This business used to be great. When the new management took over it went drastically downhill. The cost of a simple oil change practically doubled, and I know inflation is affecting many businesses. The thing that makes me angry is how they now charge this outrageous fee to do a diagnostic and can’t be bothered to take a look at a thing with their own eyes. I was having an issue with the battery and the power flickering on and off. They ran their “diagnostic” which they charged me for and said it was O2 sensors and would cost nearly 2k to break off the exhaust system to replace them, but then after that they could see if there were other issues that could cost more. The car was still running so I said no. When the issue happened again, this time requiring a call to AAA, the tow truck driver found that all the connections to my battery were loose AND I had no coolant in my car. Why would a mechanic shop not bother to look at these things when I’ve been a paying customer for years?! Don’t bother going to this place if you want them to actually help you.

We took my mother in law Prius here for a Smog check. Yes, you read that right that we had to do a smog check for a Prius. I was familiar with Steve Express Automotive because when my wife had her old Toyota Corolla and it was having problems, I took it here to get fixed. I called ahead to double check that this place does Smog check and ask for the price. There no appointment needed and you just show up, I was told on average it would take around 30 min. When we arrived, they didn't have much parking spots but I was able to find one next to the entrance. When my mother in law arrived, I give the key to the mechanic and he went to do the Smog check. The person working the counter said that Prius never fails the Smog check and also said he doesn't know why a Smog check is needed for a Prius. It took around 30 min and we didn't have any issues.

This place is the go-to place for me to get my cars done for repairs and maintenance. Art is the main guy and he knows his stuff. He's honest and would let you know whether or not your car needs certain repairs. I normally work on my own cars, mainly it's because I've never found a worthy and truthful mechanic until a few years ago. They're a bit pricey, but it's the price I'm willing to pay because of the good quality work I've experienced from them. I've had engine mounts, suspensions, timing belt, brakes and so much other stuff done over the last 3 years. Sometimes even oil change when I get too lazy.

Honest mechanics are hard to come by! My car was having an issue throwing codes so I took it to them for diagnostic and oil. They could have just started replacing parts the computer said to replace and hoped it worked but they didn’t want to guess. they told me I should take it to the dealership they have all the software and could possibly be fixed with a software update or flashing the cpu. Since it wasn’t resolved they didn’t charge me and let me for the diag and let me leave the car there till I could tow it to Mercedes Will be going back there for regular service and maintenance

If you are a woman, do NOT come here. I came in for an oil change and they tried to hustle me out of money by saying I needed to replace everything in my car down to the air filters. When I looked at my car later, I noticed they took one of my air filter screws and took out the cabin air filter, without putting it back in. Three weeks later, I found out I've been driving without the cabin air filter and with the loose engine filter cover! Not to mention they were rude to me over the phone and told me I was not taking care of my car. If you can, go anywhere else.

I've been taking my cars to Steve's for 15 years. Most memorable, were the two charges for under $10. One problem turned out to be a battery terminal cleaning. The other was to fix a very loud banging problem with heavy vibration when turning right. That one turned out to be a failed motor mount bolt that had been replaced three months before. The occasional car repair that you get change back from $10. And for my Volvo, they recommended someone else who was a Volvo specialist.

Had our smog service done there. Friendly atmosphere, good price and no long wait for it to get done. They also do auto repair. Back this time to check out a problem with the car. Very prompt attention and quick solution. Even though AutoZone had told us the battery was in excellent shape, it was not. We purchased one, it was installed and problem is gone. It didn't take as long to finish so we didn't have to wait for ages! Thank you Steve's Express Auto!

Was just at this shop for p0339 code, came here because of the reviews, they took my car at the back after 10 mins the mechanic came out with the car to the front but took it back and started working on a different car(saw the same mechanic came out on a different car) so basically my car just sat in the back for an hour and got charge $125 for getting their scanner connected to my car. Never trust reviews again! And will never come back at this shop!

This shop is the best, I've been coming here since 2003 and have yet to find a reason to complain or gripe! Art is a great guy and always makes sure he takes care of his customers, not to mention the pricing is very reasonable. Only thing I will say, is I am obviously not the only person in the valley that knows about how great this place is since they are always busy, but they still get the job done and in a reasonable amount of time.

I went this morning for a transmission fluid change. The guy started to play the scary tactics asking me questions irrelevant to the simple fluid replacement. He said "sometimes, when you change your oils the car reacts in a very weird way. Are you sure the car has no problems?". That was my red flag and told him he was full of it. They benefit if they succeed in making you scared. Stay away.

Went in for an oil change on my 2013 Chevy Cruze, and they call me to try and scam me telling me my car is in complete disrepair and needs about $3000 in repairs. Took it to another mechanic who is a cousin of mine and told him my story and after he inspected my car he said that they were trying to con me. I keep my car pristine, and it only has 30,000 miles on it. Nice try!

Don't do my mistake and do not trust this mechanic shop if you care for your money and your car, i suffered a lot after involving in this mechanic shop, they will start easy repair then will make it expensive issue and while you stuck there , 70$ repair caused me $4500 for $10k car! very bad people don't do my mistake

Very professional. I don't feel like I'm being taken advantage of as someone who doesn't know much about cars. Reasonable prices. Efficient. I've had my oil changed and some small other work done. I feel well served and NOT ripped off. My family and CSUN colleagues have used their services for over 15 years.

My friend went over there yesterday to fix her SUV’s brakes pads front and rear and rotors. They have charged $900 just for that. We called several places to find out the price and came to know everywhere they charged maximum $600 to do all those. I felt he charged her over for the service.

Amazing service, so kind. The check engine light came on in my car and I made sure the night before to check the code so I knew ahead just in case they tried to say something else was wrong when it wasn't (like many other places do). However they we're so nice and fixed the exact problem

My ignition went out on a Thursday and it Monday. And I had to find and buy my part. Still don’t have the car. And charged $140 to see what the problem is when I know it’s the ignition .so I brought the part to him “Uber “ and still cost me $280. No joke don’t go here

Took truck in for a fuel leak, they evaluated it and tightened a fuel line hose for no charge! This was my second no charge service! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

I took it in for what I thought was an alternator replacement at $400. They found a battery cable problem and repaired for 21$. You can't get more honest that that!!!!

Awesome, came in about 11a, no ac found out compressor was out, new compressor and Freon by 4:30p. Definitely a good place to go.
