We talked with Joe a number of months before the renovation but at that time we were focused on renovating the interior so we had it in mind of what we wanted to do but left it for a few months. We contacted Joe in August which was a number of months later and he asked if we were ready to do this and the interior was looking good but the exterior was shabby so I was more than ready to get going on it. We heard originally October but to my surprise they started in September. First was to take off the siding and stucco. Hands off to Chris who worked his butt off while battling health issues. Getting that stucco off was a real chore but he did it without making a mess of everything. He cleaned up as he went daily and we didn't have to live through construction garbage being left around. Eavestroughs were the second last thing and they did a fantastic job channeling water smartly away from the property. We had some water damage from our previous system and Joe's team replaced the damaged wood and put in better eavestroughs. The last part was the garage door and now the house looks brand new again. Five stars all around and if you are looking for someone who you can trust and sticks to his work then I would recommend Smart Home Building Systems any day. We contracted this company to put siding on our home and replace two exterior doors. The work was done to a very high quality standard. Andrew, the foreman, was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He kept us informed of the progress and asked our opinion where design choices could be made. The crew paid attention to detail and took the time required to do the job properly. They are obviously skilled tradesmen. The finished product was perfect, looks excellent. During Sept/Oct 2020 we had a Exterior Envelop Upgrade completed by Smart Home that included a new metal roof, hardy siding, soffits, fascia, eavestroughing and a very large front window that previous contractors priced too high because they did not want to replace it. We obtained multiple quotes from multiple contractors but Joe had by far the best presentation and answered all our questions and treated all of our concerns as serious. Joe also had many before and after pictures of the projects Smart Home had completed and provided multiple references that answered the phone and clearly loved the job Smart Home had done on their home. One lady even invited me over for a coffee and showed off her home that was beautifully done. The two crews that performed the work were exceptional and clearly cared more about getting the job done right vs getting the job done fast. We highly recommend Smart Home.

We saw Smart Home's sign in our neighbourhood and called them to inquire about roof installation. The owner, Joe, was very kind, friendly, and accommodating. The service itself was amazing! Despite working in the colds of winter, the workers were very hardworking and finished everything thoroughly and efficiently. Trevor, their foreman, responded well to our feedback and quickly fixed the minor things we weren't satisfied with. The BEST experience with any contractor I ever could have imagined. From first estimate to the install of a new roof, gutters and fascia, every part of the process was top tier. Joe and the whole team at Smart Home treated me with the urgency and professionalism as if I was their #1 priority and could not have been easier to work with. The Installation and end result was immaculate and the work is beautiful; The installation team was very time efficient, transparent through the process, and the cleanup was as if they were never there. If the quality of work done to your home is the absolute most important thing (which it should be) there is no doubt in my mind Smart Home is the best contractor available and I would recommend them to absolutely anyone in need of work!

We decided to replace some EasyRock around our front door. We got two quotes. Smart Home was the second. Joe came out to look at what we wanted to do. He took some pictures and measurements. He invited us to his shop to look at a 3D rendering of our home. We got to do a lot of "What ifs" and we finally settled on Hardie board. We then booked the installer. When Caz came out he was very friendly and professional. He took his time to make sure everything was correct for our project. Ours may not be one of Smart Homes biggest projects, but we were treated like it was. We will book them again next year to finish the remainder of the exterior. My wife and I are so pleased with the finished product! We've had neighbours stop and admire the work.

They totally removed all old siding and window capping, applied 1&1/2 inch styrofoam insulation, installed all new vinyl siding, recapped all windows and installed new eavestrough. I found the workers to be very knowledgeable, efficient and professional. They provided high quality work and did not overlook any repair work needed prior to siding. We were recommended Smart Home Building System as we were considering getting solar panels installed and needed our shingles replaced. Joe came to our home and walked us through our old asphalt roofing replacement options and metal roof pricing. We were very fortunate that they were able to prioritize our house quickly in their queue due to missing shingles on our existing roof. June was not a great month for our roof here in Calgary . The first major rainstorm opened up a spot on our roof for a major leak. I called everyone and only Joe said they could do something. He had his crew out on our roof at 11 pm that night sealing it so our home was not destroyed. Within a couple of weeks his crews had our full roof replaced. We can’t thank Joe enough for saving our home and getting the roof replaced. Our roof looks fantastic and the clean up made it seem like they were never there. The neighbors all watched them have the roof replaced in less than 8 hours. 11/10

I initially worked with Derek and Andrew, which were both wonderful, honest, and understanding as I had a roof leak (and much to my surprise, I needed a new roof). I then had Chris and his team replace my roof and they were great - Chris sent a morning and afternoon update and also would send me texts as needed. Overall, a great team and great service. I had worked with Smart Home in the past (minor roof repair), and my sister had her roof done with them, so I decided on Smart Home largely based on their customer service, quick response time, and quality work.

This is the 2nd time I have used Smart Home Building Systems Ltd. This time, I used their services to replace a garage door (man door), front door and storm door (screen door). Good quality work as always - work was delayed by the weather since it rained so much but they can't control that. The only thing I wasn't super pleased with was a lag in communications from the project manager but the owner was right on it. 10/10 would use them again for any job and would recommend them for any work you might need done. They are absolutely worth every penny.

It has improved the curb appeal of our home as well as making sure our windows are secure and energy efficient, and also providing easy care and maintenance. It was important to me to have company that would do my roof, soffits, fascia and eavestroughs all at the same time. My son and I went to Joe’s showroom to see exactly what was to be done. It wasn’t just shingles but layers of protection and also the choice of colours was excellent. The workers cleaned up every night and were very neat and tidy. This “team” installed our new roof. Professional, on time & quality work just to name a few things. I researched a new roof with 8 different roofing companies. I have a steep pitched A-frame that required special consideration. Joe was the only one who insisted on "the extra step" of venting for additional airflow. What I liked most was how they were always cleaning as they went, and they laid out tarps on the grass all around my house before they started taking the old shingles off. Covered my deck with plywood before putting a ladder on it. Trevor the installer was super skilled and fast.
