Subject: Disappointing Experience with Sun Auto Service I recently took my 2004 GMC truck to Sun Auto Service for an oil change, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. I feel compelled to share my concerns and frustrations with the hope that improvements can be made. Upon arrival, I requested that the grease fittings be lubricated, as indicated on their website that they "lube the chassis." To my surprise, I was informed that they didn't have a grease gun. This discrepancy raised questions about the accuracy of their advertised services. Furthermore, I asked for my tires to be rotated, and although I paid for the service, there was no evidence that it was actually performed. When inquiring about crucial details such as air pressure, tire wear, and brake pad life, I was disappointed to find nothing documented on the invoice. The most alarming part was the misinformation regarding tire pressure. The service writer noted that all tires were set to 35 pounds, contradicting the manufacturer's specifications of 50 pounds in the front and 80 pounds in the rear. Upon checking at home, the pressures were correct, highlighting a lack of attention to detail and possibly a lack of proper inspection. Despite my attempts to address these issues with the store manager, I received no callback, further adding to my dissatisfaction. This experience has left me questioning the quality of service provided by Sun Auto. It's disheartening to think that a company prioritizes volume over the quality of service. Potential customers deserve transparency and reliability, which, unfortunately, I did not experience with Sun Auto Service. I hope my feedback serves as a constructive critique, prompting Sun Auto to reevaluate their service standards and communication practices. I feel ever 1 star is to much

I came here to get a oil change and a driver side axel replaced and they quoted me 4.6k because they tech who’s “been working on cars for 11years” said he’s never seen that much rust under a car in his entire career… my brother is a auto technician on the east coast and this was his car before he gave it to me and he took very good care of the vehicle. Also being from the east coast especially living by the water of course sea salt from the ocean will cause surface level rust but the tech who looked at my car said he was scared the whole thing would turn to dust if even touched it. Very dramatic because i took it to my usual technician up north Three Points Automotive with much more experienced technicians that don’t cry over surface rust and they quoted me 657 for everything. Imagine that. A 4k$ price difference. Thank God I’ve worked on my car and am familiar that i knew that price was absolutely ridiculous. Like if you didn’t feel comfortable working on the vehicle say that. Also the manager that works there, i think his name is Alex? Not sure he’s blonde hair and blue eyed gave the people in front of me great customer service but was very short and dry with me. Borderline passive aggressive which caught me off guard because it was my initial visit when i was dropping off my car so they could tell me what was wrong. So i don’t know if it’s something against me or what but i don’t wanna pull the race card but the difference in my service experience was like night and day. Glad everyone else had good experience, but mine not so much. Wouldn’t recommend because i don’t trust car servicing that decides when they wanna go 10x market standard for a simple repair.

Maybe Patrick should be a comedian because the place he’s running is an absolute joke! Our check engine light came on Sunday. Some sort of misfire so we took it to Sun Auto at 9AM Monday morning. The manager Patrick said it would take about 4-5 hours for them to run a diagnosis. We heard nothing from them that entire day. We call the next day and they said they’d get to it that day. We hear nothing from them and give them a call on Wednesday explaining that if the diagnostic is not done by Thursday, we will be picking up the car. We’re promised a call from the owner that morning. Thursday morning comes around, no call. We Uber over there and coincidentally they just finished it. They found out it was the coils and spark plugs. A quick google search says it could be a $250 - $500 fix depending on your vehicle. The really finicky guy up front tried to convince us that we needed $1600 in repairs. We reply saying that we can’t do all these repairs. So he cuts out a couple things bringing down the price to $1400. I still don’t know what the hell Id be paying for because homie has to speak faster than the speed of light. We say no, and he changes the price to $1400. So we ask for our keys back. Apparently we have to wait 2 hours for them to get their tools out? Ridiculous, we abide and come back around 1:05. Patrick, the manager has some petty attitude but he hands us back our keys and we quickly took it up the road to a way better mechanic who took care of the same problem for $406. Lopez Auto, 4 minutes down the road from sun auto.

I'm a regular Sun Auto patron. They have done excellent work on my truck over the years. I've trusted them for a long time as mechanics. Well...after today I trust them as human beings. Today, I was running out of gas with no money due to my wallet getting stolen at a concert out of town. By the time I got back to Austin I was empty!! I have a Sun Auto credit card in the glovebox so I thought if I could JUST make it to a Sun Auto maybe they'll sell me some gas! I made it... on fumes... to Sun Auto South Austin on Slaughter Lane where I met Victor. He said he could not sell me gas, credit card or not. Then, he offered to ride with me to the gas station and put $10 in my truck out of his own pocket. What a gentleman. I was able to make it home because of him and there was nothing in it for him. Now who do you want working on your car? Thank you Victor!

Dropped my car off at 7am. For an oil change. Around 1:30ish called them to get a status on my vehicle. Had a back & forth with service rep. He says he told me it would take 2 days because they were busy. I know he didn't because I'm a single mom, this is my only vehicle and my kid has after school activities. I know I wouldn't have been ok with being without a vehicle for that long. I do remember him telling me it was "going to be awhile" which I figured "awhile"= 5/7 hours. But he never told me "possibly 2 days". For an oil change??? I only go here because it's walking distance from my home. I was already somewhat on the fence about continuing to come here due to other service issues. But this was the straw that broke the camels back. I picked up my car after they had it all day and went to Lambs. I do not recommend.

I had purchased tires online and had them delivered to my house and needed a company to install them.... There are some very honest and down-to-earth people I have ever talked to business wise. The tires I'd receive were no good and had flat spots and the sidewalls were bulging and warped! They took my truck and started the repairs when the technician noticed the issue with the tires... and explained the safety factor and I shouldn't install them.... and I agreed. That gentleman saved me money for the job... plus the saftey of my family riding in the vehicle! Sun Automotive didn't charge me a penny.... ans I very grateful for the honesty of the technician and the integrity of this company.... Thank you for everything.... I'll definitely be back and refer Sun Automotive to everyone I know!

I have had the best experience with Sun Auto. I have taken my car there multiple times for oil changes, state inspections and any other maintenance/issues. The employees are always nice and friendly and take care of everything in a very timely manner. I recently went in and Ryan took care of me. He treated me so well, I felt very well taken care of. He truly makes me for confident in my car service. He has such great customer service. I will always continue to come here for car maintenance. I first came here 2 or so years ago because I received a mailer and it had a coupon for an oil change. I regret not continuing to go here for routine maintenance but definitely will moving forward. Ryan assisted me 2 years ago and I had a great experience then and he was there again today which says a lot about retention. I highly recommend this place, especially because they have the technology to take pictures of your car when they're working on it so you know they are being transparent about any diagnosis they uncover. Looking forward to being a continued customer in the future!

Completely disorganized as a business - Courteous desk person, but that's all the good news. Sun continues to accept online appointments that mean nothing, and to make unrealistic time estimates to walk-ins. The list of excuses is always the same (techs not available, computer system down, repeat). Since you can't possibly do the job on or in time, and YOU KNOW IT, stop spinning fantasies and accepting appointments and work that you know you can't fulfill.

I went to Sun Auto for a State Inspection. With it came a sales pitch for a $732 tune up. I just had the car tuned up. They just looked at the mileage and assumed it had not been done. The $732 was put on my invoice. They were able to delete it from the invoice after I rejected the idea of a $732 tune up. Very old school, like a used car dealer. The inspection was done fairly quickly however. I paid for the inspection and drove off.

Very nice experience. The assistant manager was so friendly and helped me with additional questions I had. They went over anything the needed to be addressed that they noticed while they complete my inspection. They were realistic about the time it would take for the inspection (1 hour). This was due to it being a weekend and 4 people ahead of me. Expect to wait if you go on a weekend after 11.

Honestly the best customer service south of Austin. Went in on a Tuesday at 3:00 and the nicest guy got me in straight away. Only took about an hour and a half to check over my car and replace some filters. Very thorough communication and speedy service. I also have to thank them for letting me know where to re-register my car and get a good deal! Consider me a regular customer now :)

I took my car to get the a/C fixed they were charging way to much almos 3000 for repair and then when I went to pick my car up the front grill was loos and the manager Ryan had the nerve to tell me that's the way I gave them my car, I open the hood they dint put the crews back on and they left their screwdriver under the grill. to bD I can not give them a negative stars.

The crew in the back got my car inspected quickly, they let me know that there were a few things that needed attention in case I wanted to take care of them while I was there. Ryan was fantastic from start to finish! I’d had enough of Discount Tires and was looking to try somewhere else. I was given options and quoted very competitive prices for new tires. It turned out that I had an issue with my tire sensors that they took care of for no extra charge. Overall excellent experience. Highly recommend!

This place just wasn’t it. Brought my car because I couldn’t find the problem to a code I had and even scanned myself. Was told the fuel pump (which I replaced weeks ago) needed to be replaced. $1,200 for parts and labor. Still had to pay $126 for diagnostics. Hard pass
