Review for the thermal circuit. So, this is luxury to the max. This thermal circuit is amazing, but ever so slightly flawed, I'll explain. It's a small intimate space, each sauna is perfect for 2, cozy for 4, any more than that it would be crowded. Big plus. The (2) experiential showers are very nice, but less than we expected. One big rain shower head with various pressures and sprays and lights controlled by a side panel that you can play with to enjoy. The last time we were in a experiential shower it had various nozzles and heads that automatically changed and cycled temperature and aromas with lights and sounds...... but to be fair that was a paid "Treatment" and this was part of the basic circuit, so it's just fine. The 3 saunas are amongst the best we've ever known. The herbal is mild, calm and permeating , perfect slow deep sweat. The steam room is prefect with a very mild eucalyptus aroma, the bench are slick marble that gives it that "just that little bit more". And Finish sauna, oh dear me the finish sauna. It's soooooo good, it's soooooo hot, but not pure dry bake like most top heat sauna. It's got that perfect 20% moisture to make it pure magic. I've still not met the sauna that can beat me but this one is the closest it's ever come. I love it. These 3 sauna's are the best of their type I've ever know, the 3 together are pure perfection. I seriously can't praise the hot rooms enough. Then there's the cold. There is a cold room that is closer to fridge temp than freezer with some chopped ice, and if you fiddle with the controls a little you can use the experiential shower as a cold. And that's it. While these 2 are nice, we felt lacking for a serious deep cold. A cold plunge would make this place perfect. Or a knee deep water fall. I would have been happy with a cold tap and a bucket. It honestly felt like a flaw, with the ever so perfect hot, not being able to heavy cool down had us leaving feeling incomplete. It doesn't ruin the place, but it's such a shame. The 2 relaxation rooms are fine. The Salt room is just perfect with pressure and temp, bright and calm, just perfect. The dark rest room is great but it felt lacking for fuzzy blankets, that would have made it perfect. The robes btw are some of the nicest I've seen, fuzzy inside silky outside but a fuzzy blankie would have been nice. Side notes there were a few books around, full of pictures of nature and flowers and what not, very nice touch. There was also some snacks and very nice tea, but there never seemed to be enough hot water available. Just one small pot of hot water that never seemed to be refilled. Not a deal breaker but such a shame, all those beautiful herbal tea bags teasing us with no way of drinking a cup. Shame. All in all a great experience I would recommend it, especial if you love Nordic spa and want to try something a little different, but for the pure medicinal function of hot cold hydrotherapy I would chose a few different places. Loved it!
Overall, I am extremely disappointed with my experience here. I was off on my Vacation this week and my usual spa place, "Spa Scandanavie" was closed so i just wanted to have a relaxing self care experience. However, the offerings of this spa are misleading. 1. Firstly, the Thermal experience that costs $55 is literally 3 small saunas and a small room to lounge and the room was not even silent as others were noisy and staff didn't regulate this at all. When I spoke to the agent on the phone, I had told them that I wanted water access and they said "Bring your swimsuit". Also, the pictures on the site were ;misleading as they show the pool as a part of the services. Once I got there, the pool was closed and not available. I wish the actual thermal experience could have been made clearer to me. The thermal experience was a complete waste of money as even in the Sauna, peoples towels were left , lockers were missing towels and it just seemed very disorganized. In general, this was a waste of money and other spa's thermal experience would be more worth it. 2. I had the massage second and that was also a bizarre experience that I did not enjoy. Usually, I want to relax during my massage and I prefer silence but this was particularly difficult here because there was a lot of chatter, random words being blurted out and awkward laughs that stopped me from relaxing in the moment and really enjoying this. There were moments where he would blurt out random things or complain about being overworked. Whenever I would try to give direction on what I needed, he would say things like "trust me, I've been doing this a long time, this isn't my first rodeo, If i came to your work place, I wouldn't tell you how to job and tell you how to edit your spreadsheet" I understand he's being doing this a long time but as a client, I have every right to share what would be more helpful for my body. The comments felt defensive and oddly passive aggressive- It was just unnecessary and more than a little inappropriate. The actual massage felt more like a deep tissue experience rather than Swedish which i booked but it was helpful. He gave useful advice about stretching and posture and he actually helped my hands ( fingers especially). The massage it self was not bad but the complete experience was very weird. He seems nice but a massage session is not really a good time to vent which is what I felt was happening. My experience with Spa William Gray was at the very best, mediocre (and that's being generous) The spa is marketed as upscale, but I would say that there are many other spas in Montreal that offer a better experience for the same price or cheaper. I expected much more of a luxurious experience based on how it was marketed and the reviews. It was On the plus side, The staff was very nice.
I received a massage at Spa William Gray for my birthday, after attending the spa itself. The spa is small, as described by other reviewers. However, it's nice for an intimate group of friends. We were 4 and it was the ideal number. I find that there are nicer spas in Montreal than William Gray's: it lacks a cold plunge and a hot tub/jacuzzi. Bota Bota is close to WG and I would chose it over WG any way. In regards to the massage - it was quite disappointing. I was brought to the back room, which is a couple's massage room that seems to be right below a busy kitchen or bar area. It is a hundred years away from being called quiet. There seemed to be an event above my head and I kept on hearing thumping. I heard chairs being moved and at one point, I jumped because someone dropped a heavy item. Talk about relaxing. I mentioned that to the receptionist and she answered that it's one of the inconveniences of being in a basement but it will be brought up to whom it may concern. The massage bed was stiff, there was one single layer of sheets that kept on moving from the silicone and exposing my body to its cold surface. The massage therapist was nice and polite, but she didn't use enough strength. Her technique was mediocre and it felt more like a friend massaging, rather than a professional one. To add to this, the massage therapist told me the massage was over after an hour, although I had booked an hour and a half. I had to go back into the room after dressing up, to undress again. It all lacked so much professionalism. Again, I've had the best massages of my life at Bota Bota and their massage beds are foamy and heated. There are luxurious sheets covering your body as well as a weighed blanket. Spa William Gray has nothing to do with Bota Bota, especially for the outrageous prices.
Overall disappointed with the experience. For the prices and the reviews, I was expecting a much more luxurious and comfortable experience. I went for a body scrub and massage. My friend did the same. We had drastically different experiences. The massage was good, but there were a few things during the body scrub that made me uncomfortable. But it was only in speaking with my friend that I realized the number of services that she received that I did not. My biggest issues: 1. My massage was done first, followed by the body scrub. Prior to the scrub my therapist did not advise me to remove my underwear or give me disposable underwear. As a result, I had to remove my underwear over the body scrub prior to showering causing them to be covered in product. 2. To apply the body scrub to my back, my therapist had me sit up awkwardly on the table which was not very comfortable, but it also caused my whole front to be entirely exposed. A few of the services that my friend received that I did not: choice of scented oils before massage, rubber sandals for the shower, disposable underwear for body scrub, tea following treatment (though another therapist offered later). The facilities were fine, everything was very clean. However, the locker room was very small and there was no place for winter boots and jackets. The spa is marketed as upscale, but I would say that there are many other spas in Montreal that offer a better experience for the same price. They did offer a 15% discount when I told them of my issues, but I still feel that it was too much money for the experience that I had.
I stayed at William Gray hotel from Aug 13 to 15th. I booked a massage and the pool for August 14th. I specifically chose the 11:45 am massage time so when I finish I can use the pool at 1:00 pm. However, when I finished the massage they informed me that the pool was used for a private event. I was not informed of this earlier on. Even the spa front desk recognised that it was their fault (My booking had a pool reservation along with it). It completely ruined my plans for the day. If I knew ahead of time, I would have booked bota bota. Instead they offered lunch as a replacement. Luckily I was able to call bota bota and was able to book the pool for the afternoon (They should have offered to do the booking in the first place). I also asked the spa front desk if they can drop me off at bota bota (since they have a car service). Front desk confirmed with me that I can use the car service at 2:30 PM (Since I have to arrive to the spa at 2:45). However, when I arrive at the front at 2:30 PM for the car service, the front desk said they have given the car service to another customer. I literally confirmed with the spa front desk 30 minutes ago. I had the choice of either waiting for another 20 minutes for the car service to return (which I will be late for my appointment) or ask for a cab. I choose the cab and the cab still came late and arrived to my appointment late. It was disappointment after disappointment. I did not feel valued as a customer at all. Honestly, I love the hotel, but the spa just ruined the whole William Gray experience.
Upon arrival i was asking about the pool then immediately i am advised its not working properly heating pump is malfunctioning again so water is not heated, then why is my reservation charged “with” pool service. Should have not from the beginning to have it removed at the end. No towels are offered upon checking in i had to come up to the desk in a robe to ask for towels. Upon entering the thermal circuit room Used towels, tea cups, water glasses all over not picked up from previous guests lingering around for more than 2+ h i had to advise about this issue. Upon entering i was told we are 3 at the moment sharing the spa so does that mean it was left behind from first batch?! In the saunas there were used towels laying around. In the ice room from my arrival till i decided to leave There was no cold water nor ice in the splash bucket nor was it ever refilled. Clean up team only showed up only once to wipe down door handles from half of the amenities since i was watching him wipe down door handles from the inside of a sauna. This has certainly left me with a bitter experience Definitely being generous with a 2 stars.
I am not someone who writes reviews or provides feedback but I was here on vacation and really looking forward to checking out this spa. For a spa that is marketed as upscale I really felt the little things were missed. The beds only had a thin sheet and a towel as a blanket. When you moved onto your back, there was just a hand towel used to cover your eyes. I wasn't even asked what I was looking for from my massage to get an idea of my concerns, I did fill out the intake form prior to arrival but there was no discussion around it. Even when the massage oil/gel was added onto her hands the bottle was thrown onto the bed where I was getting treated. The masseuse also didn't ask if it was okay to put oil on my face or my hair. I now have red bumps all over my face due to a reaction. The spa was also very cold. I commented twice asking for heat to be increased or for blankets during my appointment. I was very excited to check out this spa but was sadly very disappointed and felt the experience wasn’t worth the cost and the furthest thing from relaxing.
I don't usually complain or write bad reviews, but this experience have to be shared for others to know. 2 key feedback that marked my experience with William Gray Spa and Massage: 1. The walk to my massage room was one of the most awkward experience I ever had. My bf and I were in our bathrobes and slippers, and to get to the massage room in the basement, we had to walk through the lobby filled with people in business attire or outdoor clothes. People were staring at us as we walked by. It was extremely uncomfortable, anything but relaxing. 2. My therapist did not know what she was doing, there was no technique, her touch was very insecure like she just started. When the hour was up, she just stopped... and clearly did not complete the massage. I left the massage feeling more irritated. The sauna and relaxing rooms were decent, but I was disappointed there were no hot baths or jaccuzi. The reception was nice. It was extremely overpriced for what it is. Unfortunately, the entire experience left a bad taste.
I booked my reservations online, it was very easy. My only issue is they did not advise that a shower is mandatory. Luckily, I've been to other spas after they were open since the covid lockdown so my partner and I arrived early. The ambiance is intimate. It was easy for me to check my stress at the reception and relax. The locker room was nice and small. In my assigned locker they provided a dry cleaned robe, a towel, and sandals. The shower was cold but it was not an issue for me. They had nice body lotion in the changing room too. The waiting area had flavoured bottled drink in a mini fridge and the couches were very comfortable. My partner and I got the deep tissue massage. My massage therapist was very professional and had great technique. My partner was very happy with his massage therapist as well. I will definitely come back.
The hotel is amazing. The spa not so much. Together we spent close to $1000 on 4 spa services and products but weren't allowed to use thermal suite which I feel is ridiculous and at that point was frustrated and didn't want to pay extra. Haven't ever been to spa that doesn't include these amenities when you have bought numerous treatments. All I can review is the part of the spa I saw and it was average. The facial was amazing and I loved it. My massage was very therapeutic and actually left me with bruises but felt much better next day. My husband actually asked his therapist to stop massage bc he said she just kept rubbing more and more oil on no pressure at all . We Loved the hotel so very much but won't return to spa.
WOW! great experience, I absolutely LOVED my swedish massage with Serkan. I live in Montreal and this was my first time. He was professional, asked multiple times during the massage if the pressure was good and also made recommendations after it was done. I was so relaxed afterwards, it was truly a treat :) Merci encore! I don't know why the previous reviewer was so insecure about getting to the spa in her bathrobe...she's a grown up and she could have went down in a change of clothes (like I did) if she was that self conscious... no one forced her to go in her bathrobe so I'm genuinely confused by those comments. It takes away from the great service the spa has to offer.
I was snowed- in on business in Montreal last Friday and ended up in the William Gray Spa. If you like deep tissue massage, I have one word for you. Paul. Most amazing and unusual massage I have ever experienced. Also the thermal experience after massage is completely worth it. My pet peeve with massages has always been once it's over you have to get up, get dressed and leave. Spa William Gray invites you to linger longer in the relaxation rooms, salt room and sauna and steam room. I am only sad I can't go weekly, but I live in Washington, DC. Locker room is nicely equipped. Spa is immaculate. Front desk staff - lovely and knowledgeable.
This is definitely not a luxury spa or close to it. Reception unwelcoming, cold and no info on the products. The massage (Himalayan detox) was just soft strokes as the therapist clearly had no idea what scrubbing means (which was the whole story of the detox). During the treatment noises were coming from the ceiling as people were moving heavy things; definitely not relaxing. The super expensive BR cream I bought I arrived back home just to find out that the seal was opened. The relaxation room was just the most basic room with some chairs; it had just water (not even a warm tea) and some rotten mandarins. Really unacceptable.
We booked massages at the spa while staying at the hotel. I had a wonderful massage with Mila. He was very thorough, and released my tightly wound neck/shoulder muscles with some deep tissue work. Sometimes at hotel spas you feel like you’re just getting moisturized, basically, but I felt like he provided a proper therapeutic massage with relaxation thrown in at the end. I get therapeutic massage back in the US and this was a good mix. Mila was great! I would also say as a guest at the hotel, I didn’t know we got 15% off spa services so this was a great value.
My husband and I had the rest and glow spa packages today. Annie gave us our scrubs and massages which were incredible. Every movement felt perfectly orchestrated, it was so relaxing while being through and relived a lot of pain. Every detail was thought of throughout the whole spa experience. Maria was our esthetician and she immediately recognized some trouble areas and tailored the facials to suit. I have a regular esthetician at home and I must say, it was every bit as good if not better. Truly amazing experience. Merci.
Had an amazing massage by the lovely Petra! She addressed all of my problem areas and made sure that I was comfortable. 10/10 experience and I will recommend Petra and the spa itself to my family and friends. Exceptional service both by the RMT Petra and the receptionist Leila. Leila was very accommodating and ensured that I would be able to move my massage to a more convenient time. Such a wonderful experience! Thank you so much!
The experience doesnt feel high-end or elevated, definitely not "luxury". The spa area is ridiculously small, one sauna, one steam room that was broken, and a couple showers, plus a relaxation area that just feels like a doctors waiting room. I was also quite disappointed to see that the thermal circuit as displayed on the website features the pool, while in reality the pool access is an extra 55$...
My Mom and I had a few treatments this week that were honestly to die for. It is not cheap BUT it was well worth the price. We had services from Maria, Juliette, Serkan, Annie and I may be forgetting one other name... All were brilliant. The ambiance was soothing and relaxing, and the facilities were incredibly clean and nicely decorated. I would highly recommend you give them a try!!
Wonderful ambiance and service every single time. The spa and its premises are immaculate and spotless. Beautiful service. Lovely aesthetician Maria who I’ve been going to see for my facials monthly. Very competitive prices and great promotions. No one tried to up-sell you (so annoying when you’re trying to relax and enjoy a moment for yourself!). Cannot recommend more!
Top massage experience. I went in for a foot reflexology treatment and it was amazing. Professional staff. Easy booking online. Very polite customer service team. Beautiful massage room, really nice dressing room. Complimentary water bottle offered after massage ( I was instructed to drink 2 bottles before leaving) Thank you sooo much Spa William Gray!! ❤️
The massages were good. I received really strong massage that was quite different than anywhere else. You have to pay extra 45 dollars to use the hot tub and sauna which does not make sense. Also there was no hot water in the changing room. We were told to wait 10 minutes for hot water. Would not go back even though the massage was fine.
The mani pedi nail service was terrible. We went for bridal party spa day and a few of the nails had the polish come right off same night. Very slow service and a few times my cuticle was nicked to the point of bleeding. Same for my daughter. Very expensive for the value and service being less than average. Nice location. Not worth it.
Amazing pool, it's heated so it's a huge plus. However the spa experience was average. For 38$, you can get access to the 3 saunas but one of them was broken so they gave us a 15% off. Other than that, everything was great and the staff was very friendly. The gym is also very small, only treadmills, no bench nor racks.
I had a wonderful facial with Maria yesterday. She did such a great job relaxing me, I fell asleep a couple of times. Today, she gave me a body treatment. She is very calming and did an excellent job of explaining what was happening. I would happily recommend her to anyone who wants to have a relaxing experience!!
The service was amazing. It has a very private feel going through the thermal circuit. I just wish there was some sort of a jacuzzi or pool throughout the circuit. If you’re looking for something private and intimate and don’t mind not having a jacuzzi or pool then it’s great.
Wonderful, relaxing experience!! After walking all day in Montreal we had a pedicure for our tired feet. It was lovely. Rania was such a kind and caring person and made me feel comfortable from start to finish. I would highly recommend her for any treatment!
Beautiful spa. The setting is very relaxing, the products are so good. I had a pedicure and it felt very luxurious - exfoliant and massage in additional to the usual treatment. They have Vinulux nail polish (long wear) and a wide selection of colours.
Had a phenomenal massage with Milad today! It was perfect. The facilities were clean, organized, and relaxing. The rest of the staff were all helpful and kind. I had an excellent time and will be returning.
Just had an amazing body scrub and relaxing message with Jihan on this Monday morning! Will start my week right. Love the smell in the spa, they use the Tranquility Comfort Zone products …
Excellent SPA experience, spent one hour having Paul W. (massage therapist) throughly unwind my tangled body! It was a magical experience and feeling well days after. Thank you for the experience!
I always love my facials with Juliette. She is wonderful and knows exactly what my skin needs. The relaxation room is so nice, and I love to hang out after my treatments. Salt room is amazing.
Annie exceeded my expection of what a GREAT massage was. She has magic hands. Please make yourself a favor and book with her. Always a great experience at Spa William Gray. Highly recommend!
Went there many time but today service wasn't great at all! They got my booking wrong as I couldn't get the thermal experience and the masseuse was late definitely poor service overall
It was all about the massage as there was not a sauna, steam room, etc. My massage therapist (Katè?) was fantastic. 90 min deep tissue. I’m just used to spas with amenities.
I had the best deep tissue massage, Max was so professional and attentive to my comfort level the entire 90 minutes. I would highly recommend when you’re in Montréal!
Really nice spa, and cheap too for a half day pass (55 per person) and this is for a salt room and some saunas, and nice showers. No hot tub, but free valet :)
Had a very lovely facial with Maria. She was amazing and very knowledgeable about product. Would highly recommend this spa if you are visiting Montreal!
Loved my facial with Maria. She’s the absolute best. Really knows her skincare and it was such good facial. Highly recommend paying her a visit.
Wonderful spa with the nicest people! The beds are so comfortable which is very important if you have a bad back. Highly recommend a visit.
Milad is a magician with massage. He worked so, so hard to break down some really tough knots and did it expertly. I highly recommend him.
