Finally came to check this place out for lunch on a Sunday. We ordered the pork and shrimp tapioca dumpling in banana leaves wrapping, a #14 rare beef, flank, and tendon pho, and a combo #1 vermicelli with spring rolls, charbroiled pork, etc. The tapioca dumpling was a first-try for us. It was nice and soft, definitely a signature of this restaurant. There is also ones without the banana leaves for people who don't like the taste of them left on the tapioca. The soup base was tasty and came out hot. Our favourite was the combo since it had quite a lot of toppings. The spring rolls were super yummy and crispy, definitely get them in a combo vermicelli or as an appetizer. Our friend ordered a coffee but was disappointed that it did not come with the traditional drip with the cup like other Vietnamese restaurants. It just came in a takeout cup although the taste was ok. Overall, it was a great experience dining here.

My favourite Viet place in town. Great service from everyone, giant portions of food and the taste was top tier. I come here every time I'm in Calgary. Their beef tartare is the most famous and I can see why. Sliced thinly and combined with a vinegary sauce to cut out all the fat meatiness, it was divine. So two boys that went to the restaurant and order two dishes, one for each of them. Their Pho is mental and their service was fast and friendly.

Price: Very good for the proportion given Service: Quick, easy, and friendly Food: No questions asked, fantastic! The single pricing is the normal size for the dishes and upgrading to the XL size would only be an extra $3. My girlfriend and I got two separate dishes, I got the number 9 (forgot the name, my apologies) and my girlfriend got number 28 (Spring roll with pork chop vermicelli). Both of these dishes looked very delicious and tasted amazing. We also got the rare beef salad (I think this is what it's called) as the appetizer but sadly I couldn't get a photo of it since it was gone before I could take my phone out. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to people wanting to explore more Viet dishes.

This was one of the best Vietnamese meals I ever had! The place is a bit tucked away, but it wasn't difficult to find. It was a bit intimidating when I realized I was the only Caucasian person there (and I was dining alone), but was quickly put at ease - the staff was very welcoming and there were a lot of young families dining. The food came quickly and it was absolutely delicious! The pricing is very, very budget friendly. Huge thumbs up - great food, great customer service, great prices. Highly recommend!

One of the small handful of places that offers a good bun bo hue with pork blood cubes in it. I’m not sure I enjoy the beef carpacio (bo tai chanh) as much anymore because the recent times the slices were very frozen and stuck together in a stack and the employee told me that is their style. It took a while for it to defrost if hardly so that dish was slightly disappointing because that is one of their specialty. The interior is bright, vibrant but still homey in a way. Their hours cater to people working around the area and during the daytime as they close earlier than most other restaurants do. Parking lot is slightly small and tight and may fill up quickly.

Bun Hen, Bun Bo Hue and the spring rolls are all tasty. If you're craving some delicious authentic Vietnamese food; this it the spot. They use the rice paper for the spring rolls which is the style of spring rolls I prefer ( me and my husband always share the large order). They have a very tasty bo tai chanh which is raw beef with a citrus sauce. It might be weird at first but its really just a vietnamese version of beef tartare. I really enjoy the bun hen which is rice vermicelli with sate clams. Its just so flavourful.

  • Yvonne

As a born and raised Calgarian, this is by far the best Vietnamese restaurant in Calgary to have bun bo hue! Their thin rice noodles give you more broth with each slurp. Beef brisket, Vietnamese sausage and blood as toppings give so much flavor. Their tapioca dumplings and rare beef in lime sauce is also unique and extremely tasty. Service is quick and efficient, if you're in a rush for a meal, you can easily eat and be out of here in 30 mins. Cannot express how happy I am with their new location.

  • Best of the best

Everything was nice, but the food was cold when served. It is also hard to find with the small sign they have. Just look, and it's in the most unusual, quiet location.

The atmosphere of this Vietnamese restaurant is modern, clean and comfortable. The service was fast and efficient. The broth of pho was very clean; however, it had depth. Vegetables for pho and spring roll were incredibly fresh. Especially, deep fried spring rolls were insanely delicious. Even portion for every dish was generous for money. This restaurant's become our new number one Vietnamese restaurant in Calgary. I'd like to visit again soon and try different kinds of food.

  • Carmella Coo

In my humble opinion, the best bun bo hue in Calgary. The broth is clear, yet flavourful. I personally really like the authenticity of the pork blood, but may not be for everyone. The Raw beef dish is also delicious. Tangy, topped with crispy onions and basil. Portion sizes are also quite decent for the price.

Love the bun bo hue here, it's the best in town. Had to take one star off because the Bo tai chanh (raw beef with lime sauce) which used to be one of our favorite dishes isn't as good lately (cut too thick so it's chewy and takes a long time to defrost).

what is the point of separating the noodles and the broth if it doesn't fit in one bowl? Poured the broth into the noodle bowl and lost 1/4 of the broth to overflow. The mess was very difficult to clean up. Buy bigger bowls, or make smaller portions and adjust your price. Also, are these spaghetti noodles? weird choice. broth tasted like hot water. total lack of flavour. The meat was good. The choice of a desert spoon made it difficult to eat.

  • Ashley Cote

Absolute BEST Bo Tai Chanh (raw beef salad) in the city. I've tried it other Vietnamese restaurants, theirs are not bad, but Song's just makes it so good. Most flavour and a good portion for the price. I've also had some other items on their menu (Bun Bo Hue, vermicelli bowls, and other appies), all were good, but the Bo Tai Chanh is out of this world. I've been here probably 20 times in the last 3 years.

SAVE YOUR MONEY, it’s not worth going here!! Probably the worst Vietnamese restaurant I have ever had. I went there for lunch, and the food was poor, as was the service. They took so long to get the meal out that we had to go ask for it. she literally came back with an attitude and threw the food in our faces. Needless to say, we won’t be coming back.

Great place for Vietnamese food! Known for their Bun Bo Hue, but you should definitely try these appetizers: tapioca dumpings and sliced rare beef. Family friendly, and great service- they gave us a small bowl and pair of scissors without us asking when they saw we were dining with a young toddler. I've been here a few times and every time the food is really good and comes really fast. Highly recommend!

Great service with a simple atmosphere. It gets relatively busy here (always someone in and out). The quality is fresh and portions are large. The pricing is reflective of what you get and then some. Food, pho broth and taste is all delicious. This is a worthwhile place to drive to (which also seems to be hidden and its own industrial area). Very authentic and will be visiting again.

  • Adriana M

Some of the best Vietnamese I've had. They maintain complexity of flavour in something as simple as chicken broth. The spring rolls had a lovely crispy batter that did not overwhelm what was inside. It's easy to see why they created such a loyal following over the past 14 years. The new location has a neat lay out: it makes for cozy meals. It's an awesome date night location.

The pho was superb with that chilli paste and phew!! I also thank Vietnam for inventing pho! Its the most "light" heavy food one can eat!! Looking forward to more pho!

This is a secret gem of a restaurant. Buried in the North East industrial area of South airways park, this is a fabulous restaurant. They serve the mainstays of pho, vermicelli bowls, and rice dishes. We were here on a Saturday evening and the place was constantly busy. I highly recommend the pho #20 ( I don't care for tripe). The food was fabulous and the prices reasonable.

  • Michael Pascual

Absolutely amazing! Just wow. Their broth tastes incredible, this is going to be my new benchmark when reviewing Pho restaurants. Not only that, their sidedishes are very unique and just so flavorful that no other Vietnamese restaurants I've visited before comes close to them. A++ will definitely come back and bring my friends and family to this place

  • Alison Grigg

We had 3, 20, and 42 and enjoyed everything. The crispy spring rolls (3) are rice paper and absolutely delicious- not to mention a very reasonable portion size! The rare beef soup (20) was delicious as well and not too salty. Very clean and lovely staff and atmosphere inside- we will definitely be back and telling our friends!

I’ve kept coming back for their signature #8, with chicken instead of beef. Great soup, great blend of veges instead of the boring bean sprouts, always cooked right rice noodles!! Soup and noodles are separately packed, and I still get quality food when I get home. Girls at reception are superb, always get my orders right xD

Ample seating, staff are really nice and courteous! I got the #8 in extra large (XL) and trust me that's a lot of food! They did not provide basil or bean sprouts but rather lettuce and shredded purple cabbage. It's definitely different and I like it! They have a selection of Viennese coffee which looks great! Limited parking in front.

Amazing flavours! Very authentic Vietnamese, which is harder to find in this city. They're well known for their Bun Bo Hue and the rare beef dish, which I see on every table every time I go. The beef is marinated in lime juice and topped with onions, Thai basil, fried garlic, and peanuts. It's a very refreshing mix of flavours!

A staple of Vietnamese Restaurants in Calgary. Must try the bun bo hue. Generous portions. XL is quite big for those with a big appetite. Bo Tai Chanh is rare to see on menus as its just rare beef, but is amazing to have everytime. 2 must have items off the menu everytime.

I didn't like the blood pudding in my pho but they provided lots of veggies to put in my bowl. The broth was ok but nothing special to me. The same goes for its noodle. Update: I actually got so disgusted by the concept of the blood pudding that couldn't get myself go back to the restaurant anymore.

  • Paskal S

Not amazing. I love Asian food, but the food served here might be a bit too authentic for most westerners. The dumplings were gelatinous and chewy and the Pho broth was sweet...eww... Service was not attentive. The place was packed with Asian people though... So it must be enjoyable to some people.

Such good food. Grab lunch here many times as I work closed by. Ordered their BBH every time. For whoever doesn't know, that's Viet traditional noodles, not spaghettis (I saw a customer review below and I lol). The only thing that I would like to add on is that I hope they open more often
