What a great way to spend a lazy Sunday looking through the historic Tasmanian Transport Museum at Glenorchy. I took my kids aged 5 & 7 and they had a ball. Plenty of old fire engines, old trams, buses, & an arrange of different trains. You can also walk in them all & explore their history. My kids loved making out they were driving them steering and walking up stairs to the top deck was their fav. The toilets are very clean and spacious. The staff are very friendly. The main passenger train runs all day up-and-down up-and-down, we went on around 4-5 times. Yes it’s not that long but it’s still great. The museum has a lot of history for the oldies & all the train lovers. And finally, the best thing is the price in this day and age. It’s surprisingly still very cheap to get through the gate. $6 for the kids & $11 for a adult concession $12 for none concession, you Can’t beat that. 10/10 Thanks Guys we will be back

We have come several times on open days. Each time there are different things to look at in the large sheds and a different train running along the track to ride on. We have come with our son from about 2 yrs old, now 4. He really enjoys it so much. It is easy to spend 2 or 3 hours with him here riding the train and clinbing around and exploring the others on show. He really gets so much out of this small by very lovely museum run by enthusiasts. We particularly enjoy the modle train show days, which I believe is an annual event. So please don't miss this weekend from your calendars!

Really interesting and passionate bunch of volunteers. My toddlers excitement for all vehicles was definitely captured here. Great to be able to go on the steam train. Check their Facebook page for details. Need more info plaques, interesting stories and seating.

A fantastic museum containing historic busses and fire engines, trains and trams. The operators have captured historic and significant vehicles and have a wonderful display. The guides are informative, genuine and down to earth retired Fire Fighters. A great experience and worth it. Donate and keep the place open for generations to come.

Had a really good time with the kids exploring their collection of steam trains and diesel electric trains. They also have trams, buses and fire engines. Really enjoyed the steam day kids had fun riding the rails and talking to the operators of the train. All in all a very good place to visit to look at historical steam power.

What a gem of a place. We'd taken our 4 grandchildren. They loved it ! The train rides were a hit and they were unlimited. Definitely a trip down memory lane for us adults and it was lots of fun for the whole family. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

There is a wonderful array of buses, trams, fire engines, diesel trains and most immortality, steam engines. With work progressing and recent news of possible opening up of some mainline there are hopes for running steam in the near future. Volunteers are friendly and like a chat. Very informative, too.

We went as a group, very interesting the history of Transportation in Tasmania. Plenty to see and volunteer staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Our whole group thougherly enjoyed the experience.

Great family location. Plenty of heritage trams, buses, trains and vehicles. The train ride was enjoyed by the children and whilst the journey is short, you can go as many times as you want. Staff are friendly and informative.

Great interactive thing for younger kids. Ride the train as many times as you'd like, we managed 4 rides in a couple of hours. Great entry price and very friendly staff/volunteers. Great history to teach the kids as well.

This was so much fun took me back to when i was a kid and i could show my two grandsons so much of our past and history everywhere

I'm not so interested in this as much as my husband but we both had a blast here. Really cool stuff, very original and lovely keeper. Also loved the original advertisements in the trams and buses. It is a must see.

Enjoyed our visit to the museum. A nice collection of vintage trains, trams and buses set out in an orderly manner. Learnt lots about the vehicles and worth a visit. Volunteer staff were friendly and welcoming.

Lots of things to look at. Went when steam train was running which was an excellent experience. 2 year old that loves trains had a great time. Volunteers very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions.

Thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon with my grandson who loves trains. The staff there really went out of their way to make it entertaining. A wonderful asset in the local community of Glenorchy. More

Great museum for anyone who love trains and interacting with stuff. The train ride was brilliant, and they have heaps of open trains and trams you can walk through and "drive". Great for kids.

We enjoyed the visit and all the people here are friendly and helpful. The displays are in good condition and you'll learn something about the history of trains, trams and busses in Tasmania

Had a party here for little boy. No hire fee just admission costs. Staff friendly and helpful. Awesome train and unlimited rides. Great for kids and adults. Perfect for school excursions.

A good few hours had by all. Too bad the train ride was only short but nice to see the Old Girl run. Will be back after my hip replacement to go onto the steam train engines.

Went there over half a decade ago or even more but the train rides were fun and the museum is very interesting. Hope they keep this running for many years to come.

This is really amazing place. It's shows how British era had organised transport system which left behind by tasmania

Fantastic day out with 13 year old son. He loved it, and wants to come back in two weeks for the steam train rides.

You'll find one of the original abt locomotives that have been here since 1963. A lot of tasmanian rail history :)

If you enjoy historical transport that includes trams, steam and diesel trains then you should enjoy this museum.
