I really enjoy the area and physical atmosphere of this library, but just had an upsetting experience with staff. I had to come back multiple times in order to scan pages to send to my email, because I never received the pages through email (even after 24 hours) and it had taken me about 20 minutes to send my scanned pages (logging into various google doc accounts since email wasn’t working). One staff member was very helpful, empathetic and understanding. The others made me feel very guilty and left me crying as I was leaving the library. With all of the technical difficulties I was experiencing from their scanner, I asked (pretty much begged) for just a couple more minutes of their time before closing as I had a deadline to make and thought that they would understand as I was trying to figure out how to get my scanned images for more than 20 minutes prior. I was told that they have more important things and families to get home to and was just completely disregarded and made to felt guilty for even attempting to ask for a helping hand and just a humane gesture. I hope to find a new library in the area.

I have to change my review because of some pretty despicable behavior by the staff that is escalating. It is important to remain professional when facing the public. Saying you hate talking to people and answering questions in earshot of patrons is immensely disrespectful. Without public funding from tax dollars, none of these workers would even be working here. I have to use the library to study often and the way the staff here speak about guests is disgusting. I get it, I need peace and quiet too, but not wanting anyone to approach you at all regarding computers, items on hold, etc is just simple library business. Part of your job is to at least talk to someone, without glaring, rolling your eyes, or commenting your displeasure on loop. What happened to this library? Really sad

We love this Sugarhouse library! It is so cute inside, and all the librarians are very nice. We go to the Sounds of Summer, and have a blast outside in the quaint patio, listening to the musicians who come. And today, we stopped by for the bike workshop, where they had bike mechanics work on our bikes, there was a wash station that we used, and I got a really nice free Bell helmet and won some reflective strips for my pants (they were giving away bike lights, bells, and lots of other fun prizes), and there were all sorts of biking info, including paths and routes. What a great service this library provides. And we also happened on a couple of used book sales here at this library, where I bought lots of books for cheap!

It is a super cute library but as others have said it doesn't have a large selection or all the amenities of a large library. You can request and return books from other libraries though. My biggest complaint about this library is that there are always people talking loudly, at least in the periodical room where I frequent. Seriously, every time I'm there someone is having a conversation at full volume to include the employee. When did being quiet in a library stop being a thing? The last time the employee had what appeared to be her son with her who talked loud the entire time to include using profanity. If things have changed and the periodical/computer room is an open conversation space then please post some signs.

I walked in, stood at the front desk and the two girls working there were chatting (about what movie characters they felt they were most like). They stopped, looked up at me without a word or greeting, and continued discussing with one another. Ignored, I walked away to the other desk where the man who worked there pointed me back in their direction. I walked out. This didn't make me feel too welcome as a newcomer to this area. Think about hiring friendlier people.

No Plutarch, no Goethe, no Emerson, no Shakespeare, no Milton, no anyone who wrote a book that will be remembered a thousand years later or already is remembered a thousand years later. Only books here are those that fall under the fashion of being "woke". That makes this more of a book "suppository" rather than "depository"....but super staff (not really) and I gave 5 stars bc I don't want to be a Karen and leave a bad review.

A beautiful small public library with tons of resources inside. The library attendants are so nice and very helpful! If you are looking for a new hobby or wanting to explore new things this library has it for you. From books, movies, music, to checking out a telescope and bird watching books and binoculars. They have it and it’s amazing. They also have a seed bank where you can get some garden seeds for your summer gardens!

Very friendly employees who are just waiting to help you out! This library doesn't attract some of the loud and obnoxious teenagers that more "modern" libraries do, so it's nice to be able to work on a computer or read without having any distractions. Parking is a bit limited, but I usually just ride my bike here or park around the corner and walk for a bit to get here.

Love this library THE CUTEST, tiny, friendly, community library with wonderful staff. One BIG thorn is the chairs and tables in the reading room. I feel like a child with the table closer to shoulder height than my lap. Thus there are only really 3 reasonable tables in the basement to work at.

The building is beautiful, but there is no selection AT all, it is an extremely small library for being located on the city. The only time I use it is to return books from other locations and pick up books from other locations. It's more like a library book transfer station.

This library is small but has a great kids section. I loved the variety of seats they had to offer. I also really enjoyed the little activities they had set out such as a scavenger hunt. They have a quiet teen section and great artwork on the walls.

This is one of the coolest libraries I've ever been to. Situated in a historic building in Sugar House the atmosphere is extremely studious. The libraries proximity to local shops makes it easy to spend the day in sugar house studying and eating.

There was a wonderful art show today. Donna is very talented and a nice person too! The library itself is one of the most beautiful and cozy ones in the valley and the staff was helpful and pleasant.

I love Sprague library! The staff are awesome and very helpful. They generally have what we are looking for and if not find a way to help us obtain it. Plus I simply like the "feel" of the place.

  • Owen Thomas

I LOVE this library! Unlike the Salt Lake City Library (which is just a mall with a library inside) this is a quiet place very near my house. I love how nice and welcoming it is.

I love this library! It is always a pleasure to visit Sprague: The staff is always friendly and helpful. The building is beautiful. Overall what I expect a library to be.

  • Kate K

I've loved visiting this location so much over the years. I've always had nice staff helping me and it just has a special ambiance within the building.

  • Daniel Benzion

Great little library, it doesn't have all the modern amenities of a newer library but it is a wonderful place to visit and read a book.
