hair and said I wanted a short cut somewhere between the two. I wasn’t able to see clearly without my glasses. At one point I said my hair had never been so short before, and she stopped cutting. I have ended up with the shortest hair I have had since the age of 2. It is absolutely terrible. She didn’t bother to show me the back - probably because it is worse than the front. This was the work of a senior stylist at senior stylist prices - not a trainee. A truly bad experience. UPDATED to note that the salon manager has worked very hard to address the issue, including offering a full refund now or a free cut in the future. As well, the amazing Lexi was enlisted to fix what could be fixed. I have been happy with Echo’s work in the past, so instead of accepting a refund, I plan to return for the free cut when my hair is long enough.

Absolutely thrilled with Aleja's expertise! Before my appointment with her, I had a hard time knowing how to best style my thin and frizzy curls. Aleja not only transformed my curls during our appointment, but she also provided invaluable guidance on how to best use the tools I already had at home – from hair products to my trusty brush for curly hair and diffuser. It's been a game-changer for styling my curls on my own. What stood out most was Aleja's personalized approach. She is a rarity in Kingston, where curl specialists are hard to come by. In our consultation, she attentively listened to my goals, delivering a haircut that not only flatters my face but aligns perfectly with my hair type and preferences. Aleja's work is truly exceptional, and I'm grateful for the knowledge (and gorgeous cut!) I've gained from our appointment. Curly haired girlies - your hair is in the right hands with Aleja.

Alanna (the owner) and her staff are simply amazing. I would highly recommend this place. They offer so many services and are very thoughtful when it comes to the choice of product lines they carry, or how they price (ie non-gendered pricing) The salon embodies a safe inclusive and fun atmosphere, and there are colourful touches everywhere. There are plants and art and little porcelain mushrooms! You feel right at home here, and yet the salon is large enough to accommodate large bridal parties! My team recently photographer a wedding where the bride and her party got their hair and makeup there - they all had so much fun and the photos captured a lot of laughter. Outside there is a really nice path that leads to the salon, with a bench and greenery. The location is perfect. Highly recommend!

Today I went here to meet Kris for the first time, I didn’t know what to expect. I was met at the door with very welcoming comforting staff, offered tea and a nice seat to relax. Once I was in the chair Kris listened to what I wanted done to my hair, explained the process and made me feel like all my needs were heard. Let me tell you this girl blew me away with her skills!! I walked in with my natural brown blah hair and walked out with exactly what I wanted bombshell blonde . I am truly blown away!! Not only was she amazing at hair but she felt my vibe, we talked when I wanted and I was able to sit quietly ( which I do enjoy) when I wanted without any awkwardness. I 1000% highly recommended her, you will not be disappointed.

I will scream this from the rooftops but Kris is absolutely THEEEEE stylist to see here. She’s amazingly talented, is so good at pivoting with last minute changes and ideas and not even thinking twice about it. She listens to every idea you have and more, and does her best to make sure you leave feeling happy, confident and beautiful. I haven’t felt this pretty in a long time. She’s so personable and easy to get along with, and all the other stylists are incredibly friendly and professional, too. You can tell the environment is cozy and happy. Love it here.

I got my hair done by Courtney ( Elemental Beauty Alchemist on Instagram ) and I can say she is amazing, and such a talented stylist! She kills it every time!! She makes this mama feel like her self again! She exceeds all my expectations! If you are looking for someone to make your hair look amazing you should go with Courtney! She always makes sure Im comfortable and listens to what I want! She is also a lovely person and makes the appointment so personable, fun and relaxing! ❤️

I have been seeing Heather my stylist for over 10 years. She is incredibly skilled and a very talented stylist. There is no one else I trust with my hair. I always walk out with the perfect colour and cut and feel beautiful every time. The staff at The Artistry Collective are very friendly and kind and always welcome you with smiles. Rebecca at the front desk is very helpful and is just wonderful. 10/10 recommend this salon. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely in love with Susan! She did such a great job on my haircut, I could not stop smiling the entire time. She matched what I wanted perfectly and was extremely detailed in her work. I had such a great experience and really felt like she was giving her best effort in providing a quality experience and result. This is so important from a customer service perspective. I am so thrilled and happy with my new hair and can't wait to go back soon!

We always love our time at the Artistry Collective! The energy in the space is light and easy, while the Colours and art in the environment are bright and uplifting. The haircuts are priced by length rather than gender (which amplifies the space’s outspoken commitment to diversity and inclusion). And who can forget to mention the luscious complimentary hot cocoa that I love to sip while my hair is being snipped!

My stylist is Courtney and she is amazing! She truly does miracles with your hair her extensions and colours are always spot on! Aside fron my wonderful stylist, everyone at this salon is very friendly and welcoming! Always chatting and making you feel comfortable. They accommodated me last minute and even went out of their way to offer to help my stylist if she needed so I could be seen today!

I had a wonderful experience getting a dry cut by Aleja! I have a curly hair (3a/3b) and Aleja really spent time creating a cut appropriate for my curl patterns, and showing me how to style my hair. She knew I wanted a low-maintenance cut that didn't require many products and complicated styling, and she gave me a very relaxed cut that I can sleep on and rock on! Highly recommend!

Let’s put it this way, I drive down from Ottawa to get my hair done by Alexis. I’m a natural redhead and do not trust anyone with my hair but her. The shop itself is so beautiful & inviting, it was my first time at this location and I am not disappointed. It’s also awesome how there’s parking for the shop so you don’t need to find parking downtown. 10/10 recommend it to anyone :)

Kris is a real talented hairdresser. It is my first time to visit hair salon in Canada. Before I visited this hair salon, I was worried about my hair cut. But after I got my hair cut by Kris, I really satisfied. I just showed her a picture of the hairstyle I wanted, and she made it exactly as same as it! Thank you Kris :) I’ll visit again later!

Each time I’ve been to The Artistry Collective, they’ve knocked it out of the park. Kris and Ricky made me feel so dang beautiful, they did such a great job. Kris is a magician! She took my hair from dark black box dye hair to an amazing copper colour! There was struggles through my appointment with my hair not taking to the dye but Kris was amazing and keep reassuring me that everything will work out! Highly highly recommend Kris and The Artistry Collective!

Great styling and great service! Staff have been friendly, helpful, and considerate on every visit. Alanna is a total expert with vivid colors and creating volume. Having fashion colors can make it tricky to find a good stylist and salon but I’ve loved my experience with The Artistry Collective!

As soon as I walked into Artistry collective I was super comfortable, from being created by Emma, to bring offered coffee and sitting down for a trim with Alanna! The vibe was calling, relaxing and enjoyable. If your looking for the best of the best I highly recommend Alanna! Best experience!

What a happy, busy salon! Emily(my daughter) gave me beautiful highlights with expert help from Lexi. And I got a an updated style that shows off my curls. Heather was so patient and helpful with tips for cutting curls. I feel like a queen today.

Prices are not reasonable i have super short hair and still charged over 300 plus 40 on top for blow drying which should of been included when your already paying high prices. Super disappointed as i did love my hair but way overcharged.

I just had an awesome haircut with Aleja! The stylist totally gets curly hair vibes. I went for a dry cut and my waves have never looked better. They nailed the texture too. I highly recommend Aleja for anyone with curls or waves!
