First time ordering sushi at Sushi Ai. The other sushi place we usually pick up from is closed on Sundays. We were pleasantly surprised by our order. We ordered their largest party platter with some veggie and yam tempura. The party platter had a good variety of rolls to choose from. It is actually better than the platter we get at the other sushi place. It would be good to know if you had an option of switching some rolls for other faves we would prefer. Next time. We were very happy with their tempura. The yam tempura is a fave and happy that it was a large portion. Food came packed neatly and looked as good as it tasted. We will order again and when Covid restrictions end have dine in experience. Small dining restaurant with lots of parking in front. The staff were friendly and informative when we ordered.

One of our favourite go to sushi places in Winnipeg! Definitely bang for your buck in terms of quality and price, this place never disappoints and is always consistently good. Visited Saturday for lunch, started off with shrimp tempura which is your average tempura nothing exceptional or bad about it, then had tuna and salmon sashimi which was good but would have preferred larger cuts of fish, then we had some fatty tuna, red tuna, salmon, fatty salmon and unagi nigiri which were all very good! They make very good sushi rice. To finish things off we had a Maple roll which was good but the mango on it was a bit too tart for my taste. Overall Sushi Ai never fails to satisfy our sushi itch.

Great sushi. It is the “” go to “ Takeout for us in the area of South Saint Vital. Man is the service horrible. Our orders are usually north of $100 and I Never feel appreciated as a regular customer the person taking my money she is usually very short and does not even look at me. It could be a cultural thing, but in my eyes that is not acceptable where down the street I get very warm, welcomes, and very good customer service. That can be improved. I would love to leave a glowing review of this place.

It’s seems like the ownership been changed. We went there for over $100 sushi pick up for a dinner, it was just bad quality and it’s over priced for sure. I was there with the time but waited inside for over 10 mins and the food was bad. The salmon and tuna are very fishy just don’t taste fresh. The presentation and quality of the food is just so poorly made. The amount of salmon or tuna you got inside your sushi is very tiny and small just like for decoration purposes only. I won’t return and won’t suggest anyone go there anymore for poor quality sushi there.

We used to frequent Sushi Ai but it seems to have change ownership as service, presentation; and restaurant cleanliness have all gone downhill recently. We were the only table of four after the lunch rush and it took quite awhile for the server to take our order as she stood behind the desk looking at her phone. Not only that, all of the other empty tables were not bussed the entire time we were there and the floor was visibly very dirty. Unfortunate to see this happen to a former favourite sushi spot in the neighbourhood. Sushi was still delicious but not as nicely presented as before. Would still maybe recommend as a take out spot.

Sushi itself was meh , it’s a slight step above buying from sobeys. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling so dehydrated/ hungover even though I didn’t drink . I can only assume it’s from the mass salt they used in the rolls . Everyone do yourself a favour and just go to and order from sushi n, 2 blocks further on st Anne’s. They were closed for a family event this weekend, which is what we tried the sushi ai .which I might add was more money, smaller fish portion and lesser quality. Would not recommend Go to sushi n

I have been coming this restaurant for over years and I always had good experience. They have lots of choices on sushi roll and sometimes they let me customize so that i can have my perfect roll! Service is good too. Staffs are always nice and kind. The only thing is this place doesn’t have lots of tables, you better make a reservation if you are more than 5 people. One more good thing is if your takeout order is more than $40 or $70, they give you 5% or 7% discount! I brought a lot of friends here and every time my friends were 100% satisfied. Highly recommend this place to who love sushi!

It had been over a year since I last ate here. They have made some really nice changes since then. They got some new chairs, which are very comfortable! The food was amazing! I think they have made some good improvements here. The presentation of the food is really nice, the portions are good, and it is reasonably priced. Some sushi places feel quite expensive for what you get, but you can get a nice selection of sushi for a good price. Service was also really good. Overall a really good experience with a nice, relaxing environment inside. Highly recommend.

The best dragon roll in town! Great service too. -UPDATE Nov 2017: It seems like the restaurant changed their menu and the food doesn't taste the same anymore. Rip delicious dragonroll. They added avocado and it doesn't taste as rich as it used to be. I always come here for the sushi party platter but they changed that as well. The platter is now a fixed set and you can no longer choose your rolls. On the plus side, they have improved the ambiance and furniture but it means nothing is the food isn't as good.

2 tables other than us and we waited nearly an hour for our food to arrive. 1 staff member to serve and take phone orders. Was on phone most of time. Was pleasant but will likely look elsewhere from now on. Used to be our favorite place but has gone downhill since ownership changed once or twice sadly

I waited in the parking lot for them to open at 4pm. When I walked in at 4pm, I noticed the tables and floor were dirty, really dirty. I asked the host why is the restaurant not clean? Her reply was that they didn't bother to clean it when they closed on Sunday. Today is Monday. Disgusting . Got up and left, did not order. I used to come here as it was very good, but will not be returning.

Excellent restaurant. The service was quick without kicking us out too soon, our meal was delicious and well plated, and the atmosphere was cozy. It is smaller than expected, so I wouldn't take a large group (more than four) without resevations, however it makes it feel intimate inside. Good parking available out front as well, and a nice, quiet location in St. Vital. I plan to return and would recommend this sushi place to my friends and family.

Wow I am sorry but 1 year ago I had a 5 star rating for Sushi ah becuase when the new owners took over it was amazing. Food was just like the photos and i had no problem paying slightly more for the food. Now my same order is rice wrapped in seaweed. Even our basic roll I order a california roll... rice, thin slice of immitation crab and no fish eggs? I had reccommended you to 10s of people that have also reviewed you highly on the past

This is my favorite sushi place and i’ve been to a lot of different ones! Fav appetizer is the shrimp tempura, fav rolls are the TNT roll, lobster roll, shrimp tiger, volcano roll with nacho chips and the sunflower. There are only a few tables and it is always busy. The sushi is fresh and if you eat in they have nice plate presentation. Unfortunately they don’t have a website, only instagram and the menu is hard to read, kind of blurry.

The food was amazing, the service was spectacular, they went above and beyond! One of the restaurant staff personally delivered an item that the driver left behind. Very friendly, offered options, they apologized, threw in free drinks and an included a hand written note.

Sushi Ai is my favourite sushi spot to go to. It's too bad that I don't live in the area. When I do come here I love to get their ACC roll (avocado, cucumber, and cream cheese) I crave it all the time! All their sushi rolls are also delicious. I've never had a bad experience here. The service is great and when I do take out the food is also very good. My only complaint is that it is a small place so seating is limited.

We have been going here for years. Recently it changed management again. Food was very good but the service was very poor. Our server took our order and brought us our food but after that he never came back to ask how our meal was, didn't ask if we wanted a more tea or water. And we had asked for extra wasabi and ginger but didn't get extra. The servers were so much better before. Wish they would of kept them.

Easily one of the WORST sushi places I've been to in all of Winnipeg, and I've been to more than 10. I swear to God I genuinely felt like throwing up. Rolls had: Dragon, Rainbow, Maple, Lobster, and Spicy Salmon. Every single one of them are rolls that are very delicious at other places, but at this place they are inedible.

The absolute best sushi in Winnipeg. Have tried many sushi places in Winnipeg and some come close but none have perfected the rice like Sushi Ai has. The price and the portions are perfect and I’ve never felt disappointed. Service is great and employees are friendly. Make sure to order ahead of time because this place is very busy but is well worth the wait. I highly recommend the Alaska roll!

Medium Sushi Tray and Sashimi Set. Could clearly see why their competitor Sushi N is more crowded. Because the shape, thickness and stickiness of rolls were not consistent, rolls were scattered on the chopsticks, hard to eat. Rice used tends to be drier than other place, contributes to lack of texture and shape. Stepped into this place with exclamation mark but leaving with question mark.

UPDATE... STILL FANTASTIC FRESH SUSHI!!! Enjoyed with a nice hot green tea, miso soup and their shrimp tempura is STILL THE BEST!!! We always went to SushiN but tried this when SushiN was closed. This is now our sushi restaurant. All fresh, and great tasting. The tuna is always good. And the shrimp tempura is great. The place is always clean and neat. The owners are always friendly.

My new go to for sushi in the South of Winnipeg. Some stand out rolls were the TNT, Rainbow, and Lobster. Nicely cooked rice, fresh ingredients, and friendly staff. As well as reasonable prices. Although, the spicy tuna in the Spring Tuna roll tasted like canned tuna, won't be ordering any with spicy tuna again. I look forward to trying some of their other rolls next time.

I really don't know how this place has such a high rating.... solo many places better than this with worse ratings. The restaurant was dirty, chairs and tables gross... loud And to top it off the sushi is sub-par. I'm rating a one to try to take the average down.. really the place is a 3 at best. Bland tasteless sushi in a crappy, dirty loud restaurant

Ordered takeout, it was ready in a reasonable time, and was reasonably priced. Given that context, it tasted very good for what I paid for it. The variety of rolls in the medium platter was nice, and was perfect for 4-5 people.

We were a huge supporter of this restaurant in years past. We'd been going once a week for 5 years. The first time we went when under new management, the rolls and food quality did not even come close to the previous owner. Haven't been back since. We are still looking for a new favorite sushi place in the South St Vital area....

I no longer live in winnipeg, but every time I come visit Sushi Ai is a must! Their rolls are incredible, the best I have ever had across Canada! Atmosphere is great and the owner is so kind, he always recognizes me no matter how long it has been! Best place around! Worth the drive if your from the other end of the city!

Very good and friendly service. Food is great though a little slow but the waitress kept appolising. We have no problems. She even presented my mom with a mooncake to take home. It is mid-autum festival today.My mom who is 92 years was very appreciative of her good manner and kind justure. We will certainly return.

The chairs are very large and comfy with big squishy cushions on the bottom and back. Would come back again and again!

Excellent atmosphere, very comfy chairs, prompt and attentive service. The food was tasty and very well presented. We ordered california and dynamite rolls as well as the assorted sashimi. Only suggestion would be to bring the rolls out for guests at the same time. Highly recommended and will return.

The worst dining experience. My husband didn't receive items he ordered, we were never checked up on during the meal, and why was everything watered down?? The wasabi, the soy sauce, the miso soup..?? All watered down as much as possible and had no taste. Terrible. Will never come back.

Ordered the Medium Party Tray #192 this evening and it was excellent. We ordered it for 2 people but easily would have fed another 1.5. We will definitely be ordering from Sushi Ai again. The staff was also super nice when I went in to pick up the order.

Really nice atmosphere inside and nicely decorated. Good sushi and very beautifully presented but slightly expensive for my taste. I'm a first time guest so I can't attest to the other reviewers mentioning the menu/food changes under the new management.

We have been here a couple times, I do enjoy dining in but we have gotten take out the last couple times obviously due to Covid. I'm not impressed with the spicy mango shrimp...not gonna lie Wasabi does it the best, but everything else I had was good.

Sushi Ai is one of the most amazing restaurants I have tried in Winnipeg. Not only is it great for me being a seafood lover, also my partner who is vegetarian has a lot of options. All in all, its amazing. I order from here every 2 weeks. Major love.

This place is cozy. Staff are friendly. They have great selection of rolls and appetizers. I have been to this place a few times already and will definitely go back. The only downside is sometimes there might be a waiting period before you're seated.

Nobu's Sashimi will be perfect for a newcomer of sashimi! For those who aren't familiar with raw fish will be perfect. It's a little cooked and is served with special soy sauce so I enjoyed it as a special kind of dish! Isn't the dish colourful?
