13 hours later… Sitting here, extremely upset, with 12 other people in now the second waiting area. The people around me are just as infuriated. All of us, yet to be seen by a doctor. All of us confused with how it is possible that we have only seen one doctor walk by in 13 hours. The nurses in this hospital are in abundance, yet the absence of interactions with patients, empathy and care they give to those in need is alarming. I have had only one initial contact with a nurse in triage who took my blood pressure, asked me what my pain level was between a 0-10 and then told me to sit back down in waiting room number one (no pain medication was given despite communicating immense amounts of pain). Please keep in mind that you have to stand in a long line in triage (no benches or chairs in the que). Some people are in such a great deal of pain and can barely stand, never mind try wheeling themselves around. After 4 hours of waiting, I am called by a nurse. I think it’s my turn to see a doctor. I’m taken through back doors and told to sit down it yet another waiting room. My blood pressure is taken once more, I’m asked my pain level for the second time - once again, no pain medication. No water. The other individuals in the waiting room experienced the same thing. We have now all been waiting for 13+ hours and counting. A man with severe blood loss from a laceration that went through his hand to the bone, an 80 year old woman in immense pain from a serious fall, a man with internal bleeding and diagnosed colon cancer, a woman with signs of a stroke to the point that she can barely stand on her own and is drooling all over the floor, and myself who is having a hard time breathing. None of us seen by a doctor, given pain medication or offered water. I can’t express in enough words how scary it is being in this hospital - I’ve never experienced such little empathy from staff. I’ve never been in a medical setting and not seen more than one doctor walk by for 13+ hours. It’s confusing and extremely alarming. The 80 year old woman and her son just walked out of the hospital after 13 hours of waiting. They said they were going to try to find care at another hospital. They came in at 12 noon and it is now 1 am. She is in need of immediate care and she is absolutely exhausted. She has suffered from a fall and cannot move her arm. When her son asked the nurse how much longer his 80-year-old mother should expect to wait, the nurse said “sir, there are a lot of people in front of you. Please sit down.” They are not the only ones. Others with severe health concerns have also walked out of the hospital in the hopes of going somewhere else. The rest of us feel like fools for holding onto hope as hours pass by. I fear for people who come to this hospital in an emergency. Others surrounding me sharing the same sentiment. A huge facility, very few staff and an alarming lack of care and attention to those in need. The lack of empathy and attention from staff is beyond what I thought was legally possible. Please go somewhere else.
This review is directed towards the nurses in the bicuspid valve cardiology clinic, as the doctors were great. The nurses there lack professionalism, lie to patients, and treat the clinic as their personal fiefdom. My father was a severe stenosis patient doing follow ups up to his eventual surgery, and either due to discrimination towards immigrants, profound laziness in carrying out their responsibilities, or some other undesirable characteristic, they would constantly try to discharge him as a patient so he could no longer see his doctor. Their strategy revolved around sending appointment summons by mail, which sometimes would arrive and sometimes wouldn’t, and if you did not respond in a week or two to that letter they immediately discharged you, without trying to contact you in any way. My father was first diagnosed at an auscultation with a family doctor, and put on a list for months to see a cardiologist. When a few months had passed he went back to the family doctor and informed him he had not seen anyone yet. The family doctor told him to call in to the clinic, which he did and the nurses answered, informing him they sent a letter for a consultation and he did not respond, so they discharged him. My father was very upset but got placed on the waiting list again, and this time he did eventually get their letter. After the first consultation he needed to get another followup, and knowing the letters they sent out were unreliable due to the mail delivery, he asked the nurses if they were able to notify him by email when he was sent his followup letter in case he did not receive it. They assured him they would do this, but surely enough, after the required months passed and he called in to ask about the followup, he was once again discharged. With no attempt to even contact him they discharged him outright and lied about trying to contact him. Furthermore, despite discharging a patient against his will, they did not even follow Alberta health care protocol which requires at least a referral that can be used at some other center, they simply said they can’t help him and interrupted the call. My father is now receiving great care in Edmonton but had to go through the emergency department to see a doctor. This level of shameless unprofessionalism from the nurses burdens the already struggling ER department and more importantly directly harms patients, by impeding their access to doctors.
My mom had an emergency bowel obstruction surgery here. It was not a good experience. When we first arrived, my mom was vomiting blood and vomiting every 30 mins. We weren't taken seriously by the doctor. She questioned why did we bring her to the ER and we had to convince this moronic doctor that my mom is in a serious condition and needs CT scan right away. She was refusing to do anything, after arguing for hours, she was convinced and the ct scan revealed it was a bowel obstruction, and my mom needs surgery asap or else she can die. The doctor didnt even apologize. Additionally, her surgery was successful, but they left an abscess and refused to remove her np pipe which was making my moms recovery from the surgery a nightmare. My mom fought for the np pipe to be removed. She was not given food or drink for three weeks and they forcibly kept the NP pipe in her nose which caused so many additional complications and could be the reason for her terminal neurlogical disease after the surgery. Once the doctor listened to us and removed the pipe my mom recovered quickly. Furthermore, they had to do additional ct scans, i.e., high radiation exposure, because they forgot to remove abscess from her abdominal cavity. After her surgery, she has been anemic, and during her visit to see the general surgeon, we explained she is anaemic he didnt take us seriously and said it was normal to be anemic. IT'S NOT! After the surgery, she is diagnosed with CBD which is an aggressive form of Parkinsonism disease. She was completely healthy prior to this surgery. Her family doctor told us the cause could be low oxygen levels to her brain during surgery and due to anemia. We were told my mom could die anytime by her neurologist after the surgery. So obviously, none of the doctors knew what they were doing in this hospital or nurses. Including the general surgeon. They could have easily prevented her anemia by giving her iron infusion. This is a slaughterhouse and should be sued for killing seniors! This hospital has caused our family so much pain and misery. Doctors and nurses were also racist and discriminatory.
I was referred to South Campus Health Mental Health Unit by my general practitioner for subsidized mental health support. I spoke with a counselor for several months and though she and I had great discourse within sessions I requested a different counselor as I felt my time wasn't being valued (my counselor was often late for sessions (all virtual), and would reschedule and/or cancel sessions frequently - with my last session being canceled twenty minutes prior). I was contacted by a supervisor who let me know that my counseling was actually set to taper off because I am not currently in "active distress". I let her know that this was not something I consented to and though I was fine to adjust from monthly sessions to every 6-8 weeks, I would be more comfortable with mental health support. It was requested that we schedule a meeting to talk about my needs. After trying to align our schedules to talk (I told her I wasn't able to speak during work hours) she let me know I would need to be flexible because she doesn't work outside of work hours and if I can't take the time for a call, I likely wouldn't be able to make counseling work. This was after I shared with her I had recently been let go and am in a temporary work position. I think it's really dangerous for an institution to be deciding what a client's mental health needs are on their behalf, as well as gaslighting them when they come to you for support. ESPECIALLY in a day and age where mental health needs are heightened and stigma still heavily surrounds them. I may not be in "active distress" but that doesn't mean I do not have mental health needs and should not be treated like my mental health matters. This is an incredibly dangerous mindset to hold and it worries me that 'mental health professionals' are the ones handling this situation so poorly. I understand that we are in a mental health epidemic and there is not enough support for everyone and certain cases need to be prioritized, but to tell someone they aren't distressed enough to deserve support is disgusting.
If I could give the emergency triage a 0 star I would. It’s taken me over a year and a half to finally write this review, as it was so traumatic that I couldn’t get it into words. On November 23, 2021 my partner drove me to South Health as I was miscarrying. While we were in line for triage my water broke, and I was bleeding a lot. When we finally got into triage, the nurse there informed us that my partner couldn’t wait with me while I was experiencing this traumatic event. They told him he had to wait in the car. When he questioned why, they mentioned that due to Covid no one could wait in the waiting room with patients. When he pointed out that there was various other spouses in the waiting room the nurse didn’t care. I wasn’t going to tolerate it and had enough. I told them that I wasn’t going to go in without him and that we were leaving. They had the nerve to ask me why, so I told them that I would rather deliver my child in the middle of the road than with them. A miscarriage is hard enough, but to expect someone to go in by themselves while their spouse went to the car? Be a better human, I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. I ended up delivering my rainbow baby in September of 2022 at Rockyview and they were amazing. If you’re looking for some compassion in the ER I would never recommend going to South Health.
Whoever left the 2 star review with no explanation, not very helpful. However, the staff here are extremely hard working. I think the only problem is that unfortunately due to the current situation in Canada's healthcare system, they are woefully understaffed. This can go from a general annoyance in the waiting room to a complete and utter safety hazard during risky procedures. After a 4 week stay here after a serious leg injury, I got to really notice the lack of organization, communication and staff causes workers to be responsible for way too much at once. This can mean you're not getting the full support you need to heal and feel comfortable during your stay here. Be prepared to ask for things many times and never get it, be prepared to have potential injuries/illnesses worsened due to a lack of resources. TL;DR Hugely understaffed, but the building is new and well built so when you're waiting around too long for doctors and nurses, you get to enjoy some fancy new furnishings and architecture. Of course, AHS needs to follow protocol for absolutely everything except seemingly the level of support available for some of the most vulnerable and at risk people. Getting communication across in here feels like speaking to a man with terrible hearing. Be prepared to repeat yourself and have some patience.
Absolutely NO support or service for my 20 year old son who suffers from severe depression. Brought him here when he was suicidal and they sent him home - with NOTHING. Told him to go see his doctor. Would not allow me, as his mother, to come in - because of his age. I have to advocate for my son who has been suffering from depression for 7 years now. We have tried every alternative remedy at our own expense. All Calgary doctors want to do is prescribe horrible medications with severe side effects that make it impossible for him to function. I have NO benefits or coverage, single working mom. This healthcare system is a colossal failure. I cannot afford $220.00 an hour for a phycologist and/or psychiatrist in this city. The one he went to 3 times has done nothing but write prescriptions which we CANNOT AFFORD! AHS only covers the least effective, older medications - which was confirmed by the psychiatrist we saw. I've been paying taxes into this failed system for 40 years - what a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars. No wonder everyone with money seeks out PRIVATE healthcare, I would also if I could afford it. Stay healthy people, the last thing you want to do is try to access the Canadian Health System - which is NOT about health at all.
Giving this place a 1 star is generous… I was in a multi vehicle collision at the beginning of Jan 2023 where I was t boned in my ford escape by a truck. I was rushed in an ambulance to south health as the paramedics knew I should get a CT to check for internal bleeding. The paramedic staff was truly amazing- as a person who hates hospitals they really comforted me until my family arrived. Waited over an hour for radiographs and the younger nurses were very pushy and rude as if they had better things to do. After radiographs and my blood pressure dropping insanely low I was put back in a bed in the hallway and started on IV fluids. Another 2 hours goes by before I GOT PUT IN A WAITING ROOM FOR ALMOST 16 HOURS before getting my “emergency CT” I was not allowed to eat, I would not have any pain meds or have family with me. When asked when I would be seen because I was in a lot of pain I was rudely told “there’s been people waiting here longer than you, you’re gonna have to wait till it’s your turn” doctor Robin was very nice and my phlebotomist was very kind as well but the rest of the young nurses on my case did not have good bed side manner…
I was treated here in 2019 for rhabdomyolysis a acute, usually fatal muscle wasting disease that attacks the kidneys. When I saw the diagnosis on on of my forms my heart dropped to the floor, and I thought I was done for. Fortunately, the doctors and nurses here are true experts and though the treatments were not pleasant at all, they managed to save my life! Sometimes you need to put your ego and your desires aside, and let the professionals do their work to save you, especially when it comes to something as serious as what I had. When only 20% of people survive the condition, even knowing as much about medicine as I do I was ready to put my full faith in the true experts and to this day I am thankful each and every day to everyone here who has helped me live and be here for my children! I have been to the ER here many times as well. I have been treated with respect and dignity. I may have needed to wait, but patience is necessary in that environment. In the end they helped me and I got the treatment I needed each time! Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and all the support staff at South Health Campus!
Anywhere but here for your own sake if you can. Some of the staff is great but my son was not casted properly for a broken ankle and has life long issues now. Myself went to this hospital only to wait 14 hours and not receive proper care. They only wanted to drug me up and even offered to keep for the weekend and put me on medication but would not do any further care. I declined their offer, called 811 who instructed me to go back to a doctor for care they would not provide. I went to Urgent Care and there I received at least a beginning of care for a long term illness. This hospital is so poorly run if you have been to any others you will notice the difference immediately, even to urgent care. They lack organization and have created a system to shoo people in and out the door where only half are getting the care they need. Perhaps the health care system needs help but this place needs more than that it needs new management.
Currently in their emergency department. Was brought in by ambulance today, and got here around 11am. The wait was quite long and lots of people were starting to get impatient, but honestly they are short staffed & they are doing their best. They made sure I was comfortable while I was waiting & kept reassuring me the doctor would see me soon. So I then saw the doctor and I was SO thankful I landed a doctor who read through my entire file & all my history & is coming up with a solution for my pain & nausea. He has done multiple blood tests as some of them are on the abnormal side, and is really trying to get to the root of the problem. Haven’t had an update in a bit, but the nurses here as well as my doctor are really making sure I’m comfortable while I wait for a few more of my tests to come back & I’m so beyond grateful. This is my second time at this facility & im very happy with the care I’ve been receiving here.
Honestly I have never written a review for any business or establishment. But this hospital is absolutely horrible, in terms of respect the nurses have none of it, and all of them continuously give you dirty looks. In all honesty this might be one of the newest hospitals but their emergency department is a joke. My mother suffers from severe depression and they made us wait longer than 6 HOURS! Mind you the room when we came in was full. Everyone got seen and we are still waiting. Then the room gets filled another time and it empties out and still we are waiting. I will never use this hospital ever again I don’t care if it’s close to my house. Anything to not deal with the absolute horrendous service. And Sad to see I’m not the only one who had this experience. Honestly drive the extra 5-10 minutes it’s worth it to not have to deal with this emergency.
This is a modern, clean and beautifully designed building. There is a Good Earth cafe, a market with ample seating that has a Tim Horton's, breakfast and hot food area, and many cold foods to choose from. There are some booths for larger parties and lots of smaller tables. The Directories are "touch screen" but there area also volunteers dressed in red shirts that are able to help you find where you are going. I was impressed with how much comfortable seating was included in the design. The store "Comfort Corner" has almost anything you can think of (clothes, toiletries, home accents, novelties) and is truly a "convenience store"! Parking is in two outside lots or underground. It cost us $5.75 for our morning appointment parking in the spacious lot under the building. Keep your ticket with you and pay as you exit the facility.
I delivered my baby here September 23rd 2021. The staff were friendly and responsive. The food quality was what you would expect but the quantity was great! Nice sized portions and lots of variety. The chocolate cake was my go to dessert every day! It was very clean and I loved having a private room with a private bathroom, shower included. My husband was able to sleep on the partner bed under the window and we had a great view on the city. There was access to milk, juice, sandwiches, ice chips, water any time of day. They provided a days worth of diapers and dry wipes for baby and as many pads and peri bottles as I needed during my stay. They were very thoughtful in my birth preferences (ie: dad cutting the cord). They have lactation consultants and mental health support if needed while you are recovering.
No training neither proper education. The personal is very unprofessional and unethical. The Nurses don't know nothing 1/2 them on that floor. Not special training. Ayo LPN and Bing (supervisor) treathed people like prisoner instead of a patient and human. They treathed persons like a criminal and take advantage of them, and specially of the immigrants and people who are alone in this country. They violent human and patient's rights.. Tricia a RN nurse (fake blonde, her hair and head looks like an enoqui mushroom and she has a butterfly tattoo behind right ear) left a patient with food for 8 hours, insane. Faith the nurse, sneaked through personal belonignings and kept them away from patient. Please don't come to Health South Campus in Calgary Alberta Health service is terrible. : (
I was admitted whit my elbow injury on July 13 and I cant express enough my gratitude for the service i have received from the paramedics, and from the all involved personnel in the admission and care after in the emergency room for helping and assessing the injury and providing the care I needed everyone was compassioned and sincere thank you with all my heart. the surgery was performed on Saturday July 15 by Dr. Stephen French, excellent surgeon I believe that thanks to his expertise I will be well soon, also I wish to acknowledge the personnel at the day surgery and post surgery for the awesome care and help thank you to all, you deserve recognition. And the hospital is beautiful and modern and well managed.
This location is all about fashion, image and conversation with the medical staff... and professional Staff here. They are not concerned about paients, or wait times, this facility is poorly managed, there is no ethics or integrity as a medical facility, the public wait hours to a see a doctor ,while the staff all chat in and talk about their weekends and plans, the facility is needs new management, there is no responsibility and the doctors who work here, have no medical ethics or urgency to the public. South health campus is a training facility for students in the medical field. If you you like to be treated unfairly, wait long time, have short patient staff ....this is the place to go.
Horrible! Spend 4 hours there and checked in at 3 diff times before I had to sit in a second wait room. Maybe another 3 hour wait The questions they kept asking me about smoking were ridiculous even though I told them I don’t smoke. She asked me if I ever breathed up second hand smoke Three times??? Wth? We are in trouble in Canada if this what our health care has to offer. I ended up leaving after 4 hours wirhout seeing a doc and only stayed because first check in nurse said I could get a quick prescription for an infection. She pretty much lied! Avoid at Al costs. Not sure why they even built a new hospital if they have no doctors and incompetent staff.
Amazing facility!! I had to unexpectedly give birth 4 weeks ahead of schedule and the staff there and even the volunteers were just outstanding! What was quite a traumatic experience for myself and my husband was somehow made extremely reassuring during the time my son and i had to spend there. The nurses on unit 76 are bar none, in particular Theresa, Ashlyn, Kyla and Gina (they are angels on earth!). The NICU nurses were SO kind and caring to my son and i honestly don't know how they made such a scary experience somehow calming. Julie, Mary, Sally, Carson, & Tosha were/are absolute angels! Thank you for everything!!
Had a Billary Colic (gallbladder attack). Went in early afternoon. FYI, they do tell you in triage that they take you based on severity. We sat in the outer area for about 3 hours before being moved inside ER. They took blood right away. And then we waited about another couple hours until I saw the doctor. Got an ultrasound shortly after that. Then another 2 hours to hear back from the surgical team. Surgery will be booked soon. The nurses, doctors and staff were very friendly and helpful. Being a patient means you need to be patient. Be grateful we have such great doctors and nurses. Thank you Kacy and Dr Strong.
Absolutely loved my experience in the labour and delivery section. I was actively in labour when I arrived to the hospital and the staff took incredible care of me. All of the nurses were incredibly attentive and made you feel comfortable and well taken care of. This was my first baby and I didn’t feel scared for a moment. The dr who delivered me “Dr Latisha Hewton Backfat” was amazing! As soon as my nurse called in the dr for me to start pushing Dr Latisha Hewton Backfat and her team came to the room pretty quick, got suited up and delivered my baby safely. I will absolutely be going back here for my second baby.
Horrible experience. Rude nurses in triage with no knowledge about assessment. After 6 hours wait time I went to see a nurse to ask how long will I need to wait more? She gave me 2 Advils and told me to wait for Tylenols as I might need to wait whole night to see a doctor. After waiting for long time almost 2 hours she gave me 2 Tylenols for my pain. Nurse told me we are understaffed and don’t know how long it will take. I waited for 9 hours to see a doctor where Emergency wait time to see a doctor on the hospital screen and online showed 1:50 minutes. I will not recommend to go to South Health Campus.
Canadian healthcare has gone so down hill its heart breaking. This is very much reflected at this hospital not only by wait times, but aswell treatment of patients by both doctors and a lot of the nurses is very bad. They act like they dont care and your health couldnt be less important. Its worth the drive and wait going to one of the smaller town hospitals. Its just unfortunate lot of the smaller town hospitals do not have the required specialists for a lot of cases. God help us as out government and health care systems sure wont. Wish i could have left a 0 star review.
I think Philip is his name, he was doing the screening at the emergency room this afternoon. He was looking after everyone with amazing care and compassion. There was a couple across the waiting room sitting on the floor and he took them around to the hallway, put 2 chairs together, got them a blanket, and helped them move there. He was friendly with kids, and just all around radiating warmth and friendliness. The world (and particularly healthcare facilities) would be a better place with more people like him. I hope management, and maybe Philip, see this review!
If i have options I prefer not to give even one star .. came with my toddler kid waited more then 12 hours in ER still waiting we don’t know how long we have to wait.. people are laying on the floor , full of emotions and agony in pain . But no-one come and ask for nothing , my toddler ask for water while checking in .. he was begging for water bottle but the nurse highly refused to give him.. what is the worth having word Emergency, worst health care system.. some people left without seeing doctor because waiting is too much when you are in pain..
My 3 year old and I waited for a good 4 hours, which isn’t the issue,. My issue is the night nurse ignores us; offered other patients blankets while we were cold. Two other patients had the same symptoms as my toddler. I stood in line in triage to ask how much longer a black nurse and white nurse both looked at me and processed with their business I stood there for a good 5mins and decided to leave and they watched me go without asking if I need help. Now my child is throwing up and we are having to go somewhere else at 02:50am. Truly not happy
Very nice, newer hospital situated in Seton - in deep south Calgary. The layout is nice and the whole place is fairly convenient to get from one area to the next. They keep everything very clean and sanitary here. The porters at friendly, kind, and helpful. Employees in diagnostic imaging (at least from my experience) are skilled at their job, display a high level of empathy for their patients, and know what they are doing. Urgent care probably has late wait times, unfortunately. But, this is the case at almost all AHS Hospitals these days.
As a 36 male that has been healthy his whole life, I had a very scary episode that I needed an ambulance ride (first ever, great guys) to get to emergency where I wait for 14 hours with no medical exam. To have my blood and urine taken, to be told everything looks good, what more do you want us to do this is the ER we dont do testing, and sent home at 3 am with no help, no direction. Signed, A Scared person. Update my brain is squeezing into my spine, all they had to do that night was a ct and I could have been on the road to recovery.
Incredibly rude front end staff. The have two separate lines. I had been standing in the sample drop off/ appointment line and then another gentleman came after me in the line that was not for scheduled appointments/ drop offs, but for walk ins. She called him up and he said “she was here first” and gestured for me to go ahead. I went up handed my sample and she said “I called him not you!” It literally took me 1 second to hand her the sample and leave. Not sure what the purpose of appointment lines are if they are not being honoured.
They have the courage to send me recently a mail on Aug.8, 2023 that I am still in waiting list for an ENT doctor appointment which my family doctor requested an appointment urgently on 2020 or 2021! after 2 or 3 year they sent me an update via a mail not even a call. My god I never seen this joke and bureaucracy and it shows how they are careless about people health in this clinic for putting me in waiting list for such time and it supposed no more than 3 months! No comment and it happening in Alberta.
I've been part of this gym for more than 6 years. It's a hidden Gem. Not alot of people know about this gym. Parking is great, you have to provide a deposit of $25(I think) to get the parking pass. Overall the equipment and the gym is kept EXTREMELY clean which I'm a big fan of. Because it's a small gym everyone knows everyone. This Y also has a big climbing wall and a comunial kitchen with cameras, no clue why. This gym does not have a pool though however the Seton Y is walking distance from this gym.
I am not happy with this place I have been here for one week and I’m going home tmw with the information that the doctor has didn’t even read all the information while they make me upset and keep telling me we don’t have this and that, I was so happy last week when I got admitted but ever since Monday may 22 it has been the worst ever. I hope I never ever get admitted here again with the doctor I have now. Having epilepsy is the worst thing ever and while the doctor doesn’t even know what to do
I went with my daughter we never ended up seeing a doctor after 5.5 hours wait which didn’t really upset me. It was a busy night and my daughter was in no serious risk. The nurses were friendly. What really bothered me what I can’t stop thinking about is how I saw them treat another patient. It was not very caring or compassionate and it will stick with me. Returned for another visit recently. I was seen quickly and the nurses were very friendly and made a horrible situation easier to take.
I have been here since 10pm today. I have glass pieces in my foot. It’s pricking me. It’s 1:40 am. The people who came before and after me have had their turns and left. I do not know what system they have where they decide which is severe and who gets treated first? Someone with glass pieces in their feet which is difficult to take it out by themselves come here and have to wait and is waiting at the moment, god knows for how long! Probably this situation isn’t an emergency thing!!!
the worst emergency hospital I have ever been to. I have never had to walk away without seeing a doctor after waiting 9 hours in very uncomfortable chairs. In pain for 5 hours without any pain meds and 4 hours waiting and I never saw a sign that there was an actual doctor in this hospital What a desapoitnnement. If I'm going to be in excruciating kidney pain but will be comfortable at home in my comfy bed or couch i will just skeep the emergency hospital from now on.
I spent several days in the hospital. 1. The nurses are incredible, very caring and helpful in everything. They also provide quality moral support. 2. The food is delicious, they feed you three times a day. You will not go hungry. 3. The doctor I saw is very professional. I was very satisfied with the treatment I received. Yes, sometimes you have to wait a little, but this is not the fault of the clinic staff, they do their hard work just incredibly.
I was a visitor in phyciatric ward The things i saw was very disturbing to say least , way staff treated those people was horrible to see i saw patients sleeping on floors , the Patient i visted was sleeping on floor in ward C He was hungry they pretty wel said to bad . He has bruises on his hips from sleeping on floor , they treat them like Prisoners . Patients get so stressed out in there it's horrific to see that staff Ignores their needs .
I only had MRI done here but it was an awesome experience. I was pretty nervous at first but once you get in the machine it’s not bad. The staff were all great and professional. If anything I had a hard time not giggling in the machine because gosh some of the repetitive loud noises sound hilarious, or like a really bad beat drop EDM song at a rave Overall awesome experience for my first time MRI and thank you to the staff.
Came in with my daughter because she's been having severe abdominal pain and her stomach is bloated. The wait time said 2 hours but we've been here for 5 hours waiting while the emergency waiting room has less than 15 people in it. I asked why the wait is so long and what if my daughter has a ulcer. I was told that a ulcer won't kill her so other people will be seen before her. The professionalism is very low here.
Labor and delivery ward are absolutely phenomenal. My husband and I were thoroughly impressed with the OB, the nurses, and all of the health care aids. Everyone between triage and discharge were so kind, so willing to answer questions and to support us in any way we needed. A huge thank you to all of the health care staff we had the privilege of meeting through SHC during this pregnancy and delivery!
I've never had a issue this hospital as specially for my MRI appointment they're really hard workers nigivate comment does nothing the hospital doesn't care for your comments just respect what they do for you and stop explaining about it If you hadn't see a doctor for more few hours it because they short staff you can't blame them that towards them just be patient and they'll come to you
Spent 12hrs in ER and never did see a doctor. Ended up going to a different hospital. There was a young girl there in pain, vomiting and crying all the nurse said was you have to move. I watched as nurses talked about what they were doing for the weekend and everything else but doing their job. The true problem with our health care is too many admin and managers and not enough workers.
Recently had my son here through Caesarean section and my experience here was wonderful. The room was big and very private. The surgeons, the nurses (Logan, Kelsie, Jenny and Megan), Ann Meerah and the rest of the hospital staff made sure I lacked nothing and recovered in record time. My baby was well taken care of. Everyone was so helpful. If I could give a 10 stars, I actually would
I absolutely adore this hospital, they are always so kind and caring. Ive been to the emergency twice, once for myself and once for my toddler, and both times it was fantastic-the staff here truly make the difference. I also had a planned c section here with my second child, and love the fact that they had a bed for my husband to sleep in overnight so I didn't have to be alone.
A stunning facility with medical professionals who love what they do and even focus on “customer service”! Everyone is friendly and helpful. I brought my daughter in for a fractured wrist and we were in and out in 64 minutes (totally Parking time) which included X-ray and treatment. Every trip with family and myself for a variety of things is always a positive experience.
Not impressed. Had to go to ER and when I walked through the door there was a worker there with a very large very furry dog. I am very allergic to dogs. When I finally got to the back the nurse (Brian) took a gown out of the dirty laundry and made me put it on. Good way to make people sicker. Definately grossed out. Been here for 10 hours so far and still have no answers.
Don't go there if you have emergency issues. The wait time could be more than 10 hrs. The staff don't follow any system. You can't ask your turn. Every other nurse will give you false number of people ahead of you . no matter how much pain you have they don't care .but the wait time on web site will show 4 or 5 hrs which is totally wrong , they are short staffed .
Went in for laparoscopic surgery and ovarian cystectomy. My very first experience with any kind of surgery and sedation, and it was wonderful. Before and after surgery everyone was attentive and helpful. I never felt neglected or treated poorly. The surgeons and nurses were with me before and after the procedure to give me information, support and care.
From the moment we walked in the care and attention was second to none. Considering the large numbers the staff were great with my mom very kind and courteous! Special shout out to Triage Joanne and Nurse (I think) Ruth aka Ruthless for going above and beyond! Now if the government can provide more staff so the wait decrease that would be awesome!
i’ve spent 4 hours in the ER with shortness of breath and chest pain and haven’t seen a doctor yet. a nurse hasn’t even checked in on me since i was put in this room 3 hours ago. you can’t pay for parking in here because there’s no cell service, so if you only paid for a few hours and have something severe happen have fun getting your car towed
I just can not properly express how important and significant it was to me and my family for what Doctor Omid Kiamanesh and his team performed what was done for me August 29th, 2023. I know I have a ways to go yet, but simply feel like I witnessed a miracle today! Thank you all so much. Truly selfless effort and concern for my well being.
Waited 10 hours just to see a doctor. Another 2 hours after that. People coming in to ER have to STAND in line for quite a while when they first get there. If they have someone with them, they can sit while their friend stands for them. But if they are alone, too bad. Some of these people could barely walk or stand. This is not good!
Absolutely horrible experience, my social worker, Josh, was utterly useless and neglected me and my family for far too long before doing the bare minimum and leaving. It’s amazing to me this man even has a job, as he clearly does not care about his patients enough to give them any time of day. The rest of the staff was lovely though.
Poor service. Untrained staff. Lack of professionalism and integrity towards patients and family members. Admission staff absolutely disrespectful and lack of knowledge towards severity of symptoms. In the past 5 years the service of hospital has declined incredibly after being the #1 in Calgary. Management team an absolute failure.
Very very 12-15 hrs to see a Doctor.long wait times and you see some nurses talking to co workers and no body says when and how long its going to take. I asked one of the male nurse he rudely replied" go back to your seat and when ever the room available your name will be called"?? . What kind of hospital is that ?? No empathy ??
Checked in my one year old for an emergency. Still waiting after almost 2hrs. They even got to see other ppl that came in more than 30min after us! Idk how they prioritize ppl but I know how I feel since it’s my baby!!! In the conclusion this hospital sucks!!! Do better!!! There’s a reason why is it call “EMERGENCY”!!!!!!!!!!
I had the best experience ever! My daughter was born 2 weeks ago, and I have to say everything was spectacular! ( Doctors, nurses, food, room) Also if I could give a Million stars I would, especially for Dr. Kyle LaFreniere, the BEST DOCTOR I could ask for! Thank you for taking such a good care of us!!!
My husband spent his last days in the ICU. I have never seen such amazing care of patients at any other facility. I’d like to give all the staff a huge Thank you. You made a terrible situation better. You treat all your patients with such respect and dignity. I know all was done for Andy.
The nurses and doctors at the maternity ward were exceptional!!! As a first time parent, we had so many questions.. they answer them all without any hesitations. Nurses were very helpful throughout labour and delivery. Room was spacious and private . Best tax dollars spent! Keep it up!!!!
I am so happy with the nurses, doctors and other helping staff during my stay at maternity ward. My overall experience from triage to delivering the baby was amazing. I am so glad that they provide exceptional service and explained us everything from the scratch. They all are heroes.
Wait time 8 hours for a Senior over 80 years old. Nurse was not able to draw blood for tests, then a doctor came to say he doesnt know the source of the pain and suggested to go back to the family doctor. Paying high taxes in Canada doesnt guarantee you a decent treatment anymore.
I had my baby here last Saturday. I had an elective c section. The doctors and nurses were great! My little guy ended up in NICU because he had fluid in his lungs. They didn't panic me and kept talking to me throughout the procedure. My little guy is all good thanks to them!!
I couldn't have had a better healthcare experience than I did at South Health Campus Diagnostic Imaging.Staff were great. The MRI Technician were wonderful, caring, gentle with the needle.I can not say enough nice things about my visit there last night.Keep up the good work!
I visit different health facilities due to my parents in their old age. South center campus, day surgery specially the colonoscopy deparent is amazingly great. Staff are so so great that you don't worry about anything. Its rare to find staff like third floor.
DO NOT USE THIS EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT!!!! The worst hospital in the province. Uncaring, lazy entitled nurses, doctors who are mediocre at best. So much for the “caring” medical profession. Dirty observation rooms, bathrooms and floors. You have been warned.
We went to ER after an x-ray showed my husband had a broken ankle. Everyone was pleasant and he went into a room within 20 min. Dr. Heather Patterson was the doctor. She is lovely. All the staff were friendly and efficient. We were so impressed.
I gave birth to this hospital almost 2 months ago and I must say, the service I received was phenomenol and beyond expectation! I’m so happy for my Nurse Brooklyn and Dr. Wagner for assisting me with my first and ever birth experience! They
Terrible experience, nurses are extremely rude. Encountered 1 nice nurse. The negative comments are accurate. If you want to be cared for don’t go here and if you do make sure your family is involved or they will take advantage of you. They
South Health Campus holds the spot for best hospital in Calgary, and this is surely for good reason! While remote, the space is beautifully situated near local shops, a library and a theater, and is highly maintained at that. The building
Spare yourself the frustration and disrespectful staff and go elsewhere. By far the rudest group of staff in emergency. You’ll be lucky to get inside in under 3 hours and be prepared to wait even longer from there. Sit in pain or sickness
Worst experience of my life. Spent 10 hours without seeing a doctor. Never got to know what I had, they didn’t know. Not sure how long they were going to let me stay there for. Only one doctor for 1000 patients. Worst medical experience.
As well as the Security was cruel to my son even hurt him very rude staff one staff member bullyed my son daily maken up her own rules as she went along , for I Inquired about her & was told not to listen to her , when i complained i
I have an appointment at 10:25 am for the bone and joint clinic. I arrived at 10 in the morning. 25 minutes early for my appointment. but I still had to wait for 3 hours before my name was called. What is the use of doing appointment
The Doctors, nurses, volunteers are all amazing and try to make you feel as safe and comfortable as they can. They are so warm and nice. It makes a bad experience feel a little better. I am so great full for all there help and time!
One of the newest Hospital in Calgary. Very cleaned and neat here. They are street parking around to campus. They have friendly stuff here and they are here to help you. If you need to go to the hospital this is the one I would go.
8 hours to get a cast, but it was busy, and there were clearly people more in need than I was. Everyone was so polite, caring and helpful. They were doing there best and although it was a long wait, they were all very accomidating.
Wonderful facility! Clean, well run, and efficient. I had the good fortune and pleasure of having Dr. Paul McBeth assigned as my surgeon. He is a gifted professional with exceptional technical skills, the ability to execute that
This hospital has an inability to manage the urgent care. Wait times are always hours and that is if you even get in without being told it’s to late to perform time sensitive tests that the staff were informed of upon arrival.
I was in the hospital yesterday for a hip resurfacing and have to admit the the care three was beyond outstanding. I would like thank nurses that looked after me. I would also thank Dr Jim Mckenzie and the physio staff.
Everyone made my stay comfortable an professional. The nurses on my floor ran off there feet but still found time to check on my would recommend anytime .I was in the respiratory illness floor …
Morning staff nurses ignore you a lot I hit my call button 7 times and nobody showed up. Had to get dressed by myself and take my own iv out. Doctors and surgeons are all very knowledgeable though
Worst emerg. There is. 7+hr wait time after we got emergency flown home from mexico. Sitting in pain, nurses said they would bring meds and never did. Will be avoiding this hospital at all costs.
I had a call with the receptionist and she was very rude. I had explained her my situation and felt very bad. She talked to me in a rude tone and to make me feel even worse. Very unprofessional.
Always had great experience birthing my 2 babies there:) very comfortable units and nice staff. They even had private washrooms inside the rooms and comfortable place for dads to rest.
Honestly I'm shocked at how dirty this hospital is... short staffed it's just gone down hill... floors were absolutely disgusting... old blood and dried up yuck! Shame on AHS.
Pretty polite staff, but once you enter this hospital you’ll have to wait 3+ hours just to get checked. Even if you sliced you finger.
The best hospital in the city! I had both my boys here and the staff is incredibly friendly! It's also a beautiful building
I had one day surgery here, I felt like staying at 5 Stars hotel. Doctors and nurses are AMAZING. Many thanks to all ♥️♥️
Just the worst place to visit as an emergency . Waiting time when I arrive was 1 hour and 10 minutes. Spend 4 hours.
One of the Cleanest and most beautiful hospital Ive been. Staff is pleasant and professional!
