Staff are homogenous - they have only one person of colour working there. The staff do not always recognize that some students may come from homes where there is a struggle to make ends meet. The academic ratings are good, which is why we chose the school, but the students tend to be very clique-y, which can prove difficult for newcomers. As in other schools, drugs are available, and St. Joe's students have more 'walking around money' than students from other schools with which to indulge. There is bullying of people who are not economically privileged, and cross-cultural, ethnic, and societal issues are never addressed head-on. My child once came home with a list a caucasian classmate wrote about why he is better than another student, and twice he wrote (once in all caps) that he is WHITE which made him superior. I showed the note to the teacher, but the subject was never broached, nor followed up. In hindsight, I am a bit disappointed with the school, and will consider placing my child elsewhere.

This is my least favourite school, the staff is sexist to boys, their first resort is a lunch detention. The wake-up is also terrible because you have to go to school at 8:00, but you do get to end early, which is nice. They try to make you feel welcome but with 2500 kids it's kind of hard to. If I was a parent, I would never let my children go to this school. There are great opportunities for sports teams, though. And lots of clubs. They also make you pay if you're trying to participate in anything in the school.

Throughout my life, I have been to over 7 different schools, both in and out of Canada, and I must say this has been the best one in every possible way by far. Both the staff and students are extremely welcoming, the teachers are knowledgeable and ready to help, and there are so many things to get involved with. I must say, I am truly blessed to have been able to graduate from such a wonderful school.

It's not bad tbh. Yeah some teachers are hella annoying and plain stubborn but most of them are decent and friendly. I don't really know if any drugs are taken here but they definitely need a cafeteria as they use the gym as a cafeteria.

This school is horrendous, doesn't allow students to go on a walk. Breaks are necessary for students' health. The only recces is under 20 minutes, completely grim. Please consider shutting down this school forever. ;)

This place is very crowded and the change room is always vandalized with big bananas. Barely any parking for staff and hallway bathroom is bad. Some teachers are good and most are okay.

School is so bad, the teachers are bad except for Mr. Hall. It smell bad and the bathrooms are always smelling horrible. Should just renovate the whole school because its so ugly.

I've been bullied at this school and have gotten major anxiety so they left me to do my work in student services and 2 days later they have forced me to go back to my classes

Great staff, so crowded with over 2k students love the cafe lots of sports and activities. overall if your are looking for a good education come to stjsh.

this school sucks. im in grade 8 and ive had a lot of terrible experiences with staff. there are also way too many people about 2.4k. way too damn much.

Its not a bad school. Sometimes I hate it because I got detention for being a few seconds late for class but I am new here. Its ok..

I go to this school, I'm in grade seven and the teacher are great. They have awesome safety protocols for Covid.
