Every time I enter this establishment the staff are rude, arrogant and condescending. To make matters worse, everything here is atrociously overpriced. Just because an item is labeled as “organic” doesn’t give the right for staff to be arrogant and charge extortionate prices for goods. Save your money and go somewhere else where you will receive products at market value and will be treated pleasantly and with respect. This store embodies what is wrong with Kensington.

Although a much smaller location than the one in East village, you still get the good service and same quality baked goods as you would. There is a slightly smaller variety here - given the smaller space. Ordered the vegan spice cookie and bread pudding here to go. There isn't a sitting spot (especially during covid times). Everything is reasonably priced ($3-7) and fresh (not stale). Worth a visit to this spot which is also located within a small market.

What a bakery! This place has amazing pastries and cookies. I don't venture into the vegan items but what I do know is that the almond and chocol croissants are quote addictive so... Buyer beware. Strawberry and dark chocolate scone, that is extremely delicious as well.... Doesn't seem like a traditional scone feels more like a dessert. And that is OKAY. Thank you for satisfying my pastry needs!

Update: They improved their pizza--last couple times it was a bit too crispy. Definitely the best pizza in Calgary. Quality, well seasoned and generous toppings (like steak) paired with a sourdough crust at a reasonable price, makes their pizzas unbeatable. Sometimes they give you a massive piece for no reason which makes it an even more incredible value. Makes me feel like I stole it.

Incredible sourdough bread. Their deli also makes some of the best daily rotating sandwiches in the city. Everyday they have a daily meat and veggie sandwich and meat and veggie pizza. Soups are good, but overpriced in my opinion. Plenty of other baked goods also available. Only a few seats on the bar by the window for eating. It's a pickup-and-go kind of setup.

Love the fresh baked goods at Sidewalk Citizen. The odd thing for me is that I react badly to food made with wheat however I am able to eat products from here. I have kept it to sourdough items but their selection is so good I want to expand my selections. For those without food sensitivities, do yourself a favor and check out their fabulous products.

Accidentally found this on a walk one day. New to the city and couldn’t remember where it was. Had to find it! So glad I did and have discovered the one in the east village along the river walk. I have tried a variety of goods and have not been disappointed. Some popular items sell out early. Just go! Try it out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

This place is so good that it constitutes a driving hazard. I have swerved across oncoming traffic all because their pastries were beckoning me, like sirens to Odysseus.* Sidewalk Citizen is a national treasure. If I could give this bakery more stars, I would. *This is not a legal admission of guilt or wrongdoing.

My favourite sourdough bread in all of Calgary. The starter is years old and creates a bread with thick crunchy crust and fluffy dough in the centre (that they also use in store to make their daily meat and vegetarian pizza). This is also a great place to pick up your local, organic, and other specialized foods.

  • Vanfoodiepharmily

@sidewalkcitizen offers delicious organic baked goods. The ham and Monterey Jack mixed well with the extra crunch from the pickles. Of course I always appreciate the little bit of arugula mixed with mustard dressing. The sourdough was super

This place is awesome, love the vibe, staff are friendly and the food is great! The pizza is always amazing with surprisingly delicious combos, the sourdough bread is fresh/very tasty and the chocolate croissants are the best in the city!

  • Irene Shaw

Appreciated the friendly & helpful service I received from all the staff here while on a too short vacation in Calgary this Aug. - Sept.! I enjoyed a delicious chocolate Vegan cookie! Other tempting Vegan treats & options available here!

  • Talia Barry

Blonde haired baker and brown curly haired baker and extremely rude. Didn’t even tell me when the pizza was waiting on the counter and they saw me waiting. When I said hi they looked away and didn’t say hi back. Awful customer service.

  • Aaron Sereda

Best sandwiches I’ve ever had, veggie or meat - they never disappoint. The pizza is fantastic too - whole or by the slice. Sourdough loaves are top-notch, as are the sourdough croissants! A regular stop. Love this place.

  • Ray Z

The bistro has great bakery products and food. Has a grocery store with a lot of ethnic foods. Real community vibe. Definitely a place I would make time to check out and grab a sandwich from.

  • Carina Kwok

Yum!!! The sticky buns are so tasty. The almond croissants are divine; they're almost like a Danish with the amount of filling they contain. The Sourdough loaves are worth every penny...

  • Lo Sinclair

Great food! Veg & meat options available for pizza slices and sandwiches. The baked goods & bread are always fresh & delicious. While the food is delicious, it is a bit pricey.

  • Suzan Harb

When I went there it was already pass 6 and they close at 8, there wasn't much choices. Small area to set. I would say good for a quick and simple bites for adult not family.

  • Zowie Jones

Great service for custom orders and with staff in the shop, my only issue is that I found the pastries to be too sweet for my taste. The savoury treats were divine though!

  • JayJay- tripz

The lay out is weird . The menus are differnt from what i seen online. Over priced. Just left with out buying . Didnt feel welcome . Odd customer base . Might try again.

  • Fumi Balogun

I enjoy their fresh salads, however think they could have more options with their sandwiches (or at least not run out of one of the only two options to choose from).

  • Peter

By far one of my favorite dessert places. The sticky buns are the best in the city hands down. The chocolate croissants are also exceptional. Highly recommend!

  • Eviee E.

Fantastic baked goods, breads and pastries! The hardest part is choosing what delicious item you want to stuff in your face as there are so many good choices!

  • Tyler Bogner

Great food, great staff. A little pricey but that is expected for high quality organic food. The daily sandwiches are amazing and same with the pizza.

  • john espanol

Went in for lunch takeout . The food taste really good. A small soup and salad cost me 24.00! Seems pricey for the amount you get.

  • Aisha Ahmed

The food is amazing and fresly prepared! Definitely my go to place for a quick snack or lunch! The baked goods are delicious!

  • Kim W

Amazing baked goods with quality ingredients. Go early if you can, as the day progresses the options and quantity decrease.

  • John Chik

A great place for sourdough bread (Red Fife is good), baguettes and other baked goods! It is within the Sunnyside market.

  • Whimsy Ashley

Delicious food and their food is very unique, the pastries were alright, but the breakfast menu options were fantastic.

  • Khaled Alsoubani

Very rude on the phone and also did not give any attention and refused to take order because my mother was with me More

  • Kelsey Duffield

All of their baked goods are fantastic, especially the pizza (meat or vegetarian) and sticky buns!

  • Bernardo Rodriguez

I love your Rye bread, but I can never buy it because you only do it on Fridays… please make more!

  • JP Levesque

One of the best bakeries in town. They do savory quite well and their sweets aren't overly sweet.

  • James Nottingham

Fresh and tasty food. They were out of hummus, but they substituted labneh which was delicious.

  • Cameron Bird

Great staff great selection this place is a gem in Kensington and the bread is to die for

  • Twetie Sylvester

Excellent choices of locally grown organic food and a great kitchen for lunch and dinner

  • Byron Sieben

Although things taste good, I find it very expensive for what you get at this location.

  • Hayley Martin

Everything here is SO GOOD! And everyone that works here is so incredibly friendly

  • Jamie

Not cheap, but excellent baked goods (and pizza!) - but you get what you pay for.

Melt in your mouth cinnamon brioche. Their bread pudding is excellent as well.

Not as great a bakery as the one by the river. More of a store than a bakery.
