My experience at this pharmacy is the worst experience I have ever had at any pharmacy. The most surprising part was that I was helped by the store owner, Azita, herself! You would think that as a store owner you would be extra polite to customers to encourage business into your store, but this was not the case with Azita. I came in as a new customer as I had just moved to this city. As Azita was entering my prescriptions and information, she was condescending when she asked if I had any allergies. I responded by saying that I had no drug allergies. She looks up at me with a condescending look and says, "what about food?" to which I then informed her that I have a food allergy to peanuts. She rudely responds, "well, that's an allergy isn't it? I asked if you had any allergies." The old pharmacy I went to never asked for food allergies so I did not know. Even if this is normal protocol, she should not be speaking in this tone. When I picked up my prescriptions, I had noticed that insurance did not cover my medications so I phoned Azita when I arrived home. I asked her if she could fix my last name (as they spelled it wrong) and to remove my middle name off their system since insurance does not recognize my middle name. She then lectures me about how she knows a lot about insurance and how this wouldn't work. She clearly was annoyed with me asking for help with my drug coverage. How ridiculous! The store owner at the pharmacy I went to back home was always respectful of patients and was eager to help out all the time. Not Azita! Do not give her your business.
We had appointments for Covid vaccination, after finding out they were calling people to cancel, my partner and I both monitored our phone to make sure we don't miss the call. However we didn't receive any calls so we went to the appointment. They checked us in. While I was filling the form one of the staff told me I'm not eligible but my partner is. The weirdest thing is they gave the shot to my partner (had a history of Asthma but he didn't have any proof with him, nor was he asked for one!) but they didn't give it to me even though I had my psychiatrist's note and prescription with me. 1. If our appointments were cancelled why did they check us in in the first place? The appointment was still clearly in their system but the pharmacist refused to acknowledge that the staff had made a mistake of not calling us to cancel. 2. After calling 811 I found out that neither of us were eligible, so why are they randomly deciding who to gave the shot to?! I don't have a problem with not getting the vaccine, when we booked it we thought they had extra on hand (as they had told people.) My problem is with the way they handled the situation. Not calling us to cancel the appointment, while I had to have someone cover my shift and miss work (The cost of this vaccine I didn't even get was $200 for me), and then giving us attitude and denying that they had made a mistake.
I had a uniquely unpleasant experience yesterday afternoon at this Shoppers location, and I will never return. I was followed through the store and then accosted by a security guard, who accused me of stealing. Never in my life has this happened to me. From the moment I walked in, he was at the door and gave me an uncomfortable look. I had come to this location to check if they had a certain facial sunscreen in stock. I checked, and they did not. So, I decided to walk and check that I hadn't forgotten to pick up anything else I needed while I was there, as some things were on sale throughout store. I got an uncomfortable feeling I was being followed, and saw this man was following me around the store, through toiletry and cleaning supply aisles. Feeling very uncomfortable, I decided to just leave. He stopped me and said "are you going to pay for your purchases?" I was mortified. I replied I had not bought anything. Yes, I did have a reusable bag with items in it from a day of shopping, but this seemed to be his only "evidence" that I had stolen something. Luckily, he didn't push me or else I would have pulled out receipts and debit transactions from earlier in the day. I also did not set off any alarms, as expected since I did not take anything. I felt this treatment bordered on harassment. Suffice it to say, I will not be returning to this location.
The store is fine but the pharmacy staff are incompetent to say the least. My benefits plan switched to an e-card that didn't have the "carrier ID" on it. The pharmacy staff could not cope with this, and asked me several times why I didn't have a card. They fumbled around for 30 minutes telling me my plan was not active (I've used it elsewhere), my plan was for dental only (the e-card I had said in large letters "DRUG PLAN", I pointed this out to the tech but she wouldn't listen). After wasting my time, I paid out of pocket. I later mentioned this experience to a friend who is a pharmacist in another city. She laughed and knew the carrier ID for my provider off by heart because it's one of Canada's largest benefits providers. Even if she didn't know the number, she said it can be easily found in a 5 second google search. 0/10, wasted half an hour of my life here. If the pharmacy staff can't even figure out a minor issue like this, I don't trust them to provide medicine. Edit: no. I'm not going to waste more of my life by phoning your 1-800 number and probably waiting on hold for two hours before talking to a human. I've detailed my issue above. If you can't figure out how to improve the experience based on that, then you're a lost cause.
I showed up today to get booked for a covid vaccine as I was told they were making appointments for anyone so the extra doses would not be wasted. I asked 3 staff members if they were going to let us know if they had enough; as to not waste my time. They responded with "we have 500 extra doses, so if you are in the store you will be fine!" After 2 hours of being in the store, and 4th until the front, I was told they had changed the plan and that it was now only 55 and older who could book. This was at 435pm. After a lady asked the pharmacist what was going on and how they could change this and not tell anyone; she informed the 40 or so people standing around, that she knew this was the case when she got in at 315pm. So they blatenly wasted hundreds of peoples time who have jobs and took time off and didn't care. The manager Tim finally came out and said it wasn't his fault there was no communication between his pharmacy and the staff letting people in... I mean, he is only the manager! It's not like it's his job to make sure there is proper communication between staff! At the end of the day, they said sorry, but its still not our fault, call AHS or someone else because we are not going to justify ourselves.
If I could give them a negative star rating I would. PLEASE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. This pharmacy had the gall to tell hundreds of people that they were able to book appointments to receive the Pfizer vaccine because they had extra unused vaccine that was otherwise going to go to waste. They confirmed to everyone waiting in line that you did not have to be of a certain age - anyone could book. They advised on several occasions they had 500 extra doses and assured people they should wait in line. I was in line for over two hours, only to be told at 4:30 pm that the pharmacist knew at 3:00 pm AHS had advised them they could not book such appointments. People took time away from work to stand in line for hours on the hopes of getting an appointment to receive an extra unused vaccine dose that would otherwise expire only to be told hours later "JUST KIDDING". The level of incompetence is beyond intolerable. I would not trust this location, the manager who failed to communicate to his customers, nor the pharmacists who failed to communicate on THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO PEOPLE RIGHT NOW. I will never step foot in this business again and I would hope out of principal you won't either.
The worst pharmacy. I don’t know if they’re just short staffed or if they’re horribly trained and incompetent. So extremely slow and ask “personal questions” out loud in front of other patients. Really glad that the people behind me know why I’m taking certain meds and hear me tell them my full name, date of birth, phone number and address just to confirm who I am. Also not helping patients in the correct order of arrival. I think the best part is how much they charge for prescriptions compared to other pharmacies. Had a prescription filled for my newborn and they charged me $80. Had it filled at another pharmacy the second time and it was $23. The exact same prescription. And they don’t answer their phones. While waiting for my prescription along with many other patients, they all just let the phones ring. Completely understand the frustration with other reviews and no one answering their calls. Go elsewhere if you can to avoid the frustration. If I could give 0 stars I would. That star is for the front staff and post office who are always very friendly, not the pharmacy.
I've been going to this location for many years for my prescriptions, usually the service/staff is adequate at best, but today, if I hadn't been paying attention, my paid-for prescriptions would have been re-paid for by another customer, and been given to that customer along with her other prescriptions. I was speaking with the pharmacist on the side and I noticed my prescriptions were no longer on the counter, but someone was bagging another woman's prescriptions. I asked for the staff member (middle aged woman black hair, black and gold glasses) to check the bag because I believed mine were in with the other customer's, which they were. The staff member didn't look at me, apologize or seem at all bothered by this mix up that could have been incredibly serious. I don't want this to happen to anyone else, and I was lucky that I noticed this error. Checking names of prescriptions should be the bare minimum when handing someone multiple bags of medications.
Either the pharmacy my is understaffed or incompetent. Needing to pick up a prescription faxed from a doctor, I phoned six times to confirm it was ready. Finally the call connected and I was put on hold for 30 minutes. Eventually I drove across the city, only to be told they hadn’t yet received the fax. The 15 minutes I waited in line, every few minutes a loudspeaker announced ‘Pharmacy line 101.’ The doctor’s office confirmed they had faxed the prescription. Day two I tried phoning and was put on hold after getting though on the fifth try. After 65 minutes on hold, I hung up. I tried the 1-800 number listed in the replies to the similar complaints below. They were unable to reach the pharmacy, but sent an email. Calling from two different phones (no point in just waiting on hold) I I eventually talked to a person. They say they are busy, but clearly from the numerous complaints nobody cares enough to address this ongoing problem.
I just had a run around here with the pharmacy assistant and the pharmacist working here. After verifying all my info, the assistant insisted that my medications for pick up were not there. I asked him 3 times to check the other drawers and behind him, as I could see a lot of medications on the table. He kept refusing to, and finally after a few minutes he checked the table behind him and my prescriptions were there, exactly where I told him to look. All the while the pharmacist was smirking away as though their customers are there to provide entertainment for them. The pharm assistant then proceeded to ask me for ID, Without apologizing for making me stress unnecessarily, and give me false information that they don't have my medications. He was prepared for me to leave without my prescriptions, and if I didn't keep asking him I would have left thinking that it was my fault.
Normally I’m used to the typical annoyances with this location ( the pharmacy team ( not pharmacist) always seem to be slightly incompetent) How ever today I walked my 30 pound dog to the store like I have 20 other times trying to kill 2 birds one stone And as soon as I walked in the make up girl got authoritive and tried to refuse me getting my meds. I said this time is the last time and she said ok.Then the make up greeter sent a 15 yr old kid to try to re tell me he’s not allowed in. S I’ve called ahead of time and been it’s ok in the past so this was especially frustrating. But to have that woman resend some poor kid to re robocop me. Now they lost a customer. I’ve had it with this location. It was clearly done just to aggravate me. This store is slowly going down hill!!! You should never try to provoke your customers.
On July 26, 2022 around 2 pm, I wanted return headphones and was shocked by the way supervisor handled this situation. I explained that the headphones I bought not working well on my phone, so supervisor took them in the back, TRIED THEM ON, came back to me and said it’s working and refused the refund. I was shocked because first, it’s anti-sanitary to try my headphones and give me them back, second, it was within 30 days and he could easily provide a refund or store credit but instead he said I opened the box and he won’t be able to resell so no refund. He could easily help me with refund but chose to refuse. When I went to another shoppers drug mart location they just provided refund and apologized. The supervisor in Kensington location is not doing his job right
Unbelievably difficult to deal with but convenient location. Edit: July 2022 - After waiting a long time for things to improve, if anything service and timeliness gets worse. Finally gave up and found a new pharmacy. Problem is because Shoppers Kensington has not done the transfer to the new pharmacy yet as they don't seem to be answering their phones or returning calls. Due to a previous insurance mess up and misplacing part of my prescription (not uncommon) I had to go back there and found they actually owed me money. It was so painful trying to get the refund with 4 staff ultimately required and a bunch more of my time, I offered to let them keep the money to get them out of my life. My advice, avoid the frustration and go elsewhere.
I work hard and care for my family I don't dress overly sketchy, but when I go to pick up medication for my sick girlfriend I get asked DOB, which is normal, but then I get asked what is your relationship, what are you picking up, does your girlfriend know you're picking this up, what is your name. The lady ahead of me was picking up medicine for a friend and she was asked only 2 questions, I've picked medicine for my girlfriend about 25 times now @ this location and every time it's like I'm under investigation. Can you stop stereotyping people or at least ask everyone the same amount of questions, because it makes me sad that you treat me like a criminal, when all I'm trying to do is care for my family
I've been going to this location for many years for my prescriptions. The service/staff is adequate at best, and giving high attention to customers and well organized. It was a stressful time during COVID with some delays, but we feel that the pharmacists are doing their best to help customers. I was speaking with the pharmacist the other day and noticed how she was burned out during covid which can creat mistakes. Sometimes, I wait in the counter and recognize their effort to satisfy the customers. I wonder how they keep their smile with all of the work overloads! I Also, the front store team is remarkable with keeping the store clean and well organized. Overall, I enjoy coming here!
Horrible pharmaceutical service. I showed up to my travel covid test and 45 minutes later the pharmacist not only greeted me with a poor and discarded attitude but still had me waiting. I understand that they are busy however they seem very unorganized and uncoordinated. She was juggling between “setting up” my test while the others sorted through medication and she ran the counter. Quite frankly very upset, she should not be attending other patients while she is in the middle of dealing with others. Everyone who came in after me seemed to be waiting for something but nothing was moving along. I recommend working on organizational skills and customer service!
Just left. Got as text 3 days ago saying my prescription was ready (they only had 2/5 of the total when I first submitted it a month ago) and would be held for 10 days. It wasn't there. Was told it was "redistributed" because it sat too long. Showed my text message from them and they just shrugged their shoulders. Pharmacist said I'd have to wait 5 minutes after the first guy told me 15-20. 10 minutes later it's ready. And they handed over 2/3 of the amount and acted like it was full. At that point I gave up and left. The women in front of me had the same messaging issue but they didn't even have drugs for her in stock, she just had to leave empty handed.
The worst pharmacy I've ever experienced. I'd submitted a prescription online via Shoppers website. Never heard anything back so tried calling to check if it was ready. They don't answer their phones. 3 times on hold and got cut off. 4th attempt I drove to the store while on hold to see 5 of them behind the counter. When I told them I submitted it online and had got an e-mail confirmation, they said there was no such thing and they never received it. Avoid this pharmacy at all costs. The staff are disorganized and incompetent and there's a clear lack of leadership in the pharmacy. Shoppers should pull the franchise from this incompetent franchisee.
Today I dropped off my prescription, and the pharmacist said it would take 15 - 20 minutes. I walked around shoppers for around a half an hour and then checked the pharmacy to see if my prescription had been filled. I then hear 3 of the pharmacists talking about how they do not have the drug I need. The lady then came up to me ( very rudely) and said they didn't have it (no apology or anything) she did however call a different shoppers for me and said she could order it in, but I needed the prescription that day. I was very disappointed because she did not apologize for the mistake, and wasn't very friendly at all. I will not be going back.
Every single time I call this pharmacy they just don’t pick up the phone. When I come into the store, it’s not busy. One time I had my boyfriend go into the store while I was calling. The phone rang, the staff PICKED UP THE PHONE and immediately put me on hold. And then did not answer the phone at all. When my boyfriend approached the staff they said they didn’t see my call on hold and had me call again. Then they picked up right away. Honestly, this is ridiculous. Pick up the freaking phone, it’s a pandemic and not all of us are able to leave the house to go ask questions about our prescriptions in person.
I have visited this location on several occasions with no issues, except for today. I was browsing around when I saw one of the pharmicist ladies eyeing me up for no reason. I grabbed what I needed from that isle and moved on to the next. When I moved over to the next isle I heard a woman over the intercom say “security complete check on all isles”. Next thing I know some girl is following me around pretending to face items. I moved over a few more times and sure enough the girl wasn’t far behind. Great job of making your customers..ex customers, feel like criminals!
I had a question about the meds in a shoppers brand product for pharmacy. I called this store as the Northhill pharmacist had just talked over me, not listening to my question, and lots of excuses so I gave up. The Kensington pharmacist, with the same information, was wonderful. Answered knowledgeably and immediately. It was important as I was about to have a medical test. If have shopped in this store snd it is nicer and friendlier than Northhill. Alas parking is my issue. But for sure I recommend it! Thank you for your help and the extra information you provided.
No one was at the till. Me and another guy were waiting at the till for 10+ minutes at around 10 in the morning. Finally realized there was a bell to ring to get service for my things. You'd be forgiven for thinking they'd be concerned about theft and whatnot considering there was zero people at the front of the store to help or watch the doors. Instead, it seems like all they care about is gossip and talking amongst themselves. Forget this place, the convenient location is just not worth it. It's much faster to just go to another Shoppers.
We were in a mad hurry, hoping to find bluetooth headphones. After entering the store we realized the electronics department was all packed up . A wonderful employee Asia took time to open all of the bins in hopes of recovering the long sought after devices. The last bin, at the bottom of the stack, was the bunker containing what we were looking for. Thinking back on my days in retail sales made me reflect on what it means to be accommodating and helpful. Thank you team at Shoppers!
Same issue as others. What's the point in having a phone line and putting people on hold if you can't handle the phone calls. I just had a simple question. I guess it is best to go elsewhere. I hung up after 15 minutes. I am not that upset, but a waste of my time. I don't plan on calling your 1-800 number, so if you ask me to call that number, I assume you don't really read the reviews and therefore don't really care what potential customers might think.
Normally I’m understanding when it comes to issues regarding wait times and workers being stressed due to COVID. However, the pharmacy at this location is completely incompetent. I have repeatedly tried to fill prescriptions here and each time there were new issues. The pharmacy assistants don’t seem to care at all. I’ve since transferred my prescriptions to a new pharmacy. Train and support your staff better, it’s no wonder the reviews here are low.
Really nasty pharmacist!!! I told her that I was in great pain from a tooth abscess. I had a prescription from my dentist for antibiotics and strong pain meds. She told me to come back in half an hour. I was surprised as there were no other pharmacy customers. I returned in half an hour, and still had to wait another half hour for my meds while she gossiped with her colleague. Is this woman on a power trip? Also I found her attitude very unpleasant.
Had a very unpleasant experience buying medications. Pharmacist named Rasha firs refused taking our benefit card, insisting that we have to pay, then, she didn't want to cover it using our blue cross, then she managed to do it but billed us full price! When we noticed it, she said that it almost impossible to do the refund, we were waiting around 20 min for and finally we got a refund. Terrible experience! Just awful
Unfriendly staff when I was getting my covid test. Also phoned them up prior to doing it to make an appointment and the person on the phone had bad English and couldn't understand me. They stop doing rapid tests at 3:30 which is especially difficult when I needed to get it to participate in activities so I had to rush off to get there on time before they closed. (This was during restriction exemption)
Not sure how to do this better. THANK YOU so much for being so helpful and getting my prescription to me. I called for help and, I cannot apologize enough for not remembering the name (very embarrassed), the woman who helped was absolutely SO amazing. Theo ther pharmacists here have always been very very helpful, including the one who manages my prescriptions, who has been amazing for years now.
Store is great but the pharmacy staff is stuck in the 80s. I can ignore their incompetency when their online prescription systems works. If anything deviates from their fixed routines the slightest, they completely breakdowns on what to do or how to deal with customers. They just bury their head in the sand Bright examples of corporate efficiency and cheapung out on training back firing.
I purchased a $100 electric tooth brush, it was not holding a charge to finish brushing. I brought it back 3 days later, and was told I had to contact the manufacturer. They refused to take it back, I called another Shoppers, and asked them about the return policy for this product. They told me, it does not matter as long as its within 30 days. I would not shop here again...
I went to pick up my package from Canada post, just before closing time. There was another customer in line, and by the time my turn was called, staff told me to come back the next day. It was only two minutes after closing, 9:02 PM. I requested an exception, but staff told me again to just return the next day. I understand I was late but not the best experience.
Zero stars. Unreliable, dismissive, unprofessional and disorganized... all the things you want in a pharmacy. You have a 1 in 4 chance of getting your Rx on the first try, so plan ahead and allow for a week lead time for multiple phone calls and visits for any basic request to be filled. Utterly incompetent staff. It doesn't get any worse than this place.
I called on Thursday morning over and over to book a covid shot. There was either no answer or I was put on hold and no one ever came back. I decided to leave an e mail with all my needed info so someone could respond. It has been four days now. No response at all. Crickets! I don't care if you are “busy”. Hire some extra staff.
Joke of a pharmacy. Went to get a covid test told the wait was 45 minutes (after having waited for 30 minutes and not seen a single person get tested in that period) - not a single person was waiting ahead of me and no pharmacist was actually doing the tests ended up leaving without a test. Save your time go somewhere else.
I've been on hold for the pharmacy for 1 hour and 7 minutes so far, and there's no sign anyone is planning to answer. This is my second attempt at calling. Why do you have a number if you don't answer your phone? Please don't ask me to call your 1-800 number. Just address the issue so that people can get through. Thanks.
Although this location is notoriously busy, they’ve always been incredibly helpful managing all my medications. Irene (a pharmacy assistant), and Zahra (a pharmacist) are particularly amazing at their jobs. The staff here deserve awards for how helpful they are even in a very busy environment. Thank you guys!
Horribly slow pharmacy. Always seems to be more then 6 people working, and I always feel like not on of them is doing their job. Feels like years just to pick up a prescription. Withdrawal syndrome is a horrible thing to experience, and because of these guys I’ve had to go through it almost in a monthly basis
This used to be a good Shoppers. It isn’t anymore. The service has plummeted (intentionally, I believe, to encourage self-service). I have moved my grocery/cosmetic shopping elsewhere and will move my prescriptions too so that I don’t have to make two stops, which is unfortunate as the pharmacy is good.
I had an excellent experience here twice with the prescribing pharmacist. She spend a lot of time with me answering questions about the medications, and was able to prescribe something for me, saving me a trip to the doctor. She was extremely knowledgeable, professional and helpful. Highly recommended!
I was told my prescription would be ready in 24 hours and when I went to go pick it up they said it would take several days. When I told them I was told different information they were not very considerate to my situation. I am disappointed and the whole experience made me feel very stressed out.
You cannot have a system in place where people need to phone and talk to a pharmacist to book an appointment for a test, and NO ONE answers the phone. Either let the customer service people book it, or ANSWER the phone. Beyond frustrating to be on hold for more than 25 minutes, multiple times.
Worst pharmacy ever. Every time I have to come here there is a fresh problem. I’ve never had so many issues with the simple act of getting my meds. If I wasn’t leaving Calgary soon I’d go somewhere, anywhere else. Needless to say. I do not recommend this place. Save yourself the headache.
Came in last Saturday for some new makeup, Stephanie helped me find a good foundation and all though there was no testers available, she colour matched me perfectly. I have now found my new favourite foundation! Stephanie was very approachable, helpful and kind. Great customer service!!!
In the past several months I've had to get at least 5-6 prescriptions filled for family,Staffs are helpful but I was pushed by pharmacist to sign a paper on my med's information which I think let them make more money. Waiting time can be very long in the morning.
Amazing service from Pharmacy and specifically the Owner of pharmacy she took so much time and care helping me and my wife ...very appreciated... Azita Rezaei you have a great team at the Kensington Rd location!! We are proud of you. Caspian supermarket(Owner)
Customer service is terrible if you are calling in. You end up on perpetual hold. I did get someone pick up the call from their end to ask for customer service line #1, thinking they were paging. So, that gives you a bit of insight into how
I told them my pharmacy was closed and that I'm desperate for my medication that I need, so they took advantage of that and made me pay for medication that is normally covered under my insurance. Please don't go here unless you want to be
Worst post office ever I wish I didn't have to use this office but it's my designated location . I went in on a Saturday quarter after noon to see the post office had a sign saying " back for 1 pm" that made me annoyed but Understood and
Terrible...they clearly asked the address...and then STILL typed it in as going to the wrong province..despite double checking it - because it was a time sensitive document...and when I went to ask them about it a week later (as it never
It's just slow and not very pleasant. DONT BELIEVE THEIR STUPID LITTLE MESSAGE BELOW. I wish I could review this garbage place negatively again! Even transferring my prescriptions somewhere competent is too much for them apparently.
I called and put me on hold 3 times and the last hold was never ending was holding on there for 45min. My question would have taken 1 second to answer just wanted to know if they have rapid tests or not.
The most poorly run pharmacy I have experienced. Disorganized with everything they do, long waits for anything pharmacy related. They will put you on hold for 10 to 15 minutes if you call in.
This review is specifically for Trisha in the cosmetics department. She definitely knows the products she’s selling, very knowledgeable and helpful, and also very welcoming!
Good location but never have stock and no one can assist. Instead you should driver 5 min to the Kensignton Safeway. You will not be disappointed.
Conveniently located for all your quick pick up needs. Clean and friendly staff round out the experience. Always something good on sale here.
I was here 2 weeks ago to buy chips, very nice young guy help me at cash register, very fast with loto machine, will come here again.
beauty manager is rude, pharmacist are useless, but the cashier with curly hair is lovely and always cheery.
Post office was great!⁸⁸^
