I'd like to share an incident that happened at a nail salon I often visit. Today, I witnessed a story involving a couple of male and female customers along with a nail technician named Sammi. This story wouldn't be noteworthy if I hadn't been awakened by the ostentatious behavior of this young couple. The man turned on his speakerphone and spoke loudly, while the woman expressed dissatisfaction with the prices on the salon's menu. Their actions caught my attention. The man talked loudly on his iPhone, with the volume turned up, making it impossible for me to relax. This drew the attention of everyone around. Initially, I felt a bit uncomfortable because of their lack of consideration for others. Their behavior disrupted the tranquility I was trying to experience here. However, the story doesn't stop there. The woman mentioned that it was her friend's first time getting a manicure. He works in construction, and his hands needed some care. I noticed that the nail technician, Sammi, spent a considerable amount of time working with him. What stands out is that it seems like the man wasn't cooperative, making Sammi's task of attending to him challenging, possibly due to his busy video call. I want to highlight this truth based on what I witnessed today. Customers like this have caused me to lose a moment of my relaxation. My first impressions were sweet but then things turned sour. I was looking to try a new nail salon and I saw this place was close by and highly rated. My boyfriend and I came to get pedicures which were amazing. I decided to return less than 2 weeks later to get another pedi and a full set of nails. Again, the pedicure was great. I showed a picture to Sammi of some nail inspo and she initially seemed on board. She had a gentleman (paul) apply and shape my nails. When it was time to apply the acrylic, he started applying clear. I told them both I wanted nude acrylic, not clear. As Paul started to apply it, Sammi made a big deal about it, saying it wouldn't be as strong. I informed her I have used nude acrylic as a base for years and prefer the look of it. She proceeded to ask me what happened to my nail tech. I explained that she had moved. She retorted "well, go find her! I'll help!!!" I was stunned, hurt and embarrassed. I got quiet then started to tear up. Here i was trying to do something nice after an emotionally taxing day only to be treated like an unwanted guest. If she wants me to go somewhere else because I want colored acrylic, I will happily oblige✌

I had a wonderful experience at Sugarcoat! I made an appointment for shortly after they opened, and was getting one acrylic replaced, a fill on the rest, and a gel manicure. Paul replaced and filled my nails, and was very informative on why they don't recommend filling dipped nails (if water gets underneath, you can get fungus! I had no idea, but seems obious now that I've been informed!) - I'm brand new to manicures and really appreciated the thoughtful Intel! He was also very gentle - the last place I went wasn't, and the process was a bit painful. I was really impressed! Sammi did my design and is incredibly talented! She has an Instagram, @samminailart, and when you walk into the salon, her designs are featured on the wall to the right of the register. She also does custom press-ons! At the moment, they only have one nail artist, so I'd recommend making an appointment for when they open! Otherwise, there will likely be a wait! I'll have to get my nails off for school in a few weeks, but the next time I can do them again, I'll definitely be returning to Sugarcoat!

I had a really positive experience here! I originally came in for a pedicure, but left with an adorable gel mani. The nail salon is very cute and the staff was super friendly and attentive. I was offered a beverage of my choice during my services which was a nice bonus. I never felt rushed or pressured into getting something I did not want. I will definitely be coming back! My pedicure was great, but as I continued to talk to my nail tech, Sammi, she told me that she also did nail art. She invited me to look at her Instagram (@samminailart) and pick a design I liked. I found this cute frog design, and she assured me that she could do it. I’ve been searching for someone in Austin to do great nail art on short nails like mine and Sammi went above and beyond! This design took about one hour and cost me $75 (before tip).

Amaaaaazing service!!! The atmosphere is so calm and so cute! My biggest issue lately with places is that they just rush through their services. But my experience at Sugarcoat was so relaxing and amazing. Kristie did my pedicure and it was perfect. (If you’re wanting to indulge, the sugarcoat perfect pedicure was IT!) Sammie did my manicure and dip powder set and was beyond amazing. Sammie also did my eyebrows too and they were exactly what I wanted! Everyone was so kind and thoughtful and intentional with their work. I mean even the beverages provided were well presented. Super clean and organized. 6 stars if I could!

I LOVE this place! Favorite place to get my nails done. I routinely do manicures and pedicures. I love the wide selection of polishes (both the colors offered and the types of polish — gel, dip, etc.) and the service is always excellent. They offer you beverages while you’re there (including wine!) and always do a beautiful job. Sami (owner) did my manicure recently in the brilliant “cat eye” style and I have gotten so many compliments — including from guys! I’ve never had a guy even notice my nails before! Couldn’t recommend this business highly enough.

Sammi and Paul have been doing my nails for around 2 years. Don’t let this fool you, they’ve both been doing nails for over 20 years! I can confidently say this is THE best my nails have ever looked. I’m having so much more fun with expressing myself creatively through my nails! I’m convinced there isn’t a single design that Sammi can’t do. A true artist. I get endless compliments. I never have a single chip, the nails never lift, or break. I’ll be a happy customer for as long as they’ll have me ❤️

I have been getting sns on my nails every ~3 weeks for over 5 years now. I just moved to the area so I was nervous about finding a new place, but my first trip here eliminated all those worries. Sammie is incredibly detail oriented, meticulous even. I am a bartender and rough on my nails, so they often break. My first set lasted 3 weeks without so much as a chip. The salon is really nice and relaxing, the drinks are good. I’ll be back!

This place is AMAZING! It’s so cute and clean and they do an incredible job! I would highly recommend checking them out - they are so kind and their complimentary juices/drinks are so good. Massage chairs were top tier. Pedicure was perfect. They also have the ability to do incredible nail art which I’m interested in checking out next time. One of the best nails salons I’ve been to in a long time!

I got a mani, pedi and waxing done. While the pedi was an amazing experience. My pedi was done by an old lady who was so sweet. But my manicure and waxing was done by a younger women who ruined my eyebrows and waxed my hairline when I asked her to wax my forehead. The gel on my right forefinger peeled off the next morning.

My first time there was just what I needed! The atmosphere is clean and inviting, all of the techs that worked on my mani-pedi had an eye for detail and very friendly! I will definitely be back because my nails are getting lots of attention! I brought in pictures of what I wanted and they executed it perfectly.

Absolutely LOVE this salon! The employees are very friendly and hospitable. They genuinely care about doing a great job and they always deliver fantastic quality! This is the best nail salon in the ATX area. From begging to end the customer service is incredible. My nails look and feel amazing. Last for weeks. They always take the time to really understand what my wants and preferences are. Going above and beyond every time. Great place for nail art.

I had the best time here! I wanted a green velvet on my natural nails and Sammi and Paul made my vision come to life. They did a flawless job and they were kind and communicative. The salon is very clean and cute - I can’t wait to come back!

Man I don't care where I am these are my pedicure people for a working man's feet and trust me I have working man's feet work boots does no justice but they do good work..I like this place and it's never packed on Sundays....

Amazing! They were able to fit me in immediately and did a fabulous job with my nails. The gel manicure was very neat and priced fairly. On top of that, they gave me a delicious passion fruit drink.

Nail technician’s name starts with an “N”. She applies the wrong SNS color, would not admit to it, and drilled my skin leaving cuticles scarred.

They did an amazing job - incredibly detailed, didn’t feel rushed, and they were kind about my incredibly short nails and made them so cute!

Sammi has been my nail technician for the past 10 years. Any salon that she opens has been AMAZING and sugar coat is the same.
