"This is our 3 year at Short and I am thrilled that I have found such a great place"
Excerpted from LAUSD Superintendent Dr. John Deasy's endorsement letter to prospective parents 4/5/2013: " I have walked through the classrooms of this school and observed examples of first rate-rate teaching where students are engaged and actively learning ... I could feel the strong sense of community in the school among teachers, students and parents ... the academic performance of the school is strong. Our internal calculations estimate that the API for 2011 would have been 864 (not counting the invalidated scores), and for the 2012, the school would have scored 834...I am proud of the new principal, Cindy Paulos, and all that she has accomplished in the past year. She is a strong instructional leader and well-respected by the staff and parents. Ms. Paulos has also developed monitoring procedures to ensure that there will be no issues with testing this year. As you tour the school and interact with the teachers, staff and students, you will recognize the sense of dedication and devotion from all stakeholders. I am convinced that Short Ave. will be the best choice for your child." [Interesting to note, just losing a blank test booklet is considered an irregularity.]
Short ave. is mainly overlooked by many parents but if you are reading this message PLEASE DON'T OVERLOOK THIS WONDERFUL SCHOOL!!!! This school is extraordinary in many different ways! The teachers are kind, respectful, and are the kind of people who will do their best to not let your child fall behind because they care greatly. The new principle of this fine educational establishment has made many changes for the better! I have had the pleasure of attending this school and loving/enjoying it, very much and would like to thank the teachers who have helped me grow with knowledge! This school has many clubs and activities during and after school. They even have 2 teachers meant for learning a new language referred to as latin. Please acknowledge this school and don't have your child miss out this remarkable place I am almost 100% sure that they will enjoy it as much as i did!
My son is finishing his second year at Short. I can't say enough good things about this school. The teachers are the cream of the crop. My son is learning, he's happy, he's challenged, and he's loved. An added bonus is that I have met so many wonderful families through Short. We now have friends all over the neighborhood and feel a real sense of community. We are so happy that we sent our son to Short and feel lucky to have access to such a nurturing, academically robust school.
My son has attended this school for kindergarten and first grade. I cannot say enough good things about the dedication of the teachers. The small, community feeling of the school is amazing- it is a true neighborhood school in the midst of Los Angeles.
This is our 3 year at Short and I am thrilled that I have found such a great place. I am so grateful to Mrs. Reynolds and all of my sons' teachers. They all work hard each day.
